Nauseating

If I could compress all of my thoughts on "Scary Movie" into one word, thatword would be nauseating. I cannot believe that this film did not receivethe NC-17 rating that it so richly deserved. Any film with (spoiler!) a fullfrontal view of a man is enough to warrant more than an R rating. Yet thefilm did not stop there. At the time that I saw "Austin Powers 2: The SpyWho Shagged Me," I found its jokes about bodily functions disgusting.Unfortunately,"Scary Movie" went far beyond "The Spy Who Shagged Me," aswell as any boundaries of decency, humor or farce. The story relied upon thealready meager plots of "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer,"which in themselves had mediocre writing and plots. Although ridiculing themdown to the last detail is a nice trip for the director, it leaves theviewer wanting more than sex jokes and visual gags. I will give the filmcredit for its clever nods to "The Matrix,""The Blair Witch Project," and"The Sixth Sense," yet it lacked any depth whatsoever. Nothing made theviewers care if a character was knocked off, since their personalities wereso incredibly cardboard that it was amazing that a great gust of wind didn'tblow them all over. The only character that the audience could care aboutwas Cindy, and even she (spoiler) lost her mind as a result of alcoholconsumption. Cheri Oteri did a nice turn as Gail Hailstorm, and the ending(which I will not spoil here) was a pleasant twist on her part.Unfortunately, the last moment of the film was unfulfilling. I would rathersee a definite ending to a film, not a random trick of fate. But if you seekjokes regarding sex, bodily functions, suggestive nudity on the part of guysand nausea, by all means, go see this film.

WHAT A PILE OF *****!!!!!

This flick is absolute GARBAGE! It made no sense at all...just a bunch of *****s trying to be funny but failing miserably. The jokes are so retarded and gross. But I didn't rate the visuals F because of the scene with Carmen Electra running through the sprinklers. Now that was one good visual. I think I know why it's called "Scary Movie". Because it's so "scary" that a movie can actually be as bad as this. What a load of CRAP!

Wayans Brothers Know How to Make Laughs...

I am a huge fan of both the horror and comedy genres and when the twogenresare combined like this it's the best. Marlon, Shawn, and Keenan IvoryWayansbring us a spoof of 90's genre more specifically the Scream and I know WhatYou Did Last Summer series. As the laughs start piling up so do the bodies.I remember sitting in the movie theaters with my friend and actuallyfallingout of my seat at some of the more hilarious parts. Just like the trailersays " They didn't make the rules, they're just too stupid to follow them"that is certainly the truth. The cast stars Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell,Shannon Elisabeth as Buffy Gilmore, Carmen Electra as Drew Decker, MarlonWayans as Shorty Meeks, Shawn Wayans as Ray-Ray Wilkens the sexuallyconfused jock, Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze, Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks.Keenan Ivory Wayans has a cameo that pokes fun of Amistad and Titanic. Asfor the DVD its okay, but most of the features you get on the VHS version.TRIVIA: SCARY MOVIE WAS THE ORIGINAL TITLE FOR SCREAM WHEN WRITER KEVINWILLIAMSON FIRST BROUGHT IT TO DIRECTOR WES CRAVEN AND DIMENSIONFILMS/MIRAMAX. Absolutely the worst 1hr 29mins ever produced...

When they made Hot Shots! and HS Part Deux! they succeded. At first theysucceded with some of the movies of Leslie Nielsen as well. The reasonwas that they worked the script through, probably - thatis.However, Scary Movie stinks. This is the worst garbage Ihave ever wasted my money on renting. It is so bad that I don't have wordslow enough to give an ample description of it.If this is supposed to be talent, then watch out world!!! Because thenreal talent is down for the count, maybe even gutted and bleeding toit's death.Don't do the stupid thing I did. Don't rent this movie.

the definitive worst movie I've ever seen

Its hard to believe this movie actually got so much as a 5.5 rating, becauseScary Movie isn't really a movie. It is actually a porn movie disguised as aparody of various influential movies. i thought this was what it said it wasbut it turned out to be a compilation of sex scenes, drug abuse and badtoilet humor strung together by a weak story and excuses itself as a parody.Having said what it is, I consider this the worst movie I've ever seenbecause it qualifies as a hollywood movie but is no different than anunderground porn flick. The parodies were weakly done and overused. Theacting, needless to say, was stupid. The plot, there really is none. Thismovie took little effort to make, yet it is popular among many of the youthstoday because all you need in a movie to make the general teen populacelaugh is a comedic porn movie, and thats exactly what this movie is. -10/10

Funniest Movie In Years

Scary Movie is hands down the funniest movie I've seen in years. Its notforthe faint of heart, and will easily offend a LOT of people, but if you havean open minded sense of humor, its hillarious. It helps to have seen themovies that its spoofing (especially Scream, and I Know What...), and thereare some subtle spoofs of other movies throughout. Overall, a greatmovie.

I Came, I Saw, I Retched

Wow, What was that???? Did I really see what I thought Isaw?I have seen gems like "The Hot Pearl Snatch" and "Plan 9fromOuter Space" but this... Oh! Boy! I was overjoyed to seetheclosing credits roll !!! Many of my theater mates left after only 10 or 15minutes (to demand their money back, no doubt!)What did I like about this movie? Nothing! For the firsttimeEVER I can sadly state that not ONE joke worked, not ONEfilthy,perverted scene made me even crack a ghost of a smile!My daughter, 11, came with me and was so bored that she entertained herselfby blowing bubbles in the soda pop cup!This slurping sound seemed to be far more enjoyable then the stupid dialogon the screen!Don't wait for the video.. Don't rent the Video.. Don't watch this turkey onT.V. (F.C.C please help!) and most of all... DON'T MAKE A SEQUEL, PLEASE !!!!!!-1(minus one) star out of 5 (-*)

I'm still lost for words...

It is a sad fact that Scary Movie will go down in history as having one ofthe biggest grossing opening weekends in movie history and not just paleinto the insignificance that it deserves.I usually enjoy movies like this and was looking forward to seeing it butwas hugely disappointed. Films such as the Naked Gun films and Mike Myersfilms that tip their hats at other, more successful films have always, andalways will be made but (hopefully) never as bad as this again, although asequel has been announced.Those of you who have seen Scream 2 will have seen the clips for Stab - afilm of the events of Scream. These clips are far more ammusing than thechildish humour on show in Scary Movie. Maybe Wes Craven and KevinWilliamson should strike back and make a parody of the parody of the parodyof the horror movie, I'm sure the film studios would buy it, they werefooled into paying for the trash that is Scary Movie. It plays the Scream script word for word, shot for shot. Weren't they brightenough to think for themselves? For once all the armchair critics out thereare right, they themselves could do better.This was the worst film I have ever seen at the cinema. The only film Ireally wanted to walk out from, but I stayed, hoping it would improve, I waswrong. There are a couple of funny moments but most of the 'jokes' are soun-funny that I spent most of my time with my head in my hands, cringing,not daring to see want awful moment this turkey would fling upnext.Do your self a favour and see Snatch, or any other filminstead.2 out of 10

An Insult To Viewers: Thank God the Wayan Bros. was Cancelled

Scary Movie could have been fun. It COULD have been side-splittinghilarity. Unfortunately, the script seems to have been written byadolescents with hormone-induced stupidity and immaturity.Scary Movie is filled to the brim with jokes that fall flat: there areunnecessary flatulence jokes, body fluid/sex jokes to the extreme, genitaliathat does not look fake at all, and some scenes that are directly liftedfrom other horror movies in order to be parodied, but instead drag on and onforever to a laughless death. The ONLY scene that is a brilliantly inspiredparody is NOT from a horror movie, and you have to wait until the VERY endto see it. An R-rating? It's ludicrous that serious, quality films like Tom Soldonz'Happiness and others are condemned by the MPAA to have scenes cut or bereleased unrated for having controversial topics/scenes. This piece of drekdrags out some of the most offensive, thoroughly squirm-inducing andtasteless acts, language, and images ever imagined, yet gets an R-ratingjust fine.And as for the Wayans, their creativity seems to have dwindled ever since InLiving Color ended. Their show was a funny, brilliant, daring satire attimes. This movie, however, is a testament to how dumbed-down, empty, andmoney-hungry some entertainers become for a paycheck.3 out of 10

The single best waste of a lot of money

This movie isn't worth the 6 bucks to see, let alone the millions tomake...don't go near the theatre. There was exactly 1 funny scene, and itlasted 15 seconds. Good thing I didn't pay to see it. Stay home, rentAirplane, and watch it about 5 times. It'll be a better investment oftimeand money.

The scary thing is that someone paid for this...

Scary Movie: A masked psychotic killer is stalks an unsuspecting group ofteens. Sound familiar?I understand how "Battlefield Earth" got made: John Travolta had enoughclout to bully a studio into making his pet project, even though the mostclueless sycophant would have known from the first dailies that it wasgoingto be a bomb. At least we won't have to worry about him for awhile.. Thequestion is how did this movie get the green light?"Airplane" is arguably, the best parody ever made. It poked fun at thedisaster genre and succeeded for several reasons: it boasted big namestars,had a clever script, silly special effects and most importantly, it washilarious. With "Scream " (the most successful tongue-in-cheek horrorfilm-ever) as it's template, "Scary Movie" had the potential to be anothergoodparody. Unfortunately, like people, movies don't always live up to theirpotential, and the execution (sorry) in this case, is frighteninglybad.Rather than creating a clever script the writers chose instead to makeenough changes to escape being sued for copyright infringement. Theythencobbled together scene references from the spate of copycat horror filmsthat have been polluting movie screens since "Scream's" success, hadCarmenElectra (the only recognizable "star" in the film) run through a sprinklerin her underwear and showed the funniest scenes from the movie in thetrailer. There was also a conscious effort to capture the "SomethingAboutMary" crowd with scenes of people being done in by penises and a womanbeingplastered to the ceiling and deluged in semen. And let's not forget theless than subtle homophobic bent that permeates the movie.I take comfort in the knowledge that the brothers Wayans will not becomingout with another piece of drivel like this for quite sometime.

Whassssssuuuuup!

This is a great laugh. A great send up of all the last few years' horrormovies. Scream, Sixth sense, The Matrix, I know what you did last summer,and more get the Wayans treatment as a bunch of kids go through the motionsof getting in totally ridiculous horror scenes. It does make you think howstupid people are in horror movies. For example the boy and girl making outand the boyfriend hears a noise in the bushes. He goes to see what it isand never comes back! How many times have you seen this in moviesbefore???? Anyway unlike the caption for the movie "No mercy. No shame. No sequel.",there is a sequel in production. It should be more of the same which isgood, because this is a really good laugh. Check it out today! 9 out of10.

A Comedy of Horrors

If you are expecting a serious slasher/scream movie then you are in for abig disappointment. But if you're looking for something to tickle your funnybone then this film is for you. The most fun part of the movie is trying toidentify the various horror films that this movie samples. A literal comedyof horrors, crude jokes and all, that will have laughing from beginning toend.

Not even close to "Airplane!"

"Scary Movie" was a big disappointment. Even though there were some funnymoments here and there, this movie, which targets the "Scream" films, didn'tmake me laugh as hard as I thought it would. So I have one question: why didthis movie gross $157 million at the box office last summer? It's a shamethat "Scary Movie" has made more money than far more funnier comedy spoofslike "Airplane!", "The Naked Gun", and "Blazing Saddles". "Scary Movie"isn't even close to matching the same kind of laughs as those moviesgenerated. Other comic spoofs like "Spaceballs", "High Anxiety", and "TopSecret!" have more laughs than this movie. This film just goes to show thatMel Brooks, Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker can do comedyspoofs better. Why couldn't this movie be made by one of those guys?** (out of four)

Not Worth The Money

It is absolutely amazing that this film was able to sneak past the censorsin its current form. The humor is laughable, but wears thin about tenminutes into the film. The performances are average at best, and unlessyoureally enjoy low brow humor, this movie will leave youdisappointed.

The most funniest movie I have ever seen!

"Scary Movie" might be the most funniest movie I have everseen.The movie is about a clueless group of teenagers stalked by a bumblingserial killer. The movie is a spoof to all horror clichés and also spoofshorror movies like "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer. CarmenElectra, Anna Faris and Shannon Elizabeth were great in the movie. The movieleaves no horror just comedy, the movie was great.I give 8 stars out of 10 stars. I highly recommend it.
