The 'STAR WARS' of slasher films finally comes to an end!

'SAW 3D': Three and a Half Stars (Out of Five) I've been a fan of the 'SAW' series since the original and enjoyedevery chapter immensely. Upon first viewing of the original I was alittle thrown by Cary Elwes's bizarrely bad lead performance (as wellas co-creator Leigh Whannell's) but I was blown away by the uniquestyle and creativeness of the film; it was certainly a step above mostslasher films and very memorable (and I think the two lead performanceskind of added an extra weird quirkiness to the film). The second andthird chapters were (surprisingly) in many way far superior to theoriginal, although not quite as classic, and really raised the bar forthe slasher film genre. It was a really cool horror trilogy (some callit the 'STAR WARS' trilogy equivalent in slasher films) and was nicelywrapped up. Then they continued the franchise with an unnecessaryfourth chapter that was a step down from the original three but still awell made slasher film with very creative death scenes. They took thestory in an entirely new direction with a new bad guy, DetectiveHoffman (Costas Mandylor), to continue the infamous villain Jigsaw's(the always impressive Tobin Bell) legacy (while still keeping him amajor part of the film franchise in flashbacks, a pretty unique ideafor the slasher film genre). The fifth film was a little better thanthe fourth and the sixth even better but comparing the latter three'SAW' films to the original three is like comparing the new 'STAR WARS'trilogy to the original. Even though the series went down hill a littleit's still been the most consistently good slasher franchise in moviehistory, no other horror film with continuing sequels can boast as highof quality for every chapter as the 'SAW' films. Now we reach theseventh and final chapter and it's a little disappointing, finally theseries is seriously running out of gas (so it's a good thing they'reending it) but it's still an entertaining horror film, probably theweakest in the series but still fun to watch. The series concludes the tale of Jigsaw's mad legacy with Hoffman onceagain playing out Jigsaw's tests to force flawed victims either topainful redemption or even more painful and gruesome death. In the lastchapter Hoffman was nearly killed by Jigsaw's wife Jill (once againplayed by Betsy Russell). He narrowly escaped a 'Jigsaw test' set byJill (while receiving major facial damage) and now he wants revenge. His secret is out (as Jigsaw's successor) thanks in large part to Jillrunning to the police for protection. So Hoffman sets up a few finaltests, one involving a man (Sean Patrick Flanery) claiming to be a'Jigsaw test' survivor and using that notoriety to make money. At thesame time Hoffman develops a plan to infiltrate the police and killJill once and for all. Elwes is back as the original film's survivorDr. Gordon (for the first time since the original film and this timenot hamming it up quite as much) but his intentions are unclear and itappears as though he might have been driven mad.Once again the death scenes are completely over the top and just ascreative and grotesque as ever. This time of course there's the addedbonus of being in 3D as well with body parts and blood actually flyingright at you. The story is nicely wrapped up but not in as satisfying away as fans wanted. Sure there's more twists and some cool action butthe series has been so much more creative and involving until now. Iwas expecting a lot more from a finale to this series. Part of theproblem is that Tobin Bell is severely underused, sure Jigsaw is deadbut the three chapters leading up till now have found plenty of ways touse him. He's the driving force behind the series and one of thegenre's most fascinating villains. He hasn't been so minimally usedsince the original film (where it wasn't revealed he was the killertill the very end). The dialog and acting is pretty bad in this chapteras well, there has been a fare amount of it sporadically in past filmsbut certainly not to this extent (except for maybe Elwes and Whannellin the original). This chapter seems more dumb-ed down, like it's goingjust for the blood and guts and crowd pleasing gimmicks. There's verylittle of the character development and drama that made the others sointriguing. Still it does have some pretty cool and creative deathscenes, like I said, and it's entertaining and fun to watch. I expecteda lot more from a final chapter but it's still better than most of whatother slasher franchise's have to offer.Watch our review show 'MOVIE TALK' at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffxjYiwLUko

Fake Blood That Looked Fake

This review is from: Saw: The Final Chapter (DVD) I do not want to reveal any spoilers here, but I just wished that the props team could have used fake blood that looked real.On the other possibly severed hand, it seemed that the production team has deliberately left a few questions unanswered, perhaps in hope for a prequel. I suspect that the comic book, Saw: Rebirth, may shed some light.

The last SAW movie. The Endgame. Or is it?

Returning for SAW VII are: Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor (SAW 3,4,5,6), Betsy Russell (SAW 3,4,5,6,) Cary Elwes (SAW 2004), Ned Bellamy (SAW 2004), James Van Patten (SAW 4,6,), Greg Bryk (SAW 5), Tanedra Howard (SAW 6), Shauna MacDonald (SAW 6), Larissa Gomes (SAW 6). When we last left SAW VI (2009), Jill (Betsy Russell) had opened the mystery box (SAW V [2008]) left to her in inheritance by Jigsaw John (Tobin Bell). She followed the instructions and found Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) and then put him in a face trap. Jill made her getaway. Hoffman was able to get out of the trap. Bleeding and in excruciating pain, Hoffman screams out. What a cliff-hanger! We eagerly awaited SAW 7 titled "SAW 3D: The Final Chapter" for 2010.Since SAW VI (2009) did not do very well, they decided to combine 3 proposed SAW movies into one last movie, thus calling it SAW 3D: The Final Chapter. I prefer to call it "SAW VII 3D". Eliminating the "VII" or "7" from the title is going to confuse people not following the series now, but wish to buy them on DVD and watch them in the correct order. We are taken back to the first SAW (2004), where we see one of the men has cut his foot off to escape. He drags himself down the hallway, stops at a hot, steamy pipe on the wall and deliberately burns the open end of his amputated leg. The game continues as we see Hoffman taking care of his ripped-off facial wounds and stitched himself up. You know he is going to go after Jill. What has become a tradition in the SAW movie series, is the first trap. This new trap is very differently done than any trap we have seen. The trap is not inside, but outside in a metropolitan city in the business district. It involves 2 men (Jon Cor, Sebastian Pigott) and one woman (Anne Lee Greene). They are trapped in a window shop display case at Metro Hall in Toronto. They are seen by a gathering audience outside as they watch in horror. We are also introduced to another survivor of John's traps. We have not seen him before. Bobby (Sean Patrick Flannery) is making the tv circuit with a published book about his ordeal and he is helping other survivors. That's the beginning of this seventh and last SAW movie and I will not tell you the Grand Finale. Rated "R". Running time: 90 minutes. Can't wait for an unrated version. For it being the last movie (?), it should have been 2 hours long. Also in the cast: Dean Armstrong, Chad Donella, Gina Holden, Chester Bennington, Rebecca Marshall, Naomi Snieckus, Laurence Anthony. If this movie is successful at the box office, I just betcha the SAW franchise will return. The SAW franchise is now in the Guinness Book of World Records.Guinness World Records 2011My thougts: I enjoy the SAW movie series with Tobin Bell and Costas Mandylor. LionsGate has been cranking them out solid every year for October since 2004. They need a break. The SAW movie franchise is a "cash cow" (Mow Mow) for the actors and everyone connected with LionsGate and the SAW movies. I like the good mystery, suspense, gore, plot twists and the traps they invent. I thought SAW II (2005) was the best and SAW III made it even better. Bringing back Donnie Wahlberg for SAW IV was a great idea and allowing Costas Mandylor to continue his role as "Hoffman" since SAW III has keep the drama going. The continuous scene between John and Hoffman in SAW V (without breaking it up) was the best tension-builder of all the films. Certainly nothing wrong with long dramatic scenes between main characters. My first experience seeing a reaL D))3D movie with the new glasses. NO longer red & blue with the new movie techniques. The recyclable glasses cost extra with the movie ticket as a premium. They fit nicely over your own prescription glasses. You may take the reaL D))3D glasses home and use them again at the movie theater for another reaL D))3D event or put them in the recycle container in your theater. They are not to be used in the sunlight as sunglasses. They have no UV protection. I hope SAW will return in the near future with Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor and ? (I promise not to tell).Saw (2004).Saw II - Unrated (Two-Disc Special Edition) (2005).Saw III - Unrated (Full Screen Edition) (2006).Saw IV (Unrated Full Screen Edition) (2007).Saw V (Unrated Director's Cut) (2008).Saw VI (Widescreen Unrated Edition) (2009).SAW VII 3D: The Final Chapter (2010). Saw: The Final Chapter. Update: December 2011. Vice Chairman of Lionsgate, Michael Burns, said 'I'm sure some day you'll see SAW back in the picture."

Worst Horror Film of All-Time?

In the midst of all the 3D action, Saw producers thought this would bethe best opportunity to cash in for the franchise. However, movie goerswill all be disappointed (especially if you've seen the trailers) withthis "state-of-the-art 3D" film.Saw VII revolves around Bobby Dagan, an apparent Jigsaw survivor. But,after about twenty minutes of pointless story, Bobby is put into a realtrap and we as an audience find out he's nothing but a liar.Meanwhile, Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes) returns and surprise-surprise isalso an accomplice to Jigsaw. He's responsible for all the happeningssince he survived his trap in the original film. What's wrong with thispicture? A doctor, devoted to saving lives, has decided to become aserial killer? So, what Saw does is take a cop and a doctor and turnthem both evil. How imaginative! What sucks about this most of all, isthis has been discussed for the last six years from the IMDb messageboards and the House of Jigsaw forums. What the writers have done wasjust use these idiotic ideas.Besides the pointless 3D elements, Saw fails on all accounts because itdestroys several characters, the overall timeline of Saw, and importantplot elements about the Saw universe. It's annoying to have heardpeople say, "the guy who did surgery on Michael in Saw II was Dr.Gordon," then have to see that the writers put that in the final film.I was an avid fan of Saw up until the announcement of Dr. Gordonreturning. It sounded so inane to say that he's been working behind thescenes the whole time. He's a doctor. He was screwed over, had to cutoff his foot and lost his entire family in one night. But, he forgivesJigsaw and wants to help him kill other people. Makes sense? Howstupid! If he was helping, why didn't he show up in any previousflashbacks? Where was he the last two years (Saw-Saw VII is at least a2 year time difference)?? I thought Saw VII was a good final chapter upuntil Hoffman was halted by an unknown person in a pig mask, who wasrevealed to be Dr. Gordon and then the usual Saw flashback brought allthe issues (unanswered) to light. I couldn't be more appalled by thisfilm.Don't forget, this is quite possible the worst acted Saw film of alltime. Minimal Tobin Bell screen time, without counting his Jigsaw voiceon the tapes, and lesser-known actors trying to be established asprominent actors. Without substance in the story or any of the newcharacters, this Saw has no real plot line to follow or development toundergo. It will be dubbed "one of the worst horror films of all time" for me.I'm very displeased with the producers, writers, and actors. Basicallyeveryone involved in this franchise is no longer someone I likeanymore. This includes the fans who thought up the Gordon theories andactually managed to have the writers/producers think they were goodideas. Not recommended.

The Final Chapter Falls Flat (Spoiler-Free Review)

"If it's Halloween, then it must be Saw" We've heard this tag linerepeated over the years, and it's no surprise another Saw film haspopped up into cinemas. There is, however, a catch to this installment:it's the final chapter. As a loyal fan of the series, I was excitedlast year with Saw VI and saw it as the perfect opportunity to end theseries. Sure there were a few unanswered questions, but I didn't thinkit was worth another film to get the answers. Obviously, the producersdisagreed with me and not only went for a seventh installment, but alsogave into the latest 3D phenomena to cash in some bucks.Financially, the producers put themselves in a nice position. Therewere tons of movie-goers paying to see Saw 3D. As far as credibilitygoes, the producers threw it out the window. Saw 3D is, without adoubt, the worst installment in the series. It's bad…really bad…and Ican't stress that enough. Not only does the film deliver a ridiculousplot, but it also fails visually, leaving movie goers with emptywallets and a short-coming 3D experience.Saw VII…excuse me, I mean Saw 3D…tells the story of Bobby Dagen, aJigsaw survivor who makes profit from his grisly experience by writingbooks and televising interviews on television. He also acts as acounselor to surviving Jigsaw victims, guiding them towardspsychological recovery. Life seems good for Bobby, until he is thrustinto a horrific game where the goal is to save his wife before thetimer hits zero. Meanwhile, Detective Hoffman hunts down Jill Tuck, seeking revenge over the events of the last film. There's a lot going on in Saw 3D, and you honestly never get bored withit. There are eleven traps (the highest in franchise history) and theHoffman and Jill story line is presented on the side. The problem, however, is that we've seen this all before. We've seen someone gothrough a series of tests against a timer, we've seen gruesome traps, and we've seen the now predictable twists. Not only is the material inthe film recycled, it's poorly made. The plot is ludicrous, the actingis horrible, the traps lack creativity, and the 3D looks cheap andisn't utilized at all (pretty disappointing considering it was shotwith 3D cameras).Tobin Bell, whose character died in Saw III, is in the film for anestimated five minutes, possibly even less. Carey Elwes, who played theinfamous Dr. Gordon in the original Saw is back this time around, butalso has very limited screen time. It's a shame that a majority of themain characters are pushed to the side for Bobby Dagen's game, which inessence, turns out to be a waste of time. The traps are boring, theshock value has completely disappeared, and you ultimately don't feelfor any of the characters in the film. All of these cons, along withthe cheap 3D, make for a horrible film that shouldn't even bear the Sawtitle. It's even difficult putting the blame on some of the film makers.Director Kevin Greutert was forced to return since Lionsgate had aclause in his contract for another film. He was set to directParanormal Activity 2, but was pulled in to Toronto a week before thefilming of Saw 3D. He attempted vigorous re-writing of the script, butit proved to be difficult since a majority of the sets were alreadybuilt. Greutert tries his best to salvage the film, but it ultimatelyfalls into pieces due to the production and incoherent story line.Producer Mark Burg and writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan shouldbe ashamed for giving into 3D and crazy fan theories online.Overall, the only positive thing about Saw 3D is that the franchise isfinally over. It's run its course, and while I expected the film to bepoor, I didn't expect it to come to this. After following the franchisefor six long years, I honestly feel betrayed and cheated after thefinal twist. The Saw franchise started with an interesting concept andran with it, but it fell flat on its face at the finish line.

This Final Installment is Good, but Rushed

Saw's Final Chapter does everything it set out to do: It ties up all the loose ends, is done in 3D, is exceptionally gory, brings back characters throughout the earlier films, and ends the long-running story-driven plot. The problem is, most of these weren't accomplished in the best ways they could've been. When a long-running horror franchise ends, it's nice to see everything fit together and make sense by the conclusion, which The Final Chapter achieves. But somehow, even though the film debuted within the timeframe of all the others, it feels rushed and insignificant. Perhaps this is due to what was to be Saw's biggest twist of all. It was not only suspected by most Saw die-hards, but the filmakers chose to introduce this colossal twist within the movie's first 10 minutes, ruining the effect. From that point on, it's a dead giveaway. This isn't to say The Final Chapter doesn't have its moments. The acting is as good as it's always been for returning characters, so if you liked/disliked them before, nothing changes here. There are a few twists and turns along the way, which for better or worse, is entertaining to watch. Unfortunately, Tobin Bell(Jigsaw)'s screen time is significantly reduced. He appears in only a scant few scenes, and the perfomances are very brief. This makes the rest of the film's shortcomings all the more conspicuous. The gore is top-notch, and is done magnificently throughout; perhaps better than ever before. The 3D effects are good as well, but let it be known you don't see a whole lot of it. Horror fans will likely find My Bloody Valentine 3D to be far more satisfying in the 3D department. The overall look is similar to what you'd come to expect from a Saw film, though there is a very interesting trap setpiece done in public while in broad daylight. It's new for the series, and is a very welcome addition.Saw: The Final Chapter is an interesting film, and ties up the numerous loose ends from the earlier installments, making the annual horror series come full circle. Most die-hards will enjoy it, as it accomplishes all it's primary objectives. It's just that it seems if that was the filmakers' only goal, and to do it as quickly as possible. The Final Chapter manages to come together, but something's missing. It's a good movie and a good Saw film, but it may not be the epic finale you were hoping for.

The last (?) installment of the franchise. Satisfying conclusion to the series. Best one since 2. I say B

Jigsaw (Bell) has one final trap set up for a survivor, can he surviveagain? After Bobby Dagen (Flanery) becomes rich after writing a bookchronicling his survival from Jigsaws traps he finds himself in anotherone. This time with bigger implications. When the police finally findout the truth can they get to him in time? Let me start off by saying Iam a fan of the Saw franchise, in spite of the gore factor. Jigsaw hasalways reminded me a little of Hannibal Lector, a brutal serial killer, but there is a reason for what he does. The first one is excellent dueto the fact it changed the genre, but through the years it decided toremove the plot aspects and see how many people they can cut up in 90minutes. This one was not nearly as graphic as the other ones (ran outof ideas?) and only one scene made me squirm while watching. It is aSaw movie so you pretty much know what your gonna get. They did areally good job of tying up the series for a satisfyingconclusion...but (no big shock) they left it open if they did decide todo another, like they did with the "final chapters" of "Friday the13th", "Nightmare on Elm street", "Scream", "Final Destination", etc...Overall I liked it, but again I have liked all of them. I give it a B.Would I watch again? - Yes, I would like to watch them all in orderagain to see how they all fit together.

Weak entry. Mildly satisfying closure.

So, it finally comes to an end. I can't make up my mind whether thiswas good or bad. I loved the return of Doctor Gordon, but the twist wasrather noneffective considering he only pops up in the movie twice. Ididn't like how Jigsaw was only in one scene. I didn't like how Jillhas been turned into a damsel in distress. Nor, do I like how bad theeffects are. But, the last act of the film is quite strong. I lovedHoffman in the police station, it was rather cool. The twist wasentertaining, but as I said before, non affective. This is pretty much all I say. A weak entry with a mildly satisfyingclosure. Please don't make another one.

Cheap and outright HORRIBLE !

Ever since James Wan left the director's chair following Saw III, thewhole thing has been falling apart. With Saw 3D it finally hits rockbottom. On screen performance is just lame, including Jigsaw. The story is asshallow as it can probably get and the direction looks like a cheap BGrade flick. Its just not the worst of the SAW Series .. No .. its the worst of itsgenre. Its an appeal to the people behind the franchise : "pleasestop!" .. the audience has made their choice. Please don't bother us with any more sequels.

mawhite717 2012-05-18 13:11:39

ugh!

i LOVE the SAW movies... they are my favorite horror movies. HOWEVERSAW 3D was BY FAR the WORST movie i have seen in my entire life. theacting was horrible, the storyline was horrible, the opening scene andthe ending were the STUPIDEST i've ever seen. i honestly knew from theopening scene that i wouldn't like it at all, but i decided to give ita chance instead of walking out of the theater right then and there. imean, it was my first time watching a movie in 3D and i did pay $10 forthe ticket. coming from one of the biggest saw fans out there, i canhonestly say i hope they don't make anymore movies. they're justrunning it in the ground just like all the other horror movies. theyhonestly should've stopped at the third one. im not trying to mean orhate on anyone, but anyone who says they enjoyed this movie, liked itor even thought it was "ok" or "alright"... im so sorry :o(bottom like... don't waste and hour and a half of your life or themoney on a movie ticket to watch this piece of crap film!

Saw was AWESOME!!!!

The last installment was different of sorts, especially the acting. But overall, the Hoffman/Jill storyline and Bobby's story worked well side-by-side. I wish Dr. Gordon and Jigsaw were featured more in the film, going back to their relationship after the bathroom trap. The ending scene was amazing even if it wasn't a surprise. In the end, Saw: the final chapter may not have satisfied everyone for the plot or gore, but at least it went out with a bang.

VWstarwars 2012-05-17 15:27:26

Awesome Finale to the Series!

Really great sequel and fantastic conclusion for the series. It hasbeen interesting seeing these characters interact and weave thoughthese films. It's sort of like you don't know who will be coming innext from which one of the past and your curious as to how Jigsaw hasmanipulated them. We also see long running characters continue on withJigsaw being the most constant, though we do see Cary Elwes again andrevisit some post nastiness from the original.Though there have been a couple of "Saw" movies that have only been soso, this one really does hold up as a great conclusion. The addition ofthe 3D format has helped this gory exercise in brutal gadgets andmodern medieval torture contraptions. We see impaling, stabbings, piercings, hangings, slicings, cooking and rippings . . . There was onebleeding towards the end where the blood was getting that Hammer stylered, almost pinkish tint . . . I'm not sure if that was intentional ornot; I would actually recommend darkening that before releasing on DVDand Blue Ray. However, that's only a minor complaint The acting is decent and works for this film. I won't say there are anyOscar performances because these films are more about style, plottwists, mystery, grueling torture and suspense. The actors do well withtheir parts.I do hope the returns are strong for this film, even though I do wishfor the series to end on this. I realize that they love the cash cows, but it would be nice to see something not completely ran into theground.

Another Saw another Bore

Saw WAS a good series, but three films in and jigsaw is killed, theydecided not to stop, fine so they make a film that is happening at thesame time, it worked but then fans were cheated with the Hoffman storywhich placed him all the way through the series, it didn't work it madeit feel brainless and boring. The 6th film was better after the 4th and5th films so I was actually looking forward to seeing this one. The 3Ddidn't interest me and if I could go back now I wouldn't have wasted mymoney. The first trap isn't promising, bad acting and a stupidunrealistic trap, in the middle of a town... really? I must admit i wasglad to finally have closure on the story of Lawrence, but even hisperformance quality was nothing compared to the first film. Now to thetraps, they are possibly the worst in any film, they arn't really wellthought out and don't really have creativity, the traps are the centerof Saw so this made the film worse. The ending is where fans of Sawhave been cheated again, we all know of the rumours that Lawrence isstill alive, that it was him who placed the key behind Michaels eye allthe way in the 2nd film, so for them to use this made me want to laugh. Why would Lawrence help Jigsaw after he made him cut off his own foot, its unrealistic and i think they tried to just please fans whichfailed. I am so glad that this is possibly the end of the Saw seriesbecause they should have stopped after the 3rd one.

John DeSando 2012-05-16 18:04:04

Cheesy

Almost everyone paying a 3D price to see Saw #7 (Saw 3D) knows that theadmission includes cheesy sets, wrong-color red, non-sequitur scenes, screaming babes, and a hero who goes through a series of gruesome teststo save someone he loves, usually to no avail. The new element is bodyparts hurtling out to where you are, a perk that wears not well and notlong.Murderer Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) survivors convene in support group towork out their legacy of trauma at the hands of the master. The leaderof the group, Bobby (Sean Patrick Flanery), has allegedly survivedJigsaw but brings baggage that will ensure the bloody enjoyment of theblood-thirsty audiences. It may be a warning that this iteration paysno real respect to the other six Saws by having Bell appear onlybriefly.Saw 3D seems to reprise most of the creative torture motifs of theprevious six installments (although I am no expert because seeing anyone a second time would be akin to the torture on the screen). Yet, Iam moved by the dramatic possibilities of Dantean punishments, wherebythe subject painfully dies according to alleged sins. For instance, apublicist is dispatched with three pointed rods through her vocalchords and mouth, with the hero yelling in frustration that she shouldhave "shut the f___ up" while he tries to save her. Hint: the more shescreams the less likely she is to survive, so not screaming would be adistinct advantage. Difficult for a PR type.Need I say more about the melodramatics and less-than-actors-equityacting, neither a priority when your purpose is to out Jackass Jackass3D. However it could be a strategy to have a lower order "B film" forthe nostalgic effect.Nothing else in the film merits mentioning—it's all pretext fortorture, dismemberment, and death, subjects that grow old very quickly.I'm betting this is not the final chapter, and when the next one comes,I'll pass the responsibility for reviewing to my partner. This isenough torture for a year.

Let's be honest- it's not the twist that's the problem

Let me tell you my personal taste about saw series so far. Saw 1 was original and new, and I knew there'd be Saw 2. Great. Saw 2is just my style with house and stuff. It was great. Saw 3, first timestrong gore and filling in the holes as a bridge. The twist isdifferent, but it's not bad. I enjoyed it. Saw 4, yes, was a bitstupid, but I just didn't see it. Moving on. Saw 5, lack of developmentand all, but hey, it was fun for a midway. Saw 6? Great story, emotion, everything. Within twist instead of a big picture, but it alsodelivered Jill vs Hoffman. Now, this "3D" one...As a fan, it's a bit of a disappointment. I dounderstand that this was the ONLY way to logically end the serieswithout being too far stretched and ridiculous just for the sake oftwist. Yes, but that's not the problem. If it LED up to that, if itdeveloped up to that, without too much distraction and instead withfocused, concentrated, at the edge story and impact, I would've walkedaway happy.First, it didn't have nearly as many emotional conflicts or developmentas saw 6. It was here at one point, there at other, back to here, regressing, and suddenly all the way over there...I couldn'tconcentrate. It was like watching an animal pushing a random button, trying to guess which one he'll go for next. Every trap was a new moviefor me; let's put it that way. It seems so separate and discontinuous. The story itself was loose and all over the place with just randomfill-ups and behind stories without a Saw 6 style of concentratedwithin plot or overall big picture Saw 3 style. What was the point ofthis, that, and this? There are way too many distractions. Not to mention how "illogical" parts of the movie that USUALLY goesunnoticed just pops up like a darn 3D to us when those distractorsexist. And even if there were no distractors, some devices were justhumor. Jokes. I see as the series goes on, science improves as well. Let's be honest. This is not the best of the series, ESPECIALLY if Ihave to have high standards (due to this being the LAST). I still loveit as a series and I still enjoyed the movie, but they could've donebetter. If the twist was going to be logical and what we expected it tobe, then they should've concentrated on intensity build up andcharacter development with emotional conflicts and originality andunforgettable setups of traps, even. I've already heard there will be Saw 8. I don't know; who knows. ButI've heard of it, and if they're really considering, they shouldn'ttell us that the movie will be the last; that'll just leave us havingtoo-high expectations.Watch it for the sake of finishing the series- but let's just enjoy themovie with blank state and feel relief of getting what we expected.

Should have ended on Saw 4

Let's be honest, it should have ended with Saw 3, but the sequel stilldelivers.Sae 5? predictable from minute 5.Saw 6? yawn Saw 7? poor CGI (bowels look fake even in a RMVB version),mediocre acting, reused plot (someone has to go through several testsin a given amount of time to save someone... deja vu!). Awful, pathetic, uninspired ending. Let me tell you something else: I ve readthat they are already filming Saw 8 and it will be all flashbacks.Given the crappy ending of Saw 7 which, by the way, is quite an openending, I bet all my money that there will be a Saw 9 and 10.What else to say? thank God I didn't pay for any of the movies. My advice: watch it on TV or download it.Nothing else to say...

"The Finale, and A Good One"

After a disappointing performance at the box office with "Saw 6" in 2009, the producers wisely decided that the seventh installment in the "Saw" franchise would be its last. People simply expressed a disinterest in the "Saw" series of films after the sixth. This is nothing new in the horror genre; many other scary films like "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" suffered from the same fate as "Saw": overexposure of a great product at the box office. The studio wondered how to bring the audience back for the final installent of "Saw 7" and the decision was made to make it in 3D. Also, it was announced heavily in the press that this 3D version would be the finale. Obviously both ideas worked wonderfully as "Saw 3D" became the #1 movie at North American cinemas Halloween weekend 2010 raking in an impressive $24,200,000. This made more than $10,000,000 than "Saw 6". The story is pretty much the same as other installments in the "Saw" series; people are kidnapped by the maniacal Jigsaw and are put into torture chambers to realize how lucky they were with their lives. The propose reason for killing these victims is due to the fact they took their lives for granted. Not for those who have a weakness for gore, "Saw 3D" is exciting, involving, well-acted, and a thrill-ride. If you enjoyed the other "Saw" films "Saw 3D" will satisfy your thirst! Cary Elwes who played a doctor in the original reprises his role in this outing, so his perfromance is a good bookmark for the franchise.

Sawed Off

The Saw franchise has been deteriorating since the first movie at arapid pace. The first film had Jigsaw putting two men into a situationwhere they would have to do something to survive. Each had anopportunity to survive and it was a test (a brutal one) to force thatperson to do something to change their way of life and move forward.Saw was not about guts and gore. Along came the usual Hollywood B.S.and Saw degraded into another hack-em/slash-em franchise. Everything isdesigned to show more ingenious ways to kill someone with a huge lackof storyline. The thing that bothers me the most is how innocents arenow being killed left and right. How one person has to save others orthey die and that other "victim" has no opportunity to save themselvesor an explanation why they are there without a way to redeemthemselves. The latest installment has an innocent wife being part ofthe butchery for no reason. The essence of the movie is gone and it isjust another teenage hack-me-up movie.

We might have Saw this one before

Saw #7, the supposed final chapter of ridiculously elaborate traps and gory redundancy. It does add up to some fairly awesome, sinister fun. Not much to really hack or slash this particular one away from the rest of the bloody pointless franchise, aside from the visual 3-D gimmicks. Don't be expecting some deep, revealing closure to give the entire story some greater meaning or purpose. But it does have a higher budget (17 million) and delivers plenty of blood and repulsive human carnage. Anything less would just be barbaric. You will see some familiar faces here, but the main new character is Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery). He achieved quasi-celebrity status by falsely claiming to have survived one of Jigsaw's traps. Bad idea to mock a homicidal lunatic, as Bob's lies will soon become a reality. In case you somehow don't know what's in store here, there is plenty of hacksaws ripping flesh, buzzsaws chopping off limbs, and circular saws viscerating all hope from sapless victims. There are some other deadly traps where survival is just not looking too promising. It's some good gooey pleasure for you morbid gorehounds, lots of graphic entrails removal and unpleasant disembowelment to make you wince in delight. You timid viewers should definitely avoid this deranged adventure, of course. As far as the 3D goes, it does look kinda cool I suppose but it doesn't add much to the overall experience. In fact, it detracts from the realism quite a bit.So overall it's more of the same here. This final Saw delivers exactly what you should expect. Not exactly an incredible way to close out the franchise, but there really isn't much more you can do here. Fun, but not much new. 3.5 stars
