The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and to learn its secrets
Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon". They represent actual movie quality.
I don't even know where to begin...I'm still speechless. I didn't thinkthings could get worse after Revenge of the Fallen. Dear God was Imistaken. Horribly, horribly mistaken. This is more a game of questions if you ask me. Questions such as:1)Who was it who ever sat down and said "you know what, I think MichaelBay would be great to direct a Transformers trilogy!"? 2)Who exactlygreen lighted this 'script' (and believe me I use the term VERYloosely)? 3)What sort of barnyard animal is in charge that would ever,EVER consider that this movie was 'ok' to release to the public? 4)Whowas the cretin that went to the studio bosses and told them "we need astar for the new Transformers trilogy! Get me the kid from EvenStevens!"? 5)In what universe is Rose-Huntington whatever consideredhot? These are but a few enigmas that plagued me throughoutthis...thing.I'll refrain from beating around the bush. The acting is horrifying. The story is non-existent, and whomever thought it would pass as beingacceptable needs to be horsewhipped. The dialogue is atrocious. In all,one word can sum up this movie-laughable. This wasn't a movie, it was anearly 3 hour joke that tried to be serious. I am embarrassed foranyone who worked on this project. I would be absolutely ashamed tohave my name linked to something like this.Positives? The CGI was impressive, which is what earned this film 3/10instead of the zero it so rightly deserved.A few other major problems this film had: Forgive my ignorance, but wasn't this supposed to be a franchise aboutrobots in disguise? Then why is the movie 30% about robots and 70%about humans beings who a)I don't have any emotional connection to b)Icouldn't care less about because they're preventing me from viewing therobots I paid to see and c)I honestly wished would die in every scenethey appeared? Fast moving camera shots and large explosions tend to hinder people intheir efforts to view what's going on in a movie. Especially during thefight scenes. In said fight scenes, its also hard to know who's who when the heroesand villains look almost exactly the same. That's kinda why you makepeople and things look different, so, you know, we can identify them...The title. "In the Dark of the Moon" makes sense. "Lunar Shadow" makessense. "Dark of the Moon" makes no sense. Even the title is bad.Even now, hours after viewing it, I'm still completely appalled by thismovie. This isn't a bad movie by Transformers standards, its a badmovie by any standards.
I know that people most likely won't read this, but i want to get mythoughts down while still in my head. I just saw the 9:30 3-D showingof TF3, and here is my review. It is slightly spoiler-ish.The Plot:Most people despised the plot of ROTF. I sorta liked it, but I couldtell why others hated it. I just sorta overlooked it. DOTM's plot ismore thought out and contains many sub- plots. This makes the plot morelike TF1 than the plot of ROTF. I loved the plot twists, even thoughone or two were predictable. The most shocking is Sentinel. Did NOT seethat coming. I loved the explanations of how things worked and thecharacter development. The plot gets an overall 9/10Acting:The acting overall was average for a TF movie. Rosie was surprisinglyOK for a first-timer and a huge step up from Megan Fox's "Meh." acting.Shia was good as usual, Tyrese and Josh were OK. Dempsey wasn't as goodas he usually is, but it was alright. The one amazing aspect of themovie was the voice acting. Cullen is superb as always. All the otherrobots were great, especially Leonard Nimoy as Sentinel prime. Henailed it. The voice sounded like an aging warrior. If they make afourth, they should bring back Nimoy for a different character. Becauseof the voice acting, i give the acting overall a 7.5/10The Comedy:The parents are back and they actually earned a few roars of laughterfrom the crowd. So did Wheelie and his new sidekick brains. Sure, someof the one-liners fell flat on the floor, but Ya dunno if ya don't try.The movie was hilarious, but not always when it's supposed to, i givethe comedy a 8/10.The CGI.I admit it. Even though I overlooked many ROTF flaws, the ONE THING icouldn't overlook was how many instances, the robots looked fake.Barely, and for short periods of time, but it did look fake. Thisproblem is eliminated from this film. The robots looked real, just likethe first movie. The 3-D just expanded the realisticness of the robots.Best Live action 3-D movie effect I've ever seen. The robots hadperfect Human-like movement, and the lipsyncing was spot on. I give theanimation a 10/10Other ThingsFirst of all, I like Shockwave. He is very intimidating. I sorta withhe had more lines, even though his silence mad him more intimidating. I(being the nerd I am) noticed many Star Trek references. Most likelybecause of Leonard Nimoy participating in the film. First of all,Wheelie came into Sam's Apartment turning on Star Trek. He says "I'veseen this one, this is the one where Spock goes Crazy" Also, SentinelStates Nimoy's Famous Spock quote "The needs of the many oughtweigh theneeds of the few." (I geeked out at this moment) The action was amazingand Prime was at his most Bad A** in this film. The action scenes areepic and flow together amazingly. I also love Starscream banging hishead on the ground to get something out. Overall, this other stuff getsa 9/10.Final ThoughtsIf you've read this far, I thank you for giving a crap about thisreview and appriciating the Hour I put into this Review. Dark of themoon is an action packed, thought out and visually stunning work ofart. With average acting and AMAZING Voice acting, great CG, Amazing3-D. If you haven't seen it, See it NOW. Overall, i give TF3 8.7 out ofFive.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is Michael Bay's third time handling theworld of Autobots and Decepticons with some humans thrown around inthere. Once again, the story revolves around Decepticons trying tobring life to their barren planet Cybertron and guess what they need -cheap labor. I guess if pondered on, this film might bring a newmeaning to the word Outsourced.Anyways, once again Michael Bay tries to make a movie which could havebeen good and satisfying. Unfortunately, it's not.Overall, the movie is not good and this time there no attempts to hideit. Sentinel Prime is a good guy and somehow turns bad when he wakes up(he made a deal with Megatron some centuries ago). This was such a goodplot that Michael couldn't wait to flaunt it and let everybody knowthat in the first half itself. Sometimes, I imagine what the resultwould have been if Sentinel had turned out evil in the last half. Itwould have been awesome. (of course the story would have been differentbut the idea is so enticing). The direction is average. Michael has already proved that he is theRoland Emmerich equivalent - only he can direct much better fights.Shia LeBouf is okay and guess what this time Michael gave him a gun.Finally. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is Megan Fox' replacement but justnot that good (Can anyone tell me if they were convinced of her havingthe guts and luck to talk to Megatron alone and walk away unhurt?). Therobots as always were awesome and fight bigger than anything you canimagine.Well, thats my take. The last thing I can say is whoever directs thenext Transformers - Please let Michael Bay create the trailers becausethey are the only reason why this movie is said to be so awesome andgood (in some cases).
Transformers: Dark of the Moon Synopsis:Dude... Autobots, "Prisoners of WAR!!!" man this is an advanced alienrace of egomaniacal robots and now we've given them humanweaknesses.... if that's not all, I thought the Decepticons wereruthless and sadistic, I was expecting to see bumblebee roasting on astick and not having to hold his head waiting to die... I mean, his armis a gun for god's sake.OK, lemme not talk about the action for a bit; the story was incoherentand most scenes made no sense at all in having them there, the first30mins was like watching the first 30mins of a very, and I mean VERY,predictable chic flick mixed in with a terrible so called funny movielike "Corky Romano" (more so, a very very bad version of corky romano, which is already a terrible movie to say the least). It almost made mepuke. As in they actually waited an entire 2hrs to kiss (like that wasthe most important scene in the movie). To say the truth, if I wasn'tso hungry at the beginning of the movie, I wished I was elsewhere. Andthat bit where Starscream blew up that spaceshit (read it exactly asits written), talk about the most predictable part of the entire movie,it was so obvious that they'd find a way back before the ship even gotout of the earth's atmosphere.Back to the Robots; OK is it me or are these the flimsiest robots youhave ever seen. I mean Ironhide melted after being shot once, Sam (amere human, not even military trained nor muscular) was able to pop offLaserbeak's head? I mean I could try to rip apart this computer I'musing with my bare hands but I would be screaming and bleeding like amofo by the time I'm done and this guy got off without even a scratch; Not even Hamisi is that able, and mind you he has the roughest hands inthis side of the office as far as I'm concerned.Action; the only worthwhile action that was worth talking about wasOptimus Prime fighting off the other big robots, and he got tangled insome wires, for like 20mins he was still in those wires; and here Ithought he had some big guns, a flaming sword and a huge axe to say theleast.Oh yeah, there is also the issue of there being only ONE just ONE hotchic in this movie. JUST ONE!!! If I'm going to sit for two hours watcha truck load of nonsense there had better be more reason than therebeing a bunch of flimsy robots getting their asses handed to them for40mins or more. Most of all I will NEVER EVER EVER! forgive Michael Bay for messingwith the holiest of Holies in the world of Sci-Fi Movie. "The needs ofthe many, outweigh the needs of the few"; He selected Spock's dyingwords in one of Star Trek's best ever movies (The Wrath of Khan) andput them in one of the CRAPPIEST MOVIES ever made. Why oh why didLeonard Nimoy ever agree to being part of this horrific mess Well on a scale of 1-10 I give this movie a 3. I'd have given it 1 butI still love huge robots fighting.
(MINOR SPOILERS) I know I'm saying a lot by summarizing it this way,but I can't help but feel right in doing so. Before I review allaspects of the film, I'll talk about the story. The story is being reviewed as convoluted, choppy and all over theplace. And I can admit it can seem so for some audiences, but I thinkthe film is directed for a target audience. I'd say Star Trek Trekkers! If you're a hard core Trekker, than this might be the best film evercreated. It sounds bold, but I seriously feel that this is the case. Imight sound corny for saying so, but I acknowledge that. And this iswhy I believe it is the most important film of all time.In Transformers, and Transformers 2, we saw some simple good vs. evilbattles, great action, and funny scenes. In Transformers 3 Dark of TheMoon, we get a whole lot more. More in plot, and a much more subliminaltale that blends fiction with historical account. If you believe in TheSecret Space Program, E.T. controlled governments, and UFO's, or plainand simple; aliens amongst us, than this film is the nutshell. Ibelieve that Transformers 3 and it's plot is basically centered aroundconspiracy theories that have been running since the 50's. This is E.T.disclosure in fiction form, You will see simulated stock footage ofJohn F. Kennedy discussing UFO's. Only to see real stock footage rightafter wards. You will see astronaut Neil Armstrong in a cameoappearance, only to see a scene of him taking an oath not to discusshis knowledge of aliens on the moon and on Earth. Why would NeilArmstrong agree to the role if he didn't agree with all of this?! It'sabsolutely perplexing to me.The movie was darker than the previous 2. Less comedy, but thought ShiaLebouf was the best in this 3rd installment. He was very good, and asfunny as ever. But yes, the movie lacks emotion as most critics say,but It doesn't matter, it's a plot driven film, not a character film. The CGI is the best I've ever seen, simple as that. It surpassesAvatar's CGI by far, I was absolutely mesmerized by the CGI in thisfilm, and the previous 2 Transformers films do not compare to this one.Even the fight scenes were well choreographed, where as in the past 2films, they seemed blurry and rushed. This is Micheal Bay's best film. It's his masterpiece, without anydoubt! I just wish the film was rated R, like I said in my review inthe other Transformers film that you can find on here. I think a moreserious tone would have made this less campy and just better. In the end, there is an all to powerful message. All the evil in thisworld is due to a spiritually evil Extraterrestrial intelligence thatintervened with our technological progression. And there is also a goodkind of E.T.'s keeping us safe. Whether through their messengers, ornot.Star Trek fans, be advised, there are many homages here to Spock inthis film, some of his most famous lines are used, and after all, he isvoicing Sentinel Prime, so why not! 9/10 I'd give it a round 10 if itwasn't for the lack of emotion, and lack of care for the characters. But like I said, it's the plot that is good, not so much a characterdriven film.
To Start, I loved the first transformers movie. I thought it was a verywell done popcorn flick and it held my interest. I walked intoTransformers 2 with semi-decent expectations and walked out of thetheater angry that I just wasted 10$ to see what basically amounted toa half baked attempt at a cash grab. I had very low expectationswalking into this one. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. Actors: The loss of Meghan Fox is a huge plus in the movie's favor. Thenew girl was alright, not amazing, bu she did a passable job. Therewere no Oscar performances in this movie, but you didn't buy the yourticket for an Oscar performance. If for some reason you did well godhelp you. The actors were passable, and, in my opinion, did not dragdown the movie. the voice acting for the transformers was good too, again nothing amazing here so lets move on.Story: Yes, you could examine the continuity and ask why didn'tMegatron attempt to retrieve the pillars in the first movie sinceapparently that was the overall plan? You could question how his filmis attached to the other two (other than the returning characters).I'll admit this movie does suffer from some continuity issues. That isthe problem when a movie is made without planning for the sequels inthe beginning; the writers are forced to make an attempt to connect thestories. Without taking into account the other two movies, the story isdecent in here, and (as I've been wishing for since the firsttransformers)the series finally takes a dark turn. In the past moviesit never seemed like human civilians were truly harmed. It was impliedthat people were being killed in the battles, but it really felt likeMichael Bay was avoiding the idea. Not in this one. Mr. Bay did nothold back in the last hour and many, many people were killed. Theslapstick comedy does return but for the most part it was actuallyfunny and not annoying this time. At the end of the day, the plot wasgood enough to hold my attention to the end unlike Transformers 2:ROTF's sloppily thrown together story.Action: Here's where this movie made up for it's faults. This is thereason you bought your ticket, and Michael Bay did not falter here. This is hands down some of the best CGI/Action I've ever seen in amovie. Trust me when I say the last hour was worth the price ofadmission. Just turn your brain off and enjoy this movie for what it isand you will walk out satisfied. Epic action, intense fights, hugeexplosions. Enough saidOverall: People. Stop criticizing every detail. Its a movie about giantrobots that transform into cars. What do you expect? Turn your brainoff. Enjoy the action. If that doesn't sound like your kind of movie, then go see something else.
The third Transformers movie has some of the best action visuals everfilmed and were plenty exciting in 2D.During the "Invasion of Chicago", there are many CGI ships flyingaround downtown. The alien crafts resemble those in earlier movies thisyear like Skyline and Battle Los Angeles. There are spectacular aerialviews of the combat and mayhem. The sweeping panoramic views of LakeMichigan and the Chicago Skyline with soldiers jumping out ofhelicopters and buildings set to a drum pounding score were comparableto some of the action scenes in the Dark Knight. The story begins with a new interpretation of the first man on the moonmission and makes an immediate impression. The scope of this film isimmense as there is action on the moon, White House, Lincoln Memorial,Downtown Chicago and what appears to be a replica of Chernobyl. THE HUMANS (AMERICANS):Sam (Shia LaBeouf) wants to be taken seriously and succeeds by shoutingin our ears most of the time. Maybe he was trying to be heard over thenon-stop music and action. Col. Lennox (Josh Duhamel) shouts a lot aswell. Sam's new love interest Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) isthere to be the damsel in distress. Although her accent is out ofplace, Director Michael Bay does a fine job showcasing her beautyutilizing a variety of wardrobes and backdrops. Tyrese Gibson isfeatured prominently in the action scenes along with Lester Speight (ofOffice Linebacker Terry Tate fame). The soldiers seemed to have agreater role in the outcome of this film rather than the previous two. There are frequent attempts at comic relief from both the robots andthe humans, most of which are not funny but at least are entertaining. For the characters that we already know from the first two films, weget more of the same. Sam's parents are less obnoxious this time (KevinDunn, Julie White) as is Seymour Simmons (John Turturro). But many ofthe new characters (played by some veteran actors) were there to hamthings up. I don't think any of these guys were necessarily bad, asthey succeeded in keeping us occupied until the battles took place. THE ROBOTS:In one corner we have The Decepticons who are tough foes once again, this time their heavy hitter is a gigantic snake-like robot that ripsthrough buildings and streets. "Spock" does the voice of the powerfulturncoat robot Sentinel Prime whose arm is like a sword and the beat-uplooking Megatron is back to manipulate and scheme. And for the reigning heavyweight champ Autobots, Optimus Prime repriseshis role as the robot Rambo who comes in only for the final stages ofthe battles after his mates take their abuse.Overall, this one was a little more entertaining then Revenge of theFallen.
If you want to see great visual effects with sound you should watchthis movie .There is no proper story it is repeat of transformers 2 butlittle change in the sub plot . Micheal Bay / screen writers could havedone a lot better in story as there is nothing . I really wanted thismovie to gain success after debacle after 2nd one . Idk how stevenSpielberg like this script and producing the movie . Sometimes youcannot understand what transformers are talking about . There couldhave been huge plot or well made plot which could have driven thismovie big time .The ending was abrupt .Well overall i am giving 5/10(but for visual effects i would give 9/10) .
As a fan of the first, and even second, Transformers film, I had mixedexpectations going in to see this third entry.I don't believe anyone's mind will be blown away by this movie, but Idon't understand how anyone can walk away disappointed either. It'sTransformers.Michael Bay is a visionary director, and sometimes he gets carried awayin his work. The second movie was relative immature. This one has agood balance; brief enjoyable humor underscored by a sinisterundertone. With Dark Of The Moon, there are moments where you'll wonder, "why isthis in here?" or say "he (Bay) could have done better than that." Butthe hairs on your arms will be raised, and you might even get allemotional inside at moments, because when the movie does try to sockyou in the heart, it does so with a crippling blow.As with the first two films, there is room for improvement. But as awhole, this is a perfect addition to the trilogy, and I say it's wellworth watching.
The best of the series from the hats of Michael Bay, Special hats offto him and Steven Spielberg for the amazing special visual effect.Inclusion of the human struggle for freedom against the new treat is anadded stroy line tat supports the play. Sound effects awesome. 3Deffects spellbound. And a special thanks to the writer Ehren Kruger forovercoming Revenge of the fallen with a superb script. The chase of theautobots from Earth to the moon for the Cybertronian spacecraft setsthe plot with couple of twist (three in fact).Rosie Huntington-Whiteleyshe is damn nice compared to Mikaela who ditched our dear old"Messenger" or "Alien Badnews Magnet" boy Sam. Inclusion of Samsparents was quite unnecessary while concentrating on human-decepticonkilling agent could was a new kind of plot missing in the previousflicks. And as always one person to stand in the way of Sam :FrancesMcDormand(Mearing) was good. John Malkovich's small cameo wasinteresting especially the embrassing part of Sam. The new ally of Samis also does his part well (John Turturro) Former agent Simmons.Overall for those crazy action flick geeks and for first timers its areally a good movie to watch.
I liked the first film. I didn't desperately love it, but I liked it. Ithought that film had some heart and soul in it. I think this sums itup pretty well: I felt shivers down my bones (I get that easily) whenthe Autobots revealed themselves. The 3rd installment is just as bad as the second was. Don't pay muchattention to those who say it's better - it's just as bad but in adifferent way. The 2nd was way too packed with action and mindlessscenes where we were supposed to care. The 3rd has much less action, which should not be a bad thing. However, the lack of action isreplaced by meaningless characters doing, well, pretty much nothing ofany consequence.I'd just like films like these to have characters with some level ofdignity. Why is John Malkovich such an ass? He's like crawling on thefloor ranting something incomprehensibly stupid when seeing theAutobots. John: Walk in the room, have a look and have some dignity andgrandeur about yourself.A very very poor film indeed. With this budget, what could you havemade... oh my. I give it 3/10 - which 2 points more than some filmshave gotten from me, because at least I could watch this one to the endwithout falling asleep.
This was one of my most anticipated flicks of the summer. And at theend of the movie, I couldn't come to terms that the wait was worthnothing. It left me, a fan of the franchise and of Michael Bay, deeplydisappointed. So much that I feel its necessary to review this.Right from the start, the movie lacked coherence. Sure a plot wasvisible, but it was never seriously pursued. It was interfered veryoften by the humor that was no longer funny but became irritable. Anexcuse that every scene was significant wasn't good enough. The botslost their characters. The cast seeming to get together from theirearlier espionage wasn't planned well. overall, it didn't quite seemlike a sequel. The audience were lost in the screenplay. First half had its momentsnow and then. But the second was a total disaster. The climax seemed todrag on forever. There was very little plot and an endless amount ofRoland Emmerich there. The slow motion scenes never made sense anymoreand were totally unnecessary.Sure the visuals were a treat but could never quite gel in with thescript and the screenplay and thus lost appreciation. I tried to feelthe emotions that the movie tried to radiate, but the mindlessscreenplay blocked out everything.I give it a 4 for the visuals and visuals alone.
What an Awful display of commercialized cinema, playing to the tunes ofall the wrong stereotypes. A horrible waste of time, effort and money, specially since a lot of effort must have gone into the graphics onlyto produce this distasteful parody of sorts. This is what you get whenyou make a movie without passion or substance. Anyway, I intended toask this question since the first part. What is the point of having achick running around in these types of movies? Really, is it necessaryto have some chick in skimpy clothes romancing around with metalcrashing on metal in the background ? Unless off-course you wanted towoo schoolgirls in to watch the movie. My serious advise is, if youhave to finish with watching the 3rd installment, rent it. That way youcan fast forward through all those disgusting chick flick scenes andwatch what you paid for.
Firstly i'd like to say, to all the people who're like "Megan foxshould be in it for it to be good"....NO!!! Megan fox was a delight tobe in the movies, but these movies aren't just about 'Megan fox'. Yeahshe's stunning' and she had a good connection to Sam in the films, butcome on people, the Transformers movie's aren't romance types of films, they're summer blockbusters, action, drama, maybe a little bit ofromance in there. But all together, when people go to see these movies, they don't just look for 'Megan fox'...they come to see these movies tobe entertained. And secondly i'd read some reviews from people, andthey're taking a dislike to the new girl Rosie-Huntington Whiteley. Tbhfrom a girl who's never had any acting experience in her life, she dida darn good job as Carly. Maybe she didn't connect with Sam as much aswhat Megan fox. But the connection between the two was still there. Ithink she played the part very well, there was a couple of flaws that ipicked up on within her performance, but overall i thought she didpretty well. And now to talk about the film...I had concerns about this movie whenMichael Bay first announced he was making the movie, because he didn'treally deliver with the second film. But as the first plot lines camethrough over the web, i began to think "maybe Michael could pull thisoff after all" and then the teaser trailer came out and i thought"hmmm...this could be a good summer movie" and then when the theatricaltrailer came out i was astonished and amazed and how well this movielooked. And so i went to see it at an advance screening in IMAX 3D atthe odeon cinema in new york while i was out there. And after 2 and ahalf hours of sitting in the cinema watching this movie, i came outthinking "WOW, Michael Bay deserves a round of applause, A REALLY BIGround of applause" in fact i think this movie will be up therechallenging for best action-invasion movie ever created! This movie wassuperb..i mean the action was top notch, went at a steady pace soeveryone in the cinema could keep up. The drama in the film was intenseand i think Michael Bay finished off the trilogy amazingly well. Peoplewho are fans of the movie's will really, really enjoy this movie. Andfor people who think this movie is garbage, then you must be verystrict in what you want to see in a movie. 10/10 This summer isn't justabout Harry Potter, Transformers dark of the moon will be up there withit. Well done Mr Bay.
If you've had the misfortune of watching Battlefield L.A, you will knowwhat I mean when I say that this movie doesn't know what it wants tobe. The ancient Greeks said that for a story to satisfy the spectator,it needs to have a start, a middle and an ending. This one starts with endless scenes of Shia LaBeouf's new love life, ends with a cheap message from Optimus which makes us wonder what wasthere any different from TF1 and TF2, and the middle is a clusterfck ofuseless characters, pointless drama/jokes scenes and slow motions whichshow us nothing we haven't seen before. TEN MINUTES, you will watch oneof the Decepticons take down a building. TEN MINUTES.I'm sorry, is this the WTC September 11 reenactment of American valourand heroism, or a TRANSFORMERS MOVIE. A lot of the battle scenes areonce again poorly shot like in TF2 in very close up shots so you can'treally feel the awesomeness of huge robots fighting and the story hasmore plot holes than the Iraki navy.I started to even miss Megan Fox, at least she was eye candy.
I have enjoyed the 2 first opus, for different reasons. The 1st one wasa bit like a Disney/teen movie, funny and the story between Megan Foxand Shia LaBouf was cute, my kids loved it. In the second opus, it wasmore about pure action, like the 2nd Alien, robot fighting without anyplot whatsoever I liked it because I am a fan of CGI and Sci-Fimovies...However, I always found that Megan Fox was great here to compensate theexcessive number of robots and metal, cars and trucks in the movie. Hercharacter could have been more deep and I was expecting that M.Baywould give her a chance one day.The first thing that really made me spend a bad time in the theater isthat each time I saw Rosie Huntington-Whiteley I was thinking "she doesnot match". It is like having Lara Croft instead of Ripley in Aliens. Then, in my opinion, the chemistry between the 2 main character was notworking at all.I have nothing personal against Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, she isprobably a great artist, but she do not do a good job at replacingMegan Fox. It distracted me to the point that I could not connect withthe characters. Too much boom, bang swing, splash and no connection: Istarted watching my watch... There is a point where CGI and technicalskills, kills the movie if there is nothing else. I got enough actionin Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, so I was not so impressed bythe new actions scenes. Since Godzilla, blowing up things is nothingnew...It seems that M.Bay decided to follow the Batman, or Star Wars serieswhere the 3rd opus is more dramatic and dark than the other ones. But to get back to my point, robots even with a soul cannot replace thecute face of Megan Fox. Even if she was not the best actress (or shehad the worse script and dialogs, we will never know), she was bringingsome human beauty and feelings to the opposite mechanical actors, giving Shia a real goal to save his lovely lady: this was connecting mewith the characters and adding some humanity to an otherwise very coldmovie...M.Bay maybe think he can replace an actress with another, but us, thepublic will greatly miss Megan Fox. Transformers: Dark Side of the Moonis like a good and expensive meal where the Cook forgot to salt. I wishthey did 2 versions and they could switch to the version with Megan, because without her, this movie series lost its heart.
First off, lets remember one thing: this movie is the second sequel ofa Transformers franchise helmed by Michael Bay. Now adjust yourexpectations accordingly. This film is NOT meant to win Oscars and the like for supreme actingand plot nuances etc. It's meant to deliver tons of crazy action and alot of laughs to go with it - and boy does it follow through.'Dark Of The Moon' is not without it's faults however, so get them outthe way first. It's too long. Almost 3hrs is pushing it. Replacementlove interest Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is hopeless. The woman cannotact and her lips look like she's had an allergic reaction to something, convincing delivery of dialogue perhaps. Megatron, and the charactersof both John Malkovich and Frances McDormand are extremely underused, which is a crying shame. And of course there are some majorcontradictions in the storyline and a a few plot holes you could drivea bus through. But here's the thing - none of it should really matter. If you've seenthe first two (or any Bay movie for that matter), you'll know what toexpect, and why you're there in the first place. The action in thismovie will knock your socks off. The are two or three scenes inparticular which are worth the ticket price alone, like when Lennox andhis team skydive into the city under fire, or a big set piece in acollapsing skyscraper. Naturally, the visual effects used to pull allthis together are flawless, probably the best I've seen. Thetransformers themselves have never looked more real. The comedy comesthick and fast too. Most of the principal actors chip in, along withsome of the non-human characters as well, and 90% of the jokes hit thetarget.Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this film. If you hated the previous two,do not see this. There is nothing here to change your mind. But ifyou're like me and enjoy these, I'll bet you will love this. Well worththe time.
Just came back from the cinema watching the latest Transformers, and Iwill say this : This installment of the series is entertainment at itsbest! Note that I use the word "entertainment" and not story tellingbecause this film is what it is and makes no apologies about it.Critics and others who savage this film are obviously stuck in theirivory tower and unable to differentiate just what summer film audiencewants. You do not go to a cinema in the middle of summer expecting adose of Chauncer, Shakespeare or Hemingway! Yes, there are holes in thestory the size of elephants, but so what? You want to be entertained.End of.So here's my review. As a lay follower of the Transformers story, I am somewhat familiarwith the lead characters, and I have to say that although the movietakes creative license to the max, the end result is a satisfying 2 hrsof solid entertainment. You have it all : a revisionist view of thelunar mission, treachery by a senior ranking Autobot in Sentinel Prime, moments of comedy, a gorgeous woman, and eye popping special effectsthat will leave you breathless to the very last minute. The final houris a fantastic convergence of the story where Chicago is pulverised tosmithereens, and yes, this time unlike the previous two installments, innocent civilians can be seen vapourised on screen. The producers havealso obviously realised that the audience wants to see a more detailed,ie, slower, transformation of Autobots and Decepticons from their robotmode to their alternate mode, and the special effects team have donethat splendidly! You will be amazed. However, despite this, I could not give this a full score because I amleft with a certain level of disappointment. The relatively cheap andundignified deaths of Starscream, Megatron and Shockwave was totallyunexpected. You would think that a major character like Starscreamdeserve a more glorified death than being hit in the eye by Sam'sweapon. I could not believe these high tech villains could beundermined by really low tech solutions. That said, this is a fantastic piece of entertainment which will makeyour summer that much more memorable.
I had hoped this movie would really raise the franchise to a new level, but it doesn't. There are some really cool space sequences but overall I was disappointed. The pacing didn't seem right and the action sequences never let up.. which actually made them a little boring. The 3D was lame in my opinion as well. I felt the 3D actually made the movie feel smaller and not as grand as the last 2. I felt like I was watching the movie through a narrow tunnel. Stay away from the 3D version! There were a few funny sections and moments. But overall the movie just felt lost and disjointed. After awhile I just didn't care what happened since I never really connected to the characters like I did in the first movie. Disappointing.
I feel like cursing people who hated this movie. What kind of peopleare they who hated this movie? - People who watched Transformers justbecause of Megan Fox (Mikaela)or who didn't have clue what the hell wasgoing on in this movie. First of all, they might be confused becausethey didn't even know who is who and who is doing what. For God's sake, have they even watched the G1? This is how it all works. From the Robotstories to their wars. Don't use your brain when watching this movie.Accept the fact that this might be possible before watching movie. Keepyour brain at home and go watch the movie! Michael Bay did a fantasticjob from direction to actors. All were fantastic! He even haddiscussion with James Cameron on 3-D effects. From my opinion, the 3-Deffects were as good as Avatar. Let me make things clear. This movie is better than Revenge of thefallen. (Although I don't consider that movie terrible). Good storyline. I recommend you to go and watch the movie or perhaps I shallOrder you to GO WATCH THIS! Don't miss!
