Corny, Lame & A Good Ending To The Nerd Legacy

After viewing all the films in the nerd series I'd have to say thatRevenge Of The Nerds IV Nerds In Love is a lame yet decent conclusionto the popular franchise. It was nice to see some of the original castfrom the 1st and 3rd movie return there was some funny moments and cuteromance but it lacked the raunchy jokes and hilarious pranks that madethe 1984 classic a success. This is a made for TV film so it had to bemade appropriate for younger viewers. In the final story of the nerd saga Dudley Booger Dawson (Armstrong) isabout to marry his rich Omega Mu girlfriend Jeanie (Bohrer) onValentine's Day however his father in law to be Aaron Humphrey isn'tthrilled about a nerd joining the family as he thinks it could ruin hischances of getting into politics. When his friends Lewis, his wifeBetty, Lamar, Takashi, Ogre, Stan Gable, Lewis's nephew Harold & hisfriends arrive their partying style drive the bride's more dignifiedguests away. Intent on stopping the wedding he enlists the help of hissnobby son in law Chip (Davies) and a private investigator. In anotherplot Lewis & Betty are awaiting the arrival of their unborn son andBetty is near the end of her pregnancy as the big day approaches. At the wedding shower Chip announces that Booger fathered a daughterout of wedlock with a young woman years ago from Sandusky Ohio, ofcourse it's a lie to prevent the happy couple from going down theaisle. So the nerdy gang will have to fight once again to prove thateven someone who's different deserves to be loved. The wedding dayarrives, as the ceremony begins Betty goes into labour and Chip'sdeception is revealed when Heidi admits the truth that she's not hisdaughter and was drafted from an orphanage. Everyone including Jeanie'ssister Gaylord (Tuck) throws him out for good, Aaron then apologizes toBooger and his friends for his behaviour and gives his blessings. By the end of the film Booger & Jeanie are married and plan to adoptHeidi, Lewis & Betty have a healthy baby boy. The final scene shows thenewlyweds sitting with their friends, and Lewis says "It's gonna be agreat year" the same line he used in the first movie.for fans who enjoy silly laughs watch Revenge Of The Nerds IV Nerds InLove

Absolutely, positively awful, even by TV sequel standards (1 - 10)

I won't waste a lot of time on this one except to say that this has gotto be one of the worst sequels to a good movie I've ever seen, sittingthrough it was about as fun as having a tooth slowly drilled for 88minutes. It is completely mindless, unimaginative and without even theslightest bit of humor, it is amazing how an otherwise talented castcan be totally nullified by amateurish writing. Even Curtis (aka"Booger") Armstrong can't save the day, he seems to aimlessly wanderthrough it with a pleading look in his eyes, as if to beg "PLEASE Justgive me one funny thing to do!" In fact most of the cast looksembarrassed to be there, and they should be, I just hope they were paidwell and fed a decent lunch for their humiliation. 1 out of 10, asuperb example of why TV is sometimes known as "The Idiot Box"

The last and the worst in the Nerd series

I bought the "atomic wedgie" edition of Revenge of the Nerds, it hadall the sequels in it, so I watched Revenge of the Nerds 2 and 3 todaybefore the fourth one, and I was actually surprised. Despite their badrating, I really enjoyed them, sure they weren't as good as the first, but they had their laughs. So I was looking forward to Revenge of theNerds IV: Nerds in Love, because I figured that if I liked the othersequels, I would like this one, but it turned out to be different.Despite the fact that there were a couple of laughs, for the most partthis was just a recycled story that really didn't work or click as wellas the other stories did.Booger is finally settling down, that's right, the perverted nosepicker is tying the knot. Now he's not just marrying some girl, but shecomes from a very important and rich family where her father isinvolved in politics. But her father and brother in-law absolutely hateBooger on site and are anti-nerd. So naturally they want to ruin thewedding by getting some dirt on Booger. But his friends, including bestman, Lewis, are determined to make sure that everything goes smoothlyand give the father and brother in-law a new perspective on nerds inlove.Revenge of the Nerds IV: Nerds in Love isn't the worst movie on Earth, but it's just the worst movie in the Nerds series, so I really wouldn'trecommend it. It just wasn't needed since the story was so bland andreused from the other films, if it was completely different, it mighthave worked, but it was just the same jokes. However I did laugh acouple times still, I can't help it, these guys do crack me up, so I'mgoing to be kind with my rating, at least I think it is with how muchof a waste of a good story was on this sequel.2/10

Good Conclusion to the Series

"Revenge of the Nerds IV" is a good conclusion to the "Nerds" series. It ends with Booger (who would have imagined it), getting married toJennie. Although Booger has enjoyed A LOT of women, there is noindication that they have slept together. Hints both ways. But Boogeris prepared to change for love. Love does that.I like the pairings, especially Lewis' nephew Harold, with Jennies'aunt. No question about what they do. It ends with Lewis' wife having ababy, and Booger and Jennie planning to adopt a child. As for the otherpairings, who knows. We can dream up our own stories. There is room for a sequel. If anyone knows about one planned, you canemail me atbfithern@yahoo.co.uk

Pretty good but a little behind the other Nerd films

This film is a SMALL step downwards from the other "Nerds" flicks. However,it is still pretty funny. Booger is getting married! Of all the Nerds Iexpected to wed, Booger was last! So....the happy bride is the (MU) daughterof an up-and-coming politician. The father obviously can't let his daughtermarry a NERD! There are attempts to torpedo the wedding and Nerd-ly attemptsto keep it going.Nearly all the previous Nerds are back and are as good as ever! I love theentire Nerds series and this one was only slightly less good than theothers!Rent this sucker today!

Cryptfan2 2013-05-01 08:37:16

For the last time, what was the point of a sequel?

Finally, the Nerds franchise is dead thank god.So, what's the deal with this one? Okay, I'll just flat out admit whatthe film is about, Booger wants to get married, the whole gang comesback with a few exceptions, some prick wants to break up the couple, yadda, yadda, yadda, everyone lives happily ever after.Yeah, sounds like a great film.Everything about it is just so bad, it's actually just as bad as Batman& Robin, trust me, it's that bad.Like the previous film, it tries to be family friendly which I despiseby the way.As usual, the nerds, and the other characters are annoying, the scriptis very bad, I can't say anymore. But I will ask you this, have younoticed that the franchise had run out of ideas? I'm surprised Foxnever bothered to do Revenge of the Nerds V: Nerds in Space where theNerds gang decide to go to Pluto or Jupiter, whatever.Overall, thank god the Nerds are dead and they should stay dead.

CaptainChunk 2013-04-30 23:55:33

Oh Come On! Its not that bad!

Nerds, man. Fricking Nerds. This is one of the funniest movie series everman! This one is just sorta like a great reunion movie. Its funny, and itsmore family oriented. I think it would be a good movie to show to my kids,if I had them. The Third one, same thing. Now Booger is my favorite Nerd. To see he's getting some steady ass froma not so ugly Omega Moo is great. Its a nice thing to know that after allthis time, Nerds can still make people laugh and give you a heart warmingfeeling that everyone out there can be loved. This movie isn't as bad as youare lead to believe. The second one was the worst one. This one is prettygood.

Better than the last 2 !!

This movie gets a bad rap. It's actually better than the last 2sequels. But as "Made for TV" sequels go, they could have just madesome piece of sh**. And even though it's not "Gone with the Wind", ithas it's moments. The best thing is the inclusion of the original cast.More so than any of the sequels yet. Hell you had, Betty, Stan,Oger, even U.N. Jefferson. The 3-D parts if you saw it when it aired on Fox,were pretty cool...but there is one thing that just pisses me off!!!I'm glad they brought back Gilbert at the end, but "Who the hell isthis guy??".Everybody else took a little time out of their schedule to,at least make a cameo. Was Anthony Edwards "Too Busy", to stop by andsee some old friends and do that big 2 minute scene. Kudo's to the oneswho did. It made you remember what a great movie the original was and alittle nerd reunion is not such a bad thing. And Mr. "I'm a big-shotE.R. guy" Edwards,...you too were a nerd. Deal with it!!!!!!

Finally, The End

Revenge of the Nerds IV (1994) * (out of 4)Booger (Curtis Armstrong) is about to be married but his futurefather-in-law doesn't like him because (shock) he's a nerd. Soon theother nerds from the first film are back and find themselves in yetanother fight to be accepted as real people. I must admit that thishere is a major step-up from the third film but that's really notsaying much and in the end we're left with yet another cheap,made-for-TV flick that falls flat on its face in terms of badness. Thelack of real laughs is the deadliest thing here as once again theproducer's go through all the trouble of getting the original cast backtogether yet they give them absolutely nothing to work with. Thescreenplay goes for all of the obvious jokes but this time out they'rejust boring and unfunny. Seriously, how many times can we see the samenerds put into the same situation and having the same outcome? I almostdrowned when I was a kid once and I remember struggling in the waterbut of course not being able to do anything since there was nothing tograb onto. No matter how hard I tried it was just a lost cause. Thatthought passed through my head while watching this film because you cantell that the entire cast are trying their hardest to make this thingwork but they simply have nothing to work with and you can't help butsee the entire film go under. Robert Carradine, Julia Montgomery, JamesCromwell and Donald Gibb are just some of the returning crew. TedMcGinley also makes a few quick (and cheap) appearances here. Theentire plot is quite predictable but there are a few minor laughs to behad here but in the end you still have to put this into the really bad, really stupid ideas bracket.

Revenge of the nerds_3

I really liked revenge of the nerds because it really told me something. Nerds are not losers they are actually pretty cool in a way. I really like the movie because they have the Lizzie Mcguire dude.

Peter-82 2013-04-16 03:23:04

The lamest installment

This is the worst of the Nerds series and does not do justice to thequailtyof the first. The film focuses around Boogers marriage to Janey, thedaughter of a "new rich" businessman attempting to enter the politcalscene. The father and son-in-law are essentially the enemies of this film and takeover where the jocks left off in earlier movies. This is the great failureof the film (among many) as we are left wanting that final battle betweenthe jocks and Nerds.Several of the actors who appeared in eariler "Nerds" perform admirablygiven the poor scripting and lack of direction.

VIRGIL 2013-04-15 08:37:18

One the best moves I have ever seen!

I think it is very funy and it has a good lesson that every one needs to learn. That lesson is that you should never pick on people the are diferint than you.

drloveis 2013-04-14 16:08:39

recycled garbage

Everything past part one was progressively worse and worse, and this wasthebottom of the trash bin.The acting was horrible, the plot was a re-hash of the previous 3 movies, and the writing was as smart as 3rd grade "What I Did Last Summer"report. The main reason for the making of the movie was as a broadcasttoken. When the Fox Network originally aired this movie in the United States in1994, it was broadcast with 3D scenes. A little logo would appearon-screento tell you to put on your special 3-D glasses during certain scenes. Theglasses were sold at convienence stores around the time, a marketingtie-infor the occasion. Some of the scenes looked cool in 3-D, like the foodfightand the bachelor party, but it was just a novelty and was only worthseeingonce, which is exactly how many times it was shown in the 3-Dformat.When I die, St. Peter will probably frown on me for wasting the two hoursofmy life that I wasted to watch this crap, when I could have been doingsomething to help mankind instead.

Good sequel....

I just watched the fourth installment in the Nerds series and I must say that I wasn't disapointed. Many of the actors from previous films arebrought back and definatly revive the film, I was shocked to see JamesCromwell in this. Booger and the gang are back!!

Andy 2013-04-11 17:47:00

A Pretty Good Ending!!!

After the third movie in the Nerds saga I wasn't sure this movie would be that good. I was pleasantly surprised after watching this one. Even though you could tell this was a made for tv movie it was much better than the third film. I loved how most of the previous nerds returned in this film including Ogre. It was nice to see the heart to heart between Lewis and Booger. All in all this closed out the series on a really nice note. I have not ranked this movie in my top 500 movies of all time.

A Decent Conclusion To The Franchise

Revenge Of The Nerds IV Nerds In Love isn't as popular or as hilariousas the first film but it manages to provide some laughs and a properending. I saw it on DVD 3 years ago when I bought Revenge Of The NerdsThe Atomic Wedgie Collection, after viewing all four films I found thisone to be a letdown compared to the first movie.Of all the nerds to get married besides Lewis I was surprised thatBooger was the next groom to be, over the years he's enjoyed many womenbut meeting the right girl changes everything. One of my complaintsabout the film is that the characters of Gilbert, Wormser & Pointdexterportrayed by Anthony Edwards, Andrew Cassese & Timothy Busfield wereabsent again. The nerdy gang is back in this funny & final instalment of the series.Love is in the air as Booger Dawson (Armstrong) is about to marry hisOmega Mu girlfriend Jeanie (Bohrer) on Valentine's Day. But when hisfriends Lewis (Carradine), his wife Betty (Montgomery), Lamar (Scott),Takashi(Tochi), Ogre (Gibb), Stan (McGinley) and the rest of the gangarrive their outrageous party style drive away the bride to be'sdignified guests.Even Aaron Humphrey (Bologna) Booger's father in law and republicannominee isn't thrilled about a nerd joining his family so he requiresthe help of his snobby son in law Chip (Davies) and a private detectiveto help stop the wedding. Meanwhile Lewis is awaiting the arrival ofhis first child and Betty is near the end of the last trimester as thebig day approaches.Trouble arises when during the bridal shower Chip informs everyone thatBooger fathered a child 12 years ago when he was a teenager, hedeclares that this accusation has nothing to do with that but with thefact that he's a nerd. So it's up to his friends to save the day andset things straight once more, I loved the food fight scene ,seeingOgre get thrown across the table and hitting the pies upon impact. The wedding day arrives soon Chip's lie falls apart when the girladmits that he got her from an orphanage and that she's not really hisdaughter. Everyone including Jeanie's sister Gaylord (Tuck)throws Chipout, leaving him to swear his own revenge against the nerds, during theceremony Betty goes into labour and gives birth to a healthy baby boy.Booger & Jeanie are married, they plan to start their family byadopting the orphan girl.Revenge Of The Nerds IV Nerds In Love isn't a comedy classic but itmanages to make people laugh.

Actually a 6 but It deserves a better overall rating

The other reviewers are being too harsh on this film. It's amade-for-TV sequel, get over it. It has all original cast and they allhave stayed true to the original characters from the original film.Since it's for television, they aren't able to show nude coeds or makelewd jokes that made the first film so appealing. But hey, you have tohand it, they did well with what they had to work with. It's obviousthey had a low budget and the writers were most likely rushed to pumpout a script. This film is just as fun as its previous incarnations and we get tohang with the characters we've known for over a decade just one lasttime. It's quite possible this movie came out way too late and thewhole Revenge Of The Nerds luster had worn off to a new generationbased on Beavis And Butthead and Ren & Stimpy. This movie was obviouslyseen as a relic of the 80's, much the same was Bill And Ted's BogusJourney was viewed. It's a B-movie, made for TV, has it's funny moments and is reverent tothe original block buster. So go out and get it on Ebay for $2 and ifyou don't like it, well you only lost a redbox rental money.

kevin s 2013-03-29 11:07:46

Neeeeeeerrrdddddddddsssss!!

This was a funny movie with most of the nerds returning for Boogers wedding. Even Ogre is back. I know I lot of people don't think it was funny But I thought it was pretty good. Not quite as funny as the first three but still worth the watch.

dereksimms 2013-03-29 18:40:54

OK way to end it

This movie is not as good as one and two but a real better than three. This had a couple of laughs. This was a movie that started of funny andthen boring. The ending was predictable and pointless. I think thewriters wanted to end it on a bad note. Because if they wanted to endit on a bad note they should have done that with three. So they reallyscrewed up. Again being a fan of the nerd movies this not the best. Soif you want to have a couple of laughs watch this. One more thing forthe fans who liked the first there will be a remake. It want be thatgood so don't get your hope up. Again it was a good not to finish onand stuck to the writers.

Scrumtranquilescent, simply scrumtranquilescent!....?

Revenge of the nerds part 4 is the greatest film I have ever seen. It islike looking into the face of god and having him say "You are my mostwonderous creation.". The movie is so perfect it is beyond humancomprehension and should be viewed as such (additionally pregnant women andviewers with heart conditions should not watch). For those who say Boogerand the gang's antics are trivial, moronic, confounding and beyond thelimits of good taste should move to Canada! I will end with something tothink about, Revenge of the Nerds 5, dare I say?
