Simba and Nala have a daughter, Kiara. Timon and Pumbaa are assigned to be her babysitters, but she easily escapes their care and ventures into the forbidden lands. There she meets a lion cub named Kovu and they become friends. What she and her parents do not know is that Kovu is the son of Zira - a banished follower of the now-dead Scar. She plans to raise Kovu to overthrow Simba and become the king of the Pride Lands. This tests not only Kiara and Kovus relationship as they mature, but Simbas relationship with his daughter.

Although a rich story, this second "Made for Video" sequel just doesn't punch as much of an impact as the original did. Great songs and storyline help this not so epic film get off the ground. It is however a great kids film! Your children will spends many hours watching this one over and over again.- Eric Boerner
I love this film. It and the first are really good movies. The actors + animation are great in this, plus it picks up just about where the first film left off. This is one ofe the much better Disney sequels. Recomended highly.
Personally, I feel that the two Lion King movies are probably the best Disney movies out. It's definitely worth watching if you like movies that have a combination of: tragidy, romance, adventure, and maturing. The songs are pretty cool. This movie definitely is a good sequil, I think that Disney should make a third Lion King movie. In this movie Simba and Nalla have their kid "Kiara" (a girl). And the boy Kovu who is chosen by Scar to follow in his paw prints, as it's clearly stated in the movie. Kovu is raised by Zira, Scars mate. And like in the first Lion King Kovu grows up with a girl as a child hood friend named Vitanni and a klutz of a brother name Nuka. But the difference between the first and the second Lion King movie is Kovu doesent hook up with his child hood friend. Vitanni plays a main part in the end which helps change the minds of the outsiders and the pridelanders, suprisingly. And that's all I'm going to tell you about the movie, except for it's really worth seeing!!!
This movie was quite a bit better than I expected it to be. Thoughdefinitely not as good as the first one, compared to most Disneysequels (the worst being Atlantis:Milo's Return) it was fairlyenjoyable. Simba, because of his own childhood experiences, is really, really overprotective of his daughter Kiara, and has Timon and Pumba onher tail 24/7. One day, after slipping away from them, she meetsanother cub, Kovu. The two hit it off instantly but their friendship iscut short when both their families arrive on the scene. It turns outthat Kovu is part of Scar's pride(where were they in the first movie?)which Simba banished after Scar's death. The incident inspires Scar'smate Zira to hatch a plan to take over the Pridelands. When Kovu growsup she arranges for him to save Kiara's life and thus gain admittanceinto Simba's pride. Kovu and Kiara fall in love but when Zira ambushesSimba he becomes convinced that Kovu is destined to follow in Scar'spaw prints( Kovu is Scar's heir but not actually his son) and re-exileshim. Kovu, who has detached himself from Zira's pride, sets of byhimself and is soon joined by Kiara, who's run away from home to bewith him. At the climax, the two young lions stop their prides fromgoing into battle and the two groups resolve their differences andmerge, except for Zira who refusing to accept Kiara's help, falls intoa ravine and dies. The characters are interesting and the music, thoughnot as good as LK1 is pretty good for the most part. All in all, it'sdefinitely worth a watch.
This review is from: The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (Two-Disc Special Edition) (DVD) I really enjoyed watching this movie with my son and the best part of all that it was in good condition exactly like the description
I felt this was as well done if not better than the first. The music again was fabulous. The characters were cute and the story line was a great continuation of the first. Disney really brings the circle of life thing together in this second film. I loved the way they made Kiara a little replica of her dad Simba. I dont feel the absence of the hyena's was any great loss, they were ok for the first one but weren't missed in the second one. My family and I have watched it over and over and just love it!!!
Let's see... I'm thumbing through my plot summaries here... "The King'slittle girl disobeys him (much to the dismay of her bodyguards) and thefather and daughter learn to respect each other." Yep, that's what Irented.Entertaining, though. My kids liked the film, and I laughed at theappropriate places. The art quality was exactly what I expected to see on a direct-to-videorelease. Who was in charge of the shadow effects? They looked cheesy evenon my teeny TV set. The fire effects were impressive; had the entire filmbeen done by the fire team, I would have been greatly impressed with theart. But placed next to the coloring-book quality of the other scenery, these graphics looked overdone. This looked more like a practice run or a training exercise for the graphicsartists than a mega-selling video. Not a bad movie, but don't go out andbuy a DVD player to show this movie off to your friends.
The lion king 2 is probably my favorite Disney sequel. Its one of themovies where the first time around its okay, and then if you see itagain, you're like..wow, this is great! Same goes for the songs. Iactually love this movie. Compared to the first movie, it isn't allthat bad. They didn't ruin anything from the first movie, like thecharacters personalities, as they do in so many other sequels (likelittle mermaid 2. puke.) I'd say more of the problem is they kind ofdown play a lot of characters that had bigger roles. Zazu and Nala arebarely in this. Timoon and Puumba are still cute and funny. Kiara, their daughter, is a little flat, But the evil villains are very, verygood. Zira is excellent, and Kovu is very complex and interesting. Theending is a little flat as well, but its still a touching movie. Its onpar with Aladdin and the king of thieves, which is the only otherexcellent Disney sequel. (for the record, toy story 2 is Disney andpixar-but is not Disney made. pixar makes it, Disney distributes.thanks.) This sequel actually has depth and every (major) character inthis movie has their own personal struggle. Its not simple and happy golucky like most Disney sequels. I would highly recommend it.
The Lion King II-Simba's Pride is a better than excellent movie! I really loved it. I watched it at a friend's house a few months ago and we all loved it. Simba is grown up and has mated with his childhood sweetheart Nala. He has a daughter, Kiara, who wanders onto the territory belonging to Scar's mate, Zira. She starts playing with Zira's son, Kovu, but soon Zira finds out and she snarls and all. Simba comes to the rescue and forbids Kiara to go there again. Kovu is sent to Simba's territory to live there and kill him. But, like any Disney movie, Kovu and Kiara fall in love! It's about the relationships between Kiara and Kovu and Simba and Kovu. In the end there is a fight, but I'm not going to tell you who dies or lives! Watch this movie that brings The Lion King back to life!
A story about 'Forbidden Love' Otherwise pretty good, after seeing it 7 times.
What is it with straight-to-video Disney sequels? First the tragically ill'Return of Jafar', then this, followed by 'The Little Mermaid II' and 'Ladyand the Tramp 2'!Here we have the daughter cub of Simba, Kiara, (voiced by Neve Campbell of'Party of Five' fame) who must also find her place in the circle of life, and amidst all of this, Scar's daughter befriends her, and before long, the2 lion tribes are battling it out.Lacey Chabert (Neve's 'PO5' co-star) has a small role in this, and old favesTimon and Pumba return for this second Lion King flick. Andy Dick is alsogood here as the villain. It has nothing on the 1994 original, but kids will likeit.
Erm...well the basic point here is that this movie SUX! But more to the point is that I was sleepin over at my frendz house and we were watchin this to make fun of it and we got to the part right before they sing the song about Kovu gettin exiled and Simba sez "When you came here, you asked for judgement, WELL I PASS IT NOW!" Then the animals in the background start mumbling and I heard one go "YES YOU'RE GAY!" and I rewinded it over and over and I swear to god, you can hear them say that! I didn't get it off a website or anything like that, I FOUND IT MYSELF! Yeah...I have no life...
Although the music is pretty good (I believe it still doesn't compare with the first score), this film falls short of being a worthy continuation of The Lion King (I won't mention Lion King 1/2 because it is in no way serious enough for me to consider it as good). The songs are strange, the characters are melancholy and mainly flat (including Andy Dick, who is a very disturbing, unloved lion in the opposing pride), and the plot line is confusing. It is supposed to be taking place after Simba's cub has grown up, into Kiara, a rebellious young lioness. She ends up meeting Kovu, a lion raised to hate Simba's pride by the opposing pride who lives on the outlands. The story behind them is that they were the lionesses supporting Scar (although I never saw one lioness fighting AGAINST Simba in first the movie) and were banished for it. Kovu is, apparently, not Scar's child, but he looks exactly like him. He and Kiara end up finding common ground, much to the anger of both of their parents. "We Are One" which is sung by Simba, along with the opening "He lives in you" are the only good songs. The animation is sub-par. I was very disappointed with this sequel and feel it can't even barely compete with The Lion King.
The underlying theme was too dark. The jokes were not as good. It lacked the mystic draw of the original (which I didn't like either). Get Hercules or one of the Veggie Tales instead. They are much funnier.
LIon KIng Simba's Pride is a really awesome movie. Funny, and will keep you laughing. I recommend this wonderful movie to Disney fans of all ages!
I thought that this video was fantastic. And I love the end because it is very happy. I love movies with animal characters in them. Every movie of Lion King is the best!
The Lion King was one of the best movies I've ever seen. I was just asix-year-old when Simba's Pride came out, so I was initially overjoyed. After watching it, I was happy with it, since anything featuring Timon andPumbaa was perfect in my book. Now, I review it with an unbiased eye. The Lion King II: Simba's Pride isn't really about Simba at all: it's abouthis daughter Kiara. Kiara is just as adventurous as the young Simba, butSimba is even more overprotective than Mufasa. Kiara disobeys Simba'sparanoid rules and ventures into the Outlands, where exiled lions whosupported Scar now dwell, including his wife, Zeera. There she meets a youngcub called Kovu, and the two hit it off and escape from crocodiles into thesafety of the Pridelands, where Simba and Zeera find them. Back home, Zeeraberates Kovu for trying to befriend Kiara, but discovers that it is a greatplan: she trains Kovu to kill Scar and become king, doing so by winningKiara's affections, and so getting an opportunity to isolate Simba and killhim. As an adolescent, Kovu faithfully carries out the plan, having gotteninto Kiara's good books, but unexpectedly and accidentally having gotten herinto his.The story is, I have to admit, really good. Zeera's devious plot is just asgood (if not better) than Scar's in The Lion King. However, the movie is toosentimental, and Kovu falls in love with Kiara IN A DAY. It was much toofast--and much too smooth--to make it totally believable. In the firstmovie, Simba and Nala have some serious spats. Kiara and Kovu just go offwithout a hitch. The climax is really good. Most of the plot elements workin its favor. The story is unusual, with lots of sad things happening, moreso than the more typical Disney The Lion King. One thing that works heavilyagainst the movie is the all-too-brief appearances of the duo of Timon andPumbaa and Zazu. The movie doesn't lack comedy, it just needs to get more ofit from Timon & Pumbaa. You must understand that this was never going to fetch as big a profit asThe Lion King, as Simba's Pride was only released on video. Therefore, theanimation isn't as lavish and immaculate as in the theatrically releasedpredecessor. The detail in the manes, the attention given each blade ofgrass, is absent. Nevertheless, the animation is very good. It's smooth, butagain, just a peg below The Lion King. The artistry on the whole isexcellent. The Lion King: Simba's Pride is one of the more inspired Disney sequels. But, yet again, it pales (just a bit) in comparison to its successor. Thesesequels are financially efficient, but Disney would not approve. As Waltsaid, money is not an object. In the years to come, in the end, quality willmake or break a movie, not how much money it cost. Art cannot be cheap if itis to be as good as it can be.7.25/10
lion king 2 is the i think most romantic lion king ever!i love the music especially the song (love will find a way).lion king 2 is also a hilarious new story with you know who timon and pumbaa.once kiara gose out to play, she sneks of from timon and pumbaa and starts to run off to the outlands.once she is in the out lands ,she mets a firce lion cub named kovu.when kovu and kiara get older they fall in love.but simba dose not trust him when zeira attacks so simba makes kovu leave the pride lands .but than kiara gose out to find kovu and dose find him.then just in time kiara and kovu stop simba and zeira from fighting .so the out landers come back to the pride lands to join simbas pride with kovu, kiara, simba, nala, timon and pumbaa.i relly liked the lion king 2 and i hope you will to.
This review is from: The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (Two-Disc Special Edition) (DVD) We enjoyed the sequel enough to want to own it. This movie still gets viewed by the whole family, as it seems pretty timeless. Disney really has created a whole world and this movie did not disappoint us.
OK, I'm a sentimental sort of soul, but I really did love this Romeo-and-Juliet but without most of the dying movie. The songs are lovely...well, 'Upendi' I found rather...er...random, but hey. It's a Disney movie. 'Love will find a way' is nice, a good successor to 'Can You feel the love tonight'. And 'he lives in you' is beautiful. Better than 'Circle of life' in my opinion. And we get to see the characters all grown up! Simba is the typical overprotective father, but still retains some of his sense of humour. Timon and Pumbaa are there from the start, much to my delight (for some reason, I can't stand them in a movie on their own, but I love them when teamed up with Simba et al). Nala is...well, I wouldn't mind her for my mum. Their daughter Kiara is much like the young Simba, and very sweet.Highlights: Rafiki. What can I say, I love his little chat with Mufasa on the subject of the kids. Zira, Kovu's rather villainous mother, is particularly good (well, evil, but y'know). I also liked 'One of us', sung by the animals of the Pride Lands and added to layer by layer. As Timon and Pumbaa would say:"Love. Not like. Love."
