While hes deep undercover in New York, DEA agent Shane Tanner, the son of a legendary cooler named Dalton, learns that his uncle Nate Tanner got beat up by a group of men because he doesnt want to sell the Black Pelican, his bar in Tyree, Louisiana. Shane takes off for Louisiana to find out who attacked Nate. Shane decides to stay in Nates house for the time being, and run the Black Pelican in Nates absence, much to the dismay of former Black Pelican cooler Bill Wild Bill Decarie. Wild Bill wants to buy the Black Pelican since its located in a prime location for running drugs. The Black Pelican is close to the border, its between Florida and Texas, and its in an area where drugs can be smuggled pretty much undetected. But Shane doesnt want to sell, and damages the numerous thugs that Bill sends his way. Also, Dalton was murdered years ago, and Shane still wonders who killed Dalton. When Shane was a rookie state trooper in Tyree, Shane had come home from work one night, and found Dalton fatally shot. After that, Shane left town and became a DEA agent. Now, Wild Bills boss, Miami crime syndicate kingpin Victor Crost, decides that its time to handle matters personally, because Wild Bills men are not doing a good job of it. Shane is soon faced with impossible odds and a low number of staff members at the Black Pelican. To rid Louisiana of Victor, Wild Bill, and their organization, Shane teams up with local school teacher Beau Hampton, who is a regular at the Black Pelican.

Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "Road House 2: Last Call". They represent actual movie quality.
The original Road House was a classic cheesy 80s movie, which althoughit didn't have anywhere near award worthy writing or acting, was a veryenjoyable and popular film, largely due to the presence of star PatrickSwayze and the great supporting cast, along with some excellent fightscenes and eye candy.16 years later, and MGM / Sony attempts to re-create the magic whichleft us all quoting one liners and reciting the three rules ofbouncing... with a movie which quotes all the original's best oneliners and recites the three rules. Were this an amateur fan made film, it would be seen as a loving homageto one of the most popular of Swayze's movies. As a professionally madefilm, it falls flat on it's face right into the DVD Bargin Bin, withits continual reuse of lines and plot from the original movie becomingmore of an annoying sign of lack of originality rather than coolreferences to the original.Having said that, with new lines such as "I'm gonna kill you just likeI killed your father" no wonder the screenwriters decided to rehashmuch of the original script.I knew this was never going to be anything special, being a Straight toDVD Sequel, but I had at least hoped that there might be a couple ofnew ideas and fresh things included to live up to the Road House name, but what you get is simply just a 2006 remake of the same film, with alittle narcotics added in.Were I the director, I'd have removed all references to the first filmso as not to tarnish the original and it's characters. As it is, we gotPatrick Swayze's character now supposed to be dead (killed off screenin a lame way by Jake Busey) and his brother and son now the maincharacters, who strangely enough have completely different surnames. My favourite part was that Dalton's 'son' drove the same car his fatherdid, a genuinely cool homage, although it was later ruined by havingthe car meet its end EXACTLY the same way as its predecessor did. That's a good example of how this film goes too far in includingsequences and ideas from the '89 movie. Also of course who can forget the legendary moment where Wild Billpromises to kill Shane "just like I killed your father" and thenproceeds to attempt to dispatch him in a completely different manner.Amazing writing there. I see Schaech is listed as co-screenwriter.Stick to acting, or preferably, nothing.Overall though, this is an OK film if there's nothing else to watch andyou want to turn your brain off for an hour and a half, or if youhaven't seen the first Road House, but hardcore fans of Swayze'sclassic will be totally disappointed almost to the point of feelinginsulting at how much of a rip off this movie is of the first. Assomeone once suggested as an alternative subtitle for this film, "EvenJeff Healy is glad he won't be seeing this one!" Stick to the originalRoad House and relive the good old Swayze days!
Roadhouse has become an inarguable cult classic. It was well made, had some decent actors in it, had some good fight sequences, hot women, and was tongue in cheek funny (whether the latter was intended or not.) Roadhouse 2 is a by-the-numbers sequel in almost every sense. It is basically the same as its namesake only not as good. It was a shame that the film-makers were unable to get Patrick "Dalton" Swayze to commit to making the sequel to reprise his role, if nothing else as a mentor to the next generation of world-famous bouncers. In this era of direct to video sequels of older movies in the attempt to create new "franchises" you could do worse than Roadhouse 2.

This review is from: Road House 2 (DVD) This sequel was certainly better than I thought it would be. Will Patton, who plays the brother of Dalton (Pat Swalze) from the original film keeps the sequel together with his excellent acting. The film, however, is just too similiar to the 1st and it kind of loses your interest halfway thru--its so perdictable. The fight scenes are pretty good but any film with Jake Busey in it is just an average B movie---the guy can't act for sure. This film is worth a look--rent it-don't buy it--stick to the original one with better actors.
Well let's be fair. Following up a cult classic like Road House is noeasy task. Now subtract Swayze from the equation and you get amonumental task. So with Patrick not on board whose bonehead idea wasit to proceed anyway and make this piece of garbage? I am going toblame the director who didn't even provide 5 minutes of decent footagethroughout the entire film. I was actually shocked they got Will Patton(Armaggedon) to jump on board. Johnathon Schaech did an OK job with thelead but the writing was atrocious. Turning down his partner brunettebombshell (Crystal Mantecon) in the film's first 5 minutes made me wantto eject it right there. But I stuck with the film hoping to catch aglimpse of that great cheesy humor that worked so well with the DoubleDuece. No such luck. The cover of the DVD is hilarious, they show thesetwo stacked blondes who make one 10 second appearance in the film.Costar Ellen Hollman actually puts in a decent performance as well. Butagain the effort is futile in a piece of garbage and disgrace such asthis. Has Jake Busey ever been cast in a decent film? Could they notpull at least a few actors in from the first film for some kind ofnostalgia treatment? Even one of the old bouncers or two, or JeffHealey for a performance would have been nice. Take this film out ofyour Queue immediately. -LostFlix
Full of action and excitment. The entire cast, although no big names are in the movie they all put on a great preformance. I would highly recommend this movie if you like action and excitment. They could have left Jake Busey out and replaced him with someone that knows how to act.
In this direct to video sequel to the popular 1989 action hit, DEAagent SHANE TANNER, heads to his uncle's hometown in order to take overas the boss of the Black Pelican roadhouse, after his uncle NATE isbadly wounded by a group of drug runners who were trying to get him tosell the bar. In critical condition at the hospital, the drug runnerssoon find out that Shane will not sell & will gladly fight them ifnecessary to get his point across & soon the bad guys wage war on him &his new found girlfriend, who attempt to fight back or be killed. To betruthful when I first heard that Swayze would not be returning for thissequel, I was a little skeptical on how this was really going to work, but once I sat down to watch it, I found myself enjoying it & acceptingit for what it was, I mean I figured that this wouldn't top theoriginal & I didn't go into the movie expecting it to & instead Ienjoyed it for what it was, a low budget direct to video action sequel, however that's not to say that the film doesn't have it's flaws, mymain gripe with the film was the fact that it's story was pretty muchthe same as in the original, bad guys attempt to take over bar & injureor kill all who dare oppose them, the hero who arrives in town to takethe bad guys down & run the bar himself, the crooked employees, therich bad guys & their low life scum henchmen, the beautiful girl whomthe hero falls in love with & lots of bar fights. Also this sequelfollows the same path as pretty much all direct to video sequels madeto their former theatrical original(s) do & that is this, if you can'tget the lead hero of the previous film to star in the sequel you either(A) Make it an in name only sequel (B) Get another actor to play hispart & hope the audience accepts him as a replacement (C) Make up a newhero & say the other guy left town or (D) Just bump the original herooff, which is exactly what the writers, producers & director of thisfilm did with Patrick Swayze's character DALTON, his character wassupposedly shot & killed by these bad guys, which I guess is okay ifyou want to spruce up the revenge plot that his son takes on these guys& if you want them to appear more dangerous. However this time thelevel of sexuality & violence was toned down, there's less sexuality ¬ as many fights though what we are given is pretty exciting towatch, JOHNATHAN SCHAECH did well as Dalton's son Shane & the bad guyswere well written out & fun to watch, the rest of the actors did fineas well & the film is well directed & the action scenes are tremendous& should keep you on the edge of you're seat, plainly put, if you canaccept the fact that Dalton & his lover (who's fate we are oddly nevertold in this sequel?) from the original had a kid that grew up to be inhis 30's in just 17 years, than you just might like this movie, myadvice is give Schaech a chance, you might like him & his character.Worth a look for fans of the first.***1/2 stars
Hey I was an extra, and only and extra mind you, but I spend three days walking around in a bouncer shirt on the floor of the Black Pelican, worked the cash register, and was told by someone at work who saw it, he didn't see me: "Bounced", he also said the movie was terrivle, but in ending: "I haven't seen it yet!, how could it be without ME in it, of course it was my first extra part"Chester
Let me start by saying you know a film is poorly run when extras makethe cover. With that said, anyone who says this is the worst film everis being dramatic, and anyone who says that the film is great iscompletely delusional. The film "is what it is." And what is that... Amodest budget ($4 million, I estimate) studio sequel. The film isn'tterrible, but for Road House fans it will be a disappointment. And thatbrings me to problem one, just as Dirty Dancing wouldn't been what itwas without Swayze, Road House isn't the same without him. The leadlacks depth, character, and likability to carry the film. I feel thatthe lead was poorly cast and the producers should have bent overbackwards to get Patrick to do it if they were gonna do a sequel. Theother cast was uneven with outstanding actors like Will Patton alongside day players who couldn't act there way out of a paper bag. Busey, who I have seen do great characters seemed like he just mailed it in.Ellen was played well, except for not being believable at all as abayou raised chick. Sherri, the DEA agent at the first bar was hot anda good actress, yet her part was awkwardly small and undeveloped. Thewriter totally missed all opportunities to add depth and interest tothe story and characters. Instead opting for a base one dimensionalfilm. Which leads me to the biggest problem, the script... I got a badfeeling when the credits rolled and there were three script writersseparated by an "and" and an "&." It looked very amateur. And that iswhat the writing was. I heard the original script was better and then arewrite was done and the hard core sucking began. Some cheezy parts ofthe film to watch for are... During the first undercover meeting, theobvious drug deal under the table. "Hey lets meet at a crowded nudeybar, I will pull a block of coke out of my jacket and you pull cash outthen we will slide them under the cocktail table" WAIT! "Make sure tolook cool when you look left and right to make sure no one is looking!"Second, I love it when someone gets shot in the chest and then you seehim sitting up happy as a lark 10 minutes later. There are some nastyediting cuts towards the end of the film especially during fight scenesand when the main character is chasing thru doors and runs into apatron. Which brings me to the realism of the DEA training, I won'tboth to get technical... But jumping thru doors isn't standardtraining... Nor do typical female agents, who bust their butts to makeit in a male oriented field, act like weak characters... Boring! Thanksfor the chauvinistic view Heir Director. There is other stuff I couldteach a course at a school about it... The sped up fighting, the cheezydialogue, the recycled story... etc... But aside from all that you justcannot like ex-Mr. Applegate, he totally lacks the humble zen coolnessthat made Mr. Patrick Swayze such a bad ass. He just strikes me as oneof those 5 foot nothing actors who think they are a bad ass, but justlike Van Damnit he runs into a real bad ass (Chuck Zito in Van Don'tcase) and he gives him a lesson about "badassdom." Therefore, that Ifeel is the major linchpin of the film, if you are a bad ass you are abad ass, you don't have to try. Example: Swayze! If you are a prettyboy who tries to hard to prove you are a bad ass among other things...Then well... You are why your audience, the Average Joe... Will notrent this film, and if they do they will write reviews like this.
This in-name-only sequel to the classic ROADHOUSE has a DEA agent (JohnSchaech) coming to the rescue of his uncle (Will Patton) when the uncleis badly beaten up by a local drug gang, headed by that Wooden Indianof an actor Jake Busey. The gang wants to take over the poor guy's barfor nefarious reasons. Patrick Swayze is sorely missed here. Schaech isan indifferent actor and not convincing as an ass-kicking lawman. Thefights here are intermittent and not nearly as powerful or vicious asthe fights in ROADHOUSE. The finale is equally weak. Some good-lookingwomen keep things afloat for a bit. There is a terrific fight between aDaisy Duke-type who turns out to be handy with both fists and weapons, and a nasty-looking babe of Busey's who is handy with sharp implements. There's also a scantily dressed gal at the beginning who is a fellowagent of Schaech's, but unfortunately she never reappears in the film.Too bad. She does a brief lap dance for Schaech that had my fullattention. If nothing else, ROADHOUSE 2 kicks off with a strip clubscene that comes darned close to what a real strip club looks like, arare circumstance in any movie. The rest is snooze time.
this movie is a pile of rubbish , and to try and base it the first isjust a farce , the main thing that let it down for me was the usage ofthe one liners out of the first one , which once said by classic actorssuch as Sam Elliot can not be reproduced in any way , i mean whenDalton phones wade in the 1st , and he ends the call with stay coolthat was great , but when the chump rings the DEA agent back home andhe ends the call with stay cool it doesn't have the same ring nowreally does it , there are other ones but I cant be bothered to post emup , but I hope u get my drift ,they should of named this roadhousewannabe ..........
Road House 2: Last Call is set in in a small town in Lousiana whereNate Tanner (Will Patton) owns a bar named The Black Pelican which aviolent drug dealer named Wild Bill (Jake Busey) wants as it's in theperfect location to smuggle drugs through the swamps undetected, however Nate doesn't want to sell & stands up against Wild Bill & hisgang of dealers. To get Nate out of the way Wild Bill tries to kill himbut only ends up wounding him & putting him in hospital, his DEA agentnephew Shane Tanner (Jonathon Schaech) hears about his uncle & decidesto visit him. Shane quickly learns about Wild Bill & his drug dealing,Shane take temporary control of The Black Pelican & embarks on an allout war with the dealers to clean the town up...Directed by Scott Ziehl this is a sequel to the Patrick Swayze actionthriller Road House (1989) which I incidentally saw less than a weekago so I can compare the two against each with some authority, I wasnever a big fan of the original Road House apart from someunintentionally funny moments & I actually think Road House 2 is abetter film. The script has Patrick Swayze's character's from theoriginal dead & gone after being murdered sometime between the twofilms & his son Shane (why is Shane's second name Tanner & not Daltonafter his father?) fill his boots & gets to clean up a small town allby himself. There are numerous references to Dalton (the three rulesfor instance) in Road House 2 but otherwise there's nothing connectingthe two films at all. The original delt with extortion while here it'sdrug dealers, the general plot is similar to the original with a loneman driving into town & getting himself deeper into trouble than hecould have expected & eventually takes on all the bad guy's & saves theday. The pace is brisk, it never lets up, there's enough fights &action to keep one satisfied & there's also some funny moments as wellwith some priceless dialogue especially from Jake Busey as Wild Billwho is a hoot here. The plot is nothing that special, it tells a storyI suppose but no-one will be surprised by anything that happens &there's a bit too much of an effort to tie things together & get areally happy ending. While no masterpiece I was actually surprised athow much I liked Road House 2, as a simple & straight forward actionfilm you could do a lot, lot worse.I really liked the action scenes in Road House 2, thank god the makersdidn't go for that horrible machine gun edited shaky camera crap whereyou can't see a damned thing. Nope, here in Road House 2 everything isclear, well shot, well edited & well choreographed & the fights hereare some of the best I've seen in a direct to video flick, seriouslythere's no shaky camera shots or quick editing anywhere & for that Isalute the makers of Road House 2. While not as gay as the originalRoad House there's still a lot of topless bodies on show here, luckilya lot of them this time around are female so the boy's & girls willboth be happy. The character of Wild Bill is great, he sits in ajacuzzi talking drugs while he has a naked girl either side of him, hewears some of the silliest looking shirts ever & he's just a greatvillain.Originally to be filmed in New Orleans the location was moved afterHurricane Katrina hit although it was still shot in Louisiana. Theacting isn't bad I suppose, it's not great but it's not bad. JonathonSchaech isn't leading man material, Jake Busey looks like he's having aball while Ellen Hollman is very cute as the token love interest.Road House 2: Last Call is a pretty fun violent low budget direct tovideo action thriller that I liked quite a lot, sure it's predictable &silly & is no classic but what it is it's pretty good.

Man stop making sequels to great movies. The original was a great moviethat was over the top with fights, sex, and one of the coolest charactersthat graced the screen in the 90's. The story is believable as if yourbeen to bars in the outs of the south you would know. But here comesthis piece of junk Roadhouse 2 Last Call. Lets just hope they areserious with the title and never make another Roadhouse ever again.Itdoesn't have the charm of the characters of the original nor is thestory really believable. The Story is more of a Steven Segal typeaction that even though Roadhouse 2 is a B movie it still doesn't clickas some B movie action still sales the movie no matter how cheesy itis. The only reason to rent not buy this movie is that we finally findout the one question is left from the original Roadhouse. PatrickSwayze's character Dalton, is Dalton his first name or last name? WellI'll save you the $4.00 rental fee. Dalton is his first name as inDalton Tanner. NEVER MAKE ANOTHER ROADHOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!
For all the people who gave this film a ten, you should be rounded upand shot. I can understand a varying taste, but this film was a bomb.Allegedly, Patrick Swayze was originally supposed to play the barowner. I wish that had been true because that character is very awesomein this film, but pales in comparison to Swayze. Also, I find itannoying that the film needed to compensate for him absence byreferencing his murder so many times. (I don't know which I find moredisturbing: the over-using of references, or the fact they killed off acinematic hero.) With Swayze gone, this film has virtually noconnection to the first. It does not even take place in the same bar.In my personal opinion, writing the last few references out of thescript and giving this film a new title (rather than being a sequel)might have given it some box office time. It does, however, have amidget and stars the guy from "Doom Generation".And since the director is best known for "Cruel Intentions 3", I guessa "Road House 2" shouldn't be a shock. The only redeeming quality to this film (besides the midget) was thehumor of Jake Busey. While not supposed to be funny, seeing Jake lookand act just like his father and be a rap-listening gangster was justso silly to me. Oh, and there are some nice looking girls, too, whowere probably lied to about what this would do for their careers. Sorrygirls, you're going straight to video.I would say rent this if you're a die-hard Road House fan, but thetruth is this film does nothing but tarnish the good name of theoriginal. Yes, there's some great fights (the same guy gets beat uplike six times) but nothing like the scenes in Road House.
This is not a horrible movie. Where it misses is where Roadhouse hit. The origional was so stupid and so goofey that it was actually hilarious in its 'badness'. This movie is just an ok straight to DVD movie. It is worth a watch if you might be a fan of the origional but it is hardly in its (the origionals) class. It is just not stupid enough.
I saw the behind the scenes featurette on the special edition ofRoadhouse. My first thought was no way a sequel could be made with outSwayze, no way, then Jonathon Schaech came into my bar( yea, I wasbouncing when Roadhouse came out then and now, how sad) this pastweekend and we got a chance to talk. He is a real cool guy. A regularjoe. Just on that meeting I rented the movie. I tell ya' it's not bad.The fight scenes are outstanding, although not too realist (not smartto kick high), but close , they are very well done. Schaech is veryfast, I doubt they used camera tricks, he is a natural. The acting isgood; I wish Jake would have gone a little bit more over the top. Thewomen are all hot, the fight scene between the two females at the end, nice, very nice. All and all it's not bad, a worthy sequel and come on,Will Patton is in it, that is just icing on the cake.
i love the movie it was the second part of the first roadhouse. i think that they need to put it back out in the stores.
road house 2 is actually a fairly decent movie.it has none of theactors from the first one,but is almost as good.the fight scenes arevery well choreographed, and the acting is good.some people havesuggested jake busey as the main baddie, overacts at times.i believethis to be intentional and shows how much fun busey was having incharacter.he had the best lines in the movie.the storyline is nothingnew.bad guy wants to use bar for base of operations for drug smugglingendeavours.bouncer attempts to keep him and his buddies out.(there isactually a bit more to this, but i won't give it away)i thought willpatton did a good job in his role.there is of course lots of action, with many fight scenes.the characters are not overly developed, but theyusually aren't in this type of movie.i was entertained by thismovie, and would watch it again. 6.5stars out of ten
This review is from: Road House 2 (DVD) Don't expect a grandslam on the likes of the original with the one and only Patrick Swayze(RIP) because it just isn't going to happen in this movie. The characters bleed red, the romance is awkward yet works and the action almost is a blur. Fortunately there's no overplaying the DEA factor in this movie and they stay mostly in the background. You also don't get the typical suicidal loner driven by a need to beat the drug beast, there's no grand conspiracy theories here but revelations built upon revelations. Finally we have a woman who kicks ass as good as the men in this endeavor but this is still a B grade movie and should be viewed as such. That being said everything else works, the protege has every trace of the same steady nature his father has along with the violence(although oddly enough there's an open ended question of the who the mother is), his uncle and g/f have the same spunk of the previous film yet thankfully less of the pacifistic qualms when it comes to getting down and dirty.
