The Best revival of these characters in decades.

When I started watching this show I didn't expect much, but what I gotwas one of the funnier shows I've seen recently. After seeing therather lackluster revivals in movies like Space Jam and Looney TunesBack in Action, I had gotten used to the idea that the Looney Tuneswould no longer be funny because they just cheaply rip off the oldcartoons, and try to overcome us with zaniness. Here the characters arereinvented as a sitcom, so there's no classical style music and wildchases. It features Bugs and Daffy as roommates in a house. Daffy isfunnier than ever in his over-dramatic tirades of jerkness. Bugs isalso funny as an overly reasonable and easygoing guy. Porky Pig plays alovable schlub. And they created a new and very funny character in LolaBunny, an obsessive and silly sort-of-girlfriend of Bugs. One story that comes to mind is when Daffy gets ridiculously upset whenhe thinks Porky ate his french fries, but Porky thought they were forthe table, and this small infraction leads Daffy to take drasticmeasures. Another funny thing I recall is that Daffy drives a paradefloat of himself as a vehicle so he can get attention, and becomes ahazard on the road. One part of the show I usually just skip is the CGshorts of Wiley Coyote/Roadrunner, which repeat the old falling off acliff gag over and again. I wanted to write this review because I was surprised at the outpouringof hatred by some reviewers. It seems like some people just want theold "duck season, wabbit season" jokes repeated fifty years after itwas funny. I think this is a worthy addition to the Looney Tuneslegacy.

Not as looney as hoped but still watchable.

This show has been getting a lot of mixed reviews lately. Some love itfor looking at the characters from a new perspective, others pan it forwrecking their childhood. I belong to the latter group as it happensbecause this quite a good show. The actions less wacky and moreSitcom-like because thats the direction Warner Bros. wanted to take Iguess (It may be that the shock of faliure of their last Movie LooneyTunes: Back in Action rattled the studi exectives to the point thatthey redesinged the characters in deperation). but don't steer clear ofthis show just because of that, it might not be laugh-out-loud funny orslapstick but it's still funny. I'd say it was hit and miss funny.I'd compare it's laid-back humor to Regular-Show. laid-back and wittyhumour to the kind that you see on another CN show Regular show. Wehave some great stories that are perfect for the modern day LooneyTunes and audience. Humor is sharp and slightly more mature thanprevious toons. And I've gotta say it's quite funny to see Daffy Ducktry to look cool with over-the-top lies and stories and ultimatelyfailing.Bugs and Daffy haven't changed much of course although Daffy is shownto be more brain-dead than scheming in this incarnation. Still thoughshow is good with half-solid humour, catchy songs from the MerrieMelodies section, and awesome Roadrunner and Wile.E.Cyote cartoons soI'm asking you stop being a maroon and give this show a go!

Excellent Come Back!!!! It's Funny and Moving

This new Looney Tunes Show was a perfect compilation of our favoriteclassic characters and how they would have grown to our time now, whilestill keeping their humorous personalities and wacky antics. It alsogave a positive response to our stuffy society's view of SpeedyGonzalez ( original cartoons considered racist and pulled off TV). TheShow portrays more in depth personalities of our little heroes thatmakes you love them even more. It's like getting to know them behindthe scenes but yet seeing them referring to their good old days. Likeus Adults remembering the classics and sharing this now with ourchildren. I think it's an excellent re-make and come back for kidstoday and us- from yesterday. If you haven't seen this, give it achance, your life will be happier :D

Cartoon network's prime time animated series staring the iconic Warner bros. cartoon characters, this time bugs and daffy are living life in the suburbs.

I'm a huge fan of the original looney tunes and Merrie Melody's! andI've seen about every TV show and movie based on them and that's a lot!So much so that even when I heard cartoon network was creating yetanother looney tunes show, I was like okay, let's see how this one is.but I'm glad to say I really like this one. The hard thing is to findsomething different to do with the characters and this show does. Onceagain it's the bugs and daffy dynamic, this time their in the suburbsand the show is more like a sitcom then a cartoon. Some critics trashthis show because it so different from any other looney tunes we'veseen, but different isn't bad. However it took me a few episodes toreally get a feel for this show, what makes this show so different fromany other looney tunes incarceration we've seen is there's none of thatfamous cartoon "logic" and wackiness that the originals are so famousfor. Nobody's pulling objects out of thin air, nobody's getting blown upby dynamite only to be fine the next scene and most notably nobody'sbreaking the fourth wall! that might be the biggest thing, as everyinterpretation I've seen from the originals on, there was always thisunderline joke that the looney tunes characters were self awarerealizing that there in a cartoon or treat themselves like real moviestars. This has no connection to anything prior, bugs and daffy are notself aware movie stars where daffy is jealous that bugs is a biggerstar then he. In here b&d(bugs and daffy)are regular "people" living inthe suburbs dealing with everyday life. Think Jerry Seinfeild andGeorge Constanza, with bugs as Jerry & daffy as George, which worksgreat! I like the idea of imaging how the looney tunes characters woulddeal with the real world. The pilot episode was a great way to startoff the series, showing bugs & daffy in a game show and daffy don'tknow anything about bugs despite living with him for several years.Like any sitcom the show gets better as you get know the characters, and even though we know the looney tunes characters it takes a fewepisodes to see how they fit into this world and the show and the showis better once you see how everyone fits in. I like the way theyportrayed the characters, especially daffy, who's my favorite looneytune character. John Bergaman does a great job with voicing daffy, hesounds just like Mel Blanc! I like how they made daffy it's really trueto his character, he's the cartoon George Contanza and I see both theClampett wacky daffy and Jones selfish daffy. He's the same daffy whopush bugs out of the way to have all the treasure for himself like inJone's cartoon "ali baba bunny" and the same daffy who cowardly triedto dodge the draft in Clampett's "drafte daffy". Bergaman does thevoice for bugs as well, however his bugs voice isn't as good as hisdaffy but I understand that bugs is hard to do but still impressivethat he can do both. I like how they did bugs of course he's thestraight man to daffy but they made him a little more flawed here thenbefore, here we see bugs messing somethings up instead of always comingout a winner, but I think that's because it would be boring if nothingbad happened to bugs through out the series but for the most part hestill comes off as smart and cool. Bugs is like Jerry Seinfeild, he hadhis flaws but Jerry was still the smartest one in the bunch. Thebiggest change came to Lola bunny, she was not in the original seriesbut was introduce in the film "Space Jam" there she's sassy, aggressiveand smart. Here's she's ditsy and unfocused(to say the least), but Ilike the change, I guess they changed her so she can play off straightman bugs, plus Kristin Wig, who I love from SNL, voices her and it'shilarious hearing her talk all loopy. I like their take on porky, hisvoice is great, sounds a lot like Blanc's, and I like the differentrelationships he has with b&d. With bugs, who tries to encourage him,and daffy, who takes advantage of him. I love how Speedy fits in theshow! his voice by SNL's Fred Armenson is great. Their take onYosemitte Sam is great and great voice as well! I wish we would get tosee more Elmer Fudd he only made cameo appearances, no major role andmore of Pepe Le pew, he appeared in only one episode, but like how hesaid he's been married 7 times, so true to his character. I like Tinaas daffy's girlfriend, I like the way she deals with daffy's outragesbehavior.I like Foghorn leghorn as a Donald Trump like guy, fits himperfectly! The dialog here is really great and that's where most of thehumor comes from instead of sight gags like in the originals. Theanimation is really nice to look out, I like the look of the show, although I do think they made bug's and Lola's feet to big. Theepisodes are well written & I like the strong sense of continuity tothis show. I like the songs that appears as aptly titled "Merriemelodies" sung by the various characters. And how can you not lovetheir take on the iconic wile coyote & road runner cartoons thatappear! The computer animation looks great and they 100% stay true tothe originals, Chuck Jones would be proud! Unlike many others this showairs on prime time and is more mature then other looney tunes show. Fornow let me say this is a great take on the Warner bros. gang!

Unexpectedly funny!

Wow, when I read the premise for this series on IMDb, it sounded likethe worst concept for a show ever - sullying the good name of BugsBunny et al! I was wrong! This cartoon is very, very funny - butwhereas the humour of the original was in the animation and slapstick,it has now shifted to the dialogue, which is really quite witty anddaft. It is so funny that it consistently has me laughing out loudthrough the episodes (specifically the banter between Bugs and Daffy),a feat only the likes of 30 Rock and Malcolm in the Middle can achieve- and for that, it deserves a high rating from me.Just some dodgy points: the CG Roadrunner skits in every episode aren'tthe greatest thing ever - they really should be more thinly-spread.Similarly for the Merry Melodies, but these are usually more enjoyable.I'd like to see story lines using the wider range of characters too.But seriously, don't assume this show is terrible - give it a watch!See if you were as pleasantly surprised as I was.

The Looney Tunes Show Will Please After All

The newest Odd Couple on the small screen is none other than our oldfriends, Bugs Bunny and his house mate Daffy Duck. Bugs, in his usualswarmy manner, deals with Daffy's self-absorption and nuttyeccentricities while coping living under one roof with the delusionalmallard. The result: witty dialog and excellent slapstick, and combinedwith the above-average animation, makes for one great show. However, the sly, conniving yet knuckle-headed Daffy we grew to know and loveover the years has been reduced to a clueless knuckle-headed frat boyroommate who actually seems quite fond of Bugs...somewhat of adisappointment but not enough not to enjoy the show. The cast of characters are drawn in the delightful old Chuck Jonesstyle making them visually appealing, that is except for Bugs who lookslike a parody of the original rabbit. His design has been simplified(for what reason?) and at certain angles, bears little resemblance toBugs at all. This Bugs Bunny could easily fit in with the cast of"Drawn Together". Still, the facial expressions Bugs uses arewonderfully "Friz Freleng" keeping the character's personality familiarto the audience.Aside from that, "The Looney Tunes Show" offers classic and modernanimated lunacy that will appeal to all ages. And if you're luckyenough to catch the cgi Road Runner/ Coyote clips, you'll be in for areal treat.

Like something out of a bad dream!

The original Looney Tunes had a whole set of recognizable elements thatmade them work. Physical comedy, action, a sweet soundtrack thatunderlined every move. The setting changed from one short sketch to theother, moving across the world and time periods. It could be argued that they already threaded this path, that a changewas needed to keep it fresh. Sure, why not.But please, anything but a sitcom setting! The jokes, mostly containedin the dialogue, fall flat and the situations are all from the bag ofrotting sitcom tropes. That is neither new or fresh by any standard. That is the most overused formula on TV, and it makes everythingpredictable and dull.

ultramatt2000-1 2012-04-25 02:35:16

Where to begin...

When I first saw the previews, I was excited to see it. When I saw it Iwas having mixed feelings about it. First of all, the reason why theymade it a sitcom was for two reasons: 1. They were politically correct.Because the classic ones were too violent. I have read the LOONEY TUNEScomics over the past few years, and they never changed a bit. Theystill maintain that classic character design and storytelling since thegood old days. (Give it a read then compare it to the new show and youwill understand why.) 2. They want to bring it back to their originaltarget audience when they were just new (i.e. adults).Second, look at the cast. This would be better off as sitcom with theseactors instead of cartoon characters. Just read on and you willunderstand. Jimmy Fallon instead of Bugs Bunny. Jerry Trainor insteadof Daffy Duck. (Remember him in I-CARLY?) Drew Carey instead of PorkyPig. Larry the Cable Guy instead of Foghorn Leghorn. Joe Peci insteadof Yosemite Sam. Mark Metcalf instead of the Tasmanian Devil. (Rememberhim in ANIMAL HOUSE or those two music videos by Twisted Sister) ReeseWitherspoon instead of Lola Bunny. Queen Latifah instead of WitchHazel. Mike Myers instead of Pepe LePew. George Lopez instead of SpeedyGonzales. Before I continue, I got inspired to write this list when I waswatching an episode of THE NOSTALGIA CRITIC, where he was reviewing THELANGOLIERS. Doug Walker talked about Bronson Pinchot's performance andsaid, "If he keeps this up, he will transform into a cartooncharacter." In that episode of his review, he turns into a cartoonversion of himself and laughs like Woody Woodpecker. Google it up. I amkind of bothered about the fact that the Coyote and Roadrunner skitsare CGI, but it has Chuck Jone's humor involved in it. As for the MerryMelodies, the are the musical numbers and they are good. The song,"Daffy Duck the Wizard" is awesome! It's not negative (read my DAM VS.review). The story is not messed up like ADVENTURE TIME or THE REGULARSHOW (read my reviews). It is also not painful to watch (read myPROBLEM SOLVERZ and THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL reviews). It is funfor the entire family. Give it a watch. Rated TV-PG for mild language and thematic elements.

Not "Looney" enough for television

I grew up with the Looney Tunes all my life. The original shorts werequick, packed with a laugh a second, and brilliantly written. But whenI saw the first episode, I felt something was wrong. The jokes weredead pan unfunny, the designs were too fluffy, and the overallexecution was just boring. Each time a frame passed by, I feltsomething churning in my stomach, as if the laughter in me was dyingslowly. This take of "sitcom-ing" Bugs and pals just doesn't fit their quota. Ifelt they were taking the "Family Guy" route too far and just seemedunoriginal. We've seen this before with The Drew Carey Show (the ideaof having odd ball friends and trying to live a normal life in aninsane world), Norm, and Ren & Stimpy. Just not with the Looney Tunes. All I ask is for Cartoon Network to listen up and reconsider what theyhave done or at least improve things in Season 2. That is there willnot be one; pray to that. I say, skip it and purchase the GoldCollection sets. In due time, nothing will live up to the wit and charmof a duck and rabbit arguing over what hunting season it is.

Rectangular_businessman 2012-04-24 06:01:36

Well…at least it's better than "Loonatics Unleashed"

This series is another (failed) attempt to "update" the classic LooneyTunes characters (Just like that awful cartoon, "Loonatics" that triedto make them some sort of "Power Rangers"/"Teen Titans" clone) but thistime, instead of making the characters into "cool" superheroes, thosebeloved characters are now put on situations and story lines that couldbe expected from a really bad sitcom.I understand that it is way too hard to achieve the same level ofgreatness from the classic Looney Tunes, but that's not an excuse tomake a bad cartoon as this one: The animation is bad and ugly (It isobvious that the designs try to combine the classic characteristic fromthe original Looney Tunes with a modern style of animation, but theresult doesn't work, it just seems ugly and poorly made, with hideousdesigns and a horrible use of colors) the plots are generic andclichéd, and the worst of all is that this show is just not funny atall. The jokes, rather than being amusing, feel tired and annoying. Even thepersonalities from the main characters doesn't seem right, being eithera bad version of their classical portrayals in many previous cartoonshows and movies (The most notorious chase would be Daffy, which inthis show is merely an annoying and unlikeable character) or somethingcompletely different and random (Why now Gossamer is a shy kid? Why nowTaz acts like he were a dog? And now Yosemite Sam is friendly towardsBugs Bunny and Daffy?) The only character that was somewhat improved from her originalcharacterization is Lola Bunny (Mostly because in all her previousportrayals, she didn't have any kind of personality at all) in "TheLooney Tunes Show"; she became some sort of crazy stalker thatconstantly annoys Bugs Bunny. While this character is still veryannoying and not likable, at least this change was some sort ofimprovement. The songs from this show are horrible, and the inclusion of thosemusical numbers seems just like a forced attempt to imitate "Phineasand Ferb". I guess that some of those songs aren't that bad, but mostof them are terrible and feel shoehorned. The best(The only good) partof the show is the brief CGI segment involving Wile E. Coyote and theRoad Runner, Which at least remains faithful to the spirit of theoriginal Looney Tunes shorts, unlike the rest of this series. "The Looney Tunes" is a bad series. It is probably not the worst thingever made (No matter how bad this show is, I always will consider"Loonatics" to be worse) but it is awful anyway.

The Looney Tunes Show is PURE GARBAGE

I mean, come on! The original Warner Bros. cartoon Directors,Animators, Writers and Music Directors (first Carl Stalling and laterMilt Franklyn) who are no longer with us, along with the late, greatMel Blanc are each doing about 1000 RPM in their graves. For the mostpart, the art work STINKS (Bugs Bunny painted PURPLE??), the voices are98% dreadful (Witch Hazel suddenly became BLACK? The guy doing Bugscan't act. Daffy is only sort of okay. The two percent that sound rightare as follows: Elmer Fudd is excellent, and of course Granny is stillGranny, because she is still June Foray, thank God. And they called inBob Bergen from Duck Dodgers to beautifully play Porky.) This showcould easily evaporate from the face of the earth and fans of theGENUINE Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies would NEVER miss it. EVER!!!

Modnar4 2012-04-16 23:39:11

Awesome remake of a show that was already amazing!

I just want to start off by saying this isn't anything like the classicshows. People don't seem to like that, but I don't mind. The voicesacting sounds different, but that makes sense because a bunch of thepeople that did the voice acting in the original episodes are dead, sothey needed to find people that sounded similar. For some reason peoplefind this to be a big deal, and I don't understand why, whatever. Ihave seen most of the episodes in the first season and they are allgreat! I also like how they show new versions of wile e coyote. Theyare just as neat as the old ones are. You will not be disappointed inthis show as long as you have a sense of humor, but if you are stubbornand don't like remakes then you won't like this. This is definitely thebest show on cartoon network!

TheLittleSongbird 2012-04-16 17:43:43

I wanted to like it...

But it just didn't do much for me. Like everybody here, I am a big fanof Looney Tunes, the original cartoons were part of my childhood and Istill love them now, and I liked the compilation films too despitecomplaints of shortening the original cartoons they feature. The Looney Tunes Show isn't a complete waste though. I did like most ofthe voice acting, especially Maurice LaMarche as Yosemite Sam andKristen Wiig as Lola, and Jeff Bergman does better than expected asBugs and Foghorn, not so much Daffy. The background art and colours arecolourful and smooth, and the theme tune is nice and memorable. However, there are a number of assets that I don't like, starting withthat I miss the droll wit in the dialogue. Some of it is funny, likewith Lola, but some of it is lame and hindered further by some awkwardpauses, almost as if they're expecting somebody or even an audience tolaugh, hence the somewhat sit-com-like feel to it. I also felt therewas too much dialogue, not enough of the physical comedy. The stories are on the whole uninteresting and predictable, while interms of characters Lola and Yosemite are fine, Bugs is likable enoughwith Freleng-like facial expressions and mannerisms but not witty orarrogant enough, but Daffy is often a complete moron(and in anunlikeable sense) and Porky has little to do and is very bland.Character designs are a mixed bag. Some have a nice Chuck Jones-likestyle to them, like Elmer, but others are too fluffy for my tastesespecially Bugs. So all in all, not awful but a lot of me wanted tolike it much more than I did. 4/10 Bethany Cox

"What's up, Doc? A fun, faithful reboot!"

Having a typical sitcom aura, "The Looney Tunes Show" works because hasthe best comedy duo, due to their agelessness, as the stars: sly,Groucho Marx-like Bugs Bunny and shameless narcissistic Daffy Duck(both voiced by Jeff Bergman). It would be easy for the two, jobless roomies (they probably getrevenue money from the shorts they did eons ago) in a namelessCalifornian suburb, to be raunchy, but the show's co-developers SpikeBrandt and Tony Cervone ("Duck Dodgers") are respectful to thecharacters' history. Other characters from the Warner Bros. Animationcomedy troupe, old (Yosemite Sam's an unwanted house guest in oneepisode) and new (Lola Bunny, from "Space Jam", is Bugs' wacky stalkerin another), are used well when interacting with the More-Than-OddCouple. Some repair work, though, needs to be done on the MTV-like"Merrie Melodies" shorts, lodged between each episode's second andthird acts.If you're a longtime fan of Bugs, Daffy and their WB chums, this show'sfor you.

anthony-rigoni 2012-04-12 21:51:41

Okay.... Am I missing something here?

The first time I heard that the Looney Tunes Show is premiering in May,I was very eager to watch, since I used to watched Looney Tunes when Iwas a kid. Now, after a few episodes, I stopped watching it and pausedfor a moment. Well, the character design is okay, but I really wonderhow the characters are portrayed. The character that gets on my nervesis Daffy Duck. Seriously, when I was a kid, Daffy wasn't that dumb(Sortof). In the Looney Tune Show, he is portrayed as a total idiot. AndLola, what have they done to her? When she debuted in 1995's SpaceJam(With Michael Jordan as himself), she's somewhat like a strongfemale in the movie. HOWEVER, in the Looney Tunes Show, she's portrayedas a stereotypical dumb Blondie(A few Blondies(females with blond hair)I've seen weren't that dumb(Well, Kelly Bundy from "Married... withChildren" is no stranger to stereotypical dumb Blondies.))The onlycharacter I feel sorry for is Bugs Bunny. I mean, how in the world didhe put up with that dumb cluck of a duck? If you want to see this TVseries, go ahead, be my guest. However, if you're a fan of a certainLooney Tunes character, you might be angered by how he/she is portrayedin the series.

t_sonchi 2012-04-07 17:13:30

Its inappropriate

If you heard the phrase "I blew my stack!" while a short angry man wasbeing danced around by attractive women, what are you going to think. What made it worse was at the end of the angry man saying I blew mystick the had this ^____^ face of refreshment. The thing is this show has a lot of adult themes in it that I don'tfind appropriate thing for kids younger than 15 to watch all the time.I don't like the fact that this show is like a sitcom/ a Bad reality TVshow. We got enough crap TV shows like that on other channels it has noplace on cartoon network. not to mention the animation is too chibi orchildish looking for the content being shown.

Tresix 2012-04-07 12:19:52

Funny enough.

I had expected to hate this show, but I actually like it quite a bit.It borrows the legendary characters of the Looney Tunes cartoons fromthe past but sets them in a sort of sitcom setting. Bugs Bunny is sortof like Jerry Seinfeld while his roommate Daffy Duck is GeorgeCostanza. The other characters are spread around the neighborhood andgive a little seasoning throughout the series. A lot of people havecomplained because it's not done in the tradition of the originalcartoons. However, since the show is done like a sitcom, that formatwouldn't quite work with this show. Also funny about this show, are music videos done by some of thecharacters that highlight their personalities such as Marvin Martian's"I'm a Martian". Another segment is computer-animated bits done withthe Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote that truly captures the spirit of theoriginal Roadrunner cartoons, only shorter. Apparently, this doesn'tseem to be enough for some people, but I say give the show a chance. It's nowhere near as awful as some detractors will have you believe.

enzooo1314 2012-03-30 11:26:11

This Show is Horrible. I Hate It!!!!

I hate this show, its nothing like the original. I was a big fan of theoriginal Looney Tunes Show but this one can not compare. lets startwith the characters. Bugs Bunny is now purple (Whats up with that),Elmer Fudd now loves grilled cheese and work in an office, and now theTasmanian Devil is Bugs Bunny's new pet and has now been tamed. So as afan of the original and seeing how much they destroyed the show anddestroyed the characters, I am going to say That I will never watchthis show ever again unless they change or make it like the original. Irecommend that you don't watch this show either. If you are a fan ofthe original show and has seen this new version then you probably feelthe the same way. I believe that this show should be canceled so thehorror will finally end for the fan.

yronmartyr 2012-03-21 22:25:09

A very good reboot

At first I wasn't so happy with the sitcom setting but after 3 episodesI got used to.The animation is very good and the character designs aremore comic than usual but it works for this show. The dialog is very funny and the show entertains with every line thecharacters spoke. The Songs are also very good and entertaining and It'sa nice way to introduce some characters. There are some characters that haven't appeared in year on televisionlike Speedy Gonzale who are in this show. The Voice acting is alsopretty good and everyone receives a good portrayal. There is also a lot of slapstick humor so the show makes sure itfollows the originals. There is some adult humor in this show and thatis what makes it entertaining for everyone.Be sure to check it out.
