Ugggg!

My wife said it best "this movie is for teen age boys". Sure there's lots of action and stuff blowing up all over the place. Some great effects, although a bit far fetched in the reality department. But the acting... yikes. Diesel takes the 'wood' grammy away from Keanu. They should have given him a role like AAAH-NOLD in Terminator... very few lines. And the female lead...I guess shes good if you're into "heroin" chic. Puullllease! I guess some people liked it though...possibly the same people who think pro wrestling is a sport!

xXx my kind of film

Being a Vin Diesel fan this film was a must see for me. After seeing"Pitch Black" and "The Fast and the Furious" I like his calm and coolwith a hint of casual violence thrown in for good measure. He has theability to carry the roles he plays with absolute confidence in himselfwithout appearing over confident or false which would be easy to do insuch roles as these. OK the film is full of hi-tec impossible gadgetsand more extreme sports stunts than a stunt-man convention. But thegadgets fade into the background as the stunts and very credible actingtalents of Vin Diesel and Samuel L Jackson as the good guys supportedby Michael Roof as the Tech-Head (the one supplying the previouslymentioned gadgets) and Marton Csokas and Asia Argento as the baddiesmake the easy to follow plot whip along at break-neck speed. Vin Dieselplays the extreme sports expert and adrenaline junkie Xander Cagepress-ganged into working for Samuel L Jackson (Agent Augustus Gibbons)to uncover a gang of ex-special forces soldiers of Russian Decent hellbent on plunging the world into anarchy and that is all there is to itreally, but throw it to the mixing pot the very well done introductionof Xander base jumping from a car being driven off a bridge and theimaginative tests for the induction into Gibbons agency, add a dash ofexcellent metal music then bring to the boil with lots of motorcyclestunts snowboarding and a sprinkle of the normal explosions in slowmotion and you get an easy to watch entertaining action film. No it isnot the world's best action film, no it is not the cleverest plot, nothere are no massive twists and yes there are some corny gags and a fewpredictable outcomes. All in all a beer and nuts film that you canwatch over and over because there are always little bits of stunts thatyou have missed or a corny line that makes you smile. So it doesn'tbother me that others don't like this film, it has two of my top tenfavourite actors (Diesel and Jackson) and it is amongst my collectionof DVDs, so it gets an 8/10 from me just because it does what it sayson the tin.

The Best Summer Movie This Year!

I'm not generally a big fan of action-packed films, but after seeing "TheFast And The Furious" I really began to like Vin Diesel and had my mindsetto go see "Triple X." Although my main reason to go was to see him, Ienjoyed the movie very much. The lines are clever, the stunts wereamazing,and Vin's acting performance was very notable. Usually when there are alotof stunts performed in films, you don't see the actors' faces because it'snot them, it's stunt men. It was really awesome to see so much of Vin'sfacewhile the stunts were being performed. It was also refreshing to watch theentire movie without too much profanity. It was very sporadic and the 'F'word was not used once. The movie was so good I developed a craving to seeit again and it was nice to not be too embarrassed of the movie to take mymother to see it. I give "Triple X" two thumbs up, it's truly the bestsummer movie of this year!

Better than what the critics will tell you and a bit above what it's IMDb rating could persist.

Xander Cage is a thrill seeker who ends up getting recruited by thegovernment to be apart of their next level of secret agents.To be honest I didn't have much interest seeing this movie, it justdidn't seem to appeal to me enough t go out and check it out in thetheaters or even be prompted to rent it on video or DVD. Saw some clipson television but it was only when I was flipping through stuff. I didget interested into seeing it since my cousin was a extra in the film,that he's best friends with the director's son( the director is alsoclose friends with my aunt and uncle down in California). But I keptputting the flick off, and with it's great deal of hatred online Iwasn't so sure, then again I'm not usually one to listen to others,even if they do take their opinions to the next level of defense.I checked it out last night and found it to be much better than whatpeople have labeled it to be.Is it the best out of it's crop? No. Will the screenplay win anyawards? No. Is it about the character development? No. So what does xXxaspire? The action? The gadgets? The style? The velocity of it'sscience? Yep. Is there a problem though? Most action movies do aspirethis, you can make arguments opposing to this with examples likeTerminator 2 but could you name a hundred action films similar to thatsort of level and demand? I'd like to see that list. Not saying everymovie needs to be like xXx but I don't see what's so bad with havingsome junk food once and while( am not implying this movie is badbecause of the "junk" part, I basically mean candy). The script alsohas a few clever plot twists for it too and isn't exactly the "dumb"type either from my perspective. That being said, the action sequences and the technicality aspects werevery pretty and very enjoyable as well as engaging to view.Depsite not aspiring to character development the characters are fineespecially the character of Xander Cage, he maybe your standard actionhero but not your standard anti-hero, take note that unlike a lot ofothers he doesn't smoke, drink, or do drugs, he's as clean as a whistleand has morals, despite having a record the size of a mountain.Vin Diesel does a decent job, Asai Argento is sort of annoying, SamuelL. Jackson is good, as always. The Villain wasn't bad either.xXx is your standard action flick, not the best but certainly not theworst of it's genre nor does it give a bad name to it either, like alot have made it out to be.6/10.

Maybe it's me, but I really don't see what xXx has to do with the JamesBondmovies! And...why compare it to other movies?! If you do that, it's kindoflogical that you don't enjoy a movie..But I actually loved that movie!Okay,Vin Diesels acting has to be worked on. That...tone in his voice..you canhear that he has memorised the lines...but his looks make that up right?=)The stunts were absolutely fantastic! although...the thing...with the snowand stuff...not so realistic. Come to think about it..there were a lot ofdefaults..But still..have you seen that body?!!!

Awesome.

One word can sum up everything in this movie. Awesome. If you are just inthe mood to see a great action flick on a weekend, go see XXX. I went at9:20 at night and there were quite a few people all of which were pleasedwith the movie. All my friends thought it was good too. So just hang out anddon't worry about artistic value and stuff, just watch a great actionmovie.

It's no Bond, but that's why it works

This movie is all about being big, loud, fun, and it knew it, andsucceededbeyond belief.Leave your brain at the door and enjoy basically. This is a truecallbackto the action epics of the 80s, complete with a lead actor that isobviouslyenjoying himself and what he does. Diesel isn't a great actor, but he'sreally good in these roles and that's all that matters.This isn't a high drama that should make you think, so I don't see whypeople are complaining that it didn't make them think. It's obviously ahigh energy action film, and it did it flawlessly. It also harkened backtothe days of 007 doing outrageous stunts and measured up withease.Does XXX replace Bond? No, but they can very easily co-exist as theydon'treally merit comparison, other than they are both spies.Is it a stupid film? Only if you expected something more than a bigactionmovie, which is what all the promotional materials said it was. Ihonestlydon't see how someone could see this film after seeing previews for itandhave reason to complain as it's exactly what it said it would be. Toexpect more is foolish really, and leaves me to ask "what did you expectwhen you paid your ticket?"

very average

This movie is very unimpressive. It wasn't terrible, The stunts were atfirst fun to watch, but after a while I felt they just delayed the movie.Theplot was ok, and the acting was decent, I just thought that after a whilethe movie really seemed to drag. I reccomend this movie to any fan ofextreme sports and any girl who has fallen in love with Vin Diesel. (Itseems like a lot of girls have.)

Twitchy action film

Alot of explosion, alot of death defying extreme stunts. Vin Disel give a decent performance, but don't hold your breath for any Oscars. The plot is feasible, I suppose. A street wise spy hired by a secret government organization to infiltrate a hostile group and find info. And what's a good action film without a gal the hero can fall for?There really isn't any suspense while watching the movie. You pretty much know that our protagonist will pull the job off and get the gal. And you also know that when there is a need for it, he will do heroic deeds, and think with a mind of a genius. The main antogonist is a cookie cutter villan: someone with great power who wants to create as much mayhem as possible.I enjoyed the film, but am regretting BUYING the DVD...

Action over Dialogue Anyone?

Okay, for some, this will be a great movie. I remember, as a teen, watching Stallone and enjoying many a movie where it was all about action and not about plot, character or acting. For the next generation, here is Vin Diesel. He is not James Bond, but maybe James Bond's younger, American second cousin. Sure, he used some spy stuff, but for the most part, XXX uses ESPN Extreme Sports moves to make his plans work out okay.For the rest of us, this movie is not a good option. It actually got a little boring watching scene after scene staged just to show off another "stunt." Perhaps if the pyrotechnics budget had been diminished just a tad and reinvested in a decent screenwriter and acting coach, this could have been a boxoffice blockbusting series in the making. Unfortunately, it is not.

Good try, start again.

A new breed of secret agent. On behalf of who, Jackass? Johnny Knoxvilleas Deputy Director J.K. America's equivalent to James Bond and hisadventures stem from Our Man Flint, through to True Lies slightly, and nowonwards to xXx. I like the title, quite secret agent and the maincharacter's codename, Vin Diesel looks the part, his somewhatbecoming-quite-frequent introduction into the agency via a reputation forbeing his own man, ready to run risks for the sake of adrenaline frenzy. Inother words, it's someone not assigned to the agency roster yet good enoughfor the job. Must be plenty of them on the U.S. streets.***SPOILERS*** But then there's the rest of the movie. The henchman of thebaddie remembers seeing footage of this new agent's antics of extremesports, silly when the agent is keeping a low profile. To me, he is trustedtoo quickly after exposing an undercover cop. Corny one-liners that weren'tdelivered as slick as required, the action isn't as fast-paced as Bond,though I doubt a comparison was intended by the filmmakers. The scriptshould have included more dialogue on the mission and gathering intelligencerather than making Vin look and sound good. And the gadgets man, is a NSAagent? More like a NBA agent. Perhaps more brains than astuteness. Hedidn't put me at ease with his inclusion, his humour didn't suit the filmand he came over as blundering. Hardly NSA, though I may bewrong.***SPOILERS*** Then at the end, such a clique, chasing a bomb with secondsremaining, makes it at the end, looks dead and buried under water, and outof a crowd of onlookers, the only person to spot him emerging is the loveinterest Yelena. She sees him, even though she is on one side of the bridgelooking over and the agent emerges on the other side down below, out ofsight. The filmmakers seemed to have wanted to put an end to it quickly andrushed it in time for the cinemas. Good title, good choice of actor, storyline should have been better, moreaction scenes and gadgets, less humour and wise-cracking, more stealthmovements and inteligence gathering. Hope its like that in xXx2. xXx gets5 out of 10.

Guilty Pleasure

I had heard quite a few bad things about xXx before seeing, so I wasn'texpecting much when I finally watched it. But, to my surprise, it wasn'tthat bad after all. Sure, it certainly is no masterpiece, and the plot isquite ludicrous (though it's not any worse than, say, the plot of any oftheJames Bond movies...), but in the end, it IS just an action flick. It aimsto entertain with explosions, stunts and some hip and cool (though notverybelievable) characters ... and it does just that. So, if you're lookingforsome easy entertainment you won't need your brain for, go watch thismovie.Yeah, it's a guilty pleasure, but ultimately an entertaining one.5/10

The best movie of all time...if you're 12 years old!

XXX is like that popular girl that everybody wanted to date in high school. Y'know the one, the hot homecoming queen that is so popular you figure she's got to be great and you dream about going out with her. Problem is, when you finally do...you wonder what the big deal was because she's got no personality and is as boring as an insurance sales convention!! And not as pretty as you thought she was, either!This movie is all marketing and technique and loud annoying German techno-metal, but there's nothing cool about it! How can that be when you're talking about a movie about an extreme athlete who becomes a secret agent? I have no idea how, but they've made it lame. You get the feeling that the movie was spawned during a meeting of studio execs when some "genius" had the idea of a guy outrunning an avalanche with a snowboard. They just needed a way to fit it in a movie...the result is a remarkably boring and overwrought piece of dreck, and also one of the five most fake movies of all time! A heat-seeking missle homing in on a cigarette? C'mon now, this is utterly absurd! Maybe if they had tried to make the movie a little more fun, a little more tongue-in-cheek, it might've been okay. But it takes itself way more seriously than it ought to...and the result is derivative and laughable. It's on par with the worst of the James Bond movies...which is pretty bad (ever see "License to Kill"?)! Everyone associated with this should've known better! 5/10.

Say WHAAAAAAA?

First, the Fast and the Furious, now THIS? Why, oh WHY are movies this idiotic being made? Look past all of the "eckstreeeemly kewl ackshin seeenses" for a second (which I'm surprised didn't win an Oscar for 'Best Animated Movie') and you'll find a boring, badly-acted, hard-to-follow [mimic] of Bond. If you like this movie, ask yourself this: If Barbra Streisand leaped out of an exploding Jeep from 50,000 feet up in "Yentl", would you like that too? I rest my case.Feel free to click 'Not Helpful' now.

Where did the time go??

I have just watched xXx, and couldn't believe the time after it finished,when I realised that I had been in the cinema for over two hours, I wasamazed. This film is superb. There is no edge of your seat stuff, or longexplanations and the film doesnt need it. My brain felt blissfully spongelike throughout. You can just sit back and relax and take in all theactioneye candy. The stunts range from the "have got the tshirt" explosions tofantastic, imaginative and creative stunts, that I doubt James Bond wouldever consider. Probably not quite sophisticated enough. Not that i amslating James Bond, but this film takes all of the best bits of Bond, andthen adds just enough attitude to lift it above. And not much in the wayofsex!! Rather than giving us the what feels like the obligatory scene, itwasonly implied which for an action film is good, because it keeps the paceofthe film that much faster (and also a 12A rating).This is a film that I will buy, its just like Tomb Raider, but with moretattoos.

Good Action Packed Film

The film has a good plot and is tangled with mystery. There are a couple ofscenes that are a little far fetched but the graphics made up for anydeficit, wait until you read the stunt line up and you will understand. Igave it an 8 based on the stunts and graphics, it held my interest and wasentertaining. If you are an action person I would recommend owning the DVDor the VHS tape.

Cohen disappoints me.

xXx could've been something out of this world. An extreme sports nut isrecruited into an agency. What is there to expect? Kick ass action, badjokes and good fun. Did we get it? Well.. There is lots of action, but it isso soulless and pointless. The jokes are good ("knocked over a few 7-11s,have we?"), but there are like three of them. Fun? More likedisappointment.After movies like Dragonheart, Daylight and especially The Fast and TheFurious, we had every right to expect this to be nothing short of a goodBond knock-off from director Cohen. The idea is great, but the whole moviejust feels so depressingly shallow, like Cohen's creative vain would havejust dried up. The camerawork is boring and the angles destroy the action. It's supposed tobe flowing freely, but here they just seem to cut takes together almostrandomly. This movie promised loads of fun, but it ended up serving loads ofs...** / *****
