Great Intro to Stockard Channing

I agree with previous comments that Stockard Channing's portrayal ofKitty O'Neil made me just want to give her a hug, and congratulate herachievements despite all the discouragements heaped on her that shecouldn't do it. It's not easy to do a credible job playing a deafperson's role, but she nailed it. Because of her acting job, I wantedto know more about the real Kitty O'Neil as an example of how much aperson with a "disability" can do with "attitude". It did throw me thenext time I saw her in another movie, and realize that not only was sheNOT deaf, but could sing! This role made me a permanent fan. I too wishI could buy a DVD of the movie. Sure, she has been good even with someof the comic roles. But I saw a very powerful dramatic actress, and amglad she finally got to do West Wing. If anyone knows if the DVD isavailable, I'd love to show others how capable she is in a dramaticrole.

nice show from Stockard Channing

Stockard Channing probably doesn't remember that she was in this movie, butit's a great biopic about a deaf stuntwoman. Deaf viewers should be warnedthat Kitty O'Neill was an oralist! Colleen Dewhurst and Brian Dennehy arealso pleasing as Kitty's parents.

I just wanted to say this movieshould be re- released for today's audience. I played a friend ofStockard Channing. It was a great movie back then. I would love to showit again for my children to see. Is there anyone who can tel me if thisis somewhere I can rent or buy? Stockard Channing was great and I thinkit is her best movie yet! I was only 18 when this was filmed and itleft a lasting impression on me! Thanks for anyone's help. My first encounter with Stockard Channing

Being one of the five people who missed Grease (the other four wereclinically brain-dead), I was enthralled with the performance of thispreviously unknown (to me) actress, who I had to believe washearing-impaired. I loved her and wondered where I could see more ofher.Unfortunately, I appeared to be one of only five people to ever see THISmovie, and the other four were also clinically brain-dead, so I couldn'taskanybody who this woman was (as I had failed to remember hername). When I later saw Stockard Channing in some silly comedic role (andcouldn'tbelieve she wasn't actually hearing-impaired), I was disappointed. When Isaid so, a friend said "But she's always been a comedicactress.""No!" I protested, "She is a wonderful dramatic actress! Did you ever seethis movie about a deaf woman...."I am glad to see Stockard doing dramatic work frequently now (includingWestWing). I wish I could see this movie again, but it appears not to beavailable.
