I've decided to write a short review to compensate for a low ranking the movie has got, which is completely not deserved. The movie is great, but completely overlooked. By a happy coincidence I got to seeit on TV one night, and feel really lucky I chose this film. The plot of the movie is fresh scince0fiction story able to avoid multiple cliches of the genre. Tension is kept through the entire film; visuals are nice; acting believable and really felt for the main character(Gary Daniels who appears to be a famous British kick-boxer gives a wothy performance). Now it has been quite a long time since I watche the movie, and I can't wait to watch it again. The only reason it has got such a low ranking on yahoo_movies is cause it's got only a few reviews. Which is another evidence that Spoiler is overlooked.
In a dystopian future, a prisoner named Mason (Gary Daniels) keeps escaping and suffering the consequences- being frozen in cryo-sleep for many years. Each time, Mason faces the loss of or advancing age of his loved ones. SPOILER is a low-budget film w/ grand aspirations. Bleak and rather depressing, it's worth a watch...
The special effects when they come are handled well enough when theyfinalycome. The acting is very poor and in places makes you cringe. The idea iskinda like Demolition Man crossed with Blade Runner. Its not the worstsci-filow budget movie out there, could have been much better if handled with abitof care.Id give it 5/10.
The film chooses to be sci-fi and then it chooses to have melodrama aswell?Doesn't work when there is little attention to acting, and the script ispoor. There is one scene in particular that goes on too long and you justcan't take it seriously, but let's have your viewing ruin it foryou!
It's a pretty sad to see a man wasting all those years and almost neverableto see his daughter. But at least he gets to see her, even if she was oldenough to be his mother. In a way the tagline of Mason trying to see hisdaughter before it was to late was good.
Although made on a low budget, this movie manages to have some good effectsand suspenseful escape scenes. Daniels gets few chances to show off hisawesome fighting skills, instead focusing on his performance. He gives aexcellent performance, proving he can do more than fight. You actually feelsorry for Roger Mason and understand why he makes the choices he does. 6outof 10.
