Hardly a movie.

I went to the theater no expecting much. I wanted to relax and see someaction and a bit of a story. Instead I got a long music video withincredibly bad acting, 3 action sequences and totaly unconvincing and badlywritten story. Only thing good about this movie(if I can call it that) arethe cars. Do not go to see it !!!

A joy ride of entertainment.

The fast and furious will not exactly WOW you. But it will do enough tokeep you entertained through out, thanks to it's excellent cast andfurious race scenes. The film was a good idea and it could have notbeen executed any better then it was. The not so familiar director RobCohen did a very good job. Most scenes were well panned out and ribbontied with it's cool racing or just brilliant acting. For that it reallydoes deserve 9 stars.The major impact this movie had was it's pride. The fast and thefurious did not get too a head of them selves and also didn't have thebiggest budget to work with. But the movie reflects on a job well done.The movie is just simple plain fun, it take you for a enjoyable ride.The racing scenes were well though out, intense and very fun to watch.Some scenes were all the friends are together were witty and fun towatch too. The script was nothing major but decent. The acting was thebrilliant, Vin Diesel knew and played his role very well, his role hadthe major impact. The plot was interesting but nothing real special.Overall the movie was very enjoyable, great racing, cool cars with atouch of action and humour.

What better way to spend 2 hours...

This may be niave as I am come from the United Kingdom and do not know muchabout the Street Racing scene - but does it really matter? No! This moviewas fantastic! Who cares about how realistic everything is? The cars lookamazing, the women even better! It is slickly shot and the stunt scenes arebrilliant. Rob Cohen's DVD Commentary is fascinating. To listen tosomeonetalk so passionately about their movie just heightens the experience evenmore. OK, so the dialogue is laughable in parts and the plot is somewhatlacking but does that really matter for this type of movie? All this movierequires is that you sit back, switch the brain off and get swept away byall that is going on and sit in awe of the people who actually own thecars.Then when it is over, go back and watch it again but this time listen tothe excellent commentary!

The Fast & The Furious --Now here we have an excellent movie! Maybe it doesn't stun you withsuddenchanges in the story or doesn't own a complex plot but still it has anunique atmosphere throughout the film. THE FILM'S GOT ATTITUDE!One plus is the MAN himself mr. Mark Vincent aka Vin Diesel playing DomTorretto. Shame he's not appearing in the sequel.And we can't forget the machinery. The real beauties in the film. Thecars.My fav the Nissan Skyline GT-R r33.You just have to love this film...-- // StimBe // --

Fasten your seatbelts!

This is a VERY fast movie! Put it this way, if you like cars at all, youwill love this movie. Fast cars, fast women.... you've heard all thecliches, but they are all in this movie. The cars look excellent and theymust have spent a small fortune for each take on the crashes!

This movie was really good. If your a Vin Diesel fan you'll love thisfilm.If your a car fanatic, this movie is for you. If you love the adrenalinerush-- this movie has u jumping and screaming for more.Basically this movie rocked and I am now one of Vin Diesels biggest fans.

A turd with wheels

I am amazed that this movie has managed to pull a 6.2 on the IMDB average! What a piece of garbage. Horrible acting, stupid gen-x extreme sportsnonsense, and a bunch of fast but hideous cars make this a real stinker. Ifyou want a car movie, at least have one where the cars look halfway decent,as opposed to a bunch of tacky colors and splash graphics. It was aboutlike watching the demo at the front of a poor racing videogame.

In order to like the movie you have to understand STREET RACING!

I myself loved the movie. The intense car races and good looking guys. Iloved the plot and there was a plot for all of you who said there wasn't.Maybe you should watch it again, and if your too ignorant to watch it againso people like me can prove you wrong then I guess you already no yourwrong.Now if your one of those people who have nothing to do with street racingthen by it's trailers you should have known it wasn't a movie for you.Whichit other words means you wasted $8 or $9 bucks and your the only one toblame for it.The whole movie was summing up exactly what happens when you street raceand when your apart of that crowd. So I suggest if you didn't like thismovie don't even attempt to show up to watch street racing because if youdoyour most likely going to be watching " The fast and the Furious"again.

point break on wheels.....

close your eyes and paul walker sounds just like keaneu reeves, thereisn'tmuch difference. otherwise i enjoyed the movie. vin diesel still thinksthathe is selling stock to boiler room victims, he still hasn't made the breakto being a quality actor. i look forward to seeing more of jordanabrewster.

Cinematography was great despite bad plot and acting

This movie was all in all o.k., but the only reason I stayed through thewhole thing was the spectacular camera angles and directing. Everythingelsein this film was bad :the acting, writing and plot. The whole scene whereVin Diesel, "Dominic", was talking about how his father died was suchforced sentiment I almost laughed. A movie like this should never try topull at heart strings because it isn't working.

Horrible

This movie was horrible... that's the bottom line. It was made for themoronic pre pubescents to immature teens group. If you have an IQ of over,lets say.... 80? please oh please stay away from this load of crap. Theonlypeople I know who enjoyed this movie were kids who dont know what a goodmovie is, dumb girls who think paul walker and/or vin diesel is/are hot, ormorons. Even though this movie was set to "entertain," it DID not entertainme. I dont need some silly movie to see some pretty cars. Even some of myfriends who are fast-car fanatics, hated this movie. But hey, you may likeit.

Rob Cohen reinvents the Hod Rod Movie

Like costars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, `The Fast and the Furious'is sleek, sexy, all attitude and dubious morality. Expect no surprises fromthe thin script, just hot metal, great tunes, flash and pizzaz. Paul Walkeris the GQ-Pretty Anglo love interest. Jordan Brewster plays Diesel's babysister. Both are pros, but they pale against the impact of Diesel andRodriguez. Also of special note are Giovanni Ribisi-clone Chad Lindbert asJesse and Matt Schulze as Vince, Diesel's childhood buddy and Walker's rivalfor Brewster. If you have ANY affection for 50s hot rod movies, see this one. The metalmay be a different pedigree but the heart is all there.

Have these guys ever driven a car before?

I saw this movie with a bunch of "real racers" - guys (& gals) who drivecars on real race tracks, both Drag & Road courses. We got a big kick outof the movie, and how inaccurate it was. Double clutching upshifts?! SelfHealing cars? Colored washers that fall out from under the dash, andfloorboards that fall out, only to be back in place when a passenger getsin...Save your $$ and wait for it on video.

Sick Of Dinky Cars

It is all a matter of taste. But, am I the only one who finds thesestupid little 4 cylinder cars to be obnoxious? They look like they cameout of a cheesy Gamera film. And they sound like a retard trying tosing an opera. A God-awful buzzing noise. I frankly don't care how fastthey are, or how much boost they run. If you have 10,000 dollars layingaround, you can make almost any vehicle do anything you want. This filmjust glorifies what I can't stand - white guys, and other non-blacks,trying to act tough and hard with their gay, little, girlie cars.Thistrendy feckfest, and the two movies that followed, loves make thedumbest comparisons. A 4 cylinder car running nitrous and/or turboshould not be compared to a single cam, pushrod V8 with normalaspiration. Most horsepower figures should not be trusted either. Howwere the dyno sensors calibrated? How was the engine treated at thetime of testing? If you want an example of V8 turbo, look at theSledgehammer Vette'.Around 900 horses and 254.76 mph. Kiss my a*s NOPI!Or is it N-O-P-E-N-I-S?

Dumb Fun

Here's one of the goofiest movies in many a moon, but it's also damn fun.Meathead Vin Diesel and pretty boy Paul Walker shake up the undergroundstreet racing world in "The Fast and the Furious," a movie that seems oh-sosimilar to "Point Break," which is superior. But if you like fast cars andloud movies, this is the ticket. Director Ron Cohen lets it all fly here,and it pays off. Great effects and nice, loud car chases. Grab the DVD andcrank it.Grade: A-

The worst movie since Ishtar

The race scene's were the only interesting part, and they weren'tallthat great. I've seen better acting on South Park. I was so boredIwanted to fall asleep but the wall of noise managed to keep meawake.If you like racing watch ESPN not this terrible movie.

A great movie for the audience it's made for

For all the car-buffs, and teen guys who like to see shiny Rice-rocket carszooming under trucks and intense action: forget what the critics have saidabout this movie. The plot was actually better than i expected. Who went tosee this movie and expected a flawless script and good acting? It's a teenmovie! When i went to go see it, i was mainly concerned with the action.This movie is great to test your new home theater sound system on. It's abad movie if you're looking for deep dialogue and characters that you candirectly relate to. This is a good ACTION movie. I particularly enjoyed thephotography and race sequences that were everything i expected from thepreviews. Forget about analyzing this movie like Roger Ebert when you seeit, and instead just sit back with a couple of friends around the bigscreenand "ooo and ahhh" over the action, throw popcorn at the screen wheneverthebad guys come in, and drool over Paul Walker. I gave it a 8 out of 10 justfor the rush it gave me. Ignore what everyone has said. See it for yourselfand judge. I don't normally like teen movies, but i liked The Fast and theFurious.

subtle and nuanced

Uhhh... didn't they already, like, do all of this in Point Break? Samefreakin' movie, just not as good. Not that Point Break is "Raging Bull"or anything, it's just that this movie (Fast and the Furious) tries SOHARD to make sure that ALL THAT ATTITUDE is RIGHT IN YOUR FACE. PointBreak at least had a little laid back surfer dude 'tude to it(although, we finally figured out that Keanu wasn't actually ACTING inthat movie). Plus, Fast and the Furious lacks that world class quote ala "I. am an EFF-BEE-YI A-gent. I. CANNOT. ROB. a BANK!" The best TheFast and the Furious can muster is "If I win, I get the money... ANDthe respect. That's more important to some people." Wow. Thanks forspelling that out.

soap opera?

The title sounds to me like that of a soap opera, the difference being thatsoap operas are more interesting than this drivel. Others have referred tothe plot of this flick. I must have missed that part. There was a plot? Cameras were turned on as cars sped around and people postured. Thatdoesn't equal a movie.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted: The Movie

Super charged car porn actioner starring Vin 'One Chin' Diesel as chieforganiser and main speed demon in an underground street racing gang,the lawless swine. Paul Walker plays Brian O'Conner, a man so gosh damned handsome youpray for a head on collision so that some flying shrapnel can ruin hisall American looks, the new kid in town who foolishly bets away thepink slip to his own car in a race he fails to win, meaning the vehiclewinds up belonging to Chin Diesel. Through scenes of dialogue so macho the directors hand appearsintermittently to wipe seminal fluid off the camera lens O'Connerwheedles his way into the affections of Diesel, much to the annoyanceof several of his gang members. What Chin doesn't realise is thatO'Conner isn't all that he seems. He's a bloody copper. Cue the inevitable divided loyalties as the police start to close in onthe street racers and O'Conner must choose between his job and hissqueeze. So, the plot is utter drivel and all but a remake of Point Break, butit matters not, kids. Gather round, now, gather round. It's all aboutthe action as souped up 'rides' go fender to fender at speeds that are,quite frankly, perilous. Honestly, somebody could get hurt. Terrible in almost every sense, the high speed chaos more than makes upfor it so, if you can find it in yourself to just switch your brain offand just go along for the ride, you may well enjoy this.
