We have taken some photos of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season Four". They represent actual movie quality.
Why is season II story so immature compared to season I???!!!! All theJedi are arrogant, whiny & lousy in their judgments. Is it how theyshow the Jedi are loosing their touch to the Force?! Or George bushwrote the scripts this season? Hmm...* 2 Master Jedi can't stop a bounty hunter break into their temple &let him stole the listing; 2 Jedi can't handle droids .... * "He gotaway again?" ... "The important thing is ... " Doesn't it sound likesome sci-fi politician shenanigans? The story is as immature as some afternoon soap operas. Plz don't screwthis up like the 2003 series again.Crossing my fingers that the following episodes won't be stinky b/c Ilike this series very much so far.I like what the episode 3 lies ahead - Lord Sithus trying to bring upyoung lings ... HM... maybe they can write some scripts to shed somelights to the dark side... Why so few of them and they broke the Jediorder so successfully?!
It started out with the movie which I wasn't impressed with accept forthe animation and Ventress was in it. On October 3rd I didn't think therest of The Clone Wars story would be anything special now I know I waswrong. If your a fan of Star Wars and you appreciate the prequels thengive Clone Wars a shot. Some episodes our just about clones I know thatdoesn't sound very good but it is actually just as entertaining as therest of the episodes. Star Wars The Clone Wars is a great TV show andif you are a Star Wars fan and are not watching it. I strongly suggestyou do cause it might make time go by while waiting for the live actionseries. And also if you have not already check out Star Wars The ForceUnleashed.
Even though I love Star wars, and the effort Lucas Arts are doing toclarify how the Clone wars took place, I can't help noticing how badlywritten the plot is, the dialog and mental abilities of the characters.Instead of making the plot interesting and unpredictable, and thushaving the characters in the show actually have a challenge on theirhands, the writers seem to have chosen to dumb down the charactersdeductive reasoning, at times to such a low level that I just skippedthe particular show, just so that the episode's plot could go on. Thereis no reason why this had to be done. This is just sloppy and lazywriting. On the visual side the show is very pleasing to the eye. Almost everyshow has space battles and planet side scenes in equal measure and Ithink I can honestly say that I've never seen the same scene used twiceas often happens in animation. And there are always new locations beingdepicted. The voice acting is also superb. All in all it is OK but the bad writing keeps me from giving it morethen 5 stars.
...but what it doesn't have is a clear target age group. The Clone WarsTV series is a very mixed experience that started out with a bearablestoryline, and the first seasons were overall quite watchable (muchunless the awful 2008 movie with the same title). Some episodes are surprisingly dark and gritty, especially during thethird season, and I wouldn't recommend them for children under 13.Plenty of clone troopers and Jedi die in epic battle scenes, prisonersof war are brutally tortured in Imperial compounds, and the DathomirianNightsisters brainwash a new Sith apprentice into a ruthless killingmachine who slaughters his own brothers. So much for the good news. Alas, every other episode is clearlytargeted at a very young audience. These more infantile episodes feellike a completely different TV show that should have been called "TheNew Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO" or "The Jar Jar Binks Show". The current fourth season is especially infantile and uninspired toboot. If I had written this review while I was watching season three, Iwould have given the show a seven star rating, but the recent episodeswere an insult for Star Wars fans of all ages. The newly introducedalien species look and act like smurfs and muppets, and the writershave resorted to ripping off old Star Trek TOS episodes and dumbingthem down for children.Bottom line: Unless Lucasfilm Animation manages to turn this seriesaround and make it watchable for all ages again, hardcore Star Warsfans might want to buy season 1-3 on DVD and skip the rest. Even then, adult and teenage fans will often find themselves wondering why they'rewatching an obvious kid's program.
This is not the first Clone Wars series made by Lucas. He made one in2003-05 with Cartoon Network and it was better than this. For onething, it aired BEFORE Star Wars 3. Back then only Anakin, Yoda andKenobi were immortal and there was some suspense. And the series wasreally short. The only reason a remake could work is because Clone Wars takes upyears of time and you can pretty much scribble any war story into it.The graphics changed to 3D to make scenes more detailed with lesseffort, but that's the only improvement.I sometimes argue with the start quotes black and whitenarrow-mindedness. Hearing the narrator form the Powerpuff girls saysomething irrelevant or what we already know is irritating every timethe episode starts. They made clones more humane and unique, and now Ifail to see how order 66 will make sense (infact it will traumatizekids). R2 makes swiss army knife look like a bobby pin. Droids "Roger.Roger." is now out of faze with the rest of their speech, andpersonally they speak too much. Cannon fodder aim and armor are asuseless as they ever were. Many soldiers (droid and clone) have delayedreaction before firing or running for cover. The way they fire at closerange is as if they try to NOT hit the enemy. Hell, they can't even hita slow battleship with another ships laser battery. What got me was in the 2003 series general Grievous truly terrifiedwith his first appearance, slaughtering a platoon of Jedi and leavingit in a cliffhanger. In fact Grievous could easily battle 2-3 Jedi atonce going in at full power, never retreated, and his cough wasmentally inflicted in the end of the series and right before SW3. Herehe looks like a parody of a cowardly redneck with a scary bark whocan't beat one kid with a sward. I used to love Grievous combatsuperiority, but now he is mush.Honestly, republic swordsmen and separatist bankers make poorstrategists, and it's clearly shown here. They slaughter theirresources in head-to-head battles and then whine why they don't win.Lucas sacked his original adult fans to get a younger audience, but helooks like a grandpa trying to be cool, and became even lamer thanbefore. There was even "parental guidance advised" (in a kids show?),yet no major change was visible. It's about time Lucas retired.
I am a star wars enthusiast and I have watched the episodes unfold overtime. I 've seen 'Star Wars : Clone Wars (2003)' the series and I thinkit was pretty good except for the fact that Jedi were shown morepowerful that whats indicated in the movies.I've seen just the first 3 episodes of this series and I already thinkthat the acting is poor. There is just not enough new tech stuff in theseries. The feeling you get when you watch blasters for the first timeis just not there. There are no new concepts explored which make thisseries kinda dull. The story line so far has no suspense which I find essential to make agood story. Everything that makes a series click is missing but being astar wars fan with nothing better to do I'm gonna watch this seriesanyway.I hope the series gives us a insight into how the clone army wascreated since as a viewer I am not clear as to how Master Syphadious'name gets involved into the affair. Also a background of general Grievous, Count Dooku and Palpatine andsome other relevant characters would be nice. But I doubt it if thisfits the scope of the series. We never get to see how Dooku and thelikes of his get converted to the dark side.I would like better if the series drew from actual life experiences inthe future and created exciting scenarios. I've heard a few reviews saythat it gets better as it progresses and I hope they are right.
After hearing some of the reviews/ comments about the movie (which ihave not seen) i was not looking forward to this at all.....However i really enjoyed the first two episodes of the TV show. Theaction is dynamic, the characters seem well thought out (i wasparticularly pleased to see the return of the more eccentric Yoda weknow and love from ESB in the first episode) and some of the set piecesare really good...although the battle droids are even more annoyingthan before (if that were possible)..In short, far from the disaster I was anticipating and a worthyaddition to the Star Wars canon...
I've been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid, but I have to admit that Ihad been getting kind of sick of Star Wars in the past decade. Thoughgood movies for the most part, I was kind of disappointed by theprequel trilogy, and felt that there were too many games, books, andother EU things out there to keep me as engaged in the universe as Iused to be when I was a kid. The story, I felt, had become tooconvoluted, and I didn't feel like I was a "fan" of star wars anymore.Maybe I grew out of it.Nevertheless, I decided to netflix the clone wars movie and subsequentTV series to give star wars another shot since I enjoyed the original2003 clone wars cartoons. I have to admit, the show is really growingon me. I wasn't too hot on the clone wars movie, but the show isactually really good. The characters are likable, and the story linesare entertaining. Anakin is actually really cool in this, more likablethan he is in the films, and I like Ahsoka and even Jar Jar comes off alot better in this (although I never really had a problem with him tobegin with). The only problem I have with it is Obi Wan. He comes offas way too smug, I think, I really don't like his voice. McGreggorpulled it off his personality much better in the movies. Still, it'snot a major complaint, especially since it kind of makes Anakin morelikable, since they're always arguing, but it does get kind ofannoying.I've just finished the first season and I'm looking forward to grabbingthe second when it becomes available on netflix, but I'm wondering, canI start watching the third season without seeing the second? Or willtoo much get spoiled.
I'm a big star wars fan so i wanted to check this series. I could tellthat it' pretty good. I mean of course i find droids conversationsridiculous, and immortality of few jedi's but in the end it's show forkids, so i guess it must be done that way. Personally the best thing inshow are characters. Now we can see the wisdom of yoda (not in movieswhere he was just an action figure) and other jedi's, they finallyintroduce us with characters in SW prequels and show us theydevelopment. There are lot bad and good things about this show, there isno point of writing them all here. Just watch it by yourselves and thenyou will decide if it's a good or a bad show.
I really enjoyed watching the first season of this show. Initially, Ihad low expectations for it when it first aired here in Canada (becauseof the movie). I was pleased to see that it had a stable story line and everything anyStar Wars related story should have. Sith, Jedi, aliens, droids, GOODdialog (great relief), characters you could relate to. It was not really like the originals, of course, and the aura ofsomething different can anger people. But I think this series had adifferent approach. This series is welcomed by fans with open armsbecause it had the unique ability to entertain those who have loved SWsince 1977, and those who are new fans to the story.I look forward to seeing this series go through its course, and I lookforward to seeing the SW galaxy expand.
The Clone Wars is a new TV show that is set in the Star Wars universebetween Episode 2 and Episode 3 of the Star Wars saga. I saw this showas soon as it premiered in Canada and I was impressed with some partsof the show and also not impressed. I loved the animation design of thewhole atmosphere of the galaxy and the design of all the characters. Itwas colorful and very creative just like you'd see in every Star Warsmovie. I also enjoyed the voice acting even though most of the mainactors in the live action movies never returned. The dialogue atsometimes was a bit cheesy at times and the way some of the droidstalked was just plain stupid and it could annoy many fans. Besides thatthough the other actors are very good voice actors. The things I was not impressed with the series is how the great JohnWilliams didn't return to do the music and also I found the plotoutline a bit weak. Without John Williams, fans will recognize changesin the music that are not anything like the music you'd hear in any ofthe 6 Star Wars films. Also, I can't say I hated the plot but I can sayI didn't think it was great. I found it a bit childish but really whatdoes it matter, this show is meant for kids!Anyways overall I did enjoy The Clone Wars and I'm glad to say I willcontinue watching it every Friday night it's on. I recommend this TVshow to Star Wars fans who want to experience the Star Wars universeand also to kids. If someone is starting to watch the Star Wars moviesI don't recommend watching this first. I recommend that they watch thelive action films so they can get a key idea of what Star Wars is like.My rating: 7 out of 10
What can you say about "The Clone Wars"? Well as many of you alreadyhave said it's a way for the franchise to pick up some new fans fromthe younger viewers. As for me, being the age that I saw ESB and ROTJwhen they first premiered at the cinemas, it found the series...en-joyful. If you are a real star wars fan and are thirsting for moreabout the universe and, as I have, read all the books from the expandeduniverse (ofcourse not the young jedi ones and well, fell asleep aftervector prime but anyway back on track)you will like this, maby not inthe beginning, I know the voices are not the real ones and jada jada.Just sit back relax and think that this is STAR WARS, it's not supposedto be a "sundance winning indie" it't franchise and we LOVE IT.
Like many others, I saw the world premiere of Clone Wars on CartoonNetwork, and I have to say, I was very impressed. George Lucas has doneit again! Now I actually have something to look forward to on Fridaynights. The characters act pretty much act like they do in the movies, all the voices sound great, the animation is amazing, and the episodesactually have a plot! I will agree, however, that I don't think it wasquite necessary for Lucasfilm to release a movie version just for thesake of promoting the television show. I hear that they're making atleast a hundred episodes or more, so hopefully they'll live up to thefirst two. A job well done all around.
My whole family is watching this series! Some people say that Anakin'spadawan is annoying. IMHO, Ahsoka is at least less annoying andcliché-like than Padmé and they needed a female character who is in themiddle of the war. However, i'm curious about her disappearance later.(I'm afraid that Dooku will kill her). It would've been harder to keepPadmé alive during the missions. The series itself resembles to theStarship Troopers one (my old favorite), we can feel Order 66 morecruel and hate Palpatine much more if we compare those scenes with thetroopers nursing the little twi'lek girl at Ryloth and seeing AaylaSecura rescuing Bly, the clone who later kills her. Not perfect, butthe best for SW-series. Some answers for the critics:Movie_Reviever123: Palpatine WAS the leader of CIS, but in those times, officially, he was the leader of the republic army. I'm pretty surethat he gave commands to his CIS commanders, but because of his status,he couldn't command the CIS personally. The clone warriors DO die manytimes and Anakin IS vulnerable (He wasn't in the best shape after thatcrash-landing). And please forgive them they don't kill theirprotagonists. And the whole stuff is cartoon-ish. Why must Yoda be anexception? Andariel Halo: Bro, this is Clone WARS! There is less timefor love, so IMO the sophisticated romantic scenes would be odd here.Only masters can train jedi? Obi-Wan was barely a jedi knight when hestarted the training of Anakin! Master refers to the leaders of thejedi order (like Yoda or Mace Windu) and a name that padawans use fortheir umm... master. But that's not their official title, sometimesthey are just knights. Gregory, at least you've got some points: theclash of R2-D2 and R3-S6 was indeed ridiculous and i feel sorry for thedroids created too clumsy. But Grievous is acting normally. Neither Iwould start a fight against an infamous enemy without learning hismovements in some quick ambush-retreats. This series is good forfilling some plot holes of the whole history and a fun to watch! I Justcan't Get enough of it!
Despite being a Star Wars fan, I can easily say this and the other StarWars: The Clone Wars animated movie upon which this is based are justplain terrible. The story lines are generic with no creativity. Thecartoon never mentions anything about the Clone Wars era itself, suchas the underlying evil of the Republic or the fact that the CIS wasn'tled by Grievous or Dooku, but was led by Sidious (Palpatine), so therereally isn't much of a connection to this and the the actual movie (thelive-action one, not the animated one). The battles in this show rangefrom stupid to horrendous. One Clone trooper apparently can slaughter1500 Battle Droids with relative ease, and all the droids really do ismake some kind of idiotic self-insult about their own stupidity. Evenwhen they do try to kill the clones, they rarely hit anything:Imagine if a platoon of 500 droids stood 1 foot away from the side of abarn, and if they fired for 15 minutes straight with their regularblaster rifles with the accuracy they're shown as having in the show, they wouldn't have hit the barn a single time. It'd take them 45minutes to hit the side of the barn, and that'd only be 1 hit; that'show bad their accuracy is shown as in the show.Anakin is shown as an immortal being, capable of destroying millions ofenemies without taking a scratch. Obi-Wan rarely plays any importantroles in the series, and for some inexplicable reason, he's alwayswearing Clone shoulder armor. Yoda looks ridiculous; his eyes aregigantic and he's even shorter than he is in the movie. The music isdecent.All-in-all, the show is nothing but overrated garbage. Star Wars fanswill be disappointed with the show, and non-Star Wars fans will utterlydespise it.
I was apprehensive about seeing the Clone Wars movie, but after itpleasantly surprised me, I was definitely looking forward to this TVshow. After watching the first two episodes aired tonight on CartoonNetwork, I can safely say my anticipation was rewarded. Judging by these two episodes, I can see that a lot of work has beenput into this series, and it's not just something for the kiddies towatch. It was watching a mix of the humanity of original trilogy withthe action of the new trilogy. It's a great show, and definitely wortha watch for Star Wars fans of all ages. Just give it a try, you'rebound to love it.
Being a great fan of George Lucas's epic space opera series, it's beena great experience to watch the entire saga (yes, including theoften-problematic but substantially rich prequel trilogy),understanding how it all comes to be and learning more of the universethat he, the creator has invested for the last 30 years. However, whenit comes to the Expanded Universe, I'm not nearly as enthusiastic asits big brothers though there are lots of action-packed andcharacter-driven stories to be found in between. In this case, TheClone Wars (not to be confused with Genndy Tartakovsky's brilliant 2DClone Wars microseries) chronicles not only the major war itself butrather the journey of all the characters, both minor and major whichLucas hasn't had time to develop in the movies. When it comes to the recent abomination that is the Clone Wars animatedseries (it's basically three pilot episodes combined into one), there'sa greater fear that George has once again mangled with things heshouldn't have thought of: many fans will believe that it would set abad impression on the upcoming TV series in terms of how awful andupsetting the movie has been during its run at multiplexes (of course,I haven't watched it but I have the impression that it'll be just asnotorious as the Holiday Special). So, now that the new series, underthe steady hands of Avatar director Dave Filoni, has made its TV debuta few days ago: what's my verdict for the first two episodes?Surprisingly, despite some minor quibbles, they turn out to be muchbetter and more polished than expected, thanks to good (if notspectacular) storytelling and light-hearted (sometimes serious) tone ofthe show.Animation wise, the characters are inspired by the models fromThunderbirds, so there's no doubt they look like stiff puppets withoutstrings. However, there are some compliments to be made from theanimators at Singapore to make them slightly more believable in termsof facial expressions (maybe not as realistic as Pixar's but hey, it'sjust a TV show and for me, it's already pretty darned impressive),further enhanced by brilliant voice acting, oddly ou-of-place butbeautifully orchestrated soundtrack (a good thing since I've beenextremely tired of synthesized music these days) and the usual StarWars-esquire sound effects. Perhaps one of the show's most astonishingfeatures is characterization: here, we dwell deeper into the actualheart of characters (which I admit is missing in the prequels): forexample, each clone trooper has distinct thoughts and personalitieswhich make them much more as individuals as reflected by the JediMasters, rather than just mere tools. It's a touching quality that willeventually place an emotional weight on the movie series, especiallyRevenge of the Sith. Best of all, some of the elements from the muchbeloved classic trilogy are implemented in this series, probably toattract purists who have longed to recapture their magic moments, evenif it may not entirely succeed in certain levels.Like every show on television, The Clone Wars is not without its flaws:part of the initial concepts of the TV series can be a little childish, considering that it is specially made for kids and the Battle Droidscan get a little bit irritating, especially in the first episode wherethey are mostly portrayed as dim-witted cannon fodders: a majorcomplaint amongst older viewers and stuff. But then again, if you canpass over that feeling of throwing yourself out of the window afterhearing 'Roger, roger' for a hundredth time, you will surely enjoy whatGeorge and Filoni deliver for the next, um, hundred episodes!
Well, after a sceptical start with the clone wars animated movie, theactual TV series is getting better and better. Slightly bumpy starthowever. (Droid voices????) But as the "Shadow of malevolence storylineunfolds, it is clear that Star Wars is back in star wars territory.Great little storyline, and episode 3 is just true to the spirit of theoriginal Trilogy and yet keeps with the clone wars setting. Episodes 4& 5 are even better, and as a listener to the podcasts on theforce.netthe interviews are brilliant too. The creators are aware of what welike and don't and they reassure us not to worry, as some very coolstuff is still in the pipeline. I even rewatched the clone wars movie again now its out on DVD and ilike it 10 times better than i did before. I guess everything was new.I also found out that the movie was the first stuff they filmed for theseries and that everything that has come since has been improved upon, and much has yet to be seen. I am looking forward to the episode i sawin a clip where we see a flashback of General Grievous become what heis now. Anakins character is actually likable now. And Asoka is less brattishthan she was in the movie. Just a shame about the damn droid voices.Less is more sometimes eh! Well done George and the team. So far i'mloving it, and cant wait for each episode. Finally, some of us mayactually understand what GL was trying to achieve with the prequels. The kids love it too. I hope it gets a little darker though, or atleast remains at the level of the malevolence storyline. Cant wait for the LIVE ACTION show next year too, but I hope that oneis gonna be dark and for the fans, and not for the kids. (As promised.)Then, i think balance will be achieved. Clone wars for the kids, fine. But if they make Star Wars TV for the fans, all may be forgiven.Oh, one last thing... Needs a little bit more John Williams score.Pleeease??? _______________________EDIT: 2010OK, series 2 is now half way through.... WOW!!!! It has just changedcompletely, series 1 was great with teathing troubles as I stated in myreview. But series 2, THIS IS STAR WARS!! And its a shame to say it,especially as i didn't mind the prequels too much, but I wish theywould re-do the prequels in this animated style. 100 times morecharacter than the live action. I now LOVE this show. My only gripe nowis with the Cartoon network, who keep skipping weeks of showing it.People keep missing it and viewing figures will drop, and its the showthat will get the blame yet its because its hardly aired consistently. This has happened with LOST and other great TV. People miss it and thenforget about it. TV is based on viewing figures, so let us view it damnit!Keep em coming and thank G for the darker more adult turn of series 2.
I didn't really enjoyed the last 3 starwars films and I also didn'treally like the clone wars animated film. However the clone wars TVseries is simply great. At 22 mins per episode it really works, actionpacked, fun and does actually contain adult themes. Like many modernanimations it works on a lot of levels. The stories are fantastic andgive you more of an appreciation for the last 2 films, because of thebackbone story offered. I have watched 10 episodes so far and haveenjoyed all of them, only a couple have been below par (the one withJarJar). Its great popcorn sci-fi TV, I compel any starwars fan towatch it.
After seeing Star Wars The Clone Wars (movie) in theaters I was verydisappointed. After the first few episode of the series I was verydisappointed and lost all hope, man am I happy that I watched thefourth episode Rookies, after that one the series gained momentum, itbecame one of the best animated TV-series ever. Now were at the sixthepisode of the third season, and I must say for one, the animationitself has really been upgraded, and the (dark) second season wasreally cool. The geonosis story-arc in the second season with spannedover five episodes was very cool and atmospheric. Of course the Jar JarBinks episodes were not so great (to say the least), but those arethree episodes stretched over three seasons, and he doesn't even makean appearance in the second season. I'm really interested to find outwhat happens to Ahsoka and Rex (Rex is my favorite character right noweven though he didn't make an appearance yet in the third season).Ahsoka well, she started out annoying but she's growing up as acharacter. I really recommend seeing it.
