The best television series of the 90's

If there is one television series that separates the 80s televisionmedium from the 90s it is the X-files. First aired in 1992 it instantlydefined itself as a breed apart from all other SCI-FI shows that everexisted. Over the years The X-Files has grown worldwide becoming aninternationally watchable show and surely one of the most watched andhighest rated shows in the US. It's intricate plot and story twists havekeptthe show fresh injecting a boost of alien confusion to keep audiences ontheedge and inimically open to any kind of future

The Voice at the end of each episode

I watch the X-Files almost every night on TV, I like the olderepisodes, but I would like 2 know if the boys voice at the end of eachshow who says "I made this" is Chris Carter the writer of the X-Files,if not who is the voice, and does it have a significant part to theseries. Who is the Father of Scullys baby? Who is the man with the cigarette, what is his role in the show, is he with the FBI? I'm not familiar with the charters of the show, and I don''t understanda lot of the plots that's why I've taken a interest in the show. Ireally want to know about Scully's baby and what happen 2 Mulder, willhe ever find out about his baby or not?

I thought the movie was great!! I think that mulder and scully should definetly hook up and do it already. I mean we all know that they like eachother!! So i give it 5 stars. You who haven't seen it should and i dont usually watch the series, and i fully understood the movie!

Entertaining transfer from TV to the big screen

THE X FILES Aspect ratio: 2.39:1 (Super 35)Sound formats: Dolby Digital / DTS / SDDSAcolytes and novices alike will find much to enjoy in Rob Bowman's THEX FILES - the concept makes a smooth transition from TV to the silverscreen. The plot is remarkably convoluted - something about an ancientalien organism whose attempts to colonize Earth are uncovered byintrepid FBI agents Mulder and Scully - but Chris Carter's scriptmaintains an equally remarkable sense of clarification, making explicitwhat might otherwise have been buried under tons of scientificgobbledegook. The narrative hops from scene to scene, location tolocation, while refusing to sacrifice its characters in favor ofspecial effects set-pieces, but the film is nevertheless loaded withwidescreen spectacle. There's a graphic explosion in the first twentyminutes which is uncomfortably reminiscent of the real-life bombingwhich destroyed the Oklahoma Federal Building several years earlier, and another explosion during the climax which leaves a VERY big hole inthe Antarctic landscape. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson adapt tothe new format with ease, and the fine supporting cast is a veritablewho's who of veteran character actors. Many fans are agreed that thisis not the Files' finest hour, but the film plays fair with audienceexpectations and bodes well for future entries in this particularfranchise.

Just like an episode

I am quite a fan of the television show 'The X-Files', and the movie 'TheX-Files' was just like an episode, except about 3 times as long (notcounting the advertisements in the series) and a bigger budget. But it wasmade to be like an episode, it continued where the series left off, and thenext series will continue where the movie left off. It is about as good asan average episode, but this one lags a little, gets a bit boring, but attimes, it livens up a lot. The movie is about the alien black stuff thattakes over people's bodies. A lot of the questions of the series areanswered, yet some more are made. The blowing-up building at the beginningwas terrific, with great special-effects. I will give it a 7 out of 10.

Nothin Compares!

This movie is awesome!! If you love believable characters, intelligent suspense and amazing effects you can't go wrong with the X-Files Movie. Fans and non-fans (of the show) alike in my circle of friends have watched it, and ALL of them LOVED it. Bring something to clutch and more than a few working brain cells-- you'll need both! Excellent!

The BEST movie of 1998.....and ever!

This was the GREATEST movie I have ever seen. The mythology mixed with the Mulder and Scully sexual-tension relationship is just great! The special effects are out of this world and the complex characters, stirred in with scandles is SPIFFY!! I reccommend that you see this movie, you will watch it over and over.......

It's hard to make a single comment about the greatest movie ever.

This movie was great. It had it all from the Shippy hallway scene toexploding buildings. We even had a good dose of some evil aliens, which weNEVER get to see on the show. All I have to say is that Chris Carter is acloset Shipper and he may or may not know it, but it'strue...The Truth is Out There, so Trust No One (except your partner)

Nearly there...

Too mass audience; too clumsy; too dull.Would have been much better to make the first movie an more-than-TV-scary MOW - to show horror movie makers what to do.Maybe the next movie will be a Millennium crossover...

Cool..

Better than I had expected it to be.. I even think that it could have lastedlonger.. it ended too quickly.Highly recommended!

Best Movie ever ...

Never I saw such a good movie since "Schindlers List" in 1993.The story was great, the actors were fantastic and Mulder and Scully are the sweetest couple since "Remington Steele" (Laura and Remington).I hope that they make more films like this. Perhaps they will continue their work for cinema-movies when the Series has finished (like Star Trek). Every one or two years a new X-Files movie...

From a Fan: A Little Underwhelming

I was an X-Phile. When the movie came out, I had watched almost everysingle episode. I continued to watch the show after the movie, but myinterest had wavered by the seventh series. This movie was okay but underwhelming. It just didn't have the scaleand scope that a movie should have compared to a television series. Nowtelevision has come in leaps and bounds over time. Just look at whatthey do on '24' each week - every episode is like a mini-movie. Andmany of the X-File episodes like the 'Duane Barry' trilogy, and'Anasazi' trilogy were cracking in their pace and drama. But the moviejust feels like a glorified television episode. I remember adocumentary on the making of the movie, and the cast and crew wereexcitedly describing the opening of the movie where a bomb goes off ina building. Now everyone involved was understandably chuffed andexcited by the new experience, but all filmgoers know that blowing upthings are like the meat and potatoes of action movies. It's been doneover and over and over.Overall, they were trying to push forward for the hardcore fans butalso draw in a wider audience. This holds the movie back in many ways. The plot was a tad too complex and insiderish for the non-fans and theyslightly over-estimated the fanbase pleasure at just seeing Mulder,Scully and the Cigarette Man on the big-screen. The big sequences - thebomb, the corn field - were not large enough for the average person.Winking at the fans like Mulder and Scully 'stung kissing' and Scullymissing out seeing the paranormal stuff was cute but becoming a bit toomuch of a tease by this stage. There were no great revelations ortwists for anybody. Too much sitting around in smoke-filled rooms andnot enough humour. The above is mostly criticism because I was a long-time fan. But it'snot a bad film - like I said, just a big TV episode. If you were a fanof the show and for some reason haven't seen it yet, you should give ita whirl. Others could probably give it a miss. They're saying now thatthe second film will be more of a monster of the week thing than amythology thing, which shows they may have learnt something. I mean, the mythology eventually became so convoluted with so many questionsand almost no answers that I don't think they could make it into anaccessible movie if they tried. For the next movie, I assume ChrisCarter, Frank Spotnitz, and Rob Bowman will be the likely creative teambut all the hardcore fans know that Glen Morgan and James Wong wrotesome of the best eps - however they too have fallen off the wagon -'Final Destination' movies and 'The One.' Oh well, fingers crossedanyway ...

Awesome

This review is from: The X-Files (aka Fight the Future) (DVD) DVD's contain so much more information about the movie! There is a voice over on one of the english tracks that explains scene by scene what the director had in mind. Totally Awesome!

thexfilesman 2012-05-03 08:13:23

The truth is out there...

Yes, Fight the future is a great movie supported with original visualeffects. Chris Carter has proven his professionalism with this movie onemore time I think. It's good to give clues about the characters who alsostars in the TV show. I can't imagine an X-phile who hasn't seen Fight thefuture yet.

Not enough info!

Before the movie came out, I watched the show all the time. That season of the presentation of the movie, I had stopped watching. When I went to see the movie, I had no idea what was going on! People said that they were giving all the secrets away, but what secrets?! They didn't tell you what the background story of the secrets were! And if they did, well, I must have fallen asleep! For those of you that don't watch the show, DON'T rent this movie! If you love it, you've already seen it!
