Overrated

Here are the two biggest reasons this show sucks.1.) The characters. This show is praised for showing brotherly lovebetween the characters of Sam and Dean. While I will admit there isdefinitely a connection between these two characters, it can hardly becalled love. When these two characters aren't hunting demons, they'reconstantly bickering and whining at each other and insulting eachother. This can hardly be called love. I understand that siblingsgenerally do like making fun of each other, but it's usually in jestand in a loving way. These two characters treat each other like garbageand they mean it. So the connection between these two characters sucks. But I bet you're wondering if they're at least good by themselves, aren't you? Nope. They suck by themselves, too.Dean: I'll admit there can sometimes be some charm to a womanizing maincharacter, but not when the character is constantly making jarringlyunfunny sex jokes and going around doing it with every girl he meets. If this character maybe had some sort of, I don't know... what do youcall it... HEART? He might be a little likable. But he's basically justa womanizing slut with no regard for anyone's feelings unless it's ahot chick with big boobs and blond hair. You'd think he'd really careabout his little brother and want to protect him no matter what, butall he wants to do is make his little brother just as big a slut as heis.Sam: Well. At least this character isn't SUCH a slut. He's gotsomething of a heart, at least. But the problem with this character isthat all he does is bitch and moan about how he wanted a normal life, and how his girlfriend died. Now, we can all sympathize with a dude wholost his girlfriend, and who wants to live a peaceful life, as long ashe eventually stops complaining and becomes a stronger person. Samnever does. In fact, Sam even turns bad for awhile, which really makeshis character plummet. Now there can be a certain interesting edge whenyour character have some flaws to them. But not to the point whereevery single one of them is an asshole. That's just unrealistic and itmakes your characters unlikable to boot. Also, it's totally stupid howthis character has DEMON BLOOD in him. Do you know how stupid thatsounds? Other characters: Now, like in a lot of shows, the two brotherscross random people each day and help them purge evil demons from theirhouses. But all the people they meet are usually ALL THE SAME TYPE OFPERSON. They're all girls who are gorgeous and have blond hair. I swearthey didn't save a single fat person in that show. All of the girlshave the same type of personality, too. And the demons they encounterare all the same, too. They all have that same slutty personality andthey're not even scary like they're supposed to be. There's always astupid girl demon who comes onto Sam or Dean and tries to sensuallymake some stupid deal with them to bring back their dad. Even the maledemons act like this. Even LUCIFER acts like this. The only likablecharacter in this show is probably Bobby. He's a nice old man whoactually cares about Sam and Dean and treats them decently. Also, eventhe angels are slutty and assholes. Yeah. It's pretty messed up.2.) The story. The story in this had potential to be quite charming, but it even fails there. The biggest problem with the story is thepervading feeling of hopelessness. It just leaves you with a sad, icky, tired feeling after each episode. Because all of the characters areseverely unlikable, and no one in this show can really be considered agood person, it just kind of like... yeah the world might end, butmaybe it's for the best if every person in Heaven, Hell, and on Earthare assholes. Another problem with the story is that they ALWAYS havestupid hypothetical episodes about Sam and Dean's ideal lives. Now, oneof these types of episodes is okay, and can even be quite interesting, but when it happens, like, more than ten times, it can become reallyannoying.

Supernatural: Sometimes Hits, Sometimes Misses

As a potential fan of shows like this,... I was drawn to Supernaturalsince its inception. At first - I didn't love it,... but I sure wasinterested, and watched every week. From the start,... I noticed itsmany positive qualities, as well as its downfalls. Its basic formula isfine - a small cast of two capable actors, guest-stars galore, grippingmonster battles, cool mythological info, effective drama & scares, gritty & brooding production and good FX. Its bad qualities (that stilloccur) are; repetitive stories, corny dialogue, lame generic rocksoundtracks, too much corny humor, terrible episode names and sometimeshollow characters. And then came the following turning point for theshow. It started as a dark show about brothers, monsters, good, evil andmyths. The earlier seasons consisted of a catalog of urban andhistorical myths - battling vampires, odd monsters, the ever-populardemons, among others (even a genie!). But recently,... Supernatural andits writers have shifted focus to religion,... well,... justChristianity. Maybe they felt they had exhausted all monsterpossibilities (they didn't). So now,... one of the greatest myths getsexplored every episode on Supernatural – rife with angels, thestill-popular demons, possessions, God, Satan and faith. It wouldn't beso bad,... except it's a clear veer from the show's original course, itstill gets extremely repetitive, it probably alienated fans and itoffers religious bias by accepting only Christianity.Overall,... Supernatural is a show of great potential, talentedproduction and good drama,... but it does have its share of faults.I'll keep on watching.

Supernatural Super Cool

This show is excellent it has all the right elements, humor, drama, horror, great music, an excellent script and the best cast and crew youcould hope for. It's doesn't become boring since there is always new elements to addin, if your a fan of the supernatural, of urban legends this show isgoing to just right for you.Now the acting is superb, the actors really seem to know what the'redoing and they really get in touch with the characters they areportraying, so you don't have to worry about bad acting. The crew, writers, director, producers, etc. have really done theirhomework so you don't get these half baked plots, instead you get thefull experience of what these things that the brothers hunt are likeand what are they do to defeat the, and it also makes sense so you'renot left in the clouds wondering "what just happened".All in all the show is great, the acting is great, the music isawesome, and the special effects woo out of this world.

The dead should stay dead - didn't you see Pet Sematary?

After witnessing the death of their mother by paranormal means, (shewas sucked up into the ceiling and then burst into flames) twobrothers, Sam and Dean, travel all over America to avenge her death. They hunt demons, ghosts and whatever else they can find in the hopethat they will eventually capture and kill the demon responsible fortheir mother's demise.Supernatural is one of the shows that is destined to follow in thefootsteps of Buffy and X files, becoming a truly great dark fictionseries. Season Two opens following the explosive Season One Finale. TheWinchesters (Sam, Dean and their father John) are all in hospitalrecovering from a violent car crash. Sam and John are recovering well;however, Dean awakens only to find that he is having an out of bodyexperience and is likely to die. Never fear, Dad comes to the rescueand makes a deal with someone that you should never make deals with(did the story of Faust teach us nothing).John Winchester exchanges his life for Dean's and with his last breathwhispers into Dean's ear that someday he may have to kill his brotherbecause Sam has a destiny that definitely will be tainted withdarkness. As the two brothers try to figure out what will happen to Samand if they can stop it, they embark on a series of scary, humorous andentertaining adventures. Armed with shotguns filled with rock salt theyencounter everything from Psycho Carnies in Clown Suits to Dead chicksthat can run.In the first part of Season Two we meet a few new characters, the bestof which is Ash, a redneck MIT dropout who is all business up front anda party in the back. I hope that he will become a series regular, as heis a witty and welcome addition to the cast. We also learn a bit moreabout Sam's destiny as the first part of Season Two is full ofintriguing hints about revelations to come. The first Season of Supernatural was a great watch and the first partof Season Two does not disappoint. Therefore, if you love programmesthat are filled with movie references and story lines that are steepedin myth and legend, you will love Supernatural.

This is the BEST show EVER

This is the BEST show I've ever seen. Its the only one i rush home forand refuse to miss. The storyline and what they do is awesome. I mean, killing demons and poltergeists and all sorts of other evil creaturesand things and the methods they use for destroying them like the demoncircles and the exorcists and burning the bones and things. And youcant forget their cool weapons and things that they use to keep thespirits away. The ride is pretty sweet too. It has to be the coolestcar on television. And you cant leave out those two guys. Super hot andsexy and the attitudes that they have make them the perfect pair. Anddid i mention they were HOT? But even without them it would still be afreakin good show. Its definitely the best

kitanamileenaninja 2012-05-22 16:13:37

Massively overrated - by the FANS

1. Good looking regulars 2. Action 3. Mild horror4. A script that isn't completely idiotic Add these together and you have a decent show. However it is not "thebest show ever". In many ways it is desperately dull and unoriginal. The fans who drone on and on about how 'deep' and 'underrated' it is,or how well-written ... please get a clue. Step back and take a look.Stop drooling over Jensen and Jared and really take a look at the show. Now think about how far TV SF/Fantasy has fallen for this to beconsidered by some as "the best." "Supernatural" is mildlyentertaining, with added eye candy. Nothing more.

tortugaeva 2012-05-22 05:01:00

Fantastic!

I absolutely love this show! The dark colors and the use of real mythsand legends, teamed with brilliantly talented actors who are absolutelygorgeous too... pure genius. Although our episodes are quite behindhere is Australia - about 8 episodes i think (because apparently mybirthday isn't special enough for my favorite show to air) i still feelconnected, and trying to figure out what happens next. I don't want toread spoilers for this, as the anticipation of each episode alonedrives me insane, and there's nothing better than the feeling ofwatching supernatural.did that make any sense?

Unexpected Awesomeness

I finally decided to check out this show because people had beentelling me to watch it for a while. I'm a huge fan of Buffy, as well asthe X-Files. I was a little worried about the 2 male leads because Itend to favor strong female leads, and when you get 2 males togetherthere is potential for rampant sexism. Well, I can tell you now, I hadnothing to worry about. This is one of the best series I've ever seen. This is an exciting, suspenseful show about 2 brothers who were raisedas demon hunters, and are on a search to find their father who goesmissing during a "hunting" trip. The characters of Sam and Dean may bejust a bit shaky at first, but now in the series 7th season, they havedeveloped wonderfully. If you are a fan of supernatural dramas such as Buffy, Angel, Reaper,The X-Files and/or Charmed, you will fall in love with this show.

noname0302 2012-05-20 16:25:00

it depends

The way you will see this TV show depends much from you'reexpectations. If you expect it to be scary, you better not waste you'retime with it, you wont like it at all. I saw a lot of horror film andprobably less then a dozen of then were scary even if they all tried. This is no exception, but the difference between the wanttobescarymovies and Supernatural is that Supernatural isn't made to be scary. Its made to be entertaining and funny. All the episodes are based onbooks, movies, myths, so don't even expect it to be original. Its morelike a big story-book with a background story and a lot of myths. Allof the episodes are entertaining, and thats all that a TV show needs.Thats there only mission:entertainment.10/10

Supernatural review

I've only watched a few episodes, but this show shouldn't bedisregarded as just another WB made-for-teen shows. Yeah it actuallymakes sense most of the time. The plot isn't stupid or completelyoutrageous and makes you want to barf all over the carpet. Sure the twomain characters are extremely good looking, but the characters (whilethey might be a bit stereotyped) are interesting and fun to watch whenthey have the brother bickering going on. It has some great linestoo...at least I laughed. It has some scary moments, some suspensefulones and some just really f-ing cool ones.Yeah I definitively recommend it. It sure ain't "normal" teen show andthank the heavens for that. The only thing i'm worried about is if theytry and make the show more appealing to the more shallow and weaklittle girls of our generation. I'm soooo f-ing tired of all theseMary-Sue like chick personas with flat stomachs and just begging forpeople to save them.I must admit the show is flawed in many ways, but the flaws aren't soapparent and the show is still excellent even with them. You! Go watch SupernaturaL RIGHT NOW!

One of the Best Shows out There

I didn't watch Supernatural at first. I dismissed it as yet another WBseries; a show that would be decent, but unexceptional. That, friends, was a huge mistake. Supernatural is not just exceptional, but isprobably one of the best shows out there. The world of the series is our own, just a little darker. Ghosts,life-draining monsters and all manner of aberrant horrors lurk in theshadows, and the weapons we know are useless against them. Enter theWinchester brothers: Dean and Sam. They travel the country, huntingdown the paranormal horrors that decimated their family twenty-twoyears ago, and hoping to spare others the same tragedy.Every episode is mysterious and suspenseful, and the scripts arewell-written and thought-out. However, the best attribute of the seriesby far is the back-and-forth between the two stars. Ackles andPadalecki have the kind of chemistry that siblings everywhere willrecognize. They trade one-liners during their adventures, arguefiercely at times, and are willing to do anything to protect eachother. The special effects, set design and (as I mentioned before) writing areall top notch, the creatures are frightening and brilliantlyaccomplished, and the laid-back attitude of the two heroes keeps youamused throughout the show. The only thing that kept me from awardingthe series 10 out of 10 is that the darker tone of some of the episodessometimes takes away from the characters just being brothers. Thathaving been said, 9 out of 10 ain't bad at all. Supernatural is wellworth your viewing time.

Guys can watch this-- The writers are talking to us

When I first heard of Supernatural-- I panned it because the firstcouple of reviews here on IMDb were from women squealing how HOT theco-stars were. And oh, the stories were good-- and Dean was HOT. Andthe dialogue was great and Sam was HOT HOT HOT.Being that as a Guy I wasn't interested in shows that profiled "hot"guys-- and I am ashamed to say that the squeals about HOT made meerroneously think that the female posters were ignoring the showcontent and judging the show with excess estrogen levels-- I passed itover. Then I downloaded an episode from iTunes and was utterly surprised.One-- the Special effects are superbly toned.Two-- When the episode goes for 'Creepifying' they hit it dead on. Three-- when the episode is serious-- it's like a miniature CreatureFeatures (Anyone remember that?)Four-- When the episode was a little tongue in cheek-- I almost expectto see the Crypt Keeper cackling in the background.FIVE-- Until this point-- I had not realized how well the two co-starswent together. This was a show about Two Guys. They're Brothers. They're Family. They don't always Like Each other. And they deal withemotional issues, physical issues, political issues like Guyz.Sometimes they resolve issues by Decking each other, and YES Ladies, itmakes sense. And it's not always a joke-- it's a resolution. If youdon't have the hormones or a brother, I can't explain it to you.The show isn't being artificially cluttered up with non-stop soppytalky-talky female lovey-dovey please-hold-me-I'm-Cold infatuation. Inthe first season-- the purpose of the woman in the episodes was toSCREAM. And SCREAM. And SCREAM. I loved it! But then, I'm a Guy.

awesome

I think it is a awesome show, I watch it ever Thursday, the fact Samand his father have both being possessed make it all the more excitingand it's really getting good. I love this show, and if you like scarymovie that make a thousand turns than you will like the movie CRY WOLFSam plays in it to.Super natural is not just about hunting and killingdemons,it's about finding out about whats going to happen to Sam andand how he blames him self ever time he can't save someone and startsto beat himself up.Dean on the other hand (who is the older brother andshorter one)who is trying his hardest to protected Sam without havingto fallow his dads orders of killing Sam (if he can't save him).

kezza87 2012-05-14 06:48:48

Awesome Show!!!!

I have watched this show from the Pilot episode....and am stillhooked!!!...this is without doubt the only show that has made me tunein each week and still 4 years down the line am I still hooked!!!! Each season finale tops the previous and leaves you wanting more!!! NowI am not usually a fan of this kinda genre, but you can't help but lovethis show...from the brothers chemistry and banter, witty lines tointriguing story lines!! Although the show kinda started off with monsters of the week, they dohave continual plots and the show is realistic (to a sense) tointerpret the brothers emotions to current situations instead of themforgetting about it the following week (a pet hate of mine of othershows) If you are new to the show I would definitely suggest watching rightfrom the beginning, not only to follow the brothers story, but to alsosee how Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles' acting abilities have grownfrom strength to strength...they deserve all the credit along with thewriters and production team on this fantastic show...if rumours aretrue that season 5 is the last...then I have every faith it will end ona high and will be a classic!!!!!

The X-Files of the New Millennium

What can I say about Supernatural? It's The X-Files of the newmillennium. The show, suffice to say, is about two brothers. Sam andDean Winchester, (think of the repeating rifle,) lost their mother whenthey were little. Whatever killed her, pinned her to the ceiling like amoth or butterfly to a piece of cardboard. Their father became obsessedfinding the creature. Then it jumped to Stanford University. Sam'splanning on entering Stanford law school when his brother Dean, (anhomage to Jared Padalecki's previous role on Gilmore Girls, perhaps?)shows up and tells him that their father's missing. Sam's shocked. "Dadlet you go on a hunting trip alone?" "Dude, I'm 26." What made think ofThe X-Files was the storyline. Supernatural takes its stories fromurban legends like the woman in white. That's a retelling of thespectral hitchhiker, usually a girl of about sixteen or seventeen, whoappears on the side of the road asking passing drivers to take herhome. When the drivers ask her where she lives, she says at the end ofa road. The girl's looking for her mother. So when the driver, usuallya trucker, goes to the mother's door to tell her that her daughter's inthe truck, the mother says something like: "Mister, Sarah died tenyears ago. She's buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery." Like the otherreviewer, I can't wait for more. What happened to Sam's girlfriend? I'mnot telling. See for yourself tomorrow night. It's going to be repeatedthen.

Naturally Super!!

Not only have I watched all six seasons and caught myself up because Iremember watching the first episode when the show premiered....thinking back.... why did I never get into that show? The very firstepisode stuck with me long enough for me to get myself enthralled withSupernatural!Don't be fooled by the CWTV title... this show has promised action, drama and comedy from the very beginning!Of course, the choice of Jensen and Jared to look at every week was akeen choice of cast! Every show has something new, and when it's notthe first supernatural entity is creepier than the last!Sam and Dean are awesome... keep the episode coming Bobby Singer andSera Gamble!!

boo_4ever 2012-05-12 11:39:23

Supergood naturally

Supernatural is gonna draw the obvious X Files comparisons so we mightas well get them out of the way now. Its stars are an intrepid duo whotravel across America encountering all manner of paranormal phenomenaand mythological creatures. It has a lot of ex-files staff too which isapparent if you have watch both shows pretty closely.Supernatural isn't as smart as The X Files , nor is it as cleverlywritten. The X Files was ahead of the time in many ways and is stillunique in others, in that it was a mature drama which took its subjectmatter very seriously. It managed to blend sci fi and the paranormalskillfully so that you almost didn't notice the seams. Supernatural ina way is like The X Files - lite. It knows what it is and I think is amore focused show then its predecessor. From the get go it lays it outto you that it is situated in a world where ghosts, demons and witchesreally do exist. Once that is established its on with the show andthere is no looking back whereas the X Files constantly had the viewerquestioning and thinking about what he was seeing and hearing. WhereThe X Files was the thinking mans science paper, Supernatural is a campfire ghost story.Which is more then fine by me. As a lover of ghost stories myselfSupernatural makes for fantastic viewing. Its strongest points are itsatmosphere and visual imagery. The storyline surrounding the brothersrelationship to their father and to each other is in its fledglingstages and will no doubt become stronger over time. Already though itis fun to watch the interplay between Dean and Sam. being the olderbrother in a family of two myself I find myself sympathising with Dean. Not just because of that but also because I find his personalitysomething I can relate to. His is very Mulder-like in his oftenwhimsical approach to situations. The other brother Sam I finddownright annoying at times with the overplayed teen angst. As for the story lines themselves this is Supernaturals weakest point. So far in the first series Supernatural has a basic structure whichrarely changes - brothers drive into town, weird things (usuallydeaths) happen, brothers use fake ID's to find out about the demon /witch / ghost just in time to save the Hot Chick of the Week(tm) wash, rinse, repeat. If it continues Supernatural is in danger of burning outreal fast. However in latter episodes there looks to be some sort ofmythology developing which should hopefully complicate things. Thefathers connection to their mothers death, Sams visions, the Meg demonetc.Having just criticised the story lines I have to admit I love theirthemes. Each week focuses on a different legend such as the woman inwhite, bloody mary, vampires etc. Each handled very well and with asurprising amount of knowledge. You can tell that ghost story tellingis a real labour of love for the creators. It also introduces a lot oflesser known legends such as the wendigo, shrika etc. Someone is doingtheir homework and I cant wait to see what creatures appear in laterepisodes. The references to other supernatural shows such as the xfiles and ghostbusters is an added treat for fans of the genre. As isthe classic rock soundtrack. My god someone has taste. Its like theyreached into my mind and put down all my favourite past times oncelluloid. Well the ones that can be viewed by under 18's anyway. Iwouldn't say Supernatural has "made scary sexy". I would say its madescary cool again. If only I could be cool again too. Maybe I would beif I had a Chevy Impala too.All in all an excellent new series dripping with humour, atmosphere andchills. Here's to series two!

You gotta love the X-FIle writers

I watched this show for 2 reason Jensen Ackles and the fact that it iswritten by the same folks who wrote X-files. I watched X-Files until itended and the scripts in this show are just as well written and all 3male leads are very attractive. The shows are fast paced and have justenough actual supernatural background to give it that intellectualtwist. I hope this show lasts half as long as the files did. The onlyproblem we ever had with the X-FIles is the sub plot with the cigarettesmoking man, there for season or two that was all you heard about. Itis OK to bring it up once every 3 or 4 episodes but the harping on theconspiracy got a little old. Let's hope they keep up the good work withthis show and give us lots of good of good scares. All we can say is sofar so good

Something you don't see everyday

It's one of those series that splits apart from all the stuff you seeeveryday on TV. When I first started watching it I thought: "cool someparanormal stuff" but as the story continues you get sucked into it.Most episodes tell a story of their own, almost all of those areenjoyable and provide a little diversion from the main storyline, butultimately you'll recognize that the the main plot is not justdecoration but the driving force behind actions. And that plot willmake you addicted to it, even though it loses a little of it's thrillin the second season. The characters are mysterious and always appearto hide something from each other, but they are well played andtrustworthy. Free up your Thursday evening and watch Supernatural, beforehand you should grab the DVD of the first season to apply to themain plot, and get to know the characters. 8 out of 10 because thereare little ways to spend a better Thursday evening then watchingSupernatural.
