We have taken some photos of "Warehouse 13 - Season Three". They represent actual movie quality.
When i watched the pilot of this show i thought "wow this has gotpotential" and i've watched every episode of the first 2 seasons now. However, the potential never got fulfilled and not a single episodesince the pilot has been great like the pilot. At it's best it's gotmoments but at its worst.... it's unbearable.More than anything what has worn me out are the 2 main characters Peteand Myka. Why do they have to act like immature teenagers when they arein fact grown-ups? This style works for Artie and Claudia, Claudiaespecially because she IS a teenager and Artie because it just somehowfits him and fits the humorous part of his character. With Pete andMyka doing the same thing it becomes boring. The characters lackcontrast and dynamics because of it. You know what they are going tosay and do before they've done it. The random attempts to build moredepth into the characters is prevented by this failed attempt at comedyand also by writing what feels like random back stories and story linesfor them. The stories point in any and every direction and doesn'tgenerally seem to fit anywhere or have much consequence.Personally i love long, involving story arcs that slowly developscharacters and mythology of the show. This show does seem to attempt itbut it never becomes interesting. Again the writing seems very random.I don't think the writers had any idea where they were going withanything from the beginning.I do want to say something positive. Claudia is actually pretty greatas the slightly insecure teenager with some baggage. I just wish allthe other characters weren't trying to copy her. Artie is great as wellalthough i'm disappointed by the lack of back story on his part. Surelythere must be something there but in 2 seasons now not much has beenrevealed. All in all i think the show has quickly become a parody on itself andthe greatest mystery of it is how in the world it obtained a 7.8 ratinghere at IMDb.
I love Warehouse 13... but why isn't the Christmas episode from Season 1 on the first Season DVD set? I luckily DVR'd Season 2's Christmas episode in case it is not on the Season 2 disk set. However I love the series and will continue watching. I can't wait til it starts up again.
This show is going to prove to be a hit, its original, quirky and drawson success of preceding science fiction hit series, mark your calendarsthis ones for the history books! The characters are original, theconcept is fresh and full of promise. It is about time sci-fi (nowsyfy) came out with a new show like this, judging from the viewernumbers on the premier night, like Eureka it shows promise to be alonger running series, unlike previous blunders like the Dresden Files. As the previous poster indicated, if you like the weirdness of theX-files and the quirky comedy of Eureka, this show is for you, it notonly draws from those two aspects, but as I stated above brings its ownoriginality to the table, which just adds to its allure, hopefully wewill see this last for a few seasons!
I originally was interested in this series because I had heard that Rockne O'Bannon (Farscape and various other scifi shows) was connected with it and that Joanne Kelly "Myka Bering" was in it. I was not disappointed. Sure it's not as deep and dark as Farscape got, but you know what, after watching Farscape (and I LOVE Farscape) I was ready for a fun, lighthearted, let's watch this little family grow up together show. WH13 does this. I love the banter between Pete & Myka and Artie & Claudia. They all work so well together that it is a joy to watch. I've re-watched most of the eps several times over since the show started and even after it finished it's first season run on SyFy. That's how much I love this show.If you're looking for Friday the 13th, X Files, or any other show WH13 has been compared to you'll be disappointed because while it may have similarities to those shows, WH13 IS NOT those shows. Yes the Warehouse is very similar to the one at the end of Indiana Jones and I think this might be one of the many things I LOVE about it.It's fun, quirky and very enjoyable to watch. I can not WAIT for the DVDs. HOWEVER, if they do not include the music from eps 8 "Duped" on the DVDs I may not buy them because that music makes an awesome eps even more awesome!
This review is from: Warehouse 13: Season One (DVD) I have to say, sometimes even the SYFY channel can knock it out of the park. This is a great little show, much like Eureka which I love as well. The premise is that of a government agency that retrieves and stores supernatural items and the problems they run into during the course of the job. The cast is wonderful and appropriately quirky and can pull off drama when needed. Too bad SYFY didn't keep The Dresden Files, it would have worked great with this and Eureka. Looking forward to season 2.
This review is from: Warehouse 13: Season One (DVD) So why did I only give it 4stars. I was personally disappointed with some of the endings. The acting was fabulous. The sets were good. The initial story line was gripping and many of the conclusions were outstanding. But a few of the conclusions left me saying "Huh? Did they run out of money or ideas?" Still I like the series and would be future seasons.
Warehouse 13 is a high concept synthesis of The Librarian, The LostRoom, Ghostbusters, and myriad other shows. It is the kind of bricolagethe SciFi/SyFy/sigh...fie Channel has come to specialize in.The characters and situations stretch suspension of disbelief to thebreaking point. Two supposedly talented federal agents are inexplicablyslow to grasp the magnitude of what they have come into. The curator ofthe warehouse is implausibly ignorant. The whole scenario is amazinglyill-conceived. It is cute, but neither clever nor insightful. Itreminds me of a made for children cartoon: things just happenÂthere isno rhyme or reason to it.Warehouse 13 is not good, but I am going to give it a chance becausethere is nothing else on right now. It could grow on its viewers, butmore likely it will become boring as the weeks and episodes plod onwith wacky magical objects that have to be "snagged, bagged, andtagged".
I watched the pilot and Warehouse 13 has all the elements you wouldwant in a good science fiction series. There is the endless room ofgadgets and trinkets so who knows what they could find. There is astory for each character, with a history that is slowly to be revealed. Its possible to have a new twist every week which is all you ask for.Its well written and the characters are likable. And there is comedyand snappy dialogue to make it a touch edgy. I especially liked theoffer of cookies to come inside the warehouse. The main character, whois a first leery, jumps right at that in a very funny way. If you likedthe X-Files weirdness and Eureka's comedy, this is for you.
i am sick of production companies filming in Canada. they transport acouple of u.s. leads north of the border, and fill out the rest of thecast with Canadian filler. the result is not a u.s. production with alot of Canadians, but a Canadian production with a few Americans.maybe you can't tell the difference in accent, demeanor and ambiance, but i can. it ain't American and it feels like a cheap copy every time.and the worst part is that Hollywood is starving because of it. in thesame way that shipping manufacturing jobs overseas destroys thatAmerican workforce, shipping media production jobs north is starvingand eliminating the core of professionals who survive on t.v. gigs. andthe result is that sometime in the future, TV series will be forced tofilm in Canada, because the crew needed to support numerous TV showswill be gone.plus, the show stinks.
Take a little bit of the X-Files, sprinkle in a bit of Friday the 13th:The Series, add in some top notch performances from a cast led by thealways impressive Saul Rubinek and CCH Pounder and you get a show thatI always look forward to and never miss. The banter and sexual tension between Pete and Myka is well handled andnever over the top. They really have a great chemistry, although Ithought Myka was a bit chilly in the first few episodes, that seems tobe slowly changing. They very much remind me of Mulder and Scully.A newer addition is Allison Scagliotti as Claudia, a charming geek inresidence, who has an exceptional emotional range that belies heryouth.Another "reviewer" here felt that the show was made for and targeted toa juvenile audience, but as a middle-aged sci-fi fan, I can tell younothing is further from the truth. Just because a show isn't "doom andgloom" every week doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable for a broadaudience.Don't take my word for it, though. Check out this show when you get achance. You won't disappointed!
I don't know if it is the actors or the directing, but the actingdelivery is stilted and there's no chemistry between the actors. Thisshow has an awful lot of potential, but there are too many littlemistakes and too many outlandishly ridiculous sequences to make itbelievable. I can't remember the exact scenes to give you an example,so just imagine one of the characters: ducking too late; shootingaround a corner with a weapon that isn't designed to do that; gettingto a location way too fast and not having a device to give them thatcapability; the view on the videophone looks off; etc... Just watch ashow and you'll see at least 1 ridiculous mistake in each scene.I love a good, believable sci-fi story. Star Trek TNG and itssuccessors are perfect examples. This show isn't even as good asCharmed, which I loved even though it was based on sexual appeal, baddirecting, and mediocre dialog.
I have like the show the last three seasons, but episode two introducesa new homosexual character. I am sick of hearing about nearly every newshow introducing such a character, I have yet in my 24 years of life toactually come across more than three such people. All these shows seemto be ruining it for family's to watch, I do not want my children tosee such things nor hear such things. Of course the way Hollywood playsit off it is normal, but to the average person it is not.. hence why itis illegal still in most states. I really hope we can get back toquality programming and just not mention anything at all about any"politically correct" bull crap.
I always look forward to watching Warehouse 13. It's a mix ofadventure, mystery, and comedy, with elements of X-Files, Fringe,Moonlighting, The Librarian, 24, and Unsolved Mysteries. It's refreshing that they don't take themselves too seriously, and yetit's filled with fast-paced action and dialogue, and a great variety ofcharacters. The discussions about the artifacts are always interestingand comical. The actors are awesome, eg., chemistry between Pete andMyka is excellent (even if Jack's dialogue is occasionally a bitjuvenile - they need to fix that), and Claudia and Artie are wonderful.Mrs. Frederic and HG Wells also add some depth, although it would benice if they did more with Leena.Really, I don't know why this wasn't picked up by a mainstream network, because we need more shows like this.
I gave this series a chance because the idea was dreamed up by Jane Espenson, who wrote so many wonderful scripts for Buffy. After seeing the finished product, I assume she simply passed on the idea and left the development to others - because this has none of the wit, charm and style I associate with her writing. First problem: the characters with the most screen time are annoying in the extreme. It seems that every series must now have a man and woman who perpetually snark at each other, with underlying sexual tension, in the hopes of keeping viewers hanging in for the moment when they tear each other's clothing off - after which said viewers will all go away, never to watch again. This is surely the most tired trope in existence. It was great when it was Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell in My Girl Friday, but that was really because the actors and the script were legendary. Now it's just sad that writers believe that every show must have two characters who argue constantly. In this case, it's particularly annoying since the sniping is not witty, and feels so very contrived. Must every show be for adolescents or, worse, 40 year old adolescents? Second problem: Clumsy exposition, in which the woman agent must explain to the man agent every reference that goes back more than two weeks since, apparently, he never had no schoolin' and don't know nothin' about nothin'. Ok, he's dim. Why should we be subjected to ongoing attempts to educate someone who has managed to reach maturity without knowing much more than my four year old niece? I frequently find myself cringing with embarrassment while watching these characters - not a feeling I enjoy overly much. Cultivated stupidity really is not appealing.Third problem: Weak stories that are poorly written, flat and predictable, with no real story arc and no discernible ideas. The predictability alone isn't enough to sink them, but the fact that there's no intrinsic interest to be found in the "magical" objects, or the utterly forgettable characters, or the plot, leaves little to hope for. Having said this, there's Saul Rubinek, who is a delightful actor and always worth watching. I don't believe he can carry this show by himself, however, since the other two main characters have so much screen time in which to act stupid and make faces at each other. Have I mentioned they both have the most annoying facial mannerisms? Someone may think their grimacing endearing (to each his own) but I think it's idiotic and there's a limit to how much of that kind of thing I can tolerate. There's one more thing that might incline people to give this show a chance: the wonderful steampunk look of the devices that have been built (obviously very lovingly) for the agents' use both in and outside the Warehouse. They're delightful but, again, not likely to be enough to keep viewers tuned in. I'm not one of those people who give a new show only one chance to hook me. I don't think that's fair. But this show has a lot going against it, most particularly the boring scripts that are devoid of ideas, and the infantile main characters and their strange facial antics, so it's unlikely that I'll be tuned in much beyond the first season.
The cast of characters is well developed, there is excellent chemistryamong them all, and the script writing lends favor to each actor'sstrengths. Very witty and some very funny hidden gems (for example, onetime when Pete Lattimer was signing off after using an over-sizedvideo-phone communicator, he says "Kirk out!") and of course the sexualtension between the two Secret Service agents is classic and wellbalanced. I LOVE the whiz-kid Claudia! She absolutely nails her rolesublimely. The character Artie (Brainy Warehouse overseer)is the onlyweak link, in my opinion. He seems, with deference paid to his role, too flighty and distracted to be in charge of what could easily betermed "The Achilles Heel of Humanity", or...Warehouse 13 and its crazycontents. Incidentally, the story is loosely based on a similar seriescalled "Friday the 13th: The Series" where cursed antiques from a shopcalled "Curious Goods" were retrieved by two 20-something champions, guided by the sage-like "Uncle" who ran the shop. Overall, BIG thumbsup tho.
warehouse is a fun show, with a good cast and very good ideas in eachepisode.. artifacts make the show really watchable because except themystery there is lots of adventure.. there's just one problem with thisshow some cast is from the eureka which is also a sci-fi show, and italso uses some stuff from eureka.. it is not a copy of eureka but stillsome ideas are stolen. this is kind of logical because some of thecreators are same as the eureka. also the only thing that reallybothers me is that Pete Lattimer is like booth from the show bones! heis the same that only thing thats not the same is the colourful socksthat booth wears.same expressions same voice same movement pff! butthat doesn't mean that Pete is really cute and a good actor
Honestly I don't see how this show has any reviews over 3 stars. First of all it is completely ridiculous, but not in any kind of humorous or witty way, just really stupid. The characters are incredibly boring, one of the main characters basically acts like a poorly portrayed child, the others aren't too bad, just not that interesting. The plot of the show itself could do a lot.. but it doesn't. Instead of unraveling a mystery behind the objects, it just shrugs it off and basically says who knows, who cares. And just about every famous person they can think of in history they just say it belonged to them, not adding this to overall the plot or anything. And the "villain" kind of has no real back story, just some guy that used to work there randomly screwing with them. The show is about a couple people that seem to have no clue how to do their job nearly getting themselves killed every episode trying to place random objects in a vat of goo and store it in a warehouse.
As a student of both American history and technology, I was naturallyexcited to begin following "Warehouse 13" with its two-hour Pilot. Tothis point, with only four episodes to go, I can say with confidencethat my expectations have been well and truly met. Having never been afan of "Friday the 13th" or other, similar, television shows, I beganthis mini-career of being a Warehouse fanatic with no expectations. It has definitely succeeded, thus far, in capturing my attention and intransforming me into a "Warehouse fanatic". Yes, I like the irasciblebut friendly genius which is Artie. Yes, I like the cyberpunk womanchild of Claudia. Yes too, I like both Myka and Pete, even if I mustagree with some who have found Myka's somewhat dour attitude ( as acharacter ) to be off-putting. She is definitely the brainiac careerwoman with emotional baggage, and we-the-fans will have to wait and seeif this can carry her as a character for the rest of the season.Every real and effective fiction has to create and then show how eventsserve to transform the characters who experience them, and so far, itseems like "Pete" [ Eddie McClintock ] has been growing inside thestory lines. "Myka" on the other hand, seems stuck on being stuck up.Perhaps that is the concept that the series creators wanted to create, and if so, they have done that exactly. After all that has happened inthe fiction, Myka still does not seem to want the job, even if she isreally very good at it. We know she had a terrible emotional loss, butas fans we are wondering if she can just "get over herself" and soon. "Duped," the most recent installment, lays that concept out in a mostunmistakable fashion. Then again, plot must always require conflict andone senses there will be a resolution to this internal conflict withinMyka at some point, probably soon, and if not then definitely inside ofSeason Two. Good going so far, and therefore this "Warehouse" gets tenstars of ten for every episode, from this fan, or fanatic.
Okay, Warehouse 13! Well, what can I say? It's officially my favorite show ever! And I have watched a lot of Sci-fi series, believe me. The only thing that I can think of to complain about with this series is that the visual effects aren't always that great, but the story, characters, and witty dialouge more than compensate for that. Also, in case nobody else has mentioned this, Warehouse 13 is also a great family show. There are a few moments that could be scary for little kids, but nothing horribly violent, innapropriate, or gory. It's just a great show, and even if you end up disagreeing I hope you'll at least give it a try. Please? :)
This series seems to take its premise from two sources, thejuxtaposition of the dichotomy of two FBI agents with certainidiosyncrasies mostly obviously presented in well received televisionseries The X-Files and Bones and the more mysterious elements ofscience fiction, very well depicted in the Sci Fi series, The Lost Room(2006). Warehouse 13 is an uneven mix of comedy and drama betterbalanced in the one season series Human Target (2010) and otherwell-known series such as Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Ally McBeal.Warehouse 13 scriptwriters seem almost desperate to appeal to thebrainless audience with its supposedly wicked humor which almost becomea stupid parody while also attempting an appeal to the more cerebralwith its dazzling, off-balance sci fi items with mysterious powers. Thewarehouse itself seems ludicrous and some of the scenes seem prettyloose and tailored more for the scriptwriter's convenience rather thanthe technical tightness of the FBI protocol, losing some of itsintegrity. Warehouse 13 though at times has its powerful emotionalmoments and its creatively bizarre scenes that do dazzle. Overall,Warehouse is a mixed bag and not quite as sophisticated and qualityminded as its predecessors, yet it has its moments and bursts ofentertainment. Reviewed 11/25/11. 7/10.
