a drama definitely worth seeing

'Rush' is a very powerful and moving drama complimented by some of thegreatest acting performances of the stars' careers. Patric and Leigh arethe most notably outstanding actors as a duo of undercover narcotic policeofficers delving into the illegal drug world of a small town in Texas.There were a few problems, though, in this film. Small parts of the film'sdialogue are flawed and the pace gets too choppy at many points.Nevertheless, 'Rush' remains a great example of what dramatic scenes andacting should be. Highly recommended for drama movie lovers.

This movie has the best continuous handheld scene as an opening, which pulls the viewer into the heart-breaking nightmare that unfolds over the course of the film.The only distinction between the "good guys" and the "bad guys" are their intentions, which become blurred and distorted by drug addiction.The bond between the two police officers is very moving, yet tragic. This true story will stun you, as you watch to see what happens from scene to scene, waiting for the next teardrop to fall.

Classic Drug Movie

This review is from: Rush (Widescreen Edition) (DVD) Rush is not your typical drug movie. This is a story of two undercover narcotic agents ( Jason Patric and Jennifer Jason Leigh) and how they are trying to catch a local kingpin in the act. They go deep undercover and actually start to become addicted themselves. Greg Allman's almost silent role is interesting to watch b/c he plays the part so perfect. Patric and Leigh believable portrayals are the key indgrediant to this film. Eric Clapton also supplies a heartwrenching score that touches every last blue nerve you have. Rush is worth a viewing!

Feelings towards the movie RUSH

I was about 21 when i first saw the movie Rush.. and i just fell inLove (well maybe not love, but close..) with Jason Patric. The mixbetween him and Jennifer Jason Leigh was wonderful. And adding SamElliot to the show was like icing on the cake. Then adding Max Perlichand Gregg Allman gave this movie the perfect cast. It was a movie thatpeople could relate to b/c the writers and directors didn't dress it upto be something that it wasn't. They made a real life situation seemnot only realistic, but interesting and informative as well . I feltlike i was there with them the whole time, going through the motionslike they were. I've watched this movie many times and it is by far myfavorite movie,, never have i found a movie that can match the feelingsthat this one gives me. I say great job to all who where involve. It isan amazing movie and a must see. Truly what a movie should be. Thanksfor listening, Angel

Dark and disturbing

Intense, riveting look at the heroin business, as cops Patric and Jason-Leigh get sucked into their under cover roles. Look fast for Greg Allman as a smack dealer. But be warned, this movie has got some real unhappy moments!!!

RUSH is GREAT!!

RUSH is sexy, fun and believable. It is everything that the recent SALTON SEA should have been. Interesting and human characters on the wrong side of the tracks and their very credible dilemnas about being their.It also has Gregg Allman looking all sexy.RUSH is definately a must own for crime film buffs.

dvd case damaged

This review is from: Rush (Widescreen Edition) (DVD) The dvd was supposed to be in good as new condition, but when I received the dvd, the case looked like it had been in water. The case was in very bad shape. The dvd itself worked fine.

Emotional side of work

Saw this in 1991 and loved it then. Watched it again last night and still feel the same. Great job by Jason Patric and JJL. Very emotional portrayals of well done characters. I am no movie critic but I do love this gritty movie.

Generation X Must!

This movie has nothing new as far as plot. It's a story as old as time.Whatmakes gravy of this flick is the acting. Many of the roles in this pictureare played by next to nobody's. Basically, your standard issue supportingsupporting actor. Regardless I enjoyed a astounding performance by SamEliott, William Sadler and especially Max Perlich who has had us all goingsince 'Gleaming the Cube.' Now that I aged myself. This movie came at apoint in our generation when we were ready to lift the burden ofReganomicsand The earlier, less deadly strain, of the Bush virus. This movie notonlyopenly portrays drug use, it embraces it. Many movies such as 'Requiem foraDream,' 'Trainspotting,' and 'Leaving Las Vegas' owe patronage to 'Rush'forbreaking the Conservative mold on drug use in cinema. Basically all we hadwas Spicoli walking out of a smoke filled V-Dub saying 'Aloha, Mr. Hand.'Remember movies such as 'Days of Wine and Roses' where American addictionsare outllined skin tight. Go figure it took a movie about cops doing thedeed to break the mold. Of course this movie placed a delayed promotionformodern flicks such as 'Training Day' and of course 'NARC.'Bottom Line : The movie will tend to drag as most drug movies do. I'm sureif you induce fore mentioned, it won't drag. Beyond that, ExcelentDirecting, Exquisite soundtrack by the (at moment mourning) Clapton, andmost deffinitely a must for those who appreciate fine acting, so much youforget they're actors (which has become recently rare). Heck, I bought itat Best Buy for $7.50, worth at least three times that.

Portrays the Drug Scene 100%

As an ex-addict (who am I a fooling, I'll always be an addict forlife), this movie plays to exactly how an addict works in life. Youwill do whatever you have to do to get that high. Whether it be coke,heroin, speed, etc. this movie portrays it perfectly. Once you havedone heroin, there is no turning back. Yes, it is that addictive. I'mnot a big coke fan, but Meth (Speed)is damned addictive and good luckgetting off of it once you have started. This movie portrays thisperfectly, as Jennifer J. Leigh is going through the carpet andsnorting whatever Meth she has found (I've done the same and it is aterrible thing).The message of this movie is perfectly clear. Do NOT put yourself inthe position to get strung out on any of this stuff. It will ruin yourlife, like it ruined mine.Is there anything better than a shot of heroin? No...There is not. Isthere anything better than being high on Meth? No, there is not. STAYAWAY FROM IT ALL OR IT WILL WRECK YOUR LIFE AS IT DID MINE!!!Drugs are a great escape until you find out it is too late and in up inrehab (which I did). Even after rehab I went back to using. Yep....Itis that hard a habit to break.I am in a Methadone clinic now, but getting close to getting out.Bottom line? Don't mess with any of this stuff if you want to keep aclean life.God bless.

gripping drama

I Thought This Movie Was Such A Great Movie. I Don't Like Most Drug Movies Because They Seem Really Dragged Out But Not This Movie. This Movie Was A Example Of What A Drug Movie Should Be. An Interesting Look Into How Bad Drugs Can Be And Two Cops. This Movie Is Really Sad But I Loved It. My Favorite Thing About This Movie Is That It Was Based On A True Story And It Has One Of Eric Claptons Greatest Songs On The Soundtrack.

Awesome movie!

Outstanding movie about undercover drug work with Jason Patric (In theValley of Elah) and Jennifer Jason Leigh (Miami Blues, Margot at theWedding).Producer Lili Fini Zanuck (Driving Miss Daisy, Cocoon) directs herfirst film and does a great job of keeping the action moving as wedelve into the sordid world of those who build cases against drugdealers and see the danger that they themselves are in. It was arevealing and tense film with outstanding performances by Patric andLeigh.With Sam Elliott (The Big Lebowski, The Golden Compass) and GreggAllman in his only movie.

"what the f**k do you thing you're doin'?" "I'm doin' my job'

It doesn't matter what your job is, life is alot more complicated than thestereotypical social commentary on it. In that sense, anyone can relate tothis film. What you hope for from a movie is that it will talk to you, willspeak to you, just as you hope for when you meet a new person. You hopethey'll send you a message, tell you that they see life something like theway you do, and in that you find a comfort from the terrifying experience ofexistence, a relief from that cosmic lonliness. Life gnaws at you, gets toyou, takes you right to the edge, and then you have to shake it off and "getup on your feet and walk". Brilliant film. I'm a better person for havingseen it.

awesome movie

jason patrick has been great ever since he did the lost boy's. one of the greatest vampire movies of all time. and jennifer jason leigh!! omg remember the movie single white female with brigette fonda? and of course probably her first role[don't know] fast times!! yes this movie is a great drug movie! brings back old memories lol. clay
