We have taken some photos of "The Santa Clause 2". They represent actual movie quality.
I absolutely love "The Santa Clause" part one. It really gets me intotheChristmas spirit, and it's hilarious. But this second part isn't quitethesame. Each actor's performance is not as good as the first movie. Theoneexception is Eric Lloyd as Charlie. But the plot is too confused, andthings are just too rushed. It's missing the charm and humor of thefirst. It's not horrible, but it just doesn't give the same Christmas feeling"TheSanta Clause" originally had.
Santa Clause 2 is a worthy sequel to the original one. Tim Allen hasfoundhis nitch with Santa Clause and the wonderful addition of ElizabethMitchellmakes this movie an entertaining, heart warming Christmas movie. WhyHollywood is not using Ms. Mitchell more is a mystery. Tim Allen andElizabeth Mitchell have a natural chemistry and it isn't a forced romanceonscreen. Tim Allen is naturally funny but he seems more comfortable intheSanta Suit this time. There were moments where my children did becomerestless but all in all I would have to give this movie two thumbs up andIwould give it 4 out of 5 stars.
I haven't seen the original since it first came out in the theaters, but Ido remember liking it. Unfortunately, the sequel was pretty bad. Thesubplotwith the toy Santa was just horrible. The script and most of the actingwasweak, and though I will admit to laughing at a few of the jokes, much ofitwasn't remotely funny. The Tooth Fairy provided a couple of snickers as did Michael Dorn as TheSandman. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't worth the price of a ticket,either.4 out of 10 stars.
wow, to tell you the truth I was expecting a little more from this movie, but that's ok cuz it still totally rocks! It has a little "spoof" on Saddam Hussein which could be pretty distressing for the younger kids since he's about to ruin christmas but as usual Santa saves the day. The ending isn't what I thought it would be, but I was plesently, VERY plesently suprised that Eric Lloyd was playing Charlie again. It has the comedy and it's really sweet with Charlie having trouble with girls and all. I think if i had to pick the best actor in this movie, I would say Eric Lloyd because he does the whole "troubled teen" act really well and he's just so dang believeable when he cries. All in all I loved this movie, The first one was my favorite, and now this one is inching it's way to the top of the list
I need to give a few spoilers.I was hopeful to find something original, funny, and inventive when I wentto see The Santa Clause 2. Instead I found a rather childish, corny moviethat made me embarrassed to watch it.Don't get me wrong, though. Some parts are absolutely hilarious. The toySanta's first sip of hot cocoa is rather humorous. But other parts thattried to be funny were rather stupid. Such as the "talking" reindeer. Iliked it much better in the first one when Comet only grunted, rather thanspewed out garbled nonsense. Some of it was funny, but it was taken toofar. The North Pole was a very distracting, annoying place to be. It seemed sofar from reality that I was always praying it would get to another scene. Once Scott Calvin started turning back to "normal", I was much relieved. The movie felt so much better, much more real, emotional, and humorous. Unfortunately, not enough of the movie was seen in the real world with thereal Scott Calvin. It was really corny and childish in the beginning. But in the middle, whenScott begins to fall for Principal Newman, I could really feel what wasgoing on. I was connected to the characters, and truly hoped the best forthem. It didn't last long, however. Too soon was Scott rushing off to theNorth Pole, where I still felt very uncomfortable. And possibly the worst villains of all movie history would be the huge toysoldiers. I'm sorry, but that was absolutely stupid! They were nothreat... they could only walk and stretch out their arms! The "finalbattle" involving them shouldn't have lasted any more than aminute. The "duel" between the real Santa and the toy Santa, however, was well made. I enjoyed the skirmish atop the sled as they raced to the top of theunderground cave. The music was absolutely... cheerful. Way too cheerful, even in sad parts. It was more of a distraction than anything. I can't even recall whocomposed it, and I've been spending all afternoon working on dumping it outof my brain. The Santa Clause 2 is, in essence, for younger children, which is a shamesince the first was really good. I was really disappointed. I wouldn'treally recommend seeing it in theaters, but DVD will dofine.
First, before any of you start throwing stones, let me just say that I thought The Santa Clause was a wonderful movie and it remains to this day one of our family holiday, (and throughout the year, actually) favorites. It was fresh and original and FUNNY! This sequel, was far inferior to it's predecessor in many ways. I agree with one of the other reviewers that Tim Allen seemed rather uncomfortable or stiff in his portrayal of Santa Claus this time around. The storyline wasn't believable in the slightest. Charlie has turned from sweet inventor of the CD (cocoa/cookie dispenser) to a sullen, graffitti spraying punk. All of a sudden, many years after Santa has been on the job at the North Pole, NOW he has to marry within a matter of a few weeks so that he can continue "being" Santa. Why now? What happened? The lady who is to become Mrs. Claus, Principal Newman, isn't believable in any realm when she suddenly changes her tone from stern disciplinarian to syrupy over-sweetened Mrs. Claus. Comet was EXTREMELY irritating and even frightening to my 1 and 1/2 year old baby. He cried! The only bright spot in this film was the young fellow who portrayed the little elf Marcus. He is not only adorable, but quite professional and believable. The few times I chuckled was when he was stealing each scene he was a part of. Now I realize this "review" may sound a bit harsh, but if you value your time, as I do, and would rather not waste any of it then I wouldn't purchase this dvd. I would suggest as an alternative enhancing your holiday dvd library by purchasing "poetry on film" such as It's a Wonderful Life, The Homecoming, A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim, or The House Without a Christmas Tree, to name a few. Share the classics with your kids and not this meaningless fluff which has no redeeming value whatsoever.
The Santa Clause 2 has star power, elaboratesets and Disney Movie Magic - But there wasa lot lost on this film. The storyline was weak and it seemed as ifthe characters themselves were trying toohard to push this movie to succeed at theBox Office. The Santa Clause (Original)offered a magical look into the myth andwonder of Christmas through a child's eyeview. We witnessed Scott Calvin slowlygrow and accept his role. There was very little of this type of heartfelt warm in the sequel. I will state thatthe entire 'courtship' storyline as well asthe school Holiday Party scenes invoked smallbits of the original charm, however the restwas more like a holiday movie on WAY toomuch sugar, spice and everything nice.I own this movie on the principle that Iwant the entire set and due to the factthat both the Santa Clause I and II weregifts. Enjoy it around the holidays, butknow that the first one (at least for now)will always be better then part two.
Same actors returned at least but it looked too different from the first one. They should have never made a second one. I'm really curious of what Santa Clause 3 is going to be like but I bet it's going to be disappointing like the second one. I really enjoyed the first one a lot and it was funnier but this one just seemed too disappointing. The first one is way better do not watch this one it sucks.
I enjoyed Santa Clause 2, I really did but there were some parts that messed up to be the same or has better than the first one.No boring parts, but cheesy part.28 Days before Christmas he finds out that if he dont get married before Christmas he wont be Santa Clause ever again. The part that I thought was stupid that magical thing that Benard gave him but he did do some cool stuff with it.But a sequel that should of been better. *****/***** 88/100
This review is from: The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause [VHS] (VHS Tape) Tim Allen at his best, makes a good Santa Claus, filled with a lot of laughter. Definitely a holiday classic.
It seems that this movie didn't have the same feel the original captured. The time between the release of the sequel maybe the biggest factor. Themovie really reminded me of the original christmas episode of futurama.Theyleft out some very important things the original had. The whole jamesbondish thing with upgrades to the sleigh and suit was a very originalideathat was left out of this movie and kind of left me disappointed. I alsomayhave been angered by the appearance of Spencer Breslin to me he seems tobethe most annoying kid actor of this time. The original movie was releasedin1994 eight years is a little long for a sequel. Many of the youngerviewersor people that haven't seen the original will appreciate what this moviehasbut personally it lacks the imagination of the first. I give it a 2 outof 5stars.
This movie is off the hook I can't stop watching its really funny and I enjoy it. And first I thought it was boring but it wasn't when I watched 2 times then I'll get what there talking about.
Any film that regards The Toothfairy as The Moleinator is in serioustrouble. But that's not the only problem with "The Santa Clause 2" -- theproblem is its lack of freshness and enjoyability. The first film was a realChristmas treat; funny, ocassionally rather surprisingly witty, and alwayswith a tender side and a refreshing Holiday spirit. The second vehicle -- though filmed eight years apart from the first --seems like a cash-in, and nothing more. Santa (Tim Allen), a.k.a. ScottCalvin (look at the initials), is as happy as can be. He's been Santa Clausfor the past eight years, and the children have been happier since he becameSanta. (Who takes these polls?) But as Christmas draws closer, Scottrealizes that not only is his son, Charlie, on the Naughty List, there's asecond clause in the contract that states he must become married to "TheMrs. Claus" in 27 days, or he'll be history. The head elf, Bernard, along with the help of another fellow elf (SpecerBreslin, "The Cat in the Hat"), duplicates a fake Santa to watch over thingsas the real Scott goes home to tend to family matters. But the new SantaClaus is an evil dictator who comes to work in Hitler's outfit and demandsthat all children be given coal. It's the funniest part of the movie, apartfrom when Evil Santa says to Good Santa, "You are a sad, strange littleman," which is of course a little Disney in-joke. (Tim is mimicking his ownBuzz Lightyear character from Disney/Pixar's "Toy Story.")"The Santa Clause 2" got a lot of good reviews that called it an enjoyableand charming little movie, but I missed something. The first film wassomething both kids and adults alike could equally enjoy. Allen was funnier, the film was funnier, and it was much more charming than this. And for afilm made eight years earlier, its special effects are superior. (At the endof "2," Scott hangs off the back of Evil Santa's flying sleigh and...itsimply has to be seen to be appalled by.)There's a major plot hole in the entire idea of Santa Claus existing in ourworld that need not be pointed out by me -- and I won't, in case there arechildren reading this. But whereas the first film had fun with the notion ofSanta Claus being real, "The Santa Clause 2" bashes it all over the head.Charlie cries at one point because his dad has "the best job in the world"but he is unable to tell all his friends. Boo-hoo. The thing is, "The SantaClause 2" takes the idea of Santa Claus too far. It's not fun anymore. Justwatch the first -- and far superior -- film instead.Another thing: The first film seemed very down to earth, very simple andfun. This movie is all over the place. A television show director made "TheSanta Clause 2," and it's very evident that this is so. The movie is toosporadically daffy and serious and not at all inspired. I still rememberseeing the first film and being delighted by its sheer heart. This moviedoesn't really have one.I like Tim Allen's dry ironic humor because I think he knows how to makegood use of it. He used it to perfection in "Home Improvement," used it evenbetter in "The Santa Clause," voiced the witty Buzz Lightyears, and thenappeared in a string of flops, including "Big Trouble" and "Who is CletisTout?" Here's to "Toy Story 3" -- if Pixar ever manages to break away fromDisney and its stupid no-more-sequels contract.2/5 stars.- John Ulmer
The Santa Clause films are a great and wonderful series of films thatare excellent to watch around the holidays! The Santa Clause 2 starsTim Allen, Wendy Crewson, Judge Reinhold, Eric Lloyd, Peter Boyle,Elizabeth Mitchell, Art LaFleur, Michael Dorn, and David Krumholtz. TimAllen is excellent in this film. He's hilarious and a very realisticcharacter. Peter Boyle is good in this film in a brief role. Crewsonand Reinhold are good in this film together. The comedy scenes are veryfunny and the Santa Clause special effects are very good. The music isgood as well. Really every thing is fine in this film! If you arelooking for a great Christmas film and if you like the cast mentionedabove that I strongly recommend The Santa Clause 2!
I was in absolute shock when I saw that the critics users thought it was a bad movie my family loves it. own it and watch it every year-christmas tradition
While the original movie had its flaws, it was for the most part an enjoyable movie. But how in the world can anyone give this sequel 5 stars? You really think it's among the best movies? It was a very, very pale imitation of the original. Other reviewers have pointed out its shortcomings, so I don't need to repeat them. I will just continue to reflect on the amazing fact that so many Amazon reviewers actually gave this FIVE STARS!
The Santa Clause movies have become a new favorite Christmas tradition in our house. Although this movie is not as good as The Santa Clause, it comes in as a very close second. Tim Allen does an amazing job of playing a dual role in this film as the real Santa as well as a toy Santa gone bad. This is a wonderful family friendly movie that you want to watch anytime of the year. I believe in Santa and he looks like Scott Calvin.
This DVD skips quite a bit. It's kind of hard to sit back for a movie when it skips so much. I thought maybe I got finger prints on it. So, I checked and there were none. I used a disc cleaner and it didn't help.
i think that this movie is brilliant. it can be watched by all ages from kids to adults. it is funny which makes you want to watch it again. i enjoyed this one better than the first one and so did my sister.i would reccommend anyone to buy this film. it would be brilliant for a christmas present. you never know the kids might start waiting up for santa and trying to push him of the roof. the film makes christmas come to life. if i had 1 sentence to describe santa clause 2 i would say a have to have film.
I thought the movie afects could have been better. But overal it lived up to the first one. I liked how they had the same people in the second one that they had in the first one. That gave a big bonus to the movie. I thought some of the littler parts could have been left out becasue it seemed to drag on a alot but overal it was really good. I really like the actors that played in this film. If they didn't have tim alen it wouldn't have been as good. It was also really good that wthye had Eric Lloyd in it because it really seemed that time had passed and now he is older and all of that so it helped to really be able to see how the actor has grown. well thats about it for my review i heop there is another santa clause 3 that would be fun....
