Based on a dramatic true story of Tiffany Rubin s (Taraji P. Henson) daring 2008 rescue of her seven-year-old son, Kobe, after he was abducted by his biological father and taken from his home in Queens, New York, all the way to Seoul, South Korea. At the urging of her mother Belzora (Beverly Todd), Tiffany sought the counsel of Mark Miller (Terry O Quinn) and his charitable organization, The American Association for Lost Children. With Mark s help, Tiffany was able to travel to Korea to execute a high-stakes plan to bring her son home.

This review is from: Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story (DVD) I didn't get to see this on Lifetime when it aired - so I thought I'd get it for my family that was visiting during the holidays and they really enjoyed it! Taraji is an excellent actress! I was exhausted at the end of the movie so busy rooting for her!!! Great movie!
love it ! one of lifetime best movie. The its a movie about a women in a interracial relationship with a controlling man. They had a kid and when they separate they share custody of they son.Things take a turn when the father take his son to a foreign country without the mother know.
yes it was based on a true story and after the premiere, the real woman had her own program come on after it going into further detail on the experience. must've been an awful nightmare for her! for film viewers, this is the one you should see! taraji does an excellent job portraying a mother trying to get her kid back!
This review is from: Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story (DVD) I SAW THIS MOVIE ON LIFETIME AND DECIDED THAT I HAD TO HAVE IT FOR MY OWN LIBRARY. THE MOVIE WAS VERY EXCITING. TARAJI P. SHOULD HAVE WON AN AWARD FOR HER ROLE !!!
Taranji Henson and the woman portraying her mother give excellentperformances in a true story about a woman's child being kidnapped bythe father.Of course, little is made of the fact that Henson, a look-like forDiana Ross, is a teacher who had a child out of wedlock. How times havechanged! Also missing in the inter-racial angle, not only for the fact that thefather is an Asian person, but that Henson's new husband is white. Thiswas refreshing to see in the film. The film depicts the problems associated with custody and thebureaucratic tape that Rubin faced when the father took the child toSeoul, Korea. Getting the boy back was definitely a harrowingexperience. This was one situation where taking the matters into yourown hands was certainly more than justified.
This review is from: Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story (DVD) It was a good movie, I enjoyed it the ending was as it should have been and I think they are making this a movie for the big screen!
This review is from: Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story (DVD) I really did enjoy this film. The performance given by Hinson was up to the wonderful performances that I have come to expect of her, as well ans seeing one of my old favorites Beverly Todd still doing her wonderful acting. I was kept on the edge of my seat during the whole Korean visit. I have watched it 3 times already and feel certain that I shall watch it again.
This review is from: Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story (DVD) Tried to put myself in that position her faith came through. She had courage, strength and strong determination to get her son back against all odds. Very good movie.
This review is from: Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story (DVD) Since the story was based on true events, I was interested in seeing the potrayals. Taraji P. Henson was amazing in this role.
I can, and have been, critical of Lifetime made-for-TV movies for ripping "based on actual events" cases from the headlines and turning them into rather lurid fodder for fictionalized dramatic recreations. It is one of their go-to genres. Sometimes you don't need all the media hype and sensational coverage to deliver a compelling true life story. And in its simplicity, "Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story" is one of the network's more heartfelt entries into this overstuffed format. Level-headed and real, this accounting benefits from a solidly constructed screenplay and terrifically understated performances. In truth, it may just be the best Lifetime film that I've seen in quite some time. And, in all candor, it is a film that I had almost no interest in seeing! Well, I'm glad I didn't listen to myself--what do I know anyway? The wonderful Taraji P. Henson portrays Rubin. After her ex-husband takes their son for a week long vacation, Rubin becomes alarmed when they seem to fall off the face of the earth. Soon, it is discovered that the pair have fled the country. There seems to be little chance of Rubin even finding her son, much less bringing him home again--and, as you might expect, this is devastating for Rubin and her family. In a grounded story of mother love and perseverance, the boy is located and Rubin is determined that he should be brought home even if that brands her an international criminal. The film adds a couple of unnecessary thriller elements to the concluding chapter for dramatic purposes, but never loses sight of its true strength--it has created real characters that you actually care about! Henson, as I mentioned, is perfect. Strong, believable, and utterly real--I'm putting it out there, I think Henson should be on the shortlist for Emmy nomination consideration. This could have been so hyper-dramatic, histrionic, and overblown--but it remains solidly rooted by natural performances. Beverly Todd as Rubin's mother, David Jones as her current husband, and Terry O'Quinn who specializes in finding missing children are all fantastic--but this is Henson's show! In the end, it's hard not to be moved by this dramatic recreation. With the statistics of custodial kidnappings on the rise, this film expertly highlights one singular case. Solidly satisfying, a definite recommendation. KGHarris, 3/11.
