The Parent Trap

Hallie Parker and Annie James. They look exactly alike and are sisters. It would be awesome for you to be a twin, but what is it like being a twin without even knowing it? Thats what its like for these girls. Hallie is a cool, laid-back gal from California. Annie James is a proper rose from London. Annie has never met her father, and Hallie has never met her mother. When they get thrown into the Isolation Cabin, they uncover the mystery behind the ripped picture. They realize that they are twin sisters seperated at birth by their divorced parents, and they decide to switch places to meet the parent that theyve never met. They also decide to get them back together. But then something awful happens that will wreck everything their father is engaged to a beautiful, selfish witch whos only after their dads money.

Great fun

This is a film that -- once you get past the totally unbelievable concept, that divorcing parents would each take a twin and raise them with noknowledge of or contact with the other -- is a great deal of fun. My wife &I loved it when we saw it on a date, and my kids (both under age 7) thinkit's hilarious.Kudos to Lindsay Lohan and the special effects folks for making us forgetthat only one girl is playing both twin parts, a vast improvement over theoriginal with Hayley Mills. Also to Lisa Ann Walter and Simon Kunz forscene-stealing performances as Chessy & Martin, the two girls' nanny &butler.Keep your eyes & ears open for a few sly references to the original 1961"Parent Trap."

Brilliant!

Hallie is from California, and Annie is from England. When the two meetat summer camp they realise that they have nothing in common, exceptthey are identical twins! So they decide to switch places, and gettheir parents back together. They do all they can to get their parentsback together, surprise meetings, candle-lit dinners, camping trips, the rest is down to fate. But will it it work, or are Hallie and Anniejust to late? This is my favourite movie ever, Lindsay plays Hallie andAnnie brilliantly, and Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson are alsogreat at playing the parents! I give this movie ten out of ten, themusic is brilliant, as is the locations, and as I already said, theactors are great.

The most hilarious film we've ever seen!!!

We think that The Parent Trap is just THE best film we have seen in a long time. Lindsay Lohan is aboslutely brilliant as Hallie and Annie. We have fallen in love with this film! The butler was excellent, and our fave bit was when the twins pushed the lilo out onto the lake! Now we can't wait for it to come out on video!!!

As good as the original.

Why? Because while the remake throws back to the original, with some of thesame lines and scenes, (the cabin prank, the hiking trip) it manages todistance itself enough that it is its own movie. For instance, the pokerscene at the camp. Granted, some of the new stuff was hokey (the elaboratehandshake) or sickeningly cute (the butler and the nanny storyline, which iactually do find entertaining), it is still very well done. Lindsay Lohandoes as well as Haylie Mills in the original, and I actually like DennisQuaid and Natasha Richardson better as the parents. And I really like theadded touch of bringing back Joanna Barnes, who played Vicky the fiancee inthe original, as future-mother-in-law Vicky. It was definitely unexpected(for me, at least) and I enjoyed that.Overall, this is as good as the original.

Perfect for the movie....

"The parent trap" is essentially a children's film and the music from the soundtrack mostly represents that. The best songs on the album include the likes of Nat King Cole, Bob Geldof and The LA's. Many of the other tracks are upbeat cover versions of older songs but still have a good role to play from the film. The album is a good acquisition for anyone who liked the movie and has some memorable and touching songs.

I usually have to beg my dad to buy a movie, but when I asked him if I could buy "The Parent Trap," right away he answered "YES!"

Classic Disney Comedy

School holidays can be deadly for older cinema patrons but sometimes thereare films for children that are well worth a visit for adults. Unusually,The Parent Trap is a children's film that can even be recommended forchildren by the most morally bound parent - although there is a divorce thatmay need to be explained away. The Parent Trap is cute, sugary and funny -and unashamedly so.The Parent Trap was originally made in 1961 starring Haley Mills as a pairof twins who accidentally meet when they are eleven years old. Their parentsdivorced when they were babies. They then connive to get their parents backtogether. This is classic Disney material and the formula can and does work very wellindeed in this modern version.Heaven only knows how the special effects are done but I suggest that youjust forget about that and settle back and enjoy the film. You won't haveany choice anyway. I was convinced that the twins must have been played byreal life twins and I'm sure that I won't be the only one to fall for thatparticular Parent Trap.Young Lindsay Lohan plays the girls, (both of them!) complete with fabulousaccents, sunny bright and distinctive personalities, appealing red hair, freckles and a great sense of fun. One of the girls has become a Londonerand one a Californian and the girls also sport very commendable English andAmerican accents, as well as composites of the two accents when the girlsswitch places. It's also pleasing to see young girls being given the sorts of lightlyrebellious antics to frolic with as are usually reserved for young boys. Thestory begins in a New England summer camp where practical jokes are the go,although the film is careful to keep nastiness well out of the way. It wouldbe hard to accuse Lindsay Lohan's twins of any serious crime in anycase. The girls decide to switch places so they can each meet their Mum and Dad.In true Hollywood style both parents are rich and attractive and they ofcourse each have hired help (Lisa Anne Walter and Simon Kunz) who are ofcourse are going to fall in love. But then we must have the wicked stepmother and this is provided byMeredith, a gold digger who's out to score the very rich hand of Dad. She'splayed with appropriate relish by Sharon Stone look alike ElaineHendrix. The story really revolves around the parents, played by Natasha Richardsonand Dennis Quaid. We can settle back and wait for the inevitable to happen, because we just know that this is going to be one of those "happily everafter" efforts where Mummy and Daddy will again fall in love and properlybecome parents for these two very cute and loving girls. But along the waybe prepared for some very solid laughs and a wonderfully animated andmotivated lizard.

Good family film

This was cute. Lindsay Lohan wasn't the best actor in the world, I mustadmit, but for a child actor, she wasn't terrible. The part when they wereat camp was a bit boring, but after you got into the movie, it was prettygood. Good film to watch with your whole family.7/10 *******

Am I the ONLY person who liked the first one better?

Honestly, this movie gravels to the original

2012-05-18 13:00:02

The first one was better...

The second was cute, but the first one was way better. I think that if they filmed the second one exactly as the first one...with a few futuristic changes...it could have been much better. I think whatever movie you see first is the one you will always like better...Sabrina the second time around was much better than the first one..probably because I saw that one first!Watch both Parent Traps...compare for yourself!

Better Than Original

When I first saw the original Parent Trap, I thought it could have been done well, and 1998s The Parent Trap is living proof of that, one Lindsey Lohan is much better than the way overated Haley Mills, as well as they have some real actors as the parents.

This was a super-duper movie!

My opinion of this movie only says one thing: it was FANASTIC!!!!! I enjoyed how one character plays two girls. Also, I think the actors and actresses who were chosen did a super job. For anyone who hasn't seen this movie, here's what it's about: Two girls, (Hallie and Annie) are suprised to find out that they are actually twins! The girls meet at camp and decide to switch places. Hallie goes back to England as Annie and Annie goes back to California as Hallie. For the rest, you'll have to see this movie youself. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes humerous movies. Anyone who's never seen this movie, please rush to your local video rental store and rent "The Parent Trap"!

You can watch it over and over and never get tired of it!

This movie was awesome! The best thing was it stuck pretty close to the same intentions of the first video. The ending is much clearer and exciting. It's good, clean fun. I really enjoyed this one - I hope you do too!

Lohan's Best Performance!

Lindsay Lohan, known for being an easy press target, used to be cute! This movie is a good example of her red-headed, freckled goodness! Inthis late 90's remake of a Hayley Mills classic, Lohan plays bothhomely Napa Vallley girl Hallie Parker and Prim and proper Londonnative Annie James...who unexpectedly meet at summer camp and don'texactly take a fancy to each other. But, when both put in the isolationcabin due to their antics, they learn they are twins separated atbirth. So, predictably...they swap places, meet their parents...butthere is an ugly surprise: Hallie's dad is about to wed snootynewspaper reporter Meridith Blake...this could thwart their efforts tobring their parents back together...or will it? This was, overall, avery entertaining film. Lohan was adorable. The performances of NatashaRichardson and Dennis Quaid as the parents were also very memorable! Irecommend this if you like the cute redhead version of Lohan...

Happiness

I love Hallie Parker most. She is a lovely girl and very adamant. Maybethe life make the effect to her.Compare to her sister Annie James wholives with her momther got many custom. She got the best education andlive in a famous family. That is feeling of affinity make them meet eachother. They would like to change each other to live with their anotherparent and do something for their own family.although their aretwins, the dog which live in the California cannot recognize the girl. The whole film humorous and romantic.A person who could change eachother and try two kinds of life.Feeling of affinity make peopletogether, make love together.I am very admire them.I think they are verybrave. They could do everything what they want. They don't like theirfather' girlfriend,so they play many practical joke on Meredith.TillMeredith left their life. They also got the happiness. They would like to live with eachother, live with their parent and live with the whole family. They domuch more efforts on this dream, and the last they succeed. They are so cleverly, bravely and lovely. They make all the people lovethem, inclding me.

Better than the original!

This movie is incredibly cute! Lindsey Lohan does a fantastic job as twins Annie and Hallie. Actually every part is so perfectly cast, it's amazing. The extra special treat is at the end of the movie when it becomes a double love story!

has more heart than the original

this remake of the 1961 version is actually a pretty decent movie.ifound it engaging and high energy.the characters had some personalityand depth to them, especially the mother and father, played By DennisQuad and Natasha Richardson.as well, the story has some heart, and isvery touching.also, this is the film debut of Lindsay Lohan, who was 11at the time, and steals the show.she plays the twins, and is veryengaging, convincing and likable.this version is almost the same as theremake, but the story is a bit expanded, and the movie is a bit morefun.at least i though so.it's a family friendly film, and adults shouldbe entertained as well.my vote for the 1998 version of The ParentTrap:6/10

I enjoyed it so much!

I read a review of this movie before I went to it. The review said that themovie was too long. So all through the movie, I kept waiting to become bored. I never did. I thought this was one of the best movies I have ever seen. I didn't see theoriginal, but I want to see it now. This movie touched my heart so many times. I had tears in my eyes about 10 times. I laughed a lot too. It is one of thesweetest movies I have ever seen and I would recommend it to anyone who thinksthey would enjoy this kind of movie.
