Toy Story 3

What made the original Toy Story so great, besides its significant achievement as the first-ever feature-length computer animated film, was its ability to instantly transport viewers into a magical world where it seemed completely plausible that toys were living, thinking beings who sprang to life the minute they were alone and wanted nothing more than to be loved and played with by their children. Toy Story 3 absolutely succeeds in the very same thing--adults and children alike, whether theyve seen the original film or not, find themselves immediately immersed in a world in which Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack), Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head (Don Rickles and Estelle Harris), Ham (John Ratzenberger), Rex (Wallace Shawn), the aliens, and the rest of Andys toys remain completely devoted to Andy (John Morris) even as hes getting ready to pack up and leave for college. Woody scoffs at the other toys worries that theyll end up in the garbage, assuring them that theyve earned a spot of honor in the attic, but when the toys are mistakenly donated to Sunnyside Daycare, Woody is the only toy whose devotion to Andy outweighs the promise of getting played with each and every day. Woody sets off toward home alone while the other toys settle in for some daycare fun, but things dont turn out quite as expected at the daycare thanks to the scheming, strawberry-scented old-timer bear Lots-o-Huggin (Ned Beatty). Eventually, Woody rejoins his friends and they all attempt a daring escape from the daycare, which could destroy them all. The pacing of the film is impeccable at this point, although the sense of peril may prove almost too intense for a few young viewers. Pixars 3-D computer animation is top-notch as always and the voice talent in this film is tremendous, but in the end, its Pixars uncanny ability to combine drama, action, and humor in a way that irresistibly draws viewers into the world of the film that makes Toy Story 3 such great family entertainment. Toy Story 3 Blows the Doors Off of Every Disney/Pixar Movie Yet

When I first discovered that their was going to be a third Toy Story, Iwas blown away. Toy Story was a groundbreaking movie and the second onewas phenomenal. But the third, combined both and made it even moregreat. I went into the theaters having no idea what to expect, andnothing went the way I thought. Surprisingly, the film was gripping, and hilarious, epic even. I even shed a tear. If you saw Toy Story, seethis movie. If you saw Toy Story 2, see this movie. If you didn't seeToy Story, see this movie. If you didn't see Toy Story 2, see thismovie. If you've seen Toy Story 3, see it again. Disney and Pixar have outdone themselves and set the bar impossiblyhigher for future films.

Review: Toy Story 3

All I can say is wow. I was blown away when this movie turned out to bedouble my highest expectations. This will go down as one of the bestmovie trilogies of all time. It is the first trilogy I have ever seenwhere I gave 10 stars to every movie in it. There is an all-star castthat makes up the group of toys which Andy unintentionally sends to adaycare when leaving to college. I'm not going to give away any moreplot details, because you have to see it to believe it. There's notmuch more I can say--wonderful animation, lovable characters, convincing villains, lots of humor, sadness, action sequences, creativity and unseen plot twists--Pixar has done it again. Exceedingthe first two, Toy Story 3 flies to infinity and beyond.

One of the best Animation-Family movies!!!

Toy story 2 is by far better than Toy story 1.The whole story is great and original, the movie is very funny with a lot turns and action. There are many great scenes just like the one at the toy-store and at the airport. There are also 3 great characters and a lot of fun!!!!Don't miss it...I hope for Toy story 3 to come

Amazing

This movie is by far my favorite out of the series. I was in line the day it came out, more excited than the little kids surrounding me.It raises the question of "What happens to the toys when the kid outgrows them"? The story follows Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the whole gang as they find out the answer first hand. The answer left me in tears and feeling guilty about getting rid of my toys, over the years. lolToy Story 3 does an excellent...more than excellent...job of not falling into the trap that sequels always fall into. (They shouldn't have been made and the filmakers should've just stopped with the first one). But, the third installment of Pixar's Toy Story went to infinity and beyond (yeah, I went there) on living up to the hype that was surrounding the movie, as soon as word of it came out. There were plenty of laughs and plenty of tears throughout the movie, but overall it was a very heart-felt and a very wonderful movie that I plan on seeing multiply times and buying as soon as it hits the shelves. You will not be disappointed in the least.

The Toy-gang, 3D, A Prison Break, A Classic Ending.

Toy Story was a movie that reintroduced Animated Movies to the massaudience, way back in 1995. Now 15 years later comes a movie whenanimated movies are plenty, most of them fail to charm us like theyonce used to and a time when sequels are rarely good as the originals.A few months back, I concluded(rather hastily) that this year noanimated movie can beat 'How to train your Dragon' and was almost sureof it after seeing the latest Shrek. But then who would have though thegood old woody-Buzz-and-the-toy-gang in their third installment wouldchange all that with a gripping plot, brilliant graphics, right amountof humor and a superb ending that would make sure you will remember thetoys for a long , long time.Andy, the kid had grown up to become a teenager. He's going to collegeand decides to bundle up his favorite toys in the attic. But 'fate' hasa different idea for the toy gang and they end up (along with Barbie)ata daycare. Initially it looks like a homely daycare but it turns out tobe far from that. A couple of charming new characters, neat script andan immensely fun adventure will ensure you forget all your worries andenjoy the next one and a half hour. Finally,The ending is the best seen in any animated movie that willleave you totally satisfied and hoping that a couple of years later thetoy gang would return to surprise the box office and make one other dayjust awesome for you .

Only gets better

This review is from: Toy Story 3 (Four-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I love the Toy Story movies and now my kids do too. We watched this in the theatre and my 4 year-old wanted to go get the DVD as soon as we walked out. Guess what he is getting for Christmas.

This didn't work for me until the very end

Dark story of Andy going to college and the toys in danger of beingthrown out or given away.I won't go into the details of the plot because odds are you alreadyknow it. Basically all thats left is for me to take a stand on thesmall side of people who don't like the film. Beautifully animated withseveral nice set pieces, the film emotionally and character wise didn'twork for me. The film, for what ever reason just seems terribly wrong. Its not the dark tone of the film that bothers me, except perhaps thatthe people at Pixar seem intent on making this black and bittersweet. Iknow part of th problem is that several of the characters, especiallyWoody, seem to have been shipped in from another film. How did Woodyend up so psycho? I don't know.I don't see the point of ripping the film apart since odds are you'regoing to love this. Personally I think this is probably Pixars biggestmistake, but then again thats just my opinion.

Another outing for Woody and the gang, another masterpiece for Pixar.

SoloHero5 2012-05-12 18:59:09

I'm 19 years old... but wile watching I was a child again.

I'm nineteen and I wasn't as enthusiastic about going to see this as Iwas when I was eight years old.I entered the theatre; the lights went out, the movie began, and afterthe first twenty seconds I was a child again. The laughter came oftenand natural. The story was even better then the previous two combined.I went to go see this with my seven year old nephew and if I laughedthat much when I was his age I know I had a good childhood. The mix ofhumour and emotion mad this movie one of the best I have ever seen, including big ones like Godfather and Shawshank. This movie is both hard and easy to review because you try to look atthe down sides to the movie but the hard part is that there isn't any.I'm sure if you shut off your emotions you could see a fault of two butwhen it comes to an animated trilogy this is by far the most enjoyabletime you can spend in a theatre... The best part, you can bring yourkids.I can't vote... in my opinion ten isn't enough!

And Pixar did it again...

Sequels are a tricky thing; especially the ones which are supposed toend a movie series. Try and do too much, and the audience will be leftwith a sour memory, do too little and the audience will be leftunsatisfied. A good sequel is one which presents something new andinteresting to the audience but still manages to mesh seamlessly withthe previous installment. Unfortunately, there are very few movieseries which can claim to have enthralled the audiences with each newinstallment. Some of the more recent ones that come to mind are theLord of the Rings series and the Jason Bourne series. The latestentrant into this category is the Toy Story series.Ever since Woody and gang entered our consciousness, they haveenthralled us with their pranks, idiosyncrasies, and their camaraderie. After the second movie released in 1999, all the fans - includingyours' truly - were waiting for the third movie with bated breath. Asit turned out, it was a good thing that no one held their breaths for along time; because the third movie took a really long time to come. Butwhat was finally dished out ensured that Toy Story would remaineternally ensconced in our hearts as one of the finest animated moviesever made. The movie starts with most of the toys' - and I guess a lot of fans' -worst nightmare coming true; Andy is all grown up and ready to go offto college. The question confronting the toys is 'Where now?' Most ofthe toys have been given away in the yard sale over the years. The onlyones who remain are Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, Slinky, Rex, Hamm,Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, and the three-eyed space aliens from thePizza Planet. The moment when Andy's mom puts the toys - except Woody, whom Andy is taking to college with him - in the trash can instead ofthe attic, is when the fun begins. Though the toys do manage to escapethe getting crushed in the trash collecting truck, they end up in a daycare center where they meet a lot of new toys including Lots-O'-Huggin'bear, Big Baby (an actual big baby doll), and Ken. Then follows anightmare that makes the attic in Andy's house look like heaven. Theireventual escape from there is classic sequence with lots of nail bitingmoments. And the ending? Well, let's just say that by the end of themovie, it will be hard not to feel goose bumps. The movie is a perfectbalance of hilarious moments (none more than Buzz getting reset toSpanish settings), dark moments, and really touching moments. The central characters still continue to enthrall you. All the previousactors/actresses return to reprise their roles. And the actualcharacters still retain their freshness. Woody is still the tough-but-kind cowboy of the first two movies. Buzz is still the boy-scout spaceranger, though he seems to be a bit tongue-tied when speaking to Jessie(not the Spanish Buzz though). Rex is still trying - and failing - tolook menacing. Mr. Potato Head is still the eternal pessimist with asarcastic humor. So what has changed? For starters, the toys are nolonger facing a threat from Sid the evil-neighborhood-kid or Al fromthe Al's toy barn, but from Andy himself. And for once Woody is notshowing as much confidence in Andy as he once used to. Somehow, the plight of the characters is synonymous to the situationthat each of us has to face at some time or another. Whether it begetting selected for the school play, or in a sports team, or beingaccepted by your peers during the day of school/college/work. And thesimilarities don't end here. Time and again you will be reminded of thevarious 'last days' that you have had. Last day at the school, last dayof your graduation, last day at an office you have worked in for a longtime, the day when you moved out of your home, and so on. The emptyfeeling that you tend to get, the sad farewells that you might have hadwith your closest friends, the fond memories of the times - good or bad- that you might have shared, the uncertainty of whether you will evermeet your friends again; all these feeling somehow fight their way upamongst all the worries that the modern day life tends to heap upon us.If nothing else, watch the movie for just reminiscing those moments.Pixar's animation is awesome as usual. The direction is great. Thesecurity arrangements made by the toys at the day care center is verycleverly done; trucks for watch guards, and slides for watch towers. The escape sequence of the toys from the day care is cleverly directed.Randy Newman provides great music once again, kicking off the moviewith the familiar 'You've Got a Friend In Me' track. The rest of themusic provides good support to the movie. It's very difficult to point out any flaws in the plot of the movie, except that it gets a bit serious too many times. But then, it's OKconsidering the fact that it was essential for the movie to end the wayit did.All-in-all, it is one of the finest animated movies I have ever seen. And Toy Story is definitely one of the best trilogies I have ever seen. When the release of the sequel was announced, my greatest fear waswhether Toy Story 3 would be able to stand up to the first two movies;considering the fact that it was being made after more than a decade. But, not only has it stood up to the first two movies, in my humbleopinion, it has surpassed the first two movies.

Very Disappointing

I saw a special screening of this in Arizona last night. The firsttwenty minutes of the movie are very promising, and almost lives up tothe original. However, then the film simply DRAGS and DRAGS. Itsliterally almost two hours long, which would be OK if it was a goodmovie, but it isn't. I loved the first two, but this is just BAD. The3D effects were cheesy, awkward, and badly played, the animation isn'timproved from the first two. The jokes were horrible. Even my sevenyear old nephew said it was unfunny. The plot was extremelypredictable, without any twists.Along with that, Tim Allen (Buzz) sounds fine. However, Tom Hanks(woody) sounds AWFUL. He sounds too old for the part. They should havegotten somebody younger. This movie doesn't deserve to be called Toy Story. You would think 11years would be enough to make a decent sequel, but this was just ajoke. This gets a very generous 2/10 from me. 0 stars for the movie, 3 forthe name Toy Story, -1 For the Failed hopes and dreams.

movie review

I, Alistair Coate, have a movie review for Toy Story 3. I saw it and it was hilarious. It had lots of other sadness, romance, suspense and happiness. I would give this movie an 'A'. It is a great movie for kids and adults. My favorite part was when the train was going to crash and fall off the bridge and it had orphans on it and then Buzz Lightyear got hold of the train and saved it.

The Best Toy Story Yet!

This review is from: Toy Story 3 (DVD) Of course, who doesn't love this movie? It was so cute and funny and the best part is that I bought it as a set with Disney's Cars Mater's Tall Tales for a great price and it was SOOO worth it! Thanks Amazon!

Woody, Buzz & Co. triumph again but lose a bit of magic.

Worth of watching, but not necessarily worth of the cinema entry price

Before watching the movie myself, I first read a couple of otherreviews and even got surprised finding this movie no. 27 of top 250movies. however, I don't think Toy Story 3 deserves such a high rank:The animations might not be the worst, but on the other hand they arenot quite the best as well. I don't want to spoil anyone: The plotitself matches the level of a Disney movie: Not too complicated forsmall kids to understand, but not that interesting to keep you in frontof the telly for the whole time. Nevertheless, one has to keep in mindthat Toy Story 3 is mainly for children rather than adults, so it's notquite fair to compare it to adult-movies. It was entertaining at somepoints, but at some parts I wasn't quite sure whether something wassupposed to be funny or not, so the tin-laugh would have been useful. As I said, I don't think Toy Story deserves the rating of 8.7 ascompared to other movies, If you ask me it's "worth watching", but whengoing to the pictures, I'd think twice if it's really worth the 10bucks.Hence: 6/10

A Perfect Film !!!!!

This movie is PIXAR's best work . This movie captures the degree ofhuman emotions that even real human movies couldn't do. I had tears inmy eyes when I was watching this movie. Throughout the movie I justkept on saying Great !!! Great !!! Great !!! I haven't watched previous toy story films , but i never felt watchingprevious versions while watching this movie.I think the animation was perfect thanks to PIXAR's unbeatabletechnology.I have watched this movie in 3D,I couldn't find any 3D effects init, but never mind. You can watch this movie in 2D because it doesn'tmake any difference. I would recommend this movie to everyone who like watching good(actually great!!!) movies. Hope this review will prove useful ,Bye!!!

Wow...simply...wow

I am a 16 year old who grew up with Toy story. I watched the first twofilms over and over and over again, loving it each time. In my opinion,Toy Story 3 wasn't meant for young children. It was definitely meantfor us, the ones who grew up with it. For those children who watch itonly because it's a G-Rated movie, they will not get the emotionalfeeling coming off of it. I admit, at the beginning of Toy Story 3,when they showed all the memories of Andy with his toys, I started totear up, partially because Andy represents us, the older ones, and howsome of us are heading off to college, like Andy. As for the movie itself, it was simply outstanding. The actorsperformed exactly as they did in the first two, and it brought backmany memories for me. The plot was amazing and all new characters fellinto the Toy Story family with ease. Ken was, in my opinion, a verywell played character, and rather funny too. Trixie was another funnyaddition, and probably my favorite new character. The humor in the movies was HILARIOUS! Not too much, and not toolittle. It was very funny to see Buzz turn into his Spanish Mode. Oneof my favorites parts, that was. Trixie and her computer was anotherfunny moment for me as well. No matter how many words I type here, none will ever say how I reallyfeel about this movie. It had everything I expected out of it, and muchmore.11/10 for this amazing movie. Go watch it.

Wow, this was great

This film was so powerful. I know it is a "cartoon" but it was so profound. It will really get the adults at the end and captivates the children the entire time. There are a few scary parts for sensitive really young children so be cautious. As a parent, you will have some tears...

2012-04-30 12:11:09

Great movie, even for adults.

This review is from: Toy Story 3 (DVD) It is a great movie for children and adults alike. Just like in real life, our children have to leave home to go to college and as adults we hold many memories dear to our hearts. Truely a classic.
