A Hollywood-set romantic tale of a guy who is content to live his life without a job yet with the love of his life, a young actress.

We have taken some photos of "Waiting for Forever". They represent actual movie quality.
I got a chance to see Waiting for Forever at the Nashville FilmFestival last weekend and it was amazing! A truly original love storythat was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The whole cast arecharming in their roles and everyone picked seemed perfect for theirparts. Tom Sturridge and Rachel Bilson had wonderful chemistry as thetwo lead characters and Sturridge's performance as the eccentric andlovable Will Donner would make any girl alright with being followedaround the country :)Richard Jenkins and Blythe Danner are hilarious asEmma's (Bilson's) parents, along with many other wonderful supportingcharacters. Great soundtrack as well! One of my favorites at thefestival this year; I highly recommend this film! Go see it!
A refreshingly original love story, Waiting For Forever, which wasrecently released on DVD and Blu-Ray, is a sweet and sappy film withsuperb performances from a talented cast. The film's main charactersare archetypal enough to give the story the sweet romantic atmosphereromantic movie viewers have come to love yet the characters have enoughquirky and unique characteristics to make the movie relatable andoriginal. The movie features a down-on-her-luck TV actress who visits her dyingfather and finds herself romantically pursued by her childhood friend.Although she lost touch with her childhood best friend Will long ago,he never forgot her. After she helped Will through a difficult time inhis life, he dedicated all of his time and effort to finding her. Thefilm contrasts Emma's struggle with life's burden and Will's idealisticand optimistic view that the two will be together. Will's unrelenting pursuit of the love of his life, Emma, unnerves someviewers due to their belief that he is a stalker. However, when hisdifficult childhood (which is explained in the movie) is considered, itis clear that Will did not emotionally mature in the same way Emma did,and he lives in a blissfully optimistic, and somewhat ignorant world inwhich love is not only the prevailing emotion, but the reason for lifeitself. The movies departure from archetypal and stereotypicalcharacters and themes keeps it refreshingly fresh and keeps the viewerfocused on the harsh divide between the realities of adult life and theinnocent ideals of youth. The film's primary drawback is its tendency to become melodramatic attimes  as is expected with the romantic genre (even in a completelyoriginal screenplay). These melodramatic scenes detract slightly fromthe realism of the movie, but not to a large enough extent to weakenthe movie's quality or message substantially.
It is very unfortunate to know that this movie is hated by critics. Ihave been living in India and I know what kind of a movie should becalled a bad movie. I never heard much about the movie because there isno promotion of this movie what so ever in my part of the world....Butit surely came to me as a surprise. Both the actors worked pretty well. Tom Sturridge has a potential to bea very good actor. He played his role very well and his expressionswere outstanding. There was no point in the movie where i could findhis skills go blunt.Rachel Bilson--We always knew a bit of her after she appeared in How Imet your Mother for a couple of episodes and she seemed pretty andcute. She carried her pretty smile and nice acting in this movie too.At some places, her acting suffered but I won't blame her for that asher co-actor was wonderful. She played her part brilliantly and 95minutes passed away. The only reason I didn't give a 10 to this movie is that it didn't showtoo much of the couple. They had their share of scenes separately butthey should have been together in more scenes as their chemistry wasblossoming. On and all...its a 9/10 for sure and it is a mice cute love story withmeaningful dialogues.
I have to say that it came as a shock that Waiting For Forever was anACTUAL, REAL LIFE, love story. The movie itself kept me hanging on tothe tail end of every scene, waiting to see what would happen next. Allin one sitting, I smiled with heartfelt happiness, I became filled withanger, and I cried uncontrollably with feeling of deep sorrow. This iswhat TRUE LOVE does to us as people, and I must say that this moviecaptured the very essence of it...If I could, I would take a group of my closest friends to see thismovie. It's definitely a great conversation piece. The vividimagination of the director is clearly represented throughout, capturing not only your attention, but focus on detail as well. I wouldsee this movie ten times again...MUST SEE - GREAT LOVE STORY!
This review is from: Waiting For Forever (Amazon Instant Video) I just wasted 4 bucks and almost 2 hours of my life I can't get back. I am definately adding this to my list of top 10 worst movies of all time. Don't watch this unless you like weird akward movies. It's not even a romantic movie. Emma is fairly normal but depressed and Will is happy but coo coo. He talks to himself and stocks Emma. I cringed watching this. I was bored and/or weirded out the whole time. I kept watching and waiting for it to get better, since I spent money, but nope! It never got better.
A unique love story about friendship and a view of the world fromdifferent perspectives, Waiting for Forever explores the connectionspeople make in the face of life's changes. Best friends while they weregrowing up, Emma (Rachel Bilson) and Will (Tom Sturridge) lost touch along time ago-as far as she knows. To Will, Emma never stopped beingthe most important person in his life. Believing them to be foreverlinked, he goes wherever she goes. Will doesn't have a home, a car, ora "real" job. He survives on his talent as a juggler andentertainer-talents honed through years of showing off for Emma. Whenher father gets sick, Emma returns to their hometown, trying to leavebehind her complicated love life and failing career as a TV actress. Will follows her and decides to once and for all talk with Emma abouthis feelings.Waiting for forever is a sweet little independent film. Perfect towatch with your girlfriend or boyfriend, it's probably a great choicefor a first date but it's not much more then that. I kept waiting forthe story to took off, for the film to get real and deep, profound butit never happened. It's a very simplistic story and although it isentertaining and moves at a good pace there's never real insight intothe characters. In fact, most characters are two-dimensional.As for the acting, nothing outstanding here but overall satisfactory.Rachel Bilson's acting skills are very limited but she always does anOK job. On the other hand,Tom Sturridge was great. His character wasnot an easy one but he played it very well. Again, the script is toblame for the character's flaws because as far as the way the role wasplayed, it couldn't have been better. Richard Jenkins and Blythe Dannerdid the best they could with what they were given. I should alsomention the soundtrack which was very good and fitting. Overall, it's asweet little love story but you shouldn't watch this film with highexpectations.6.5/10
awesome movie. i loved it. It was nothing i expected from a movie ihave never herd of. amazing most people should know about this movie. It is just too sweet and lovely.
This movie was really good and doesn't unfold like any of the chickflicks I've ever seen. The story is completely different and it isn'tmeant to portray how love is "supposed" to happen- in fact, the wholemovie is about being different from how everyone thinks you should be.While Rachel's acting wasn't top-notch at times, the story completelymakes up for it. It was just so heartwarming and really makes you longfor that time in your childhood when everything was just that simpleand you believed that love really does come that easy. I cried througha good part of the film because it really makes you want everything towork out for someone with such a kind heart. Definitely a favorite :)
"Waiting for Forever" held it's World Premiere at the Santa BarbaraInternational film festival in February and since then it as been at ahost of festivals. I just attended a premiere screening at the Gen ArtFilm Festival on Thursday April 8, 2010 in New York City. In theaudience sat the director James Keach, writer Steve Adams and severalactors and actresses from the film including Rachel Bilson, TomSturridge, and Blythe Danner. Below is what I thought of the film andhow it ranked compared to films similar to its own genre. The basic premise of "Waiting for Forever" is about a guy named Will(Tom Sturridge) who has been in love with his best friend Emma (RachelBilson) ever since they were little. This is his story aboutconfronting the woman he loves and what it took for him to finally dothat. Why he has fallen head over heels for this woman is discussed inthe film, as well as the battle of how hard it is sometimes to behonest with the people you love. A somewhat touching yet average filmensues...Reading the premise above you're probably thinking to yourself, I haveseen this film a million times before so why in gods name should Idevote 2 hours of my life to this film? I wish I could honestly tellyou a good reason because just as it attempts to be different, its dullstoryline tends to get in its way. The reason why Will loves Emma isdefinitely interesting and unique, however, the rest of the film isnot. The movie comes off as your typical friend loves friend storyline. The film even tries to throw in sub relationship story lines such asthe parents relationship played by the talented Blythe Danner andRichard Jenkins but that subplot just bored me. The storyline doesn'treally cash in on how unique the film could be but instead takes theeasy way out and therefore just leaves you saying been there, donethat.Tom Sturridge puts on his best "Benny & Joon" impression and does itwell. He is probably the most likable character in the film. Sadlyabout half way through the film his character seems to stop growing soeven Will becomes dull but he definitely did a good job with thematerial he had to work with. Rachel Bilson, who is definitely a goodlooking woman, does alright here. I hate to say it but I just don'tthink she has real star power, at least not yet. She does a good enoughjob for Emma at least for a film of this caliber. Richard Jenkins andBlythe Danner are OK but since they are more established actors both ofthem have done better films in the past. Like I said they do OK here.As I said even the acting was average. In conclusion there isn't really much to say about this film...it'syour typical love story with a little bit of an interesting story mixedin. The story wears off quickly as the viewer is hoping to seesomething more out of the ordinary but just gets what would be expectedfrom a film like this. This movie isn't worth a trip to the multiplex, probably not even worth a DVD rental to be fair. I would say this isone of those films that you catch on cable one day and just don'texpect much from it and you should be OK.MovieManMenzel's final rating for "Waiting for Forever" is an 5 out of10.
I wish I spent my dollar on a different movie..I usually love chick flicks but when I watched this last night, during the whole movie I was thinking "what theee &$%# is going on??". I thought at the end of the movie it was going to be said that the main boy had some kind of disability but nope...apparantly he's normal. I finished watching in hopes it would get better but it never did.
Judge Franck Tabouring, DVD Verdict -- "Waiting for Forever tries really hard to come across as a heartwarming fairy tale, but as much as I hate to say this, it simply doesn't succeed. I can see how this film could have had some potential on paper during early developmental stages, but as a finished product, it's loaded with annoying flaws that make it nearly impossible to fall in love with. The movie takes quite long to introduce viewers to every character in the film. While that is certainly admirable, it doesn't necessarily move along the story we should be caring about. We're also forced to fight our way through a bunch of backstory, and while it definitely helps build the central story, it sure could have been reduced a little. By the time Will makes contact with Emma, I found myself unable to care about either one of them. I wish I could say I loved the performances in Waiting for Forever, but that wouldn't be true. While Bilson has a few solid moments giving her the opportunity to show off her acting talent, Sturridge seems to struggle with the portrayal of a crazy dude running after the girl of his dreams. Let's just say his delivery remains stiff throughout. The only one shining in every scene he's in is Richard Jenkins, who plays Emma's sarcastic dad. Then again, we're talking about an actor who pretty much always hits the right notes. I give this to director James Keach though: he sure managed to deliver on great production values. The film's shot well and looks great, and anything from locations to costumes just fits the mood. On a similar note, I must applaud 20th Century Fox for giving the film a superb Blu-ray treatment. Presented in a 1.85:1 widescreen transfer, the movie boasts a clean image quality rich in colors and sharpness. Audio tracks are balanced fairly well too, so technically speaking. Special features are nowhere to be found."
This review is from: Waiting For Forever (Amazon Instant Video) In the beginning of the movie, I liked it. In the middle, I thought it was so weird the way the main character (which is the guy?) acted like. He seem like someone who was crazy and needed helped. I almost want to stop watching the movie, but when he got arrested, the movie turns out to be great. I really didnt know what to expect. It almost made me cry. The movie has taught me a valuable lesson: Don't judge a book by its cover. Everyone has a story behind the way they act. Get to know them, and you may be surprised. I will definately recommend it. Please don't regret ordering the movie if you find the beginning or the middle boring. The end of the movie is worth watching it. You have to see the whole movie to love the ending. You will get it the moral of the story afterwards.
I can admit I like to sit down with my girlfriend and watch a few romantic movies from time to time...if you do this as well....steer clear from the worst movie ever made. The main character stalks the plain, uninteresting girl for like his entire life. When his family members tell him he is being stupid (which was so true) he gets this misty eyed, about to cry look on his face...this lasts for almost the entire movie. His friends are trying to "encourage" him to finally talk to this girl, but you can tell that they think he is insane and an escaped mental patient. FINALLY...he tells the girls he has been stalking her...she freaks out (THANK GOD, ITS CALLED A RESTRAINING ORDER) and tells her criminal boyfriend all about him. He takes the liberty to falsely accuse him for a murder crime that he committed. The only interesting characters in this movie were the parents, who were in themselves outrageous and crazy also. Finally after crying himself to sleep in jail...his brother bails him out and he ditches his brother to join the circus...and in my opinion...this is where he belonged at the beginning of the movie...Save your time, and watch a good romantic movie that has depth and heart, your female companion will Thank You for it!!!
This movie will stay with you forever. It's absolutely superb in every way.Great acting from the perfect cast, and great music.Be sure to have a box or two of Kleenex for some extreme heart wrenching moments.Brilliant. I wish there were more movies like this instead of the usual special effect ridden dross which fills the screens these days.If you are a hopeless romantic - enjoy this movie with me...forever.
I recently saw the first public screening of this movie at the SantaBarbara Film Festival in February, 2010. The beginning of the movie was a bit slow and a little misleading, butI think that is what made the movie so great at the end. It is totallyunpredictable. Tom Sturridge was the main character and he isabsolutely going to be a new up and coming star after the film isreleased. Rachel Bilson did a wonderful job as well and the rest of thecast was quite good. It definitely was a tear jerker, you will findyourself blubbering by the end of the film. Overall, feel good moviethat will leave you wondering about the little things in life. Go see it. :)
I don't have enough words to express how much I love this movie. Storyline - Perfect.Acting - I must say I'd never heard of tom sturridge before this, butafter 'waiting for forever' be assured you will be hearing of him inthe future. He is pure acting talent that truly deserves to berecognised worldwide. His portrayal of Will is fantastic and heperfectly captures the character of a man still emotionally in hischildhood. Will whole heartedly loves Emma; there is no room for doubton that statement, and it that love that has created the path of hiswhole life. Rachel bilson puts on a believable front, as do the rest ofthe actors in this film, but it is clear Tom sturridge is the real starin this movie and fully deserves credit for this role. Soundtrack - One of the best i have ever come across, everything fitsin perfectly with the scene and truly enhances your viewing experience. I think to understand the character of Will and to really understandthis story you have to be mature and not looking for a typicalHollywood romance because 'waiting for forever' is not that...it is somuch more, so much better...its the perfect tale of a real, pure,un-doubtable love. To those who would use the words 'boring' and'stalker' i would say...grow up. Real love isn't like the Hollywoodfilm; real love is like the love shown in 'waiting for forever'I would love to recommend this movie to everyone but realistically icannot do that because not everyone will understand this movie and thatis a real shame, but to anyone looking for something real, sweet andheart-warming, 'waiting for forever' is perfect for you.
I never review but I need to get this out there. This was the mostwasted two hours of my life by far. It makes zero sense. I went intoit, being a huge indie romance fan, and coming out thinking this moviewas a disgrace to the genre. There is not one bit of romance besidesthe last 30 seconds of the movie. The whole thing is so slow and goesno where. And it was complete and utter nonsense to throw a murderrandomly in the middle of it. I mean, subplots are nice sometimes butreally? You have to make it relate. That had no place being in a movielike this. The guy was creepy for being such a stalker and honest togod he made it really seem that he had a mental problem. He was a goodactor, just a terrible character. And the girl was just an awfulactress, I don't even want to talk about that. This was definitely theworst movie I've ever seen. None of it makes any sense. Like I said, there's not romance in it. DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME.
What I Can Tell You: This movie reminded me of Benny and Joon starring Johnny Depp. The character of Will played by Tom Sturridge is just adorable. There is something sweet, innocent and genuine that shines through in his smile. There is a train accident. Will's parents die. He leaves his home town with his brother to live with relatives but never forgets his best friend Emma who helped him by telling him his parents will always be with him. Fast Forward maybe 10 years and Will is headed back home when he hears that Emma's father is dying to finally tell her that he loves her. He has been in love with her forever and follows her around just to catch a glimpse. While Emma's complicated life gets in the way of her happiness, Will shows her the simple pleasures of the past. Before they can live happily ever after, a turn of events and a jealous boyfriend has Will arrested and charged with murder. His innocence is tested but love always finds a way. I loved this movie and was shocked that I had not heard of it. It may not be award worthy but this different twist on young love is sweet and introduced me to Tom Sturridge. You can't go wrong with friendship movies and young love
Okay, this movie has a story that is interesting. With that said, you need the characters to fulfill the story. The main actor was atrocious. The person who reviewed it earlier has it right on. It is definitely like watching a mentally retarded kid. Rachael Bielson, is amazing and super good looking. She does her part right. Both sides of the families are rather dysfunctional. This movie has so much potential. The main actor killed the movie. They could put me in that roll and I would have played it better.
I thought I would watch a light movie to pass the time. Got through about 20 minutes and I can't stand the main character. Honestly, if I saw someone like him in real life, I would think he had mental problems. My reaction to him is kinda like his brother's reaction to him. It is hard to watch a movie where you hate the main character's face and actions too much. If they got a different actor or if the writer/director changed the way the main character was, the movie could be tolerable. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie actually lost money for the producers lol . I would be ashamed to be a part of this movie in any way.
