Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "Winners & Sinners". They represent actual movie quality.
This film seems pretty fun to watch, except for some odd comedic acting by the Lucky Stars. The characters seem to be sometimes crazy and some scenes are even more crazy, including the invisibility scene. And Chan is rarely seen in the film acting. Still, action is the key and this film marvels with the final fight of brawls. If you're looking for a classic Chan film, go check out Winners and Sinners.
The "Lucky Stars" crew which includes Sammo Hung, Richard Ng, Jacky Chan, etc. show what Kung-Fu Comedy is all about. This is one of my all time favorite Kung-Fu Comedies, I liked it better than "My Lucky Stars" one of my other favorites. Sammo and Jacky display their fighting skills (although Jacky had a minor role) and Richard Ng is hilarious especially in the "invisible" scene. Their fight scenes (again Richard splits my sides with his "rope-a-dope" boxing) and scams just made me keep rewinding and laughing. This is definitely one to add to your Martial Arts Collection.
Well, i bought Winners and Sinners, then i heard, Jackie has a pretty smallrole. It's true. Jackie appears only in couple fights. He doesnt take partto the final fight. But it doesnt matter. The film is great! I like Samohung's films a lot. Especially i like the 'lucky stars' series, cos thehumor is simple, funny and very unique. Humor is stupid and childish, but itfits in just right. I personally like Richard Ng. He is so funny! Of coursethere is good fight scenes and stunts. And the massive car crash is great ina low budget movie! Dont let Jackie's short appearance spoil the movie. Dontthink this movie as a Jackie Chan movie. Think it as 'The lucky stars'movie!
I didn't care that much for this film--I checked it out to seea Jackie Chan movie, but he's not really in this one that much, although the two longer scenes he is in are good ones, and generally the fight scenes are pretty entertaining. However, the humor in this one seemed moronic to me, and there was SOOOO much of it! But if you really like Sammo Hung and his sense of humor, you'll love it.
'Winners and Sinners' is one of the funniest movies ever made. Firstdisappointed by the fact, that Jackie Chan's part is pretty small, Istartedto love the other characters of the movie, especially Teapot (Samo Hung)andExhaust Pipe (Richard Ng).It's very funny to see, how the members of the 'gang' get arrested(especially Exhaust Pipe trying to steal the wheels of a police officer'scar while he is searching his keys). The humor of the movie is mostly created by the funny dialogues and thestunning fight scenes, which also are, at times, very funny. But if youdon't like this kind of 'silly' fun, you won't enjoy thismovie. But I did. More than once ore twice (I saw this movie about 30times).But I must admit, that my relationship to this movie is kind of special.Itis one of the movies I have ever seen.Nevertheless, I highly recommend this movie to everyone who likes sillyfunand stunning fight sequences!P.S.: If you like this movie, watch other 'five lucky stars' - movies like'Fuk sing go jiu'!
This movie is the best movie ever. It's all funny and it just has everything. I think it's way better then drunken master 2. The fight scenes in this movie are even faster than "Who am I?" If you're looking for a movie with good fights, then this is the one. I always thought that "drunken master 2" was the greatest kung fu movie ever, but now I know I was wrong, BIG TIME. You people are probably think i'm lying when i said better than drunken master 2, well i'll proove you wrong. This is a must see, twice as better as fist of legend (the one with Jet Lee). You have to order this movie NOW NOW NOW.
This is probably Sammo Hung's best work before embarking on his ventureto start D&B films. All star cast graces this movie including JackieChan, and Yuen Biao. Other stars reads like who's who of Hong Kongmovie industry of the '80s. Five ex cons and a girl starts a cleaning service. They just try tomake their living, but soon they get involved with local gangsters, bytaking their brief case filled with counterfeit money. What results isa mayhem of trouble and actions relating to the six of them. They findthemselves in all sorts of strange situations, and compromisingpositions, but they use their ingenuity to get the best of thegangsters. It's hard to tell if this is a comedy or an action movie. Most of theactors are not action stars, but regular movie actors, so it's not likeendless action scenes in Jackie Chan's movies. It's more like oldschool Hong Kong comedy with some good actions inserted in between thestory. Some action scenes involving Jackie Chan is a classic, like theone he hangs on to a car wearing his roller skates during a chase. This is one of the classics from the '80s, and is recommended forviewing.
I recently watched 'Winners and Sinners' with some friends when wethought we should celebrate Jackie Chan's birthday. After viewing it,maybe we could have a chosen a movie that featured more Jackie Chan init. Oh well, maybe I'll celebrate Sammo Hung's next birthday (wheneverit may be) by watching 'Around the World in 80 Days'.'Winners and Sinners' is the first 'Lucky Stars' movie. Now 'Twinkle,Twinkle, Lucky Stars' makes a whole lot more sense, even though itsbeen a few years since I've seen it. Five inmates befriend each otherin prison, and when they are released, they form the 'Five StarCleaning Service', only to find themselves in the middle of a Triadwar.'Winners and Sinners' is much more of a Sammo Hung film than a JackieChan film. Sammo directed and starred in this, while Jackie had a minorrole as CID officer. Yuen Biao and Moon Lee even had a short cameo in ascene where Biao and Chan have a short fight. However, most of actionis performed by Hung, and he pulls it off very well.Apart from some entertaining action, 'Winners and Sinners' is one ofthose rather silly Hong Kong comedies that fans of Sammo Hung andJackie Chan - especially their 80s work - should be somewhat familiarwith. Some people will find it funny - I did, but others might not beamused.'Winners and Sinners' is a nicely-done action / comedy, maybe not foreveryone though - 7/10
Jackie Chan plays a cop, but is not the main star of this movie. The main stars are a bunch of Hong Kong comedian/actors who play a group of ex-cons that start a cleaning business together, until the HK triad leaves a briefcase full of counterfeit money and printing plates in their cleaning van during a getaway. That's when the fun starts. The main actor is played by Sammo Hung (yes, the fat guy who can fight), who grew up with Jackie Chan studying kung-fu. He stars with Jackie in some of his classics such as Dragons Forever and Project A.This is one of the funniest HK movies I have ever seen. And although Jackie plays a secondary role, some of the stunts that he pulls are amazing, the best being him rollerskating from one car to another and beneath a moving truck on a crowded highway, which is followed by a 50-car smash-up.A nice addition to any Jackie Chan/HK movie collection. I would give this 4 stars, but I already gave Who Am I? 4 stars, which is obviously much better.
This review is from: Winners and Sinners (DVD) You can't go wrong with an old 80's movie. This movie has it all smart, funny, action, and awesome stunts that will make you say WOW!!It might not show Jackie Chan allot but he sure does some cool stunts.
This is somewhat of a prelude to the lucky stars of the later hit 'Mylucky stars'.Check it out as this is a funny film with a lot of laughs that you willenjoy in a typical Sammo, Jackie Chan film. And yes Jackie is not inthe film for that long, as the main characters are the 5 gang of Sammo,Richard Ng and I can't remember the rest. Its about a gang who just gotout of jail and somehow get themselves involved with some mafia and arebeing chased down by them. But thats towards the end as at the startthey were only just getting to know each other and they start pullingpractical jokes on each other. A good entertaining 80s film highly recommended. Get the DVD digitally remastered version as this contains interviews onthe reflection of Sammo from many people and a face I haven't seen fora long time, Elaine Lui.
Watching "Winners And Sinners" is like going on a treasure hunt: youhave to suffer through a lot of corny, childish comedy to get a fewprizes. The prizes include: Samo Hung's fight scenes, Yuen Biao'sall-too-brief cameo, the long sequence with Jackie Chan that beginswith an exhibition of rollerskating stunts, develops into a furiouschase and ends with perhaps the biggest, most spectacular car pile-upever staged, and the one funny scene with the "Lucky Stars", in whichone of them believes he is invisible(!). This movie is a mixed bag atbest, a scam at worst (for Jackie fans, since the packaging fools theminto thinking that he has a major role). (**)
i laughed, i cheered, i.... only kind of liked it? its the truth. i looovechan, and i like sammo hung and yuen biao, but even as this film strivesforgreatness, it never quite gets there. but i still recommend you see it,because you might like it more than me, cause i had sooo high ofexpectations, and you might not. good clean pretty goodfun.
This review is from: Winners and Sinners (DVD) Oh, I expected to see a little bit more of Jackie Chan in this movie. He is maybe in about one qurter of the movie. I did very much enjoy his acrobatics, besides the martial arts segments. I was happy to see that Yuen Biao had a brief appearance. And yes, I know it is mainly Sammo Hung's movie and the crew was charming. The movie had some martial arts segments, but it's more of a con-comedy. And a scene where about 50 old cars got smashed seemed oh, way too many.
JACKIE IS NOT THE STAR! This film is silly but nice silly, you know? It is about a group of ex-cons who try to go clean after being released from prison.
Jackie Chan, Jackie Chan, Jackie Chan... You Bak Guis didn't get it, did you? This was a Sammo Hung movie and if you were brought up in the 60's, 70's and 80's with the genre you would know that not all Chinese movies are about Jackie Chan, Jackie Chan, Jackie Chan... I am a Jackie Chan fan but I can open my mind to other types of these movies and enjoy the heck out of them. This movie paid tribute to many of the kung fu fighting movies by making a farce of the fighting. Did you guys hear the tribute to Wong Fei Hung. Oh, sorry... Who's Wong Fei Hung? Pick it up, sit down, shut up and enjoy the ride. You'll love this movie.
I first saw this movie years ago on TV when I was pretty young and theentire family was in stitches from laughing so hard. It's full ofpointless almost slapstick humour, but all done in such an entertainingway that it fits in beautifully with the plot. It has one of the besthighway pile-up scenes I've ever seen in a movie, not completelyoverdone like most movies these days but done in a believable and funnyway. Highly recommend this movie to just about anybody. I found the DVDat a rental store years later and took it to a friends's place for aparty and everybody loved it. I'm watching it as I write this review, and my stomach is hurting from laughing so hard.
I have seen this Film about 30 times and I always laugh when I see it everytime! Everytime I watch that movie, I find always something that I've neverrealised that it is there. Mostly there are some small details but I finditvery interesting. I am a fanatic fan of Jackie Chan and so I saw the moviefor the first time because I thought that Jackie Chan will play a greatrolein this movie. The first time I thought that this movie was the worst ofall, because J.Chan had a small role, but after the second time I realisedthat this Film was exactly what a movie can give you to laugh!I like this movie because there are many characters as Samo Hung and so youcan't get bored, because there are many scenes of action and of humor.Everybody who loves Action and Humor must see it.
This film is one of the best films from Jackie Chan. It's a good mixture, comedy and martial arts. The gang in the film is very silly and if you look Jackie Chan films youwill see them again. It's a very good film, you have to see it.
I don't have alot to say but this movie is funny, and you will have smile face when you watch it.
