Oh man, not ANOTHER teen movie

"It's amazing, isn't it? You would have never guessed that everyone atthis school is a professional dancer." I saw "Not Another Teen Movie"before seeing this and didn't realize how closely it resembled this. Ididn't go to my high school prom but I did attend the days of schoolleading up to it. I don't remember so much emphasis being put on Kingand Queen. No one had a posse following them around and each candidatewasn't endorsed by specific clubs. In fact, we didn't have stupid clubsthat focused on hygiene and prisoners; we weren't that obscure.Anyway, Rachel Leigh Cook is beautiful and anyone could see that beforeAnna's character "fixed her up" and made her pretty. Glasses, overalls, and a pony tail don't exactly make a person undesirable. The onlybenefit to the existence of this movie is that a number of parodies canbe made after it.One last thing, at the end he was indecent in public which calls for anarrest. He would go to jail or at least pay a fine for that. That was adumb ending.

This film rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this movie! I think I have seen it about 1,000 times! It is about Zachary Siler (Prinze Jr.), who has just gotten dumped by his girlfriend Taylor (O' Keefe) for Brock Hudson (Lillard), a guy who stars on the show "The Real World." So, he decides to make a bet with his friends that he can turn any girl into the prom queen in six weeks. The girl chosen is Laney Boggs (Cook), the class nerd. This movie stars Rachael Leigh Cook, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jodi Lyn o' Keefe, Matthew Lillard, Usher Raymond, Anna Paquin, Kieran Culkin, and Sarah Michelle Gellar (watch for her brief cameo!). It is too bad that they didn't release a soundtrack for the film cause the music is the best!

Obey! Popularity is ALL that matters!!

Oggggg... that basically sums up my feelings for this steaming pile ofcrap. I had a roommate who as a film major likes romantic comedies, which is how I ended up watching this. I could go on and on about howthis piece of irresponsible junk is wrong on so many levels, butinstead I'll just talk about how this film would have worked muchbetter as a horror flick. What really should have happened is that this film should have beenexactly as it is now, except every single character gets brutallykilled. If Freddie Prinze Jr. was just decapitated at some point, withtons of blood then this would have been a worthwhile movie. If RachaelLeigh Cook (who looks AMAZINGLY stupid at all times in real life aswell as on film - what the hell is with her forehead? She has to besome kind of hybrid alien/human the result of all those alienimpregnation abductions you always hear about) was stabbed with rustynails and glass repeatdly, then forced to go to the big dance likethat, this movie would have been a whole lot more interesting. And thenthere's Usher. He should have just been blown up by large explosives. If the director had implemented these suggestions, it would have been aMUCH more enjoyable movie. Do not watch this junk, ever, if you mustwatch bad movies, watch b-movies, they are more entertaining.

Don't miss out on this movie!

This movie is a great movie which shows that just because you're different doesnt's mean that people aren't attracted to you. This movie is sad, funny, and romantic all at the same time. I would tell you more but I do not want to ruin it for you.

This movie was oddly confusing.

Laney was never a geek- she was just unsuperficial, even if she was kind of cynical and mean. Then, Freddie Prinze has her wear this really small red dress, and they dance by a pool. There were a couple funny scenes, like when Zach does his hackey-sack thing on stage and one really funny character, (played by Matthew Lillard) but it was predictable, and kind of strange. Why did Laney have to change, anyway?

Cute and funny romance that pushes all the right buttons.

This cute and funny romance is sure to charm the socks off of you. It pushed all the right buttons to be labeled as a number on film!

5 stars because of paul walker.

This movie was great, especially sence it had Paul Walker in it. Wait tell it gets cheaper, though, no movie is worth ninety dollars no matter who it has in it.

Shallow Teeny-Bopper film sinks faster than the Titanic!

I swear, if I see one more of these empty, shallow, teeny-bopper flicks, Iwill scream. The great film makers of our time are rolling in their gravesand some aren't even dead yet. How do people get the backing to make thiscrap. This is one of those movies where when you watch it, you think, whyamI staying. Cook is extremely dull as a high school nobody who gets amake-over to be popular. Prinze, although he is great to look at, is alsoboring as the guy who makes Cook over. But that's all he is, eye candy. Theonly positive thing I can say about this is that Mathew Lillard ishilariousas always. His portrayal as an MTV "REAL WORLD" reject is so funny. I warnall people with IQ's higher than their shoe size to stay away from thishorrible film.I give this film * (for Lillard)

A Great Movie. Fun and Hilarious!

She's All That is a cool teen movie that was really funny and was packedwith laughs! Also, this movie had an awesome cast including Freddie PrinzeJr., Rachael Leigh Cook, Paul Walker, Jodi Lynn O'Keefe, Usher Raymond,Gabrielle Union, Matthew Lillard, Lil Kim, and more!!! This movie was highlyentertaining and hits one of the tops on the teen comedy films. I give She'sAll That a 10 out of 10!!! :)

So-So

The movie had a lot of potential. I think the script was weak and thedirection was a little off. The actors did what they could with theirparts. There were too many parts of this movie that made it VERY wishywashy (ex. the dance scene) and the REAL WORLD parts could have beenextremely funny, but there was something missing...

Pretty Bad

Formulaic Recipe gone bad! This movie has all of the elements of an average teen high schoolflick. The popular group, the unpopular group, the 'controversial' mixing of thepopular group and the unpopular group. Yet somehow this movie isdefinitelybelow average. The bright spot of the movie is Kevin Pollak who playsLa-Ney's practical, dim-witted father. Also the cheesy art spectacle nearthe beginning is ok and La-Ney's friend (?) Elden Henson gives theaudiencea fresh comic break from what is an otherwise predictable andunfulfillingplot. The main problem with the movie is not that it is filled with cliches.Rather that some of the cliches just do NOT make any sense within thescopeof the movie. A good example is the subplot of the conflict between ZachSiler and his father. It just is something extra that adds nothing to themain plotline of the movie. Then in the end when Zach graduates he isnaked. What does any of this have to do with the movie? He already got the girlsowhat does it matter if we even see him graduating or not? In this movieitwas entirely unnecessary. The movie should have just ended with Zack andLa-ney kissing or something like that.I don't know it just seemed to me as though this movie started out ok andthen went on a downward spiral.

Rachel Leigh Cook shines

In an otherwise routine teen comedy, Rachel Leigh Cook shines - which is afundamental problem, as it undermines the basic premise of the film. Hertransformation from supposed dowdy, bespectacled, paint-spattered mouse intothe elegant and beautiful (and then some) prom date is all too predictable.A few truly funny scenes are not enough to make this more than an averagemovie.

The most hopeful and romantic film of the 90's teen movies

I've seen this movie six times and still have not gotten tired of it. It is definitely one of my favorites. Though it does emphasize the importance of looks and popularity in today's high school crowd, it also allowed Laney to become popular while still being herself. This movie is a true portrayal of today's high school society which is why it's so popular. I loved the movie's ending and it really helped me through a situation I was in. I've climbed to the top of the pyrimid from the bottom and have dated girls from each end of the ladder. Truely, some of the more interesting girls are the unnoticed ones and that's what this movie portrays. The fact that Rachel Leigh Cook turns out to be such a beauty adds to the movie's charm. If you have any kind of a romantic side to you at all, then you will love this movie. I'm a hopeless romantic and will probably see this movie 30 more times.

A story that you have seen a thousand times.

You take a tedious screenplay, a boring soundtrack and mediocre actors and you'll get a film like "She's all that". My godness why are the most teen films of the recent years so bad. Equal if you take "I know what you did last Summer" or "Dirty Dancing". They are all stale. If you want to see good teen films that watch "Blackboard Jungle" or "Grease".

no brain cells needed

This movie came as a package with Pleasantville and The Faculty and I mustsay I was only interested in latter. Having said that, the movie was apleasant surprise. Sure it's one of those predictable flicks that needs nobrain cells but it was 'cute' as my best friend said. What was different about it was that The Girl was not some shy thing whojust needed some guidance but a 'feisty' feminist - again my best friend -who knew what she wanted. And of course, the dance. It was just so unexpected and I thoroughlyenjoyedit. If you have time and want to shut down your brain for a while, this is theway to go. I say 8 out of 10.

Good teen flick...not much more..don't expect Oscar greatness or anything

Let's get one thing straight before I make my critique: for those whoare expecting an earnest depiction of high school students and highschool life, look elsewhere. "She's All That" is as over-the-top as itcan get and the movie ironically contains random jokes and parodiesabout supposedly realistic programs as well, namely the MTV-spawnedreality show "The Real World" and its progeny series "Road Rules". Thismovie is all in good fun but it does manage to hint at a good deal ofreal life trifles that particular people suffer in thathighly-influential and barely survivable place that we geeks andoutsiders call "high school". Well, maybe not "high school" (probablycloser to HELL), but anyone who was picked on or unjustifiablyostracized gets the picture. The endearing Rachael Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze, Jr. star in thissugary ditty about a dude named Zack Silar (Prinze) who is ditched byhis long-time armpiece Taylor Vaughn (O'Keefe) only six weeks beforethe prom. He suffers public humiliation in front of his jock companionsand, moreover, the entire school. His less-than-sympathetic pal Dean(Walker) proposes a bet which the illustrious school president can'tpass up: Dean will hand-pick the geekiest girl in the school and withinthe time allotted, Zack must transform her into a mega-babe and makeher more than eligible for the elite status of prom queen. The deal ison and within only two minutes of searching, the "scary andinaccessible" Laney Boggs (Cook) makes her appearance by falling flaton her face in the courtyard - Dean has found his guinea pig. Fromhere, Prinze and Cook do the traditional and recycled theme ofgeek-to-goddess. Suspension of disbelief is a pre-requisite for thistransformation - the pretty and petite Cook is hardly an ugly ducklingby any standard, her luminous brown eyes and almost pixie-ish beauty acomplete distraction, even when she is supposed to look mousy(tortoiseshell glasses, stringy hair, sloppy clothes, etc.). Prinzecomes off humble and sweet even when he is trying to be suave andarrogant, but this doesn't ruin anything. We rather want to see himthat way because we want to believe that he really does care aboutLaney and that his reputation is the last thing on his mind. Prinzedoes this remarkably well. Matthew Lillard of "Scream" fame is a riotas a fictitious Real World cast member Brock Landers, a character thatis obviously modeled from the obnoxious and insensitive Puck from RealWorld San Francisco. Of course, he's a lot more likable because hischaracter is a complete farce and Lillard almost steals the show.Almost unbearable is Paul Walker as Dean Sampson, the narcissistic jockwho places the bet with Zack and manipulates it in his favor. Walker'sdelivery is so forced and obtuse that one would believe that is trulyHIS nature and not just his character. Jodi Lyn O'Keefe is a comedicqueen as the vacuous Taylor Vaughn, and Kieran Culkin and Eldin Ratliffare again part of the same cast list (The Mighty) but this time asLaney's younger brother Simon and her best friend Jesse, respectively. If you watch closely during a particular lunchroom scene, you will seePrinze's wife and "Buffy" TV star Sarah Michelle Gellar make a briefcameo.

It's All Crap

Why are movies like this one constantly churned out? The teen flick diedoutin the 80's. C'mon! I've had enough of ones as predictable as this one--Idon't even need to rehash the plot, since it's been done a million timesbefore and you already know how it ends. Ugh. My Fair Lady did this somuchbetter many years ago. And that ridiculous and bizarre choreographed dancesequence? Where the heck did that come from? The two leads, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook, have little if nochemistry. Most of the other actors, like Paul Walker and Jodi LynnO'Keefe, are dull, one-dimensional villains. The reason this film doesn't get a fail from me is for two reasons: one, Ilike the Sixpence None the Richer song "Kiss Me". I have to admitit.Second, there are a couple of really good supporting performances. KevinPollak is pretty humorous as the father who gets all the Jeopardyquestionswrong (thankfully, they don't kill it); Kieran Culkin, who I like muchbetter than his older brother, is cute as the younger brother; EldenHensonis also quite humorous, as well as Matthew Lillard. I still feel that AnnaPaquin was horribly misused in the whole film. Why bother crediting herwhenher role is basically a walk on? It's a two minute cameo. She's good. Iliked her character, but I have to question her scriptchoices.Grade: D+
