Explores the question of whether its ever too late to say I love you. The story revolves around Lucy Kelson, a brilliant but neurotic attorney, and her client, who is charming, irresponsible and fabulously wealthy.
I loved this movie. Being a romantic comedy, the ending is fairly predictable - but you don't watch this type of film for any great surprises. Hugh Grant & Sandra Bullock have great on-screen chemistry, and the dialogue is very witty in places. I won't go into all the plot details - if you haven't seen it, you should, and if you have, you already know what happens - but for me the best part of the movie was the depiction of the relationship between George (Grant's character) and Lucy (Bullock's character). Yeah, they argue, disagree, drive each other crazy, etc, but there are a number of cute scenes showing just how much they've come to mean to each other while working together. For example, watch out for the scene where they're having lunch and, without even pausing in their conversation or seeming to notice what they're doing, take food off each other's plates.Overall, great fun, heart-warming, and charming. I'd love to see Sandra and Hugh working together again.
This movie was refreshing and funny. I really enjoyed it alot. It isniceto break away from reality and live a fantasy through movies like thisone. This is a must see for any comedy fans and a can NOT miss for Sandra B'sfans.
If I was interested in Heather Burns other than eye candy, I would haveprobably focused on the Miss Congeniality movies. But, in honor of herbirthday, I pick a Hugh Grant film just because I like him.If you are looking for a cute romantic movie, you can never go wrongwith Hugh Grant, who is teamed in this one with Sandra Bullock as anenvironmental lawyer who becomes Grant's legal eagle and mommy. Yes,she gets more than she bargains for and finally gives notice - hence, the title. In typical Grant style, he spends the rest of the movietrying to get her back. Sure, his movies follow the same formula, butthey are just fun to watch.Beside that, you get a great Joni Mitchell song (Big Yellow Taxi) aspart of an outstanding soundtrack - another feature of Grant's films.
I enjoy romantic comedies and like both Bullock and Grant. As with mostromantic comedies, the ending is predictable, but in this one it made nosense to me how it got there. I've not seen all of Bullock's movies, butmost of those I have seen haven't been very good. Too bad, because she iscertainly pretty and loveable.
This is a really bad movie, its not really worth anything, and with two good leading actors, dont watch it please, spare yourself the horror of this very bad film.
OK. Didn't think I would like this based on the previews. I was wrong.Really a funny movie about a social activist lawyer and the corporatesuitshe finds herself working for (she works for him in order to save abuildingthat would be destroyed - he promises not to destroy it because she getshimthe rights to build on the larger site). Both Ms. Bullock and Mr. Grant pull off the roles very well. If anyotheractors had been in these roles, they may not have done so well. I'm notnormally a Hugh Grant fan, but I found myself smiling at all the rightplaces in this movie. You can just imagine standing next to him andlaughing. Ms. Bullock and he perform well together, playing off eachothersstrengths in comedy and sincerity. The comedic moments are well written, the lines don't sound forced or insincere. The comedy blends smoothlywiththe rest of the dialogue.I'd definitely recommend seeing this movie. It has all the elements thatmake romantic comedies worth seeing. If you like this movie, I would also recommend a great classic romanticcomedy/thriller in Charade with Audrey Hepburn and CaryGrant.
I usually love Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant, but unfortunately this movie is really bad. Neither character was very appealing, there was no chemistry, and the whole thing was flat. I found myself actually wincing for the actors. Do not waste your time.
Summary:Lucy Kelson (Sandra Bullock) is a Harvard educated lawyer who, instead of chasing big money, is interested in stopping big money (especially Wade Industries) from wreaking havoc on decrepit architectural masterpieces. When George Wade (Hugh Grant), part owner of Wade Industries or Development or something like that, loses another beautiful but incompetent lawyer after having hired her simply to sleep with her, he hits upon the idea of hiring Lucy when she approaches him about saving a building that his company is planning on destroying. Lucy agrees to be hired but only because she is 'convinced' that if she actually is working for the people that have all of the money that she will be able to do more good than by just fighting them. Once on board Lucy and George develop a strange but humorous (for the audience anyway) relationship, but it is remarkably taxing on Lucy who eventually decides that it is just too much. She finally convinces George to let her go, but when her replacement, June Carter (Alicia Witt), comes aboard the romantic relationship that had been developing between George and Lucy but had not been verbalized comes to a head. On top of this, George is being pressured by his brother, Howard Wade (David Haig), who is the real brains behind the company, to destroy the building they had originally promised not to destroy in agreement for Lucy coming to work with them. Now George and Lucy must wrestle with their morals and their emotions to decide the best course of action. My Comments:Is it wrong for a man to enjoy Hugh Grant's performances? I mean, there is no romantic attraction, I just think the guy has good comedic presentation. Sandra Bullock on the other hand, well, she wasn't horrible in this, but it wouldn't have been a comedy if it weren't for Hugh Grant. He is funny. And the writer's of the movie do a great job of giving him good material to work with. The story is pretty much a typical romantic comedy recipe, but it does have some memorable moments, for instance, at one point George and Lucy chase down a motor home in rush hour traffic so Lucy can use the toilet - can't recall that ever being done before (and it probably won't be done again). The rest of the cast, well, yes, there are some other people, but they play such remarkably insignificant roles that they aren't really even worth mentioning. The movie knows what its strong points are - Grant and Bullock - and screen time is about 99.9% them.Overall, if you enjoy Hugh Grant's sense of humor, this is just as good as, say, Notting Hill or About a Boy (though I'm sure people would argue that Sandra Bullock doesn't compare to Julia Roberts but I don't know that it matters because in both cases Hugh Grant is the funny one, not the female actresses). I would definitely recommend this as a date movie or for fans of Hugh Grant.
A good movie. Bullock is always great. This movie has some extremely funny parts. A must see. G O O O O O OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and S E E E E EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE it!
Mr. Grant excels at this kind of comedy. Simply loved it. A light niceromance/comedy that can be viewed by the whole family.Lots of funny dialogues, situations and hilariously funny lines from Mr.Wade (Hugh Grant). I would even watch a sequel to it...
Clean and clear - that is what I would say if someone asked me todescribe this movie in two words.'Two Weeks Notice' has no special jumps in the plot and the culminationis not very thrilling, but somehow this movie gets your attention.Where is the secret of the film? First of all, great cast. I cannothelp, but notice that Hugh Grant looks even more gorgeous than ever.Sandra Bullock is cute as always. Their comedy skills are undeniable;actually, everyone played their roles perfectly. Second, one of thethings which make this movie so attractive is simple and every-dayjokes. If you see the movie, you will never forget Bullock's hairsticked into Grant's pants zipper. Third, a banal idea which ispresented as very contemporary. Two people who are very different stillcan be together. Or contrasts attract each other. Well-known phrases, aren't they? But this movie talks about nowadays, about a rich man andan average-class young woman. Hugh Grant's character is so cute thathis business which destroys environment seems to be "just his job".Like I said, the characters are very well-done and realistic. After all, the ending cannot be more wonderful. I think it's the onlyromantic comedy which ending is not a rain-kiss scene or something likethat. It is a very laughable final, I can say. And I loved that.8,5/10 it means 9/10 :)
Two weeks notice is an average romantic comedy. Yes, the plot is not verybelievable. And the end could have been filmed a bit less like a chickflick. Still, I liked the movie overall because I enjoy Sandra Bullock'sdeadpan style of humor and I could relate to her character's personality andthe message delivered by Grant's character. If you like comedies of this genre, check it out. If not, skip it.
All right, I said it. I liked this film, it was cute. Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock have great chemistry. Yet there have been A LOT of "Cute" films that have come out that all have the same sort of plot. Two people work together and fall in love. Take Alex and Emma for example. You might just want to stick to renting this one instead.
Really, Alicia was the star of the movie as she brings wit and energyto a rather lethargic movie.Honestly, if it's a comedy, it's not funny. The bloopers make me laughmore. If it's a romance, it's dull: the relationship between Sandra and Grantisn't convincing and not built. They compress nearly a year ofrelationship into one hour and the selection of scenes isn't veryrevealing.Worst, the movie is plagued by the Hollywood rule for romance involvingbig stars: the lovers are always from high society, live a plush andwealthy life thus the audience can't never relate to them. I got alwaysthe feeling that instead of talking about or inspiring our lives, theyprefer talking about the lives of their too much-paid cast. In otherwords, when those overpaid movies stars ask millions to play their owneasy lives on screen, they are despicable and their movies are crap. This one is a fine example of that discrepancy.
Both my daughter and I looked forward to seeing this film. I am a big fan of both Sandra Bullocks and Hugh Grant, as they are charismatic and talented actors with a feel for comedy. Unfortunately, even they cannot overcome a witless script and the ham-handed direction of Marc Lawrence.Sandra Bullock plays the role of neurotic Lucy Kelson, a Harvard Law School grad who follows in the footsteps of her activist parents by becoming an activist lawyer. Hugh Grant is in his element as George Wade, a real estate developer and playboy tycoon. When they are brought together by fate, they strike a deal that they believe would be in each of their respective best interests. Lucy will work for George as his chief counsel, while George promises not to apply the wrecker's ball to her beloved Coney Island community center.Unfortunately, as time passes, these two opposites begin to be attracted to each other. Just as fate contrived to bring them together, however, it appears that fate will also tear them apart. When Lucy discovers that George will be unable to keep his promise about the Coney Island community center, she gives him two weeks notice. Enter June Carter (Alicia Witt), also a Harvard Law grad and Lucy's replacement. The luscious June quickly sizes up George Wade and sets her cap for him, causing Lucy to suffer pangs of jealousy of which she had been previously unaware. There are no surprises in this formulaic film. Hugh Grant does his slightly wacky British turn, while Sandra Bullocks turns in another intelligently ditzy, infectious performance. It is the script and the direction, however, not the actors, that jettison this remarkably unfunny, romantic comedy. The laughs are few and far between. The dialogue is one dimensional and cartoonish. It fails to build a believable romance between the two main characters. Quite frankly, all the film does is waste the considerable talents of Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullocks, as well as the viewer's time. It is an unintelligent, pedestrian film that would otherwise have tanked but for its star power.
"Two Weeks Notice" is the best romantic comedy this year, by far. AND... Iliked "Maid in Manhattan," too. That was a really good movie, with admirablecast and theme, etc. But having just returned from the theater, having seen"Two Weeks Notice," I was just blown away. It is truly great, very likelySandie Bullock and Hugh Grant's best work to date (as a movie freak, and aromantic comedy delighter-in, I have seen everything they've done sofar).Judge first--- Do you like romantic comedy (that doesn't mean "jokes,"rather it means a happy ending)? If you do, you will be astounded with "TwoWeeks Notice." It is smart, bright, and it has an underlying, subtle yetpowerful wit coursing through its veins. Also, this movie has beauty, charm, and interest--- duh, it's supposed to--- but more, it has a HUGE heart. I'ma guy, I'm not gay, and I'm not supposed to care about that. But I doanyway. And the heart will inspire you, and not just as some "movie object"someone ELSE has--- but rather, You will feel your own. And that can only bea good thing. No b.s.--- I predict this may become a classic in the Tracy-and-Hepburn,Cary Grant-and-Anybody tradition. That's saying lot, but I'll bet it turnsout to be the case. I'll check back in in 50 years and see if I'm right. Itotally gave this a "10" out of "10."
Chick flicks. A staple in American society and a painin .... But now comes one I almsot enjoyed. Sandra Bullock, great character actor, never breaks pace in this film.I saw this movie in the theater with two girlfriends. One was almost as bored as I was. And the other was laughing the whole time. I think I laughed a total of once, but maybe it was because I didnt want to be seen as liking these types of movies.Story is halfway interesting but even more predictable, which is becoming a trend in Holly wood these days for some reason. Hugh Grant is a great actor and a very funny guy all the way around. So, the film loses a star for being what it is, a chick flick... but it loses another for lack of laughs.
I thought this movie was cute. It's like those other romantic comedies"HowTo Lose A Guy In 10 Days", "Sweet Home Alabama", "Maid In Manhattan", "TheWedding Planner", "Miss Congeniatly" etc. "Two Weeks Notice" is reallyfunnyand Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant made a great and funny couple. This issimply one of the best romantic comedies out there. To be honest I thoughtthis would be boring but I started laughing at most of the parts. SandraBullock is a outstanding actress and Hugh Grant is awesome. There is somemild language that might disturb younger viewers and some sexual humorthatsome kids may not be able to see. If you haven't seen this movie youshould.I recommend it! B+
This is truly one of the worst movies I've ever watched.
Ever get the feeling that love is right there and near by and yet you can't see it... this is a romantic comedy about two people who are perfect for one another but can't see it until it may be too late.
