It Was Pretty Good

I missed some bits of it, but it was very fun. I hardly watched any ofthe newer Tom and Jerry movies. This was pretty fun. Tom and Jerry areabandoned from a ship, and wash ashore on an island infested with evil,and must find this treasure.The movie drags a bit, but Tom and Jerry work together or against eachother to get that treasure and avoid those scurvy pirates. There wassome pretty funny lines. Kids will enjoy it, and I am teen agedanimation fan, and I enjoyed it too.The animation was pretty good, but it was a tad too short.Overall, an enjoyable family Tom and Jerry movie.A 7.9 out of 10.

Colourful and mildly enjoyable film, if rather formulaic in plot

Tom and Jerry in Shiver Me Whiskers was an enjoyable film, that kidswill definitely love, and adults will be mildly entertained by. Theanimation is very colourful, and the voice cast, including Mark Hamill,Wallace Shawn and Kevin Michael Richardson were top notch. Where thefilm is lacking though is the rather formulaic plot, and the dialogueis nothing special. It probably doesn't help the film is a tad tooshort though. Of course it is reared more at kids, but adults willenjoy the voice cast, and they won't be disappointed in any of thecharacters, because Tom and Jerry are still great characters, and themusic is very nice indeed. I do admit I love anything to do withpirates, after loving films like Pirates of the Caribbean:Curse of theBlack Pearl and Muppet Treasure Island. Overall, Shiver me Whiskers, iscolourful, easy to like, and very enjoyable. 7/10 Bethany Cox

Fun movie for the young and slightly older

This Tom & Jerry movie details the struggle of three pirate brothers tofind the 'Treasure of the Spanish 'Mane'' and the subsequent conningand struggling of a cat, a mouse, and sometimes a dog.Those of you who are used to and love the Old School Tom & Jerry skitsmight be taken off guard by the animation which, although excellent andseamless in quality, is undoubtedly modern to the point where it isclear that some scenes use advanced 2D rendition programs. One mightsay that the movie looks far too smooth and some of the skits are toopredictable and are found to lack humor while they are most likelytrying to signify a revisitation to the old 60's series, but this isoffset by quite a few comical moments; the continuous skit of Tom andJerry trying to con each-other out of a treasure map in a resoundinglyPC and courteous way while dodging monkeys, a dog, marine life forms,the pirates and the terrain itself allows for quite a few laughs, whilethe pirate brothers, their parrots and the skull of the treasureprovide non-slapstick, verbal comedy throughout the movie, which Ipresume will appeal to the somewhat older. One thing is sure; though abit modernized at times, the music is clearly reminiscent of it'soriginal '60 predecessor; it still has the old WB stuff and doesn'tmind showing it.T&J Shiver Me Whiskers incorporates elements which I suspect are meantto offset the modern vibe of the movie somewhat; static objects have agenerally acrylic and solid feel, adding to the atmosphere of thepicture, whereas many backgrounds and statics also bolster apurposefully slightly granular consistency. Also fun was the nods thisflick made to recent movies; it clearly inherits a little from 'Piratesof the Caribbean', proved by the fact that one or two melodies seem tobe alterations of Klaus Badelt's compositions. But most importantly, Ifeel as though this movie has retained - or regained - some of theheart of the old Tom & Jerry many know and love. This movie has helpedme see that some of the old and gold does have the ability to evolvewithout losing the essence of what makes it fun.For being a clever and fun adaptation of a great series, for trying toignore the newer - inferior - series, and for holding my attention forthe full 75 minutes of its running time, 3.5 of 5, ***
