When teenager Sam Witwicky buys his first car, what he doesnt know, is that its actually an alien robot. This isnt the only alien to arrive on Earth. Optimus Prime and a fellow group of transforming robots have arrived in search of the AllSpark. But, Optimus Prime and his Autobots arent the only aliens to appear. Megatron and the Decepticons are also searching for the AllSpark, and it would do anything to get it, even if it means destroying the city.

The Transformers characters look so true-to-life, and their interactionwith the humans is quite remarkable. I am desperately awaiting thesequel to this (please keep it going Michael Bay!!!!!!). Do yourself a favor, get the video game. It keeps me sustained untilthe sequel of the movie comes out. In the game, you can choose to be anAutobot, or a Decepticon; and you can save your game and go back andforth between the two sides. I grew up playing with the toys. I had Megatron and Starscream. Myparents saw the movie, and they didn't understand it. The movie doesn'tappeal to them, cause they were too old to know the Transformers, likemy generation and younger understand. My favorite character from the movie, is BumbleBee. I was hurt to seehow easily Starscream injured him. I did, however, enjoy the attitudethat Starscream displayed toward Megatron, when Megatron asked him aquestion. My favorite Decepticon, is Blackout. He made one hell of an entrance. I was disappointed to see the Soundwave didn't come to earth; hopefullyhe'll come in the next movie. Optimus Prime was right on from the cartoon! He's still a great leader, very responsible and thoughtful. He even showed sympathy toward hisnemesis, Megatron. A great movie for children of all ages, unless you are too old to knowwhat a Transformer is!!!!!
This is an outstanding movie on several levels. BetweenTransformers,Bad Boys 2,Armageddon, and Pearl Harbor, amongothers;Micheal Bay is one of my favorite directors. Well Done MichealBay,John Rogers,Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and everyone else who hadsomething to do with this movie.Peter Cullen is the voice of the Peterbuilt big truck (Optimus Prime)This is at least the second time Peter Cullen has voiced Optimus Prime.Peter Cullen is a permanent AA list actor.Megan Fox, Rachel Taylor, and Julie White is hot!!!---One Truck Drivers Opinion---erldwgstruckermovies.com
Frankly, I am not a fan of SCi-Fi movie genre, but this movie comes asa big surprise. This is not a typical Sci-Fi movie, it is not even aserious action movie and is packed with so much comedy and humor( notthe cheap ones that we see in American Pie etc etc). The specialeffects were simply incredible (debatable as the best ever). The robotswere great and the action sequences among them is just perfect. The waythe robots turned themselves into Chevy Camaro and GMC Trucks is sowell etched out. As for the actors, Shia LaBeouf is the perfectcast(Hollywoods future) for the lead role. He is really comic. And thenhis opposite sexy Megan Fox may not be that good an actress butcertainly adds a package of glamor. The rest of the cast includingTyresse, Josh Duhamel, Racheal Taylor and Jon Voight do not disappointeither. The movie looks far more expensive than just $147m and couldnot understand how Spiderman could cost more than this one. Okay thismay not be the best ever but certainly its way better than Spiderman 3,Pirates of the Caribbean- At World's End. It certainly was a relief forme as the movie that i watched before this one in the theater was theextremely pathetic EVAN ALMIGHTY.
I saw Trasformers in Colombia for firs time like in July 23 or 22, andI say that this was a piece of god's was an robot war masterpiece. Thismovie show as what Michael Bay can do, he first show as a spaceadventure at Armagedonwere he became famous and then a wonderful movieof he world war II, Pearl Harbor, this was an awesome movies, but notso great like Transformers, Trasformers was much better than Armagedonor Pearl Harbor, Transformers have, Espectacular Special Effect's has agood cast and have all the appropriate thing's to made a war movie likeTrasformers, and like say in the comment of (Don't shy awaytransformers is not a kid movie) that comment is truth, becauseTrasformers is a war movie that have little blood and have some thing'snot appropriate for kid's. Trasformers have a good rating here but Ithink that it deserve much better, but was a good rating, Trasformersis a wonderful master piece and i think that Trasformers deserved theVisual effect Oscar, Because Golden Compass was a horrible move itwasen't a good movie and the Visual effect weren't that so great.Transformers i think that is Michael Bay's first masterpiece, this wasan awesome movie.
I don't see how they could've done any better than what they did. Themovie was absolutely incredible. All the original elements were thereand of course some new ones they had to incorporate. Definitely a mustsee. Lots of great moments and funny lines. The actors did a wonderfuljob except for Megan Fox...she just seemed like she was there taking upspace and to look good which of course she did. Although she did redeemherself a bit in one sequence w/ Bumble Bee...I was very happy to seethat. I know all the males in the room were oogling her. The specialeffects were wonderful...and as always I.L.M. exceeded themselves yetagain. Go see it...even if you're not a Transformers fan...you won't bedisappointed in the least bit.
First, I never watched the cartoon or bought any of the merchandisingwhen I was growing up. I was excited to see the movie anyway. The onlytwo redeeming aspects of the movie are Megan Fox and the appearance ofthe new Chevy Camero. Both are hot!!! Shia LaBeouf plays a veryobnoxious teenager that is full of too much talk. I got tired of himright from the beginning. I saw that same character in "I, Robot". Themovie also has the typical drawn out action/chase sequences whereeverything gets destroyed (buildings, cars, etc).I did like some of the attempts at humor. The Transformers themselveswere pretty cool. I just thought the movie was completely formula andthe acting and dialog was terrible. If the movie was from the viewpointof the Transformers instead of Shia LaBeaouf's character, maybe thefilm would have been better.
This movie is simply amazing. It is entertaining, fun, and the specialeffects are mind-blowing, even for this age when people take them forgranted in every movie.Of course, all the critics would find many reasons why this film wouldbe bad. They always do that. Regardless, people like it, and that isthe main thing. Unlike some other animation/comics-based films,Transformers actually leave the old shell behind and focuses more onmaking a good entertainment rather than satisfying the die-hard fan'sdesires for boxy, classic characters. The pacing and editing is alsounusual for this kind of movies, resulting in a very realisticenvironment.Shia LaBoeuf is simply great as the main character, and stands out themost, whilst Megan Fox, playing the role of protagonist's dream girl,is only trying to look hot instead of acting, sometimes making mewonder if anybody would notice the difference if a poster would be putin her place with voice-over. Her lines are pathetic, but a good (orany) actor talent should have dealt with that. She just doesn't haveit.Overall, a great entertainment. I was very satisfied. This wouldn'thave worked without Michael Bay, which made the movie into somethingmore than one would expect from just hearing the name. 9.5/10
The audio in the film rocks loud and crisp to keep your heart rate up.The CGI is actually quite good. I thought I'd have to do someoverlooking to buy that there were giant robots fighting on the screenand then transforming into vehicles, but the graphics don't miss abeat. I would have like to see some more character depth in thetransformers. Watching the old cartoons I got connected to variouscharacters and I had hoped to see more of the personalities that Iremember from then. But, overall I was impressed with this movie.Bay manages to fill the entire film with nonstop action. So much sothat you don't even have time to realize that the script isn't verygood. As long as you don't read too much into it you will have a blast.
The image of very large robots hiding out of sight around a suburbanhouse is a wonderfully childish scene. The image of a jet fighter planetransforming and turning against the squadron it hid with is quitesomething.Structurewise, there is little here that is different from any summerblockbuster - slightly superior teen flick standard. But just as LotRdeclared year zero for visual effects, Transformers give us a perfectblend of live action and CGI. The transformations are stunning, and Inever grew tired of watching them. The film is not too dominated by its many set pieces; nor is it ruinedby squeezing humour into the bits where proper dialogue should appear. In summary this is somewhat short of real film making, but it achievesits aim of entertaining for its entire length.
This is an enjoyable "leave your brain out of the door" type of moviethat tried to give an updated version of one of the loved cartoons ofthe 80s. For a "TRUE" fan of the franchise (and not just G1), theupdates were impressive and grows on you (would you rather see them intheir "Beast Wars" identities? ...shivering...). Besides, during thecourse of the cartoons, many changes were made along the way and someare bad, but some are also cool.Going back to the movie. The robots should have have more on-screentime where the Autobots should have been the heroes saving the worldand us humans from being obliterated by the Decepticons. The robotsshould not be subject to giving out too much comedic reliefs (respect, people!). Too much focus on Sam (Should have changed the title to Samand the Transformers) and the "sentient being"'s side. That the plotwas a rip off of Independence Day also added to the down side of themovie.Respecting the source material, a good story, and awesome CGI pays moredividends. (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman 1..ok and 2) SoI gave it a 6, because the effects were wicked; Shia's acting wasimpressive as well as John Turturro's; and Optimus Prime's voice ISOptimus Prime. Megatron would have been cooler if he was a tank and hadmore meaningful things to say.
To be honest I was disappointed with Transformers. I didn't haveparticularly high hopes about the film, due to the fact it had 'summerblockbuster, lots of shouting, explosions and cheap humour' written allover it. To this effect, it lived up to my expectations, it was a poorfilm. The opening scenes where a transformer predictably makes itselfknown at some random military base in Qatar is just downrightconfusing. Firstly, it changes from day to night in a matter ofseconds. Second, there is a vague attempt at trying to get the audienceto bond with a character but it is crammed into about 30 seconds.Third, the transformer tries to steal all of the American military'ssecrets and important documents. Hold on... WHY THE HELL WOULD THEYKEEP THAT INFORMATION ON A TEMPORARY BASE IN THE MIDDLE EAST???? Thefilm is riddled with these sort of plot holes and general lazyness fromthe writers. Another negative point with Transformers is the editing. My God, it is confusing, disorientating and adds absolutely nothing tothe film. In most of the 'action' scenes you are just left staring atrapidly changing shots of dust and mangled metal moving at high speeds. To me, although this film may be enjoyable to Hollywood blockheads, this film just lacks any thought or innovative thinking. It's lazy. Onthe plus side, the CGI is impressive and the film looks good, apartfrom the fact that lens filters were used far too much.If you're into shouting, explosions and not a lot of story, this is foryou.
Sorry.. Was totally unimpressed.I think the only people who rated this higher than 3 were die hardtransformer fanbois. I was totally unimpressed, thought the movie was'good CGI' but thats about it.Acting was horrible, the dialog of the whole movie was just sad. Theonly saving grace was the CGI, but sorry, that doesn't impress meenough to rate it higher than 2.and now for the extra 3-4 lines of text that is needed, because I haveto add random filler just to let the comment be added. I am sorry, butthere just is not enough to say about the movie above what I alreadysaid without adding spoilers.
Again a great movie I missed till it came to DVD. Sigh. Tranformers,re-imagined by director Michael Bay, is loud, funny and fast. Its aperfect popcorn movie and a real feast for the eyes. And no, I don'tjust mean Megan Fox. The effects in the movie are some of the best I'veever seen, truly good and utterly convincing. Of course the charactersreactions aren't always so real, but hey its a summer movie. For anyone unfamiliar with the toys from Hasbro or the ludicrouslypopular cartoon from the 80's, this is probably confusing. HenceOptimus Prime delivers the prologue himself. Very cool, even cooler itsstill Peter Cullen doing the voice. Kudos to the film's makers forthat. I did miss Starscream and Megatron but I think those performersmight be dead. Hugo Weaving did a nice job as Megatron.Shia Lebouef, awful name but nice kid, does well as Sam, he reallycarries the film at times. Megan Fox is the love interest here and Itake umbrage with any complaints about her acting, you try acting in apiece like this! She was smoking hot and very convincing to me. Sothere. To those who said there was no plot or development, did youactually watch this movie? C'mon, Mikhala is pretty shallow till shemeets Sam and she proves her mettle by hanging with him in this crazysituation. Remember the line, "get in the car"? She did, remember that.Optimus looks great and the Bumblebee Camaro is awesome. I love thein-jokes, especially the one about "Armageddon" this movie had melaughing and cheering, just like a popcorn movie should! My onlycomplaint was I thought the final battle was slightly off, not bad, just should have been bigger, less stupid extras and more demolition.Other than that it was great. Oh, one other complaint, other than thegreat old songs used by Bumblebee in the beginning of the film, lousymusic score, oh well. Still a great flick.
HD DVD EXCLUSIVE ACTION PACKED MOVIE...A++++++++++++++Title Can't wait until it's released...going to have a Transformers party!
I was hesitant to see this movie but the trailer really won me over because of the whole cheesy look to it. Man, was I proven wrong. I thought the movie was a lot of fun-- the nonstop action, the storyline, and the appearance of the coolest robots ever in existence. The robots, the just Autobots and the power-hungry Decepticons, are given a brief prologue and summary of their ramshackle home planet and the war that's waging between the two sides, but we never actually see anything until the near end of the movie. The human characters also aren't very fleshed-out and there are some of the usual archetypes you find in an action flick: the hero who wants to return to his family because he has a child, the government official who doesn't know the entire truth behind what's going in, the nerd who still lives with his grandma, and the teenage boy who's pining for the pretty girl who doesn't even know he's alive. But since this is a Michael Bay flick and some of these archetypes are in his previous films (Armageddon, anyone?), I think Bay's fans wouldn't really care; Shia LeBeouf, however, gives a pretty decent performance as aforementioned teen who likes the hot chick. If more attention had been focused on the robots, who are the real stars of the show, it would have been a greater movie, but since I had so much fun watching it four times in the theater, I think all can be forgiven. That's what sequels are for anyway, right?
Are you kidding me?!?! This is the best that they could do?!?! This was one very LAME, BORING, and DISAPPOINTING Transformers film. Transformers is a great story to tell, but these guys just completely destroyed Transformers idea. Watch the 1986 Animated Transformers movie and you'll see how great the Transformers Universe truly is. It is available on digitally mastered DVD. That will show you what the characters should look and act like. This movie is going to the bottom of the garbage dump with the rest of the rubbish...namely Spiderman 3, ET the Atari 2600 videogame, and any other total **** you can think of.
I couldn't even make it through this movie. It has wonderful effects,is very visually intense, I have little doubt in a good theater soundenvironment it would melt your brain from the overload of stimulation.Myself, I watched it on the small screen, and I was bored to tears. The characters are all thin, poorly developed and generallyuninteresting. The plot barely keeps its head above the clumsy pile ofbad comedy relief, teen angst and Mtv-style geek sexuality. The robotsare impressive, though soulless. Michael Bay continues to show outsideof blowing things up, he's not worth much. It makes for a loudroller-coaster ride of special effects and explosions, but it sorelylacking in story, character development, plot development or anythingelse remotely interesting. When the two most compelling elements of your movie are a chatteringboom-box and a fake- tanned hard-body, you haven't got much to fill thedrawn out dimensions this beast took up. I gave it an hour and a half.Beyond that, I couldn't even bring myself to follow along.
Transformers (2007) is purely an action film. All aspects of the movieare inferior to the on-screen spectacle of massive fighting robots, carchases and explosions. Luckily, most people were expecting just that,as was I.The intensity of the film is indeed one of its strong points. Anotheris the incredible CGI. The computer generated Transformers blend inseamlessly with the surrounding cityscapes and create a visuallyappealing action movie. The camera-work and editing is a bit too fastat times, making some fight scenes hard to follow, but creating acertain dynamic as well. Also the plot is as thin as a single sheet ofpaper. But that is not what bothered me about Transformers. The problem isthat this movie was catered too much to a single target audience: youngmales in the ages 12 to 18. The teenage lead characters enforce this bystumbling around in romantic scenes and blurting out jokes that rangefrom horribly unfunny to half decent at best. The acting is not one ofthe films strong points either. This combined makes the "human" scenesfar inferior to the action / robot scenes. Luckily there's more thanenough action to be seen, which is the reason why I did enjoy watchingthis film.I somewhat recommend this film to anyone who can take this movie forwhat it is: A shallow sci-fi action flick that makes up for its meageracting, writing and humor by giving us a real visual spectacle. Nothingmore, nothing less.
Ah yes, military bases - no tax on goods, cheap gas, and a sneakpreview of Transformers. Michael Bay did one hell of a bang up job onthis one.I went into the movie expecting a cool, product-placement movie, butwhat I got in return was a ridiculous but awesome film. From the getgo, the movie is fast paced and the action starts quick. Then it slowsdown into a story building motion, but speeds up again after theintroduction of all of the characters. Basically, the movie can besplit into two parts: the ridiculous, comedic portion and the actionoriented, blow your mind portion. As for the graphics, simply put they are orgasmically good. Thetransformations from car to bot, and vice versa, are smooth and flowingeven in the middle of action. They mesh well with the environments andactually appear to be real without that CGI-texture look.Nerd or moviegoer alike, the movie is great and I would have spent myhard-earned money it if I didn't have the option of seeing this freescreening. However, for the supernerds out there, there are a fewinconsistencies in the movie but only they would let that ruin theexperience. Easily and most likely the top movie of the summer so far.
First off, I've been a Transformers fan for about ten years now (I'm a teenager), and I had looked forward to this film ever since it was announced over two years ago. And after obtaining it on DVD, I've got to say that I continue to simply LOVE it!The basic story is that the Allspark, an alien cube responsible for creating the Transformer race, is hidden somewhere on Earth, and through some interesting (but wierd) events, a teenager named Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) befriends the Autobots and becomes an indirect savior of the world. Some major players from the Transformers universe return in this new story, such as Optimus Prime (voiced by the classic Peter Cullen), Megatron (Hugo Weaving of the Matrix Trilogy), Starscream, and Bumblebee. Speaking of the robots, the action and CGI in the movie is probably the best I've seen yet. The acting is interesting, ranging from real-world believable to cartoon-like and absurd, but it only helps make this a fun movie. Overall, I believe that this is one of the best movies I've ever seen.Being rated PG-13, there are many parts that are fun for families to watch, but some suggestive humor and a lot of explosion-filled action scenes might be dangerous for young children to watch. As for DVD itself, it is very nice. On the first disc, you get the feature film and a pretty insightful commentary from the director, Michael Bay. On the second disc, you get about two hours of making-of featurettes, trailers for the film, a concept art montage, and some easter eggs. The material covers the US military's involvement, acting, visual effects, and more, making the DVD a worthy package. There could have been some more material here, but these are already good for repeated viewings. Whether you're a fan of Transformers or summer blockbusters, I think you will be pleased when you give this movie a look.
