Not bad at all...

Anna Faris (Well known for appearing in the Scary Movie films) plays adim and narrow-minded Shelley Darlington bunny girl of the Playboymansion, but when she leaves she takes to Zeta's house on a collegecampus to for fill place as a house mum. Only her fellow girls are abunch of losers, Shelley turns them into one of her own...I was'not too keen on seeing this film today, but I went along withit......Okay the beginning was'not very good and it put me right off, but itgot good all of a sudden. I expected one of those cliché, stereotypicalflick chicks but its completely original and down-to-earth! Even ifyour not a fan of these kind of movies- watch it and you'll see! Youmight think it was'not as bad after all...

Fun to watch but don't expect too much

The movie was fun to watch but VERY predictable. If you are looking for a piece of fluffy to watch to fill your time then this movie is for you. :)

A guys perspective on the sexy house bunny

The House Bunny was one of the funnest and freshest movies I have seenthis year. It had many good laughs. That wasn't the best part of thismovie though it was mostly the humor and Anna Faris. She did a terrificjob playing the character of a playboy bunny. She gets kicked out ofthe playboy mansion because she was to old. Their were some fununexpected turns this movie took. It was very cute and very fun towatch. Emma Stone was very good as well and she added a lot to thismovie. She looked very good and was extremely funny. The whole moviewas good. The cast was good as well. This movie didn't really have tomany flaws at all that i can think of. I think in my opinion this wasthe best chick flick comedy I have seen. I would see this movie againjust to see the cast and the funny comments they make. This movie hadway more facial expressions and comments that will make you laugh. AnnaFaris was definitely funnier than she ever has been in this movie. Thevisuals were very cool as well. This movie was fresh, original, funny, fun and very sexy. I would say go see this movie at all costs. Don'tmiss out on this one it was great. This was definitely a great chickflick for teen aged girls to see. Enjoy this one I know I sure did.

Faris makes this film funny

Hubs and I watched The House Bunny this week. I'm noticing that my movie choices are getting more and more juvenile these days. And the really sad thing is that I'm enjoying these movies. Maybe it has to do with my need for stress relief. I'm definitely more into the escapism than the "movies-that-make-you-think" these days. The House Bunny revolves around Shelly (played with absolutely perfect wide-eyed certainty by Anna Faris), a 27-year-old Playboy bunny who gets kicked out of the mansion and is forced to fend for herself. With precious little skills and intelligence in her repertiore, Shelly decides that her perfect job would be house mother at a sorority. That's how she ends up at the Zeta Alpha Zeta house, where a group of misfit girls must pledge 30 new members or face losing their charter.Luckily for these oddball coeds, Shelly is a master at makeovers, partying, and giving guys what they want. Before the girls know it, Zeta Alpha Zeta is one of the hottest tickets on campus, and Shelly's found herself a new home.Of course, there are complications and personal growth (and even a birth) along the way (blah blah blah), but what makes this movie worth watching is Faris' performance. The girl is, quite simply, one of the best young female comedians in Hollywood. The collection of actresses playing the sorority sisters are fun, too, with Emma Stone nailing her portrayal of Natalie, the goofy, bookish president of the Zetas.Worth seeing. This ain't life-changing, just funny.

Anna Faris finds herself transforms in House Bunny

Anna Faris discovers a facet of method acting? Yes. Not since Christian Bale muscled up in order to one up Leo DiCaprio for the title role in American Psycho has someone altered their body so very dramatically for a role. The previous soft Anna has been replaced by the T-1000 Anna, hotter than ever, and funnier to boot.As far as goofy comedies go, the writing was good. The plot was cute. The situations were were well-thought out and hilarious.Shelley (Faris) I plays a wanna-be Playboy bunny who is cast from the Playboy Mansion after her 28th birthday. To put a roof over her head she takes a group of social outcast sorority sisters in need of a house mother under her wing and shows them the ropes of presenting themselves and talking to men. In turn the sisters teach her to an intellectual man (played by Colin Hanks). The social blunders are numerous and the movie borrows heavily from Sorority Boys, in a good way.Anna Faris was goofy in the Scary Movie series, good in Waiting, but has truly come into her own here. This is a must see.

The House Bunny

I heard about this film because of the leading actress, and the titlemade it obvious that it was something to do with Playboy, but it is notsomething seedy or full of gross jokes, a typical fish out water stylestory, and one I looked forward to trying. Basically Shelley Darlingson(Scary Movie's Anna Faris) is a bunny girl working at the Plaboymansion, and she celebrates her twenty seventh birthday, but is shockedto be told in a note from Hugh 'Hef' Hefner that she will have toleave, being too old (in bunny years). With nowhere to go she packs herthings and looks around to start a new life, and following some prettygirls who remind her of herself, and she finds herself in a luxurysorority house. The girls living there being completely stuck up, andShelley not being a student, she is rejected, but she finds the othersorority house, Zeta Alpha Zeta, which is less luxurious and full ofgirls that are all socially awkward. They at first reject her too, butbespectacled virgin Natalie (Zombieland's Emma Stone) makes the othergirls change their minds, and soon enough they realise their new housemother's pulling power. As time passes Shelley helps the girls gainmore self confidence, including with their image change, and theycertainly get more attention from boys, and Shelley herself meetsretirement home worker Oliver (Colin Hanks, Tom's son), and ironically, she needs flirting tips. There is a point when she is becoming morepopular than the sorority house and other girls, and they blame her forthis, and at the same time Hef is calling her from the Playboy mansionoffering her a photo shoot, he never wanted her to leave, the note wasfaked by another bunny. Shelley realises she can't see herself goingback to her old life, and she cares too much for the girls, who are indanger of losing the sorority house, due to lack of pledges, more areinterested in the rival Phi Iota Mus. Dean Simmons (ChristopherMcDonald) is about to take away the house, but the house bunny comesback and gives a stirring speech about what she has learnt about loveand acceptance, and girls start raising their hands to pledge. In theend, with the thirtieth pledge they needed coming from the friend ofmean Ashley (Sarah Wright), they keep the house, and Shelley, who doesfind happiness with Oliver as well, stays with them, keeping in contactwith Playboy. Also starring Kat Dennings as Mona, Beverly D'Angelo asMrs. Hagstrom, Katharine McPhee as Harmony, Kiely Williams as Lilly,Rumer Willis as Joanne, Dana Goodman as Carrie Mae, Kimberly Makkouk asTanya, Tyson Ritter as Colby and Shaquille 'Shaq' O'Neal. Faris, whorose to fame film by film, plays the dumb blonde to the hilt, but isnot too annoying and is a lovable character, and the supporting cast ofugly ducklings turned prettier are alright too, as well as the otherstars. It is a story you may think, with a Playboy storyline, it wouldcontain softcore pornography and lots of nudity, or it would be tryingto make you laugh with sick and stupid gags, but it is a bit more grownup than that, I will confess the script is a bit simple and predictableat times, but it is a nice and funny story all the same, a fun comedy.Worth watching!

Anna Faris Carries This Movie Perfectly

This is a great funny movie, Anna Faris Is brilliant and hopefully this movie will make her a bigger star. Although this is a typical happy madison story line, Faris and a great supporting cast make this film a winner

João Pedro Tomás 2012-05-04 12:12:59

Anna Faris is the star and the savior of this silly and cliché'd story!

A girlie and romantic silly comedy about a playboy honey who was"kicked" from Hugh Heffner's house. Apparently, she was kicked out. Infact she managed to find a house very fast-- a fraternity which is onthe edge of ceasing to exist. And her task would be to help it survivethe fraternities' rivalries.Anna Faris really acted beautifully. Of course not Oscar worthy butreally marvelous acting-- not overacting. She did her job wonderfully. The rest was less than B-grade. But it's still a funny movie. A girlmovie, good even for boys. Well, not for all boys... but for most ofthem.

I liked it

Well, I'm embarrassed to admit that I really enjoyed this silly movie. I hadn't intended to see it, but got pushed into watching it with my family. And I liked it better than they did! It was actually very sweet. The plot, of course, is a cliche. Nerdy sorority is made cool by an ex-bunny. Not original. But it isn't meant to be. This whole thing is just a wonderful frame for the comedic talents of the people involved. We particularly enjoyed the scene where Shelley tries to act like Marilyn Monroe over the steam vent, and gets her knees badly steamed. That is just so silly that you have to laugh. Also, at my house, we just find it so strange that the series "the girls next door," whose performers are in this film (the Faris role, Shelley, is supposed to be living at the Playboy Mansion as the movie opens), is one of the sweetest shows on TV. We expected trash, and were confounded by pleasant people that we genuinely like. So that predisposed us to like this film, too. There is a certain innocence to the whole thing. So, I find myself in the position of recommending this film to anyone who enjoys silly comedy.

Mindless drivel

Stick the gorgeous and talented Anna Faris in front of a camera and youcan't fail to be entertained - or so I thought. She is one of the bestcomic actors around, but even she can't make a silk purse out of asow's ear, and this is a whole big fat ugly sow of a movie.A mind-bogglingly dull and unoriginal script combines with a total lackof any direction to produce a series of embarrassing andcringe-inducing scenes, and if it wasn't for my love of Anna, the factI spent £3 on the DVD and an unparalleled state of boredom, I would nothave bothered watching this all the way through.Frankly I don't understand why Anna got involved with this, or why shefelt it necessary to parade around in skimpy outfits which are soobviously intended to titillate rather than add substance to the plot.I should have known by the Playboy theme from the start that this wouldbe nothing more than exploitation and a cynical exercise in Hollywoodmarketing, but I refused to believe Anna would stoop so low. However, low she has stooped and it is not a pretty site. If you loveAnna Faris, don't watch this appalling excuse for entertainment.

The House Bunny Fails

Having also seen the ultra-violent Death Race in the same week as TheHouse Bunny I realized one big thing; clichéd violence doesn't offerany kind of real reaction whereas clichéd humor can still manage tomake you laugh as long as the delivery is entertaining and fresh. Sure, the dumb blond jokes in The House Bunny are old and played out, butAnna Faris gives you continuing reason to laugh in a film that is farfunnier than it really deserves to be. The House Bunny plays on thesexy-but-dumb stereotype to the fullest extent and Faris has proved inthe past, as a regular in the otherwise awful Scary Movie films, shecan pull this off. On top of looking amazing, Faris gives this filmevery reason to exist. Co-stars Emma Stone, Kat Dennings and theincreasingly emaciated Rumer Willis offer up a couple of additionallaughs, but it is Faris that leads the charge. She plays right up tothe edge of the dumb blond stereotype and only occasionally tosses inone too many clichéd jokes. Nevertheless, you forgive her thanks to aconsistent number of chuckles throughout the film. This isn't to say this is a classic comedy by any means, but anyonethat goes to see House Bunny should walk away with a smile. This isn'ta film to hate, it offers up exactly what the trailers promise and itdelivers a little extra with an unexpected f-bomb dropped in the mixand a peek at Faris's little bum to keep the men paying attention. Perhaps the one major shock would be Colin Hanks; it seems those TomHanks genes aren't quite paying off just yet. After a decent sized rolein Peter Jackson's King Kong, Hanks has only managed to worm his wayinto mediocre films at best. Then again, he hasn't shown anyone anyreason to give him anything with more meat on it so I guess I shouldn'tbe too surprised. Katherine McPhee of "American Idol" fame plays asmall role in the feature as does Beverly D'Angelo, but both arerelatively inconsequential. The ladies in the audience are more likely to get a kick out of TheHouse Bunny and the fellas dragged to the theater with them should beable to enjoy themselves as well despite the estrogen oozing of thescreen. It isn't like this is a film you should rush out to the theaterto see, but you could definitely do worse in your selection.

unintentional hilarity

I want to know why there is such a strong ESPN connection here. We see ex-ESPN football analyst (and career NFL backup quarterback as well as being notorious for getting fired due to sexual harassment charges) Sean Salisbury with Matt Leinart (another so far career NFL backup QB but he's parlayed that USC college fame into this cameo role) at the Playboy Mansion early on.Then ex-ESPN sports anchor Dan Patrick shows up as a cop (say what?).Throw in Hef and "The Girls Next Door" women, and it's a veritable party of B-list celebs.Colin Hanks must have got a nice paycheck to show up in this disaster of a flick.Hey, I love B movies but this has virtually no laughs. It's basically Legally Blonde redone on campus by worse actors and even worse scriptwriters. It does have a lot of scares (Rumer Willis's face for starters). What a train wreck and the only saving grace is Emma Stone looks like a talent to watch. She seems the only actress in the bunch who has any comedic sense and timing.

The House Bunny is a pleasant enough movie for anyone not looking for anything that makes you think too much...

Well, I've now seen The House Bunny and all I've got to say is it'swhat I expected judging from the previews and reviews and that meansthat it was pleasant and uneven and shallow and perhaps a little smartbut it was enjoyable so that's a mostly good thing. The girls are goodeye candy but they can act and Anna Faris is especially a remarkablecomic presence. I really like when she mentions everyone's names withthat deep croaking voice. As her second banana, Emma Stone is alsopretty good with what she's given here and Kat Dennings, who I loved inNick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, isn't bad here either. Colin Hanks,Tom's son, has a sweet presence too but the real surprise was seeingBeverly D'Angelo and Christopher McDonald in their roles especiallyMcDonald since I usually think of his not-so-sympathetic role in Thelmaand Louise when I think of him. Well, I think I've said too much soI'll just say The House Bunny is an okay comedy that should make the 90or so minutes go down easy to anyone not looking for the next Oscarbait movie...

Bunny Times.

I loved this. A very lighthearted film, with some very funny moments,It's got quite mature themes but I thought it was hilarious. Shelleydresses in quite a provocative way but I don't think that it is a bad.The story-line is clever and funny. My favourite part of the film iswhere Shelley gives all the girls in the house a make-over. I thinkthat Anna Faris' delivered a superb performance but saying that Ithought all the actors were good. This is a great film for a sleepoverwith girlie friends. If you want a girlie film to watch with friends ata sleepover or an easy-going film then this is the one for you! OverallI would give The House Bunny 8/10.

I thought i would hate it but i actually loved it

I actually liked this movie. I thought i would hate this movie becauseI'm not into those like perky blonde girls but this movie kinda caughtmy attention because I love the Playboy girls Kendra,Holly, and Bridgetso i wanted to watch it. I went with my friend and this movie had melaugh so hard. My friend and I were laughing so hard we got hyper andwe were really loud.I loved this movie.I give it two thumbs up. Theactress was really funny. I knew her from the movies Scary movie and iliked them so i figured that in this movie she would be funny too andshe was. I like how she turned nerdy girls into like glamor girls andthey all looked pretty. Especially that one girl from Super Bad.

rmvieira 2012-04-24 10:46:03

Silly with a lot of clichés, but Faris is fun to watch.

Don't expect too much of The House Bunny. It's just another teen moviethat you can definitely judge by its cover. It's basically a sillystory of a playboy bunny that is kicked off the Playboy Mansion and hasreally nothing to hold on to - and has to start over. The plot line isvery simple and the movie is very predictable with loads of clichés.Anna Faris' performance is the only thing that can save this movie. She's funny and can really get into a character, even though this roleseemed like her roles on the Scary Movie series, playing a dumb andshallow girl. Only hotter and blond this time.Watch this if you want a very light movie with nothing special aboutit. Almost good for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Thankfully it's not along movie.

Cute

It was a cute film.I figured that when you hear the name and find out about it being about a playboy bunny you think 'T&A' and nudeity but thankfully it wasnt. Some scenes were funny and some werent even when they were intended to be funny *Guy+cat+nipples= me yawn*I found it cute how a bunch of frompy girls are able to realize the true beauty of themselves. Plus they had tones of cute guys*eyecandy.*Its a okay film and I find few happy gilmore movies soso and some that just kick the bucket.I suggest renting it or find someone who has it and you can bum it. If you like it buy it. If not, you wont regret the money loss. ^_^

2012-04-23 12:06:44

I'm glad I borrowed it and didnt pay to rent it!

This was without a doubt one of the worst movies I have watched in a long time. I wasn't expecting a masterpiece but I was hoping it would be kind of cute. The main actress is attractive but it takes far more than that to make a move watchable (maybe guys would view it differently but my husband and son thought it was stupid as well). The whole plot about why she got kicked out of the mansion in the first place was stupid. She admits in the movie that people only started loving her when she grew up into a beautiful girl, as a child no one wanted her. Her charges at the sorority were very cliche, not funny and not likable. None of them had any talent with boys however one still managed to be pregnant. The worst part of the movie had to be her habit of repeating names in a "exorcist" type voice to remember them. I have no idea what the point behind that was and why it was considered funny. My advice - skip it and watch something (just about anything) else.
