Santas got problems its a few days before Christmas and production lags, Mrs. Claus is about to give birth and wants family time, and Jack Frost (tired of second billing) is on probation under Santas supervision. Santa tries to support his wife by bringing her parents to the North Pole (to preserve the secret of Santa, they must think its Canada). Santa also brings his ex, her husband, and their daughter Lucy. Inside the toy factory, Jack makes mischief and hatches a plan to become Santa. With Santa juggling that many snow globes, something is bound to go wrong. But if things get too difficult, Santa can always exercise his option to invoke the Escape Clause. Will he?

We have taken some photos of "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause". They represent actual movie quality.
STRIKE 3 - YOU ARE OUT!! I thought that for sure this movie would be aninstant comedy classic because the prince of comedy, Martin Short, wasgoing to be the evil villain. Boy, was I ever wrong.NOTHING was funny in this movie. I'd hardly classify this movie as acomedy. The farting reindeer wasn't funny the first time and then theyhad them fart AGAIN about 20 seconds later like it would be funny thattime, and it wasn't. None of Martin Short's lines garnered laughs. Justawkward "was that supposed to be funny" reactions. And Mrs. Claus instirrups and 9 months pregnant? That is just too much, let alone for akid audience. Kids don't need to see that kind of stuff.Martin Short and Tim Allen did not have ANY comedic chemistry. Everyscene and each dialogue just seemed too over-rehearsed and predictable. And the kid actors SUCKED big time. You'd think with such a largebudget they could get some decent kid actors. The kid that playedSanta's right arm man that knows the secrets and clauses was the worstkid actor I've ever watched in my life. How did THIS kid get to be in aBIG movie like this? He must have a good agent.I give this movie a 1 out of 10 because I was not entertained or amusedby this holiday comedy. I predict this movie will be on DVD by the timeChristmas rolls around.
When the movie started, I was wondering if I was watching a re-do of that train wreck that Tim Allen did called 'The Shaggy Dog'.The movie is bit different in starting and takes a while to catch your interest. That's why my review says to 'Give it a chance'. I will say that anybody who has not seen the first two should steer clear of this movie. You won't enjoy it. If you have seen the other two, it is worth seeing.I am an avid fan of Tim Allen and collector of Christmas DVDs. This will definitely be added to my collection as I am always looking for good Christmas movies for the entire family. The humor in this movie definitely not as present as the previous two. I was disappointed that the reindeers were not featured more as in the second one. Martin Short as Jack Frost was something that I was not too sure of, but he manages to pull it off. There is more focus on Lucy (Neil and Laura's daughter) as well as the magical characters (Mother Nature, Easter Bunny, etc.). If you enjoy movies involving the paradox of time travel, there is a small bit of it but that part feels a bit rushed. With other Christmas movies such as The Nativity Story coming out later this Christmas season, I think that they timed the release of this movie okay. If those others deliver as the trailers have shown, I think Santa Clause 3 would lose out to them. Enjoy it and Merry Christmas!
This review is from: The Santa Clause 3 - The Escape Clause (DVD) I am quite pleased with it. It arrived on time and in new condition.
The first film was a good fun film to enjoy, the second time not somuch so, and unfortunately this third instalment isn't any improvement, but I stuck with it to the end. Basically Santa Claus (Razzie nominatedTim Allen) aka Scott Calvin and his new wife pregnant Carol (Lost'sElizabeth Mitchell) are running the North Pole and the Elvesefficiently and getting ready for the next oncoming Christmas. But anew problem crops up when the naughty Jack Frost (Razzie nominatedMartin Short) has been causing trouble, and he is put on probation andit is up to Santa to keep an eye on him. Of course with presentsneeding to be made and wrapped this is not easy, and the Claus' areconcentrating more on Carol's parents, the Newmans, father Bud (AlanArkin) and mother Sylvia (Ann-Margret) coming to visit. While they cometo the North Pole, fooled into thinking it is Canada, and Scott'sex-wife Laura (Wendy Crewson), his son Charlie (Eric Lloyd) and Laura'shusband Neil Miller (Beverly Hills Cop's Judge Reinhold) are hanginground too, Jack Frost is ready to cause more trouble. He knows he canfinally get some recognition he craves by becoming the new Santa Claus, and he knows that the hall of snow shakers hides the one that canchange the past and future. So with Scott pressured and tricked intoit, they go twelve years ago when Scott caused the original Santa tofall off the roof, and Jack shouts and ultimately puts on the red coatto take the helm. They return to the present day in the alternativeworld, where Scott is thin and brown haired working in his office likehe used to, and the North Pole is advertised as a theme park attractionwith Jack as the new Santa Claus to run the show. Returning to theNorth Pole and with a little help, Scott manages to grab the snow globethat caused this situation, and double cross Jack into doing the sameas he did to him. So they go back twelve years again, and Scott stopsJack shouting again to watch the past Scott shout and the futurerestore itself, just in time for Christmas Eve and delivery time, forhis baby too. Also starring The Cat in the Hat's Spencer Breslin asCurtis, Liliana Mumy as Lucy Miller, Little Miss Sunshine's AbigailBreslin as Trish, Art LaFleur as Tooth Fairy, Kevin Pollak as Cupid,Aisha Tyler as Mother Nature, Jay Thomas as Easter Bunny, Star Trek:The Next Generation's Michael Dorn as Sandman and Peter Boyle as FatherTime. Allen is still alright as the lead, Short is pretty annoying asthe bad guy, the inclusion of Arkin doesn't add to much, the story isslightly better than the last, there are small laughs and Christmasfun, but as a whole it is a silly seasonal family fantasy comedy. Itwas nominated the Razzie for Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment,Worst Prequel or Sequel and Worst Screen Couple for Allen and Short.Okay!
A real, painfully forced entry. It takes on the old alternate realityscenario. If ever a sign that your movie is pointless, the alternativereality is that sign. Jack Frost wants to steal Santa's limelight bybecoming Santa. In this offering the human drama is sidelined, and isthe simple getting on with the in-laws shtick. There's really not a lotto like here, as it all just feels like a quick cheap installment. Theplot seems rushed and lazy. The focus of the first two was Allen'srelationship with his son, which is now completely gone. There'snothing in here that excites as much as the second, nor warms the heartor makes you laugh like the first. It's a shame that a franchise whichstarted out exploring a divorced couple and the son in the middle, aswell as mental problems, is reduced to this tripe.
Yes, I am am adult and yes, I was probably more excited to see thisthird movie than my 3 children. I really loved the first two movies. This third is a must see in the "set", but I have to say, it's not myfavorite. It's very hard to compete with the excellent first 2 movies.I didn't like that Charlie isn't played often enough. I also did carefor the actors that starred as Mrs. Clause's parents. Yes, Ann-Margaretand Alan Arkin are terrific actors, but not perfect for this role asthe in-laws, I thought. Martin Short was excellent! He is so evil andhe does it well! Lucy is a doll! She stole the movie. I loved thismovie... it's a great end to the other two, but I don't think theyshould make any more. Curtis's role as an elf was better when he was akid! Yes, Bernard's appearance was highly missed. If you loved thefirst two, see this 3rd, otherwise wait until October of next year torent it.
The idea behind "Santa Clause 3" might work were it not for the excessive nastiness and cynicism that permeates it. "Santa Clause 1" was light on its feet, fully exploiting the possibilities in the premise with humor and, for the most part, sweetness (some of the late-movie elf stuff was a little overboard). "Santa Clause 2" was enjoyable, keeping the sweetness but leaving out the pepper supplied in the original by David Krumholtz as Bernard the Elf. It was a bit too syrupy."Santa Clause 3" goes several bridges too far in the opposite direction. It gives us sort of a corporate takeover by Nazis, and revels in the misery resulting. And that, folks, is not what I want from a Christmas movie.
This movie was very cute. A good family movie, but it could use somework. Even though it has a cute story line where Jack Frost tries tosteal Christmas and Carol aka Mrs. Clause is pregnant. But I have tosay this movie is not as good as the first two. The first one wasgreat, cute, the true story of Santa. The second introduces Mrs.Clause, Carol. And the third talks about how it would have been ifthere was no Scot Clavin as Santa. Let me just tell you it isn't a goodlife for most people around Scot. But out of 10 I would give this moviea 7. Very Creaative, Cute, A Family Film Everyone Will Enjoy. If yourkids really want to see this movie take them, it is worth it to hearthem laugh and enjoy the movie.
The Santa Clause 3 is a good movie for anyone to get into the Christmasspirit. It is hard to believe it, but Christmas is coming, and this isthe perfect movie too see. I really liked how they brought back most ofthe main cast from the first two films. I think that Scott's ex-wifeand her husband are hilarious, I am glad that they included them inthis movie along with their cute daughter Lucy. There were only a fewthings that I didn't like... 1. The previous head elf Bernard was notin the movie, the new one did not work with me. 2. I would of liked toof seen more of Charlie, he was hardly present in this movie. Althoughthere were those couple of things that I would of changed myself, themovie was still great and kids and adults alike will enjoy this movie.I hope that they make a Santa Clause 4 in the future.
This review is from: The Santa Clause 3 - The Escape Clause (DVD) Enjoyable! For those folks who enjoyed the first two movies, the holiday fun continues. We watched it late Christmas Eve after Santa already visited our home. Great family entertainment!
Good as only Tim Allen could make it but getting darker as with Harry Potter. Still enjoyed Martin Short's Jack Frost. Certainly was evil enough with just enough application of the "nasty tricks" appropriate to the genre he was in.
We took our 2 children ages 3&4 to see this movie before Christmas andit really had me wishing we stayed home. The movie starts out OK, butreally goes down hill very quickly and stays on that track for theentire movie. The only Character that was worth watching - and onlypart of the time - was Martin Short who plays Jack frost. The rest ofthe Characters came off as annoying and the delivery on any humour wascompletely off. Half way thru the movie my children became veryrestless and uninterested in the show (they both are very good atsitting thru whole movies). Santa Clause 3 completely failed at keepingParents and children entertained. I would not recommend this movie toanyone - not even as a renter.
I must admit, I loved the original movie "The Santa Clause", and Tim Allen was wonderful as the father turned Santa. It was a funny, magical movie for families to watch. Even the follow-up movie was cute and got my ok.But this movie was not funny, nor cute, and especially not magical. It was all about a mean Jack Frost trying to trick Santa. Not a pleasant feeling anywhere throughout the movie.
I bought this DVD because I had the other two. I did not like this as much as the other two DVD's but it was still entertaining.
Took the kids to see this and they loved it. I didn't have highexpectations but was entertained and got the predictable feel good, happy ending. I agree with others that it was a couple notches betterthan the second movie. All and all, a good way to kick off the holidaymovie season.Other notes of interest: The actress playing Mrs. Clause is on the T.V.show Lost now. That took a little getting used to. Martin Short did anice job as Jack Frost. The blooper reel at the end of the movie ispretty lame. Not funny at all. Plus, when the bloopers are literallyshown 3 seconds after the end of the movie, it takes away from themovie itself. The kids are still smiling and in a magical place then"poof", magic is over here are the actors messing up their lines. It'slike seeing Peter Pan on stage and right after the show, they show youall the wires that were used to make him fly. Save the bloopers for theDVD.
I just got back from seeing this movie and I have to say it was prettygood. I didn't go to the theater with high hopes, however, so it waseasy to meet my expectations. We loved the other 2 movies and had tofinish the trilogy! This one could be titled Santa gets a midlifecrisis--the plot is based on Scott's frustration over having so manyresponsibilities and not enough time with his family. There are somedisappointments; of course, Bernard isn't in it and we all love him;just one line with no explanation tells us he must be gone. Also, Santadoesn't seem himself; yes, he's frustrated, but you don't see theexcitement he had before. And,the plot gets resolved so close to theending that you still haven't processed it, and the credits arerolling! But if you liked the other movies, go see this one; it's notas action packed, it's a little sappy, but it's clean fun and you'lllaugh if you let yourself! Just remember that it's not Shakespeare, it's just a Christmas movie.Go and have some fun! Enjoy the Canada subplot, eh?
The captions for "Santa Clause 3" are very, very good! The movie is excellently done in complete fashion; I find it extremely annoying when captions skip over dialogue. About 2/3 to 3/4 of the extra stuff is captioned just as well, including my personal favorites--the blooper real and the backstage interviews, etc. I noticed that some entries in the "Music & More" category (music videos, etc) weren't captioned, but I didn't go through every one.Much better captions on this entry. Thanks, Disney!!!
This review is from: The Santa Clause 3 - The Escape Clause (DVD) The 3rd in the series is the best. Martin Short makes this movie great!
The first film Tim Allen did in this series, "The Santa Clause" was nota great movie by any stretch, but it was an entertaining film and oneof the more imaginative and clever Christmas movies ever made. Thatfilm dealt with what it would be for a regular guy to be Santa Claus. That was a new idea! It was witty enough for adults and cutesy and funenough for kids. Bam, the perfect mix for a "family" movie. The sequels(well OK I guess SC2 had some moments) have just been a mess. Thefilmmakers spend far too much time in the ridiculous North Pole, showus all the other mystical figures of legend (Mother Nature, FatherTime, the Easter Bunny) and completely forget that Scott Calvin issupposed to be a regular dude that just happens to be Santa Claus. Thismovie is too stupid for anyone over the age of 11 and at times toofilled with adult complexities for children to enjoy. The only partsthat evoked a feel of the 1st film were the Canada jokes and Scottgoing back in time to the events of the first film and returning toScott Calvin, corporate toy maker again. Otherwise this is a waste.Forget this film and go watch the 1st one.
Very nicely done! My family and I have enjoyed the first two SantaClaus movies. Tim Allen is at his best, and they really could not havepicked a better actor than Martin Short to be his "foil". Martin Shortis so brilliant and versatile! I am amazed that we don't see a lot moreof Martin on the silver screen. Beautiful sets, funny story line andlots of laughs. Nice pace of the script and good use of all the "old"cast, with the exception of Bernard, who is nowhere to be seen in thefilm. This film is a great choice if your looking for fell good familyfun. The makeup and costuming is incredible and fun to see! I wasalittle nervous going into see the film (as by the time the thirdsequel comes around thiongs can get tired...in any film franchise) butthe Sanat Claus retains its charm very well.
