A young med student takes his eyes off the road and hits a group of campers, They seem to be having car trouble to, so they go off and look for a phone and come across a cabin home to three cannibal brothers disfigured from generations of inbreeding.
This movie was all that i could ask for. This is what every horror movie should be like. A perfect example of what Horror means. This is Worth every penny. The film also features great and amazing actors like Eliza Dushku, Desmond Harrington, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jeremy Scott, and Lindy Booth who give excellent first rate performances. There is not a thing about this movie that I didnt like. It as very scary, action packed, and very entertaining. I loved it in each and every way that there are no words to describe it.One hell of a great movie. I'd say this one is a keeper.
First of all i gotta say that this has to be one of the scariest moviesi'veseen this year, and i've seen many. Maybe this is your average horrorflickwith lots of clichès, but that is what made it so good and fun towatch. The movie had everything:Gore, Suspense, No boring parts, good and tensechasing scenes, likable characters. Firts of let me start with the acting, ihave to say that the acting was way about average. Desmond Harringtonplaysthe hero that saves the day(or at least someone), he plays his characterpretty good and never comes accros as machist, although he plays thetypicalhero he made his character more interesting and realistic than it neededtobe. Eliza Dushku played the typical heroine too, and she was so much funtowatch. Emmanuelle Chriqui was my favorite character simply because sheplayed it so realistic and she was so likable, she does what any personwould do in such situation: scream, run, cry, but sadly she dies. JeremySisto played a really funny character and i felt for him. I like him, HEROCKS. Now let me say that this movie is not for the faint of heartbecause(SPOILERS) Now let me say that this movie has some really disturbingdeaths(The barb wire scene anyone??) and some nasty dismemberment scenes, ohh and that wonderful decapitation(This has got to be the best directeddeath ever), But there are more deaths!!The movie was directed pretty good and the make up effects were good too.The inbred men were really scary.Well to finish this i have to say that this movie will be enjoyed by everyperson that loves horror/slasher movies.I give it a 10/10
Like most slasher films, Wrong Turn is not especially scary, though it does achieve a few moments of mild suspense.
A tedious slasher picture with yet another Inbred Monster as its star villain.
Two college students, Halley and Rich, are rock climbing in the WestVirginia forest. Rich is at the top while Halley starts to struggle andfalls, but her climbing line catches her. She calls out for Rich topull her up the rest of the way, Then she sees Rich's hand at the topof the cliff, dripping blood that lands on her face, before his body isthrown off the cliff. The killers then start pulling Halley up by herclimbing line, but she cuts her rope. Halley then falls. then runs backtowards her car. Just before she reaches her car, Halley trips over apiece of barbed wire and is dragged back into the woods, screaming. Then the movies movie to Chris Flynn who is running late for jobinterview due to being stuck in tragic Jam. he takes other route andend up crash in the car in front of him, which is filled with sixteenagers. Then Chris and the four teenager go to look for some helpbut they find something even more shocking. There are some great creepy moment in this movie but they focus more onthe deaths scenes in this movie to make them really gory but this isnot as gory as wrong turn 2 but still really good deaths scenes in thismovie. The acting was not bad at all, it really good for low budget movie andthe freaks were really scary too.i going to give this movie 7 out 10
I have to say, I was sceptical at first but I was completely wrong. Hasan air of Hills Have Eyes about it, I have to say, but very, very, good. Desmond Harrington is excellent as well as is Eliza Dushku (acomplete change to Bring It On). Well acted (although I think thesecond guy to die's girlfriend isn't upset enough at the sight of herboyfriend being shot with arrows). Major goof - he calls himself Flynn, the cover says Finn! There are no bad points I can actually think aboutit, a complete surprise. Also very like Wolf Creek but better. It infact takes a well known story line - people get lost, bad people outthere who are cannibals/inbreds, some die, some survive and have madeit their own. A very plausible storyline as well as characters.Definitely recommendable to anyone, it suits all audiences.
The flick grew on me after I initially disliked it ... and that's something not many horror films can do.
I love cheesy slasher flicks. I grew up on them. Give me Re-Animator,Returnof the Living Dead...even Jason X. For a horror fan, when a movie like'Wrong Turn' is released, I have to be there regardless of what I fear isgoing to happen. I heard it was 'Hills Have Eyes' meets 'Texas ChainsawMassacre' meets 'Jeepers Creepers'...all great films. What you end upgetting is 'Gnome Named Gnorm' (check out Stan Winston's film credits..heactually made this) meets Surviving the Game meets 'The Muppets'. Myfearscame to life as 'Wrong Turn' didn't. Director Rob Schmidt does not knowhowto create tension/suspense/horror/ or even general interest. This movie,ifI dare refer to it as that, is a complete joke that doesn't intend to befunny. It gives slasher movies of the past a horrible reputation andrevealsjust how terrible the future of acting really is when we're subjected towatch Eliza Kushdu and Desmond Harrington attempt to carry a filmwhereupondropping it in a steaming pile of crap. What does it say about your moviewhen laughable-cannibal-mutant-muppets become smarter than the humancharacters of the story? It says everything about 'Wrong Turn'. I hated, hated, hated this movie. The only thing that made the experience mildlyenjoyable was doing the Mystery Science Theater thing throughout andlistening to other people laugh at how bad this movie is. Avoid this likethe plague and go read a book.
NEWS FLASH: This is a horror film, it doesn't claim to be any kind ofepicmasterpiece. That said, for what it is, it's TONS of fun, very suspenseful and attimes, terrifying. Wrong Turn is kind of a throwback to 70s horror films like theTexas Chainsaw Massacre, only well-acted and better produced. Thedirectortakes a simple premise and does so much in terms of bringing it to lifeandcreating this eerie tone from beginning to end.If you're expecting a contender for next years Academy Awards, thenperhapsyou should stay home or wait till the end of the year for the sweeps. Butif you're looking for good, solid, scary fun, then this is the film foryou!
When I had seen a copy of 'Wrong Turn' in my local video store, I first had the thought that it might well be another dumb teens in trouble type of movie (this thought being a reflection of recent horror movies and not teens). Well, I rented the movie and must say that I was quite pleasantly surprised. 'Wrong Turn' to quite the contrary of expectations has characters that are intelligently written and smartly played by a distinguished cast. This movie sets up its premise with the introduction of one character which leads to an attempted shortcut to bypass a traffic jam and introduces the wrong turn and the other characters who also made the wrong turn. Using this as a starting point rather than introduce all of the characters at once allows for a natural character development which is not strained. Each of the players in this movie give a distinction to their characters making them quite likeable and not one-dimensional which gives believability and tension to their circumstances. The pace this movie sets moves at a steady rate that does not let you down or try to move too fast. This is the story of a group of young people (not teens) driving through West Virginia and end up making a wrong turn to avoid a traffic jam but rather end up running into a family of inbreeds who have no concept of right or wrong, animal or human. The only complaint I have with the film is the make-up job of the inbreeds, they look more like trolls; but that is a trivial complaint. 'Wrong Turn' makes the right moves and like its inspiration, 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', it could in its own right become a classic.-Bob
eliza dushku is one of the hottest females around and she did amazing in this movie... and so did desmond harrington (who in his previous lackluster movie GHOST SHIP was the bad guy)... he plays a good guy trying to get out of the woods alive...the way they kill these people are just graphic and brilliant.... i love the fact that the killers are unstoppable... but in a more realistic way (unlike jason voorhees and mike myers)...what gives this movie a 4 stars is because why do people go into the woods and explore... dont go anywhere if you are strainded... by watching movies like this i dont want to ever go into the woods and neither should the people reading this review...one of the best horror flicks since the first final destination.... 4 out of 5 stars
Wrong Turn is great popcorn flick. Don't expect the most originalplot -it'ssimply kids being chased by cannibals. And it succeeds as being a funcampyhorror flick. It's scarier than heck, and graphic. I'm not a big fan ofgore, but there wasn't enough that it totally grossed me out. But I didnearly jump out of my seat a few times.Eliza Dushku is fantastic as Jessie and the rest of the cast did a greatjob.Overall, I really enjoyed Wrong Turn. It's incredibly fast paced. Theperformances were good. If you like horror movies, it's well worthseeing.
While this movie doesn't have the warped sensibilities of 1977's similarly plotted The Hills Have Eyes, it has decent performances and genuine suspense.
A group of travelers get trapped out in the middle of nowhere, whenthey accidentally crash their vehicles into one another, looking for aphone to call somebody, they travel through the woods & what asurprise! they stumble upon a home belonging to three hideouslydisfigured backwoods hillbilly cannibals, who hunt the group down oneby one, killing them as to serve as their next meal until the would bevictims decide to fight back. Gross out horror entry is yet anotherstaple in the Texas CHAINSAW MASSACRE storyline that's become the focalpoint of so many horror entries in the last four or five years or so,it's nothing really new, but it should do for horror fans looking for afun horror movie, which is well acted by the cast & professionallydirected, there's some pretty good suspense scenes & a few moments ofgore & a few scares to help make it a cut above most horror entries.Definitely recommended to horror fans. Followed by WRONG TURN 2.*** stars
I rented 'Wrong Turn 1 & 2' a couple of nights ago as I am a huge fanof horror films, and I thought that it wouldn't hurt to watch this eventhough I didn't know anything about the films. Well, I am glad Iwatched it as it was better than I thought it would be.Chris Finn (Desmond Harrington) is on his way to a job interview and isdriving through the mountains of West Virginia. There is then achemical spill on the road, so being short on time, he decides to takea different route, an abandoned dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Hethen by accident crashes into a car sitting in the middle of the road.He then meets a group of five friends on a hiking trip who includeJessie (Eliza Dushku) whom are stranded on the road. Two people stay atthe car, and another group goes for help, only to find a sinister cabinnestled in the West Virgina woods, that is home to a trio ofcannibalistic mountain men horribly disfigured from years ofin-breeding. They then make a mad dash for their lives through out thewoods, only hoping to make it out alive. But, will the trio let themleave their hunting grounds? This is one of those films which are as cliché as you can get and theplot is predictable all the way through. But still, I did like 'WrongTurn'. It had more than just the classic kids get lost in the woods andget killed. There was a little spark to it and I loved the fact thatthe killers were deformed mutated humans who were more closer to realmonsters, than the more routine big bad guys. One thing I hated is thefact that the actors are so beautiful and glossed over even when theycome out of burning towers, running through the wild and their throatsare parched without water. But, I liked it & some of you who may nothave seen too many horror movies like me may like it.7/10
this movie was a wrong turn! if u want a real good scare avoid this one! sucked!
'Wrong Turn' is set up right from the get-go to be our typical classichorror thriller. It's not set to break any new ground or cross anyboundaries into a higher territory of filmmaking. The actors areoccasionally self-aware, like they know going into the woods is a badidea, but they do it anyway because they're stranded with no car.Jeremy Sisto is good in this aspect of the film, because he plays offof his self-awareness as if he knows what is in store for all of them.I wish he would become a staple in horror films, just so we could hearhim scream and yell and flee in terror more often. The titles of the film give us the gist of what is happening aroundhere, showing us clips of old newspapers. The first one they show us isthe name of the newspaper: The West Virginian, but all they show us isthe words West Virginia. And then Mountain Men. It's like they weretrying to write the synopsis for the back of the DVD case during thetitles of the film. Regardless, our actors march off into the words, leaving Kevin Zegers and his girlfriend to be horribly butchered.Emmanuelle Chriqui's role is expertly annoying, Desmond Harrington isreally the only good thing about this movie, Eliza Dushku is slightlyattractive, but that doesn't save her character from being dull andlifeless, and just being driven through the film as if she was a puppeton a string. The film was written by Alan McElroy, who is the man thatwrote 'Halloween 4' back in 1988. I wonder how long he had this storysitting around collecting dust for. Probably since the inception of theoriginal 'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre', and they finally got around toproducing 'Wrong Turn' the same year that Michael Bay decided they weregoing to go ahead and remake 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. Ebert gave'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' remake zero stars. I tried to find hisreview for 'Wrong Turn'. He doesn't have one. It's a shame too, becauseI was really looking forward to hearing him tear this film apart pageby page. There are a few nice shots in the movie; the art direction iswell-done. The script never lets down, it goes hard until the very end.But it's just so terribly formulaic at this point, that even though'The Hills Have Eyes' remake wouldn't surface for another three years, people today will just think to themselves, why watch 'Wrong Turn' whenI can watch 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' or 'The Hills Have Eyes'remakes instead? WRONG TURN -----6/10.
This is the kind of flick the horror movie buff has already seen ahundred times or more.A parboiled cross between "the Texas chainsawmassacre " and "Friday the thirteenth" and........ (fill in the blank).Good-looking boys and girls meet horrible blood thirsty monsters (shallwe call them men?).Can someone tell me why the villains are almostalways (very)ugly and the victims are always hunks and babes? One can save ,at a pinch ,a good moment:it happens when the desperategroup take refuge on the watchtower (which is at once a refuge and aplace from which you can't escape).During these precious minutes, theviewer feels ill-at-ease and can identify with them.As for the rest,asI cannot say something nice....
This movie is okay....but Dushku's preformance is incredable.Thanx to the writers who didn't make her character stupid or blonde.
I love movies...even bad ones. So for me to say a movie is bad it has to be REALLLLLLY bad. This movie was a lot like chainsaw massacre. There wasnt much of a story either...just people running from disfigured inbreed woodsmen who are looking to kill people and keep body parts as a trophy. Theres just an overkill of blood and gore. I also thought it was boring and fast forwarded through much of the movie! But if youre looking for a movie with a high gross out factor than this is a good one.
