Charming film...

I don't think it is quite as good as The Many Adaventures of Winnie thePooh, which was one of the better films of the 60s-70s. Winnie thePooh's Most Grand Adaventure is a charming and sweet film, that isnoticeably quieter in tone to the 1977 film, but for me that is neveran excuse for not liking a film. The animation is lovely, with lovelycolours, and fairly true in style to the 1977 film. The voice talentsare very good, particularly John Fiedler and Paul Winchell as Pigletand Tigger. Jim Cummings is also good as Pooh, but I don't think DavidWarner was as thoughtful enough a narrator as Sebastian Cabot. Thestory is fast moving, but there may be some elements that may scareyoung children. Also, although sweet, adults will find the songs a bitlimp. All in all, a sweet and charming film. 8/10 Bethany Cox.

I Grew Up On This Movie

I grew up watching this movie all the time. I love Pooh and all the characters in it. You want to know that nothing will happen to any of the characters and yet you can't stop watching. I used to put my hands over my eyes when they came to Skull Rock and sometimes at night I would just scream. But I always loved the ending.

A Sad, Sad Story

You're braver than you believe. Stronger than you seem. And smarter than you think. The above words are the key to this story. You'll find more about these words later on in this review.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Yes, the video is pretty nice, but it is too sad and scary for little kids. The part when Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, and Rabbit think that Pooh is eaten by a skullosaurus is the saddest part of every movie I have ever watched. This is NOT a good movie for any kid. Even my 11-year old kid got emotional watching it. But the 10 minutes after the beginning of the movie is pretty funny. (The part where Rabbit slips on a pile of nuts and falls down, and more!)__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________This is what Disney said..."From the heart of the Hundred Acre Wood, a all-new movie is born. Inspired by the classic A. A. Milne stories, Pooh's Grand Adventure-The Search for Christopher Robin is the first feature-length movie in twenty years. Starring the world's most beloved characters, this enchantment-filled adventure continues where the original story left off."After reading this, I can conclude that the original story is "The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, which is a FUN, not sad video. Yes, this video does continue where the original story left off, which is under a big tree.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________The plot:(The Following Portion of this Review is written by Disney)"Once upon the last day of a golden summer, the last thing Christopher Robin wants to tell Pooh he is going to school. Instead, he leaves a note that Pooh and friends misunderstand. Believing Christopher Robin has gone to "skull," Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, and Rabbit set off the rescue him. And so begins the grandest, most extraordinary journey of their lives - the discovery that even when apart, friends are as close as your heart."I don't know about you, but when I read the plot Disney wrote, I got goosebumps. It is really well-written.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________This is the last part of what Disney wrote about the video."Five delightful new songs enrich themes of friendship and overcoming fears in this charming and endearing story. Pooh's Grand Adventure-The Search for Christopher Robin is a JOYOUS exprience Pooh lovers of all ages will want to watch again and again."Joyous? I don't think so. More like sad.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________You probably read the words at the top of this review and are wondering what those words are about. It's what Christopher Robin tells Pooh at the beginning to always remember, even if they aren't together. First, Pooh forgets these words. At the end, Pooh says something like this..."Piglet was braver than he believed. Tigger was stronger than he seemed. And Rabbit was smarter than he thought." That's when Pooh realizes friends are as close as your heart.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Overall, this is a pretty nice movie. But I would suggest "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh." I think it's around two hours long, almost twice the length of this. (This is 70 minutes long.) "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" is a JOYOUS experience, unlike this one.

A wonderful story of friendship and self-belief.

Pooh and his friends go on a hazardous journey to save their friend Christopher Robin from "skull". On the way they find that they are more capable and smarter than they had thought. A lovely story with wonderful music.

The Best Pooh movie by far!

This movie is excellent. Fans of the classic Pooh cartoons ("Blustery Day," "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree," "A Day for Eeyore" and the like), and of "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" will love it. Wonderful songs embellish this perfectly created Pooh story. Some complain that it is dark, scary, and such. Certain parts are, but definitely not overly so. It's necessary to the plot and the message of the film; not every second is 'terrifying' and even for young children, no scene should be too 'scary.' The sad emotional quality of this movie sets it apart a little bit too, but again, it is not too sad for kids, nor is it much more 'depressing' than many other Pooh tales. There is a happy ending with a fun song just as should be expected. From beginning to end 'Pooh's Grand Adventure' is truly grand and should not be missed; the only possible problem I can see is the disclusion of Gopher!

one star is way too much

This is a wonderful movie. Pooh and his friends take an adventure to find Christopher Robin. They are apprehensive because they are going somewhere they have never gone before, and so it seems scary. But, as they search for Christopher Robin, they find out about themselves. Piglet is brave, Tigger is strong, Rabbit is smart...all things that they really knew deep within themselves and Christopher Robin points out, once they find him. When you believe in yourself, anything is possible. This movie is more than entertaining, it encouages children to believe in themselves and have the will to accomplish their goals.

The True Strength Of Friends.

This review is from: Pooh's Grand Adventure - The Search for Christopher Robin (DVD) Pooh's Grand Adventure is the latest Disney DVD featuring Pooh and his friends at the 100-Acre Wood. The film involves Pooh and Christopher Robin enjoying the last day of Summer, when Christopher Robin tells Pooh important news, Pooh would not listen, so it would wait till the next day. The following day, Pooh assumes something has happened to Christopher Robin and worries, so he, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and Eeyore journey to an unknown world outside the 100-Acre Wood to rescue Christopher Robin. The special features includes a 1968 Oscar-winning Pooh cartoon "The Blustery Day" and an interactive game. This is a perfect Disney DVD for pre-schoolers and parents alike.

Pooh and His Friends Go on a Quest

Christopher Robin tries to tell Pooh that he is going to go somewhere. However, the subject just fails to arrive. Instead, Christopher Robin leaves Pooh with these wise words: You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. Little does Pooh realize that these words will soon have significant meaning for him.The next morning Pooh wakes to find a jar of honey outside his tree. Pooh begins to dip into the honey, but then has second thoughts as he considers whether the honey might belong to someone. Unfortunately, Pooh's dip into the honey obscures the writing on a note attached to the side of the honey. Pooh and his friends eventually discover the night and attempt to decipher it, only to learn that Christopher Robin has somehow gone to "skull" and will not be returning. There is only one thing that Christopher Robin's friends can do: they must go on a quest to find Christopher Robin.Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore and Rabbit set off to "skull" to find Christopher Robin. Unfortunately, Rabbit's map skills are insufficient to the task of finding "skull," and the world outside the hundred acre wood is big and scary. One might wonder how Pooh and his friends will conquer gaping chasms, monsters, and dark scary caves. Where is Christopher Robin! Wherever he is, his friends will rescue him! This animated 1997 movie was direct to video. However, the quality of the story and the animation are good, and this movie is captivating. I believe this movie might have done well as a theater release. I think fans of Pooh and his adventures will enjoy this family friendly movie, and families with young children will want this movie for their film libraries. Enjoy!

PoohsGrand Adventure - the search for Christopher Robin

This review is from: Pooh's Grand Adventure - The Search for Christopher Robin (DVD) The 2 DVDs I ordered were great but we were not impressed that the post office would not deliver them until I had paid an extra £14.30 to them comprising £6.30 VAT and £8.00 Royal Mail international Handling Fee. This obviously made them rather expensive and I would certainly have liked to know this amount was likely to be added before I purchased them. Pooh's Grand Adventure is a GREAT Pooh movie!

Pooh's Grand Adventure is SUPER GRAND! I love it. WHAT HAPPENS: There's a boy named Christopher Robin who has a teddy bear named Pooh. They are hanging out together. Christopher wants to tell Pooh something, but they have lots of fun together and he forgets. When he remembers, he attaches a note to Pooh's honey pot. But Pooh gets it messy with honey and nobody can read it, but Owl can misread it! He thinks Christopher is going to an evil place called Skull. Join Pooh and friends on an adventure thru the 100 Acre Woods.WHAT I THINK: Some people complain that it is scary for their child/children. If your kid (or you if you're a kid) are more than 5 years old it ought to be OK. The reason I knocked off one star is that I hate the map song/Never Trust Your Eyes. It makes it look like sences are useless and if you don't have a map, you're doomed. All the other songs are fantastic! Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"

Great Movie!!!

I love this movie. As to little children being scared, unless they are watching alone or their parents are using a VCR, there is no reason to be afraid. If their parents are using a DVD player all they have to do is skip to the next chapter as soon as scary stuff comes on. There isn't very much scary in this movie, though. Just a little after Rabbit takes over leading and then in the cave after they split up until Christopher Robin shows up. Then when they are ready to try a little scary they can try watching the whole movie. Now as far as which is better the old Winnie the Pooh or the new I say to each his own. Some like the old and some like the new. I myself prefer the new. From what I can see Amazon sells both. If you want the old there are two DVD's at Amazon you can buy.

Extremely disappointed!

This review is from: Pooh's Grand Adventure - The Search for Christopher Robin [VHS] (VHS Tape) This movie is terrible! It doesn't hold true to what winnie the pooh and his friends are all about. The movie is very dark and scary! I do not recommend any parent buying this movie for their child. If parents are in search of a sweet, clean, light-hearted movie for their young child then I recommend sticking to the many adventures of winnie the pooh, aristocats and lady and the tramp. This movie was truly a waste of money for us.

Classic Pooh great grins for everyone Not a money grab rip off of an original

I just got the DVD for my 2 and a half yr old daughter. She loves thesilly Ole bear as much as I did as a kid. With all of the sequels toreally great classic Disney movies, you would think that the newer poohwould be really awful. (see the book of Pooh for example), howeverthere is not a huge difference between this title and the academy awardwinning short: Winnie The Pooh and the Blustery Day, which is a bonusfeature on the DVD. Rabbits singing voice sounds a bit forced andsqueaky, But this isn't American Idol. My daughter sits and watchesthis one instead of checking in on it while playing or getting intomischief. There are great quote lines, already listed in other reviews, and sight gags that make me laugh and keeps my kids grins and gigglesgoing even in the scarier parts. I don't believe that even young kidswill have trouble with nightmares. On the other hand I myself am aStephen King reader and my daughter is used to seeing movies based onhis works, She doesn't really watch with me but she comes in and out ofthe room without being scared. I guess I would be sure I knew my childand watch with them the first viewing or screen it yourself first ifbeing lost in an unknown woods and strange monster growling (Poohshungry for honey tummy) might scare them.I just wish everyone at Disney would stay closer to Walts originalvision. Hopefully The Search for Christopher Robin and Bambi 2 aresigns of good things to come.

Cute Movie

This is a very cute movie and great for Pooh fans of all ages. It makesyou feel all warm inside and kid's love watching it because its fun andhas the characters they love to watch. Has a great message for all agesand some great quotes you will not forget. Pooh is as cute and lovableas ever in this movie. It has all your favorite characters so no onewill be disappointed that their's is not featured. It would make agreat gift for kids (or the kid at heart) that is starting school(kindergarden or college), leaving home for the first time, or movingaway from home. Adult's will not get bored so this would make a awesomemovie for the whole family to sit and watch together.

It isn't that bad it just seems that way because the style doesn't belong with Winnie the Pooh.

The style doesn't belong but it works, somehow. When this film was new and I was young I thought it was cheesy andspoilt Winnie the Pooh. Now I'm older and am interested in things I've seen as a young child.I've dug out those old videos to see what sort of things I liked andhated back then (in case your wondering this was my brother's videothat's why it's been left intact). I watched it and actually foundmyself laughing at those silly jokes and feeling quite emotional atPooh's little song. Also is it just me or did that tree look like a skull when Pooh looksat it from Owl's window? It's a fun film to watch when you want to lookback to the past. It's nice to watch in the gloom of early evenings inwinter when the house is empty and quiet. A relaxing film.I did find bits of it still a little cheesy (I won't say what because Idon't want to spoil the film). It's not really exciting but it doesn't need to be.The ending is a bit obvious if you can spell but who cares. You'llunderstand if you see the film. It's worth seeing. It's both funny and sad and possibly a little creepyfor kids (it's a good point). And it is quite amusing to see how thecharacters deal with life with no Christopher Robin.

not suitable for toddlers

My daughter was scared by the setting last year when she was two. Muchmore eerie than one would suspect a Winnie Pooh film to be. So we putthe film aside until this year. Now she enjoys watching the film. Stillshe has to watch some scenes with an adult by her side. Not suitablefor dinner preparation TV.The film clearly benefits from including all the original characters.Unlike some of the other films which exclude OWL, a character dearlyloved by all our family--ever since the stormy day film. So, great for bigger preschool children but unsuitable for toddlers.Buy Tigger's Movie or the 1977 film instead if you have a young child.
