This review is from: Push (DVD) Featuring three actors who were not as well known at the time but now are, the movie is filmed in saturated high contrast, pre- instagram, colors, with plenty of action, psychic powers, and good versus evil plot lines. Just wish there had been a sequel.
This review is from: Push (DVD) Wow, Dakota is sooo big. Like the movie, a little complicated but entertaining. I have seen Dakota's film since she started and she's an excellent artist.
Push has enough action and just enough sci-fi fx to make you think this could be real. Nothing is really over the top. Great film, that moved at a good pace and keeps you interested the whole time.
Great ideas, rotten execution.
This movie is one of my favorites. Despite the Amazon review, this movie is not hard to follow. It is full of excitement and suspense. There is never a boring moment. The acting is amazing and Camilla Belle is gorgeous. Dakota Fanning is truly able to show off her talent.I have watched this movie many times and never tire of it. I only wish there had been a sequel.
I had never heard of this movie before. My wife ordered it by chance off of Netflix. The movie was fantastic. Action packed with a Matrix mind bending theme all the way through. I think any negative reviews are from people who have zero imagination. Do yourself a favor and watch this one.
This review is from: Push (Amazon Instant Video) Great movie. Love the action and the story line will be watching this one again. The ease that Amazon made in renting it was great.
This review is from: Push (DVD) Product arrived on time for my husband's birthday. Is in great working order. Thanks
The violence is incessant, the portentousness constant, the opacity rarely penetrated.
Sloppily conceived but directed with flair, Push is bound to split the vote. Look closely and its disparate pieces fit clumsily together; step back and the overall effect has an undeniable allure.
Falls into the clumsy trap of being the presumptive first installment of a franchise.
This review is from: Push [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) This is a great movie, and awesome on Blu-ray! Chris Evans is a great actor and add in super powers and you have a great show! Now they just need to make a sequel!
This is a good movie, but nothing special. In fact I love the sci-figenre, but I found this movie substandard compared to most. I wasmostly confused about the plot. Sometimes, I could not tell what theheck was going on.I really can't describe the plot because I still have no idea what it'sabout. All I know it's about a bunch of watchers, whatever they are.The acting is very good. Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans, and DjimonHounsou were great in this movie.I thought the cinematography was amazing. It should have won a fewawards for that.Overall this is decent, but it could have been better. If the moviedidn't spend time on developing the characters more than the plot, thiswould have been very good. I rate this movie 7/10.
Sci-fi thriller has more style than story; some iffy stuff.
If you want to see a movie about mutants with superpowers, watch any of the X-Men movies or the "Hellboy" movies or "Wanted," any of those six movies is far superior to this.
...a fun thriller that has a couple of tricks up it's sleeve.
From the cover of the DVD, I thought this was going to be anothersuperhero movie, that and also because Chris Evans was in it. Butstill, I decided to give the movie a go. And I am quite glad that Idid."Push" is actually a rather decent thriller and action movie. The movieis driven by a nice story that you get caught up in and you are quicklyand easily introduced to the events and thrown right into the midst ofthe story. That worked out so well.Initially what really thrilled me was that the movie took place in HongKong. That was a trip down memory lane for me, as I used to work andlive there for four years. So it was nice to see places that Irecognized, and I just love that constant buzz and bustle that there isin Hong Kong. The ideas for the various powers that people possess was quite nice andinteresting. However, I was not too keen on the screamers, with theireyes turning all reptilian and being able to blast things withultrasonic sound. But in overall, the concept of the powers and how theskills worked was quite well."Push" have a good list of actors and actresses, and people do greatjobs with their roles. However, I must say that the movie was initiallycarried by Chris Evans (playing Nick Gant), Dakota Fanning (playingCassie Holmes) and Xiaolu Li (playing Pop Girl (the Asian Watcher)).I thoroughly enjoyed "Push" and it was a rather nice surprise of amovie. It even have enough value for a second watching.
This is a great movie. It's really neat seeing "Dakota Fanning" growing up in each movie that she does. The storyline seems simple at first but at times things can get a bit complicated but everything becomes clear at the end. To me this movie reminds me a little bit of the TV series "Dark Angel". So if you liked that show or if you simply just love action movies, you'll get into this.
This review is from: Push (DVD) Saw a fellow passenger watching this on his laptop. Asked for the name and ordered it. If you are a fan of intense espionage type movies you will enjoy this. Virtually no crude language or sex! Amazing. Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! Highly recommend this movie.
There have been a myriad of movies about people with gifts who areeither causing or trying to thwart the end of the world or evil fromassuming a strangle hold on power. Just off the top of my head,"X-Men," "Watchmen" and "Heroes" comes to mind. And there is of course an inevitable quality difference between whatyou see on the big screen, and what you see on television. So pray tell, how did this film get the green light? In every manner ofspeaking, it is a low rent version of the television show "Heroes" ATBEST! Chris Evans plays a young man with an extraordinary ability, hiding out in Hong Kong after the death of his father years earlier. How he got to Hong Kong, why he chose Hong Kong, and why his idea oflaying low is getting involved in gambling games and becoming indebtedto loan sharks is all a mystery.Evans (sorry, I don't remember ANY of the character's names) is amover, who meets a seer (Dakota Fanning...again, another child thatfinds her way to Hong Kong, to find Evans...go figure!!!) who wants himto help her recover a pusher (Camille Belle, another white Americanheaded for...Hong Kong...I mean, what the hell???) who is apparentlycarrying money. Except she's carrying a syringe full of what she wasinjected with.Meanwhile Hong Kong is awash with "bleeders," who are obnoxiouslunatics with loud screams, and another seer who is from Hong Kong, whois also searching for Camille Belle so that she and her bleederbrothers can recover the syringe! Of course Camille Belle is linkedwith Chris Evans, but why not? After all, an indebted, unemployedAmerican loafing around in Hong Kong, what's not to like, eh?Especially when she can push thoughts into anyone's mind. Why not finda wealthy, handsome man and push a history of love into his mind?Evidently Chris Evans, even as a bum, has some magnetic appeal:regardless of whether or not he's pushing the homeless trouble makingbum label to the limit! And naturally there is an evil company thatsends a pusher of its own (Djimon Hounsou) along with a mover, whoapparently has the ability to push away bullets, but cannot really stopthe bleeders from hurting him unless he impales them on something. And there is a vindictive stitcher who can heal wounds and cause themten times quicker who figures into this story, along with sniffers, shades, erasers and all sorts of other characters. By the end of themovie, you come to realize that the normal non-gifted people areactually in the minority! The problems in this movie are so numerousthat they become impossible to avoid: from the totally unpleasantscenery (surely Hong Kong is not all dense, cramped shanty towns orcasinos...per capita its' economy is on par with the USA's!), to absurdand ridiculous story lines, and of course the hapless happy ending.I typically love these types of movies, but I really HATED this one! Itwas awful: a mediocre cast in a sub-par story that is both poorlydirected and dreadfully boring! Save your money and watch "Heroes"instead of seeing this piece of garbage!
