Wallace and his dog, Gromit has built up a very respectable business which prevents any pests from destructing the vegetables of the village, but when a creature, only described as the were-rabbit, rampages through the village, all eyes are on Wallace. After hearing his plan, the villagers are on his side, expect one man. Victor Quartermaine feels threatened by Wallaces relationship with his fianc
Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit". They represent actual movie quality.
In one word: Excellent! I'm a sucker for stop-motion animation, andthis movie takes the cake. For the uninitiated, Wallace & Gromit tellsthe tale of a wacky inventor and his faithful dog, who is a highlyintelligent mutt that can walk on his hind legs and operate variouscontraptions. In the Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Wallace & Gromit protect the town'sannual vegetable growing contest by ridding the town's rabbit problem(oh, so cute, you wanna give them a carrot to chew on). However, theirhumane techniques of capturing these critters, especially the loadsfrom Lady Tottington (Helena Bonham Carter, straight from another stopmotion pic The Corpse Bride), led them to a storage problem.Wallace comes up with a hare-brained (pardon the pun) idea ofbrainwashing the rabbits into becoming non-vegetarians led to amysterious appearance of a king-sized rabbit haunting the populace, andit's up to our favourite man-dog team to return things back to normal, while fending off the competition from a certain Victor Quartermaine(Ralph Fiennes), a poke at a certain Alan Quartermaine. While the storyline's pretty straightforward, and the mystery of theWere-Rabbit would've been a non-event for most moviegoers, what makesthis movie enjoyable is the intricate details of the plasticine used inmaking the characters and town come alive. What works is not pretendingto tell a very intelligent story, but one that is simple, accessibleand therefore, entertaining. And THE character that steals the show isGromit, given quite a bit of screen time and involved in pretty muchall the action sequences. Kudos too to the filmmakers for refusing tobudge to recast the voice of Wallace. You must watch this, and I'd give it thumbs up as the animation of theyear contender! P.S. attached to this picture is a short clip from the Penguins ofMadagascar. I thought it was pretty hilarious too, and those dudescertainly deserve a picture of their own.
Wallace, and the longsuffering Gromit have started on a new career, humane pest (rabbit) control. Wallace's love of gadgetry, and Gromit's intelligent hard work have combined to make the business a success, but with the Tottington Hall vegetable competition coming up, our heroes will have to work extra hard to keep the little varmints in check. However, when a voracious were-rabbit hits the scene, their powers will be tested to the limit...and beyond! Billed as the world's first vegetarian horror movie, this movie contains all of the English charm and wit that you have come to expect from Nick Park and Aardman Animations. Indeed, this movie is extremely funny and a real joy for children of all ages! I loved the older Wallace & Gromit shorts, and I found this full-length movie to be even better. So, if you are a fan of that great British comedy, or just love a good laugh, then you will love this movie. I give it my absolute highest recommendations. Buy it today!
In the words of the British, THIS IS RUBBISH!!! Terrible Movie clay cartoons are gross go rent a CGI movie before you buy this garbge.Writty By Dave.
How could you not like this movie? It was a great movie! I love the humor and the characters are out of the ordinary, but that's what makes this movie unique! Grommit doesn't even need to speak to let you know what he is thinking or what he WOULD say if he had a mouth. It was great, I am buying the DVD as soon as it is released.
I was going to see Wallace and gromit the curse of the were rabbit andi knew it would SUCK SO MUCH! Lots of people think its funny but it ispointless crap about a stupid weird accent dumbass Wallace who becomesa were rabbit. Was the lighting part funny? Nope. Was the naked partfunny? Nope. SEE, NOTHINGS FUNNY IN THIS FILM!!!!!!! How can the peoplerun away from a giant rabbit and why cant there be a were wolf? Who hasever heard Little cute rabbits howl like a wolf. It is dumb how thebastard becomes a were rabbit. Cant it be a failed experiment becauserabbits in the Brian is gay. My dad hated it, my sister loved it but mymum never saw the stupid film. God that movie ticked me off, brove!GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY BACK BECAUSE THIS FILM IS CRAP AND SO IT TickedME OFF! Stupid flipping film. I give this a 1 out of 10 because theonly part that made me laugh was that everyone talking aboutlemons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wallace & Gromit - The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is just plain old clean fun that the entire family will enjoy. The story concerns Wallace and his dog Gromit, who live in a village obsessed with growing large vegetables for the annual fair and they operate a humane solution pest solution. When Wallace tried to change the rabbits so they don't like vegetables, the plan backfires and creates a monster. The movie is very entertaining. I really enjoyed Gromit, although he never speaks, his facial expressions are funny as heck. I am 28, and i enjoyed this movie. I would highly reccomend it for anyone, and it is something the entire family can enjoy.
I can't remember the last time I fell so head-over-heels in love with a movie! "Curse of the Were-Rabbit" was my first experience with Wallace & Gromit, as I have never seen one of their shorts..but I am HOOKED! The wonderful, original storyline, the over exaggerated features of the characters, the colors, the scenes---GENIUS. And down right HILARIOUS! This movie is not just for kids. Parents that take their kids will probably get more enjoyment out of it, as some of the humor will fly over kids heads. Nick Park, in my opinion, has a msaterpiece on his hands & a bonafide Oscar.
I enjoyed it. In the way "Chicken Run" spoofed WW II escape films, this film spoofs classic "B-picture" horror films. I enjoyed Chicken Run more than this film--primarily because I'm not a fan of horror films. Even though I'm not a horror film fan, I still enjoyed spotting the many references found in this inventive picture. The clay animation is very good. Although, at times the suspension of disbelief was broken and I found myself thinking of the characters as clay figures. This may have been do to the size of the large movie screen, which allowed me to see tiny details that would not be apparent in video. When you see the film, you might enjoy it more if you sit further back in the theater. The dialog and printed text is quite clever. There are many puns and "in-the-know" jokes. The humor is mostly "family oriented", with only a few "adult" jokes that will be over the heads of smaller children. Some jokes are based on references to the previous Wallace and Gromit short films.Do to the horror film theme, small children may find some of the scenes frightening. Violence includes use of a gun and sharp objects (pitchforks, etc.).In conclusion, if you like spoofs, and especially if you would like to see a spoof of classic horror films, then I recommend that you see this film.
I am rating this movie a 6 out of total respect for the craft of thismovie, and its visual perfection in an agonizing production process. Ialso love the characters and their innocence. It's nice to have a moviewhere you can just sit back with the family and chuckle a little bitand not have to worry about violence or death (a frequent Disney/HarryPotter/Lemony Snickets etc issue). This movie is cute and fun.However... Our family were HUGE fans of the earlier W&G half-hourmovies, especially The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave. I went with mywife and twin 7 year-old boys with high hopes. They LOVED those earliermovies and we saw them many times. IN COMPARISON, I found this movie...slow and bland. It lacks the frenetic, intense pace of the shorterfilms. It also seemed as if it lost something with the perfection. Those earlier films had a choppiness to them, and an imperfection thatadded to the experience. In movie form, everything was so POLISHED thatit took away from the feeling of chaos, conflict and comic danger. Also, and this may be a significant part of our disappointment - thestory and character development were off. The love interest was bland, and we've seen her before with the owner of the yarn shop from A CloseShave (a much more interesting character, I thought). The hunter wasalso bland and only mildly amusing. Silly and stupid, and not a realthreat at all, especially when compared to much more interesting andintelligent villains as The Penguin (The Wrong Trousers) and the evildog (A Close Shave).Do I respect this movie and what it represents? ABSOLUTELY!!! Did our family laugh out loud throughout the movie, and walk out of thetheater saying "that was great, we have to see it again!!".... Sadly, the answer is NO.I believe many of the reviews of this movie are based on sheer respectof its art... yet if one is honest, one may find themselves wishing fora better storyline, characters and conflict. My opinion, nothing more.
Aardman Animation Studio's "Wallace & Gromit" feature, "The Curse ofthe Were-Rabbit" was five years in the making. Now that it's finallyhere, everyone who sees it will agree, it was well worth the wait! Thebeloved duo is back again: Wallace, the flaky cheese-loving inventor, and his brilliant dog Gromit, have a new business. They run a humaneservice to rid gardens of pests. But Wallace's attempts at scientificrehab of rabbits causes him to create a monster. The movie shows thecharm and humor we've come to expect from Nick Park. There are lots ofsight gags to keep the eyes busy. The humor appeals to all ages(although a few Benny Hill-type gags are more for adults). In the end,it's another triumph for Nick Park and his creations.
First, of course I have to review "Madagascar: Penguins ChristmasCapers".The short starring the war penguins from Madagascar, I thought, wasactually a lot better than the pointless and annoying actual film,"Madagascar". It dealt with one of the penguins going out to buy thelonely polar bear a gift for Christmas, and the other penguins have tofind him. They end up stuck in a house with an old lady and anextremely viscous dog. I actually thought it was pretty well done, andamusing at times, but I didn't actually like most of the penguin'svoices. My rating-2 1/2 out of 4 stars. Running time:11 minutes. Now the actual movie.stars: Peter Sallis, Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter. The fourth installment of the Wallace and Grommit adventures and thefirst full length one turns out to be really great. It deals withWallace and Grommit and their new bunny catching job (their name isAnti-Pesto). The two go to rich Lady Tottington's house and catch allof her rabbits and Wallace becomes infatuated. He gets so annoyed athow the rabbits are all over, that he uses an invention where therabbits will have his brain pattern and like cheese and such. Ofcourse, this makes him a were-rabbit and makes another rabbit turnslowly into Wallace. Very good and great animation. Even with thatsaid, this is not my favorite of the cartoons. It is still sweet andgreat though and I recommend it highly! My rating- 3 1/2 out of 4stars. Running Length-79 minutes.
This film though very English/British in its nature should appeal toeveryone - where ever they reside. This has to be the best film so farthis year and it had me rolling in the aisles. It's the little thingsyou have to look for i.e. the jar of 'middle aged spread', the 'Hello'type magazine entitled 'Aye Up' and the Latin name for the Loch Nessmonster 'Touristus Trappus' (I think) and there's probably loads that Imissed. The star definitely has to be Gromit - though they only haveeyes and a nose to work with you know instantly what his feelings are -whether it be sad, happy or just plain exasperated with Wallace. Thisfilm is a rare treat - one that can be enjoyed by both adults andchildren. Superb!!
I have always been a fan of the Wallace & Gromit shorts because they are so clever. So when the movie came out I was excited about the seeing the crazy duo in action on a full length picture, and they did not disappoint. It is a great story for young people and adults alike. The story while simple is very cleverly told and the characters are portrayed well, and I truly laughed from beginning to end.My favorite character in the movie has to Gromit. This dog says a lot with out saying a word. You won't hear one word come from this dog through the whole movie, yet through his expressions (especially his eyes) you seem to know exactly what he is saying, and at times even what he's thinking.****And for me the best thing about this DVD is the extras. Everybody that watches a Wallace & Gromit flick or Chicken run wonder how exactly do they do that. And in the extras they show you, and it really is pretty cool to watch. I was really suprised how long it takes to make a scene come together. You will really like the story, and you will love the extras especially the making of and the shorts mixed in for good measure.
Our whole family enjoys this movie. We can't wait for the next outing of Wallace and Gromit....5-6 years? Too long. "Oh, I do love a bit of Gorgonzola!"
Who can ask for more? Taking my 2 and 4 year old children was a risk, Iadmit. But well worth it. They were enthralled from credit to credit, with their parents beside them.I have taken the kids to films before with mixed results: too scary, too boring, too sophisticated, whatever. With this film, however, I wasglad to see a smart film with wit, style and a sense of passionemanating from the screen. Any film that takes 5(!) years of productionto make, good or bad, deserves some respect for the bravery and thepatience it takes to film a film like this.O.K. I'm gushing a little. Then again, why wouldn't I get excited?Looking through the movie listing today only reminded me of the poorquality of films that are distributed. At least for the momentRegardless, W & G is a film well made. Perhaps the originality wasn'tthe most inspired, nevertheless, well told and well paced.Too much adult humour? Too many sex references? Maybe. Though my kidsdidn't quite catch them. Too young. So, in my case, I didn't reallynotice.Well, needless to say, I liked it.
Why are so many people rating this so highly?!? Can't you peopleremember what Wallace and Gromit used to be like!?!As soon as I'd finished watching this I had to rush home and re-watchthe previous two adventures, just to restore the balance in my head ofwhere W&G lie on the scale of quality film making! Back in "The WrongTrousers" and "A Close Shave" things were done very differently:characters' personalities weren't dumbed-down and overly-simplified toappeal to the moronic mass market and humour was a lot moresubtle...and FUNNY! The older films were incredibly good at creating acompelling atmosphere (with such short time-frames!) This film had mepleading for the end very early on. Worst of all, back in the previousworks there were scenes with such exquisite build-up of action - layerupon layer of excitement crafted so beautifully that it made me want tohug people! Curse of the Were-Rabbit falls so far short of generatingthese emotions within me, I may have to conclude once and for all thatthere is no God!...and the sex jokes???????
BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR I will take all my friends to go and see thismovie. It is a masterpiece of comedy and animation. I live in a smalltown in Ohio and the theater was full and everyone applauded at theend. I have always loved Wallace and Gromit films but I did not expectto be this blown away by the film. I also heard children openlylaughing and clapping throughout the film. It is appropriate andenjoyable for all ages. After watching the film, I immediately wantedto see it again to catch everything I probably missed the first timeconsidering it is so full of action and jokes and hilarity. I awaitwith major anticipation the next W and G movie!!!
This review is from: Wallace & Gromit - The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Full Screen Edition) (DVD) We bought this movie because my son lost the one we borrowed from a friend. After we received the movie, we found the lost one. So, now we own it. I wasn't too enthused about buying this movie but when we watched it, I actually enjoyed it. It is quite humorous and clean.
Like many folks, I loved the Wallace and Gromit shorts. I especiallythought "The Wrong Trousers" was a stroke of brilliance. It went in somany different, unpredictable directions in a short amount of time. That's what was missing from this movie, I felt. The formula-basedstory was a shock to me, and I was waiting the entire movie for atwist, or at least something odd.I struggled with the length of the movie in terms of the story - itdidn't support 1 hour 40 minutes. I would have preferred a shorter 1hour story and perhaps 2 shorter 20 minute deals.Technically, Wallace and Gromit had a lot of the charming attention todetail that you would come to expect from Nick Park. Seeing it on thebig screen really made the fingerprints stand out, especially onGromit. But who cares? It's plasticine, after all. For me, it's alwaysrefreshing to see a stop-motion film. It's all tangible and real, fromthe sets to the props to the characters and special effects. Plus, itcan be real fun to watch for the tricks.
...and tumble, and turn, and suspend in mid-air like a lithe feather? I stared in awe at this, wondering how they could have possibly done that. Imagine the camerawork involved. It's possible they could have simply plugged an image into a computer and manipulated it with their CGI programs, but I choose to remain blissfully ignorant of the whole process. For once I'm so enamored that I don't want to know how they did it.When you get the DVD, which you will because it is that brilliant, you have to pause it at some point and look at a character's face up-close. What are you looking for? Fingerprints. The fingerprints of the claymation artists who move the figurines one frame at a time. These people deserve medals for bravery, or patience, or madness. Heck all three!I have to confess at this point that I'm a Wallace & Gromit poser; but I do know what a gromit is because I work on my own cars, you have to give me that. I've never seen anything else with Wallace & Gromit except "Curse of the Were-Rabbit." Lord help me, I love them both. It's such a good-natured, joyful little film, and it will satisfy you on just about every level you can think of. You will be entertained, you will laugh, you will feel pathos, you will care about the characters, and you will find some kind of itching deep down where you might wonder about your own world. Ah ha! What a good movie should do!The plot is thus; Wallace and his trusty sidekick dog Gromit are independent pest removers (read; rabbits), who go about the town removing the little bushy-tailed pests from the gardens of the neighborhood. Business is good; the annual Vegetable Show is coming up, and everyone wants to be prepared. One night, a huge Were-Rabbit thunders through town, uproots everyones' gardens, and Wallace & Gromit catch heat because they weren't around to stop it.In the meantime, Lady Tottington's grounds have been overrun with rabbits as well, suddenly. She hires Wallace and Gromit to come remove them, but not before encountering Victor Quartermaine, whose solution to the problem is to shoot them all one by one. Wallace's approach is capture and relocation, a much more humane strategy. Quartermaine turns his nose up at the idea, and so would only the hardest-hearted person in the audience. Now just wait a minute. Where are the explosions? Where is the altruistic message? Where is the protagonist with an agonizing past? Where is the sexy heroine who gives it her all? Where are the multi-billion dollar effects that blow you out of your seat? Where are the Yen Wo Ping choreographed fights? Where oh where are the beautiful actors and actresses to strut about the screen flashing their beauty at us from such lofty heights? You get the idea. You get none of that. In fact, you'll be amazed at how much fun you can have when your senses aren't being bombarded at every moment with some ideal form of beauty, some super-violent fist-fight, or some hair-brained CGI effect that takes up the entire shot. And you'll also be amazed at how easily it all puts a smile on your face. You see, I think this movie is so magnificent, so touching, so simple and refreshing, that if you don't come away from it feeling light-hearted and hopeful, then you truly are a Morlock. Go hang with Victor Quartermaine.
