Disappointing

I was thinking that with two solid actors playing the lead roles in this film, it would be funny to watch and a good satire on bounty hunters. But it turned out to be a big letdown in more ways than one. The story didn't have a very good plot, and the writing came across as really sloppy with a very bad ending. It started off with promise - as so many bad movies do - but it only went downhill from there. Definitely not a best for Jennifer or Gerard.

Total Formula, No Sparkle -

Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler) is a bounty hunter, recently divorced and recently fired from the police department. He has gambling debts to pay and becomes ecstatic when he realizes his latest gig is bail-skipper ex wife, Nicole (Jennifer Aniston). Not only does he get to nab Nicole, this job pays a whopping $50,000, much more than the usual fare. The plot is set, but this becomes formula comedy chase and make-up. Nicole has no intention of getting nabbed without a fight. Complicating matters, Nicole's wannabe-boyfriend, Stewart (Jason Sudeikis) joins the chase. The movie was just a basic formula script, thrown together to make a buck on the star power of Jennifer Aniston. She does her best to save it, but it just falls like heavy bread. There is no sparkle to make it work.

Three for the movie, four for Jennifer Anston but BAD GIRL!

I only got this movie because it featured Jennifer Aniston, and I am so annoyed at how crummy the movie is that I almost made it a three. News flash for Jennifer Anston: you're a brand now, do NOT sign up for low-rent plots. This was so annoying I ended up flipping NEXT on the controller several times, it is just not the high quality film one would expect with Jennifer Aniston who is all grown up and no longer should be playing the fool.Movies featuring her that I have really liked very much:Rumor Has It... (Widescreen Edition)Along Came Polly (Widescreen Edition)Shees. Going through 36 sheets of links I am reminded of how many second-rate movies she has been in since starring in friends. Perhaps its time she changed agents and went totally up-scale. Please, no more stupid movies.

Awful...Awful..Awful!!!!

This is by the far the worst comedy I've seen in a while. SO BORING!!Jennifer Aniston for some reason is a horrible actor now and the scriptis just terrible. I fell asleep the first time and then gave it anothershot and made it through the movie only after reminding myself I spent10 bucks on it! I honestly don't know why people would even consider rating this moviehigher than 4. I anticipate this movie will be out on DVD within thenext couple of weeks considering how mind numbingly awful it is. Toeveryone out there; save your ten bucks and wait to rent it from a redbox if you really must watch it.

It seemed to be the next big rom-com/action blockbuster to come ... But it is so not!

Here I had expected much more from the explosive trailer . Where did itgo wrong? It seemed in advance to have all the ingredients to be thefollowing rom-com/action blockbuster to come ... But it is so not! Thepace of the film is terribly slow and stretched. They have really askedthe wrong director. Andy Tennant is brilliant with slow, historicalfilms and is really not suitable for the genre. The dialogues are notvery interesting to listen to. The exaggerated soundtrack full of greatsongs, that totally don't fit with the story or the situation in thefilm, makes it even worse than it already was. What bothered mepersonally is that actress Christine Baranski was not sufficientlyshown and used in the film. The woman has so much acting talent, especially comical. Maybe more good humor would have helped? Very sorryfor Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler who I liked as on-screen coupletogether. But that was not enough to save this (or any other) movie.

Truly Awful

This is a truly awful movie. Generally I'll watch anything and find something redeeming about it, but even with the lovely Jennifer Anniston, this is a waste of time.

Bounty Hunt To Find Love, Again

Sometimes, the hardest thing is admitting your failure at love. Despite differences and egos between two people, we all have mistakes. Owning up to it is the hardest thing and finding love through a second chance is special. Even if it involves this absurd journey where two people who start off hating each other are thrust into a tight bind and need each other to survive. The Bounty Hunter, starring Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston is just another comedic romance. The film tries to develop the story by introducing suspense and mystery as to why the bounty hunter who is chasing his ex-wife is suddenly being hunted himself. It has an identity crisis that never fully lives up to anything more than just another comedic love comedy movie. There are too many movies and I would only recommend if your a fan of both Aniston and Butler.

it tries to entertain, it doesn't do it but at least tries

Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler), a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter, gets hisdream job when he is assigned to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife,reporter Nicole Hurly (Jennifer Aniston). It is a movie which onlypurpose is to entertain and maybe it does entertain. It may work forhalf hour with some interesting chasing scenes and some funny momentsbut after that it just turns into a ridiculous and repetitive. Thestory is quite predictable, the plot is not well developed and therhythm although it has a quick pace, its inevitable to feel tired orbored due to its repetitiveness. The cast is good, Gerard Butleralready shows us that he can do almost every role, but I feel that inthis movie I felt him a little overacted. Jennifer Aniston is good anddecent a little plain but good anyway. In conclusion, The bounty Hunteris an entertaining movie but that's it.

Must Miss Category

THE BOUNTY HUNTER fizzles without ever being ignited. Sarah Thorp wrote this ambiguous tale and Andy Tennant (who ha done some good movies) 'directed' it and likely the only reason it ever made it into theaters lies in the decision to place name actors in the leads. That doesn't even help.Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler, grossly miscast) is an ex-cop turned bounty hunter whose track record is less than acceptable. He lands a chance to redeem his failing career when he is assigned to bring in his bail-jumping ex-wife, a news reporter Nicole Hurly (Jennifer Anniston) whose 'crime' is as foolish as the script. The 'cute twist' is that Milo and Nicole were married but found their commitment to work a barricade in maintaining their marriage. The rest of the film is Milo chasing down Nicole who happens to be tracking a news story on a criminal and somewhere along the way the two have moments of reconciliation quickly botched by the clumsiness of Milo's bounty hunter abilities and Nicole's investigating warps. The chase becomes more of a stagy thriller than the intended comedy romance - and there is absolutely no chemistry between Aniston and Butler on the screen.Tiny cameos are embarrassing, even in the hands of actors such as Christine Baranski, Cathy Moriarty, and Gio Perez. It just doesn't fly. Grady Harp, September 11

quirky fun

I'm a Gerard Butler fan but I normally don't go to romantic comedies(he doesn't do those well), but this had just enough action in it to get me interested. Surisingly I really liked it, if you have a goofy sense of humor you should like it. As for the idiot that says Gerard curls his mouth to cut down on his accent.....if you know anything about Gerard, you know that's not the case. And in my theatre everyone was laughing so I guess he was just in a theatre with people who had no sense of humor at all. I'm a die hard action movie buff, and I HATE chick flicks, but this definately was one romantic comedy I'll add to my DVD collection.

Terrible Movie!

I watched this film on a flight home from Europe. It was completely unfunny and one of the worst films I ever saw. After a while I could not take it anymore and with probably a half hour or so left in the film I actually chose to stare into space on the plane rather than finish watching this piece of garbage. I wasted a whole hour of staring into space time on this clunker.

Jennifer Aniston makes this film for me

I had never heard of Jennifer Aniston before seeing this movie but wasimpressed with her performance. She shows a lot of moxie and spunk asan investigative reporter who has a bad run in with a police horse (!).Gerard Butler is her lowlife ex husband reduced to being a bountyhunter who has the "labor of love" to bring her in. Aniston makes thismovie worth watching with her grit and street smart, Butler's characteris such a loser you can practically smell him from your seat. Anistonhas a lot of Kate Hepburn in her, when you think of it that is thegreatest compliment you can pay an actress. You watch these two andwonder what she ever saw in him. If it weren't for her, his characterwould have been dead a few times over. I felt like cheering when shetased him and gave him the knee and finally handcuffed him in the end.SPOILER ALERT I knew that they would fall in love again while solvingthe case, but it just isn't convincing. I can recommend this movie butthink its unfair to Jennifer Aniston that in a way she had to do thework of two people. Oh by the way, I wanted to mention that Carol Kanehas an amusing cameo in this film. I really loved her work in When AStranger Calls, License To Drive and Scrooged. Its always a joy seeingher.

Talented cast but missed opportunity

The Bounty Hunter seemed like a great premise and idea on paper. Ithought that it could be pretty good considering Gerald Butler as thelead male as a bounty hunter and Jennifer Aniston as the lead female. But the films results didn't translate into success and the film beinggreat. The movie had some action and good scenes but honestly throughthe most part of it, it was dull, boring and clichéd. Also this moviewasn't funny at all. Some scenes were meant to make people laugh but inmy opinion they just failed and went flat. The plot was also somewhatconfusing at many parts yet the ending was very predictable. The filmstarts off pretty simple, the storyline is under way and its easy tofollow but about 50 mins into the film it gets more complicated. Thereare three story points going on at one time and it all just becomes agiant mess. Though some may like that, the majority really wont. Thefilm also stars Christine Baranski and Jason Sudekis.

The Aniston & Butler Show

It is a well known fact that American comedies generally suffer fromlackluster scripts, usually employed as vehicles for rising orestablished stars. The Bounty Hunter is no exception, as its charm liessolely in the joint presence of Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston, rather than in the fact that Andy Tennant (Hitch) is directing. Ofcourse, even two fine actors such as those in this film are no good ifthe material is beneath their talent. The story goes like this: Butler is an ex-cop who currently works as abounty hunter. One day, he is given the opportunity to bring in hisex-wife (Aniston), who is wanted by the police after jumping bail. Ashe tracks her down and embarks on a hellish journey to take her backhome, the two find themselves in the middle of a murky murder case, notto mention a series of situations that put their hatred for each otherto the test.On paper, there's plenty of potential for a moderately entertainingaction comedy: think Midnight Run with a rom-com twist. Unfortunately, the film is an uneven mess, jumping from cringe-worthy "romantic"moments to OTT action scenes, complete with clichéd hotel room/stripclub bits that have been out of fashion for quite some time. The tonalinconsistencies are reflected in the acting, as well: supportingperformances range from passably straight (Jeff Garlin) to borderlineridiculous (Christine Baranski), whereas the leading duo does generallyfine when they're together, less so separately, with Aniston beingclearly more at ease with the less physically demanding stuff, whilethe opposite is true for Butler. In short, The Bounty Hunter is an inconsistent picture that doesn'thave enough laughs for a comedy, nor the appropriate direction for anaction flick. The best option would be to ignore it altogether.

BORRRIIIIINNNGGG

This review is from: The Bounty Hunter (DVD) How could two such lovely actors be so boring? Do not waste your money or time. I am a fan of both these actors and was disappointed. Very cliched script so probably wasn't their fault except for choosing to act in this movie

The Vidiot Reviews...

The Bounty HunterIf bounty hunters are anything like deer hunters then they must alsospend the bulk of their day sitting in a tree, armed with a compoundbow, covered in a thick musk of deer urine.Unfortunately, the hunter in this romantic-action-comedy defies allaforementioned huntsman traits–save for the pungent aroma–and, instead,is tracking skillful prey that will test his mettle as well as hismanhood. When broke bounty hunter Milo (Gerald Butler) gets the opportunity tocollect a price on the head of his ex-wife Nicole (Jennifer Aniston),he hopes to stun two birds with one stun gun, i.e. pay off his mountinggambling debts and anger his journalist ex-wife. Unbeknownst to him, however, is the fact that Nicole is actively pursuing leads in ahigh-profile murder case, which means she must avoid jail–and the badguys–long enough to file her incriminating article.A disorientating hodgepodge of action movie machismo andromantic-comedy antagonism, The Bounty Hunter's problematic premise ismade even worse by its lead actors, limp script and lack of ingenuity. As for tracking down ex-wives who fail to appear in court, that's bushleague. Try hunting down ex-husbands who fail to pay child support.(Red Light)

Cute and fun, the perfect easy breezy romantic comedy

The Bounty Hunter is of course a Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butlervehicle but fortunately for the film makers this happens to workabsolutely perfectly for the both of them. The film is not an AcademyAward winner or even an intellectual feat of film making but it isincredibly fun and even more entertaining. If you're looking for theperfect date movie look no further!! Girls will love Aniston's feisty, lovable character, and guys will love Butler's tough as nails lawman. The best is the chemistry between the two of them. They're witty banterand one liners will leave you smiling and anyone can enjoy it! Theattempt at action and an angle of thriller is sort of short sightedbecause it doesn't truly fit into the story but I mean as good as theirchemistry is the film couldn't last the hour a half with just that so Isuppose the mystery aspect of Aniston's character uncovering a murdercover up.Jennifer Aniston has been getting a ton of flack lately. She misused afaux pas word on Regis and Kelly (which for the record I think isridiculously stupid), and her last few films including this one havebeen considered 'unsuccessful' but I think she is a solid leading lady.I haven't really seen her do anything that is a huge stretch of heracting abilities and she is likable on screen and that works well forThe Bounty Hunter. Gerard Butler on the other hand is a great actor. Heis versatile and has done nearly every type of film imaginable and hashad some great roles. This role doesn't require a lot of depth as anactor but he too is incredibly likable on screen and is the perfectchemistry to keep everything moving well. He does outshine Aniston inhis performance but they are both good. Jason Sudeikis is anunfortunate waste in this film. The SNL alumni's role sticks out inthis film and while he plays for slapstick laughs it doesn't reallywork in the movie. Christine Baranski has a good solid supporting roleas Aniston's mother and an over the top drama queen. Honestly the restof the supporting cast while decent in their own right don'tparticularly stand out as grand performances worth mentioning. The filmrests squarely on the main performers. It is almost astonishing to see how many romantic comedies directorAndy Tennant has been behind. Seeing the list starting with the classiccoming of age TV Show The Wonder Years actually makes me think TheBounty Hunter should have had a little more depth but its easy to seeTennant aims for entertainment and he succeeds most times. He's alsoworked with some of the biggest actors in Hollywood so clearly he has atalent for entertainment. Writer Sarah Thorp seems fairly new toHollywood but female writers always seem to have a way of reallyputting some reality to their characters and not making a romanticcomedy quite so weepy as some. All in all I do highly recommendchecking this one out, especially if you're looking for something foryou and your sweetie. The Bounty Hunter is the perfect compromise for adate movie. 8/10

Jennifer Anniston must have lost an amazing bet!!

I can only say that Jennifer Anniston must have the same bet thatDenzel Washington lost to commit to being in Book of Eli. What is itabout this summer and the terrible movies. It's funny that IMDb wants you to check the box if you include aspoiler alert. Here's a spoiler alert, the entire movie is as spoiledas yesterday's garbage.Believe me, this movie will leave you with 2 wasted hours and a loss ofmoney. As for, Gerard Butler, he did okay. Thanks

My 320th Review: Good chemistry, but HORRIBLE script

I'm not an Aniston fan but here she is better than in some of her otherefforts. And her and Butler do have some chemistry, but this would havelooked dated 20 years ago. The plot is straight out of action comediesin the 80s and that's really not a good thing. All in all, it's pretty dire. It will do well at the box office becauseright at this moment there no other comedies around and you can't gowrong aiming for the lowest common denominator. All in all classic DVD bin special that will run and run on repeats;innocuous, boring, and trite - nothing in anyway offensive, expect tosee it on every flight ever soon....

Movie aside, disappointing DVD

I won't go into the film specifics, except to say there's zero chemistry between a watchable "guy's guy" and a woman playing the same sitcom character that she did for 10 years on TV.Now to the DVD. Despite the well-deserved reviews, I bought the DVD hoping for something salvagable. At least a gag reel. Didn't happen. There's only a few extras and they disappoint. The Making Of has very little content about making the film: it's mostly an overlong valentine featuring cast and production staff going on about how "fun," "creative," "talented" and "funny" everyone else is. It's as if they all got handed the same script. The other featurette is about location scouting. Seriously. You can look at it their way: TONS of places! So many places! Or most people's way: New York and Atlantic City. There's a "how to elude bounty hunters" which comprises a very short set of clips, so I'm guessing it was intended as a web ad for the film. And finally there previews for other films that may or not be better than this one. (I skipped it, like I always do.)The full retail price MIGHT have been justifiable had there been good or numerous 'extras.' If you must have it, get it on sale or used.
