As Tarzan and Janes one-year wedding anniversary approaches, Jane searches the jungle for the perfect gift for Tarzan, even enlisting the help of Terk and Tantor. As they recall the many adventures theyve shared so far, Jane realizes what an exciting year its been in the jungle from encounters with old friends, outsmarting panthers to surfing the lava down an erupting volcano. But all of that is nothing compared to the surprise that Tarzan has in store for Jane.

This review is from: Tarzan & Jane (DVD) Good movie with lots of animals that young children and name, funny for adults as well, it also goes well with the other Tarzan movies
It's just for kids. If you are looking for a continuation of the Tarzan movie you may not like this. We bought the original Disney Tarzan animated movie for our kids. The original is great. What this is is three cartoon episodes from the Disney Tarzan television program. The action animation is not nearly as good as in the movie (e.g., the physics of the swinging through the jungle is poor). The plots are terrible/slow/painful. For example, Jane's ditzy girl friends come from London and get chased all day by panthers that never get around to eating them, despite endless chances. It also contains much more gratutious violence. Having said all that, my four year-old seems to like it as well as well as she did the full length animation; thus the third star.
Well, I saw the first movie and I loved it! One of my favorite movies ever! So when this movie came out, Tarzan & Jane, I thought of renting it, so I did. I was so disapointed! I turned the movie off about 5 minutes into the movie. Very poor animation, like cartoon animation. Their voices are way off coarse (exept Tantor's) and Jane is not as charming as she was in the first movie. This movie was okay...It's just...not the good 'ol Disney I expected. How could you, Disney?! >:( (P.S. The shadows of the leaves on evey character was really annoying) ;)
This review is from: Tarzan & Jane (DVD) This movie was absolutely thrilling, good for kids and adults. Simply loved it. The disc picture and sound quality was fabulous. A must see movie.
This was a sad, sad film. This movie was given to me as a gift because I was so enamored with the original. Not only does this not stand up to the original, but it is just a poor film on it's own. The beauty of the animation is gone, the passion is missing, and the story is lack-luster. If you want to find out more about Tarzan, read the Tarzan of the Apes (Signet Classics) books. The first two are wonderful.
This review is from: Tarzan & Jane (DVD) My daughter loved Tarzan, so I bought this DVD. Poor sequel, bad plot, not at all I was expecting. Don't waste your money.
This movie is awful, just awful. Somehow, Disney managed to make a 60minute cartoon with formerly-interesting characters seem like an eternityofdull, directionless garbage. My children (ages 6 and 4) were so boredwatching this that they finally turned off the TV themselves, and they weremesmerized by the original Tarzan movie. I honestly felt like Disney hadstolen my DVD purchase price with this one. I wish I could return it forbeing a horrible movie, but alas, I'm stuck with it. The DVD case is worthmore than the content on the disc. Avoid.
While the original film boasted state-of-the-art graphics, wonderfully lush imagery, a beautifully tragic story, and classic music, this direct-to-video sequel will rank among the worst Disney has produced in the last few years. Told like Cinderella II as a trio of shorts, the story revolves around Jane reflecting on her one-year anniversary with Tarzan.
when i watch this movie it looks interesting and suspence! It makes me wanna cry at the end too even if it is only a cartoons but you could learn a lesson there. And it makes me remind about my parents.... it is a nice movie!!!
If you have seen the television show then you will be familiar with thismovie. All the characters from the television appear in Tarzan and Jane.IMHO this isn't really a sequel to the movie but to the television show.Themovie revolves around flash backs to the past year that Tarzan and Janemetand now. The movie is just a couple brand new television shows puttogetherto make a movie that Disney hopes to make a profit. Even though i did findthe movie enjoyable, i didn't like how it was presented. If you like themorning show, i think you'll also like "Tarzan and Jane"
Ok do not get me wrong the try of doing something like this was in good heart but come on DISNEY COMPANY! YOU RUSHED ANOTHER SEQUEL FOR A QUICK BUCK! The story is very poor! I like this Jane's Voice better than Minnie Driver, her voice is not that annoying. NO MUSIC WHAT SO EVER IN THIS FILM! Only a snip of Two worlds with Mandy More for the Main Title and than a dork Finale song and than the End Title that is it! They took once again 3 stories and made it into a second movie! VERY CRAPY ANIMATION! My 3 year old niece could have drawn better! O, I am sorry, Disney is losing it's touch of magic! I bought this on DVD because I thought at least the extras would have been good but they are even worse! Mandy Moore is in there for a snip and that is it! The sneak peeks were the best from this DVD! Sorry Disney you get a very poor from me and I am very great big Disney Fan!
This review is from: Tarzan & Jane (DVD) the love of Disney is in this movie for all to see if you like action in your cartoons this is the one all kids will love it
Well this movie is a total cheat!! Disney took 20 minute stories that they play on television and linked them together for a quick and easy movie. My kids had already seen most of the stories on the Tazan cartoon. If you don't get the daily cartoon then you may not mind paying for it but since we had already seen them all I thought it wasn't worth the money.
Disney sequels, generally, aren't always as good as the originalmovies. There are, however, some very good sequels such as "The LionKing II," "Lady and the Tramp II," and "Toy Story II." But "Tarzan andJane" is indeed the worst of Disney sequels, where the story was dope, the characters were boring and aren't as lovable as they were in theoriginal movie, the music was awful, and the animation was rubbish. Thestory was simply about Jane wanting to find an anniversary present forTarzan, and while doing so in the jungle, she starts remembering theadventures they've had so far. If Disney continues to produce movieslike this, it will definitely lose its touch and magic. Disney's"Tarzan," though regained its prestige in "Tarzan II," where they did agood job in it.
Granted, the stories were cute, BUT... since my 2 boys (5½ & 4) had already seen them from the cartoon show, we were very disappointed in this DVD. I can't recommend this DVD unless your kids haven't seen the Tarzan cartoon show, as all 3 of the mini-stories in this movie were taken from that. Also, the artwork is NOT Disney quality, it's very low budget artwork/animation. Also, the voices are horrible. I think the only original voice is Tantor's (the elephant). What a waste. I'll be sure to check online reviews before I ever buy another (over-priced) Disney movie. :o(
Unfortunatley, our local video store did not have this video to rent and Blockbuster did have it, but for an arm and a leg. We ended up purchasing it on eBay, which is where *I will be selling it back*. My 5 & 6 year did enjoy the movie, but considering we do not have cable nor an antennae, anything animated on the "TV" is all good in their eyes. My mouth dropped open when I saw the animation on this movie, it reminded me of a TV cartoon, Jane was no longer charming and beautiful, she just seemed different. The voices seemed a little off as well as the rest of the animation. The format was much the same as Cinderella II as she reflects back on the past year, so there was not even a great deal of originality here. I remember Disney movies as a child were classics, but it seems that after Disney died, all they care about is how many movies they can churn out each year without any care for content or quality. I would suggest renting it (cheaply) before buying it, as it is not, in my opinion, collection worthy.
this movie is not that bad. I would give it a 5/10 rating. The one thing that I liked about the movie is that it takes place in the jungle where lots of animals such as cheeths
Okay, truth be told, the movie is pretty much what you'd expect - decent animation and story telling, but not as good as the original feature. The bonus track, however, is probably the coolest bonus track I've ever seen (it's called "Tarzan & Jane's Adventure Builder"). Strange to be saying this about one of Disney's B-titles, but it's true. It's a choose-your-own-adventure type story in which you get to decide what Tarzan should do. There are dozens of choices, and tons of different endings. I've played this track so many times and still can't believe how much new content there is each time. The production value on the bonus track is terrific - a rapid montage of stills that dissolve into each other, narrated by Tantor the elephant, set to a fully scored soundtrack. I hope Disney does more of these.
Tarzan of the ApesGolden FilmsCartoonChildren might enjoy this film. There is lots of singing, but neither the art, singing, plot, nor characters are as much fun as the Disney version. There are small differences in the story line from other films. Lord Greystock and his pregnant wife are set adrift by the sailors on a sinking ship and are washed ashore to the jungle. Tarzan is soon born and his parents die of a jungle fever. An ape raises him as a son. Her other son, his brother, keeps trying to harm him. He is at first not accepted by the other apes, especially the ape leader. Jane and her parents are washed ashore. She and Tarzan start a romance, but she leaves for Baltimore to marry a man who has money because her father needs money.
Tarzan and Jane are back, but it looks like to me, that nobody from thefirst movie that voiced that characters is back. But will we miss the voicesfrom the 1999 movie? Or are we glad that they are not back as the voices? But if you own the orignal movie would you want to pay some money for this,if it's somebody elese in your family that owns it. As, the movie opens, ithas been one year since Tarzan (Michael T. Weiss) has married Jane (Oliviad'Abo), and only Tazan animal pals, Tanor (Jim Cummings), and Terk (AprilWinchell) from the first movie, is back. Jane's father (Jeff Bennett) isstill living with Tarzan and Jane. And Jane is trying to find a way tocelbrate thier one year anniversay. But Tazan's pals remind her out what hashappend to Tarzan to the 3 things that Tarzan has done. If you love thefirst movie then rent or buy this on video and dvd. 10/10
