Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "Princess Protection Program". They represent actual movie quality.
I must confess that I didn't cared for watching this film after seeingthe previews for it, my thought was "just another way for Disney tomilk out their stars". However, recently I saw this movie randomly -and got pleasantly surprised. «Princess Protection Program» isundoubtedly the best DC movie I've seen, surpassing all their recentfilms like «Camp Rock», the «High School Musical» flicks, «HatchingPete» and «Dadnapped».A thing that most DC movies have in common that they're prettysoulless; They seem like they're all the same, with mediocre acting, predictable story lines and squeaky clean love subplots. Their filmshas rarely soul and emotion (even though one shouldn't take for grantedthat the theatrical released films has heart and emotion, cause thatisn't always the case either). But «Princess Protection Program» wasquite cute and enjoyable. The story is a little cheesy, but still works pretty well and the highschool clichés during this film doesn't feel worn out. Thecinematography by David A. Makin is quite lovely, making the locationslook beautiful and the score by John Van Tongeren is also good. Andmost of the songs are catchy.Disney has casted two of their up-and-coming stars to the main roles(the replacements of Miley Cyrus, if you will); Selena Gomez as Carterand Demi Lovato as Princess Rosalinda. Their interaction and friendshipon the screen is credible, without being overdone. They both pull oftheir roles pretty well. Of course since this is a DC movie you can'texpect a profound acting, but none of the performances feels overacted.Demi Lovato has improved since «Camp Rock» and has never looked morebeautiful than in this film, with her rose-red lips and stunningdresses. She struggles a bit with timing on her emotional moments, butstill carries her Princess role with grace and dignity. While Selena, which is wonderful as Alex in «Wizards of Waverly Place», fits the roleof a tomboy surprisingly well (I had never pictured her as a tomboy).Of the adult cast, Tom Verica has good charisma as Carter's father. The film was enjoyable, but the only thing that disappointed me, justlike another reviewer on this site pointed out, was the ending, whichcould been more suspenseful, cause it was leading to an thrillingclimax. Otherwise, I highly recommend «Princess Protection Program».The film may not be innovative or Oscar-worthy, but has the mayoringredient that most DC films lack: heart and soul. Please make moremovies like this, Disney.
First of all, the ending was soooooooooo awful and I knew some of youwanted to know what happened with Ed and Carter and stuff like that. Iwas looking forward to that to but then I guess it was a bigdisappointment. But seriously, friendship is the main theme here and Ithink each best friend should watch this....I meant the lesson of thestory. It's pretty good Carter spared Rosie and went with the GeneralGuy and sacrificed herself for her best friend. And her dad, OMG, Ihate it! The part when the rescued her....her dad should've said "I'mproud of you, Carter, you inherited my skills" or stuff like that thatCarter was a brave person but of course she might've be in trouble butabove all, it's a typical Disney movie except for the ending which isawful.
On June 30th, the televised movie "PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM" (which airs on the Disney Channel on June 26th) brings together real-life BFF's Selena Gomez ("Wizards of Waverly Place") and Demi Lovato ("Camp Rock") together in a film directed by Allison Liddi (has directed for TV shows such as "Bones", "Friday Night Lights", "Gossip Girl", "Chuck" and "Grey's Anatomy") and a screenplay by Annie DeYoung (writer for "Prince William", "The Facts of Life Reunion" and "The Ron Clark Story").Joining both Gomez and Lovato are Tom Verica ("Flags of Our Fathers", "The Nine" and "American Dreams"), actress Jamie Chung ("Samurai Girl", "Greek" and "Days of Our Lives") and Molly Hagan ("Unfabulous").The film revolves around two girls from two different countries and very different upbringing.Carter Mason (Selena Gomez) works at a bait shop in Louisiana with her father (Tom Verica) who is also employed as an agent of the Princess Protection Program. For Carter, she is often treated badly because she doesn't sport the expensive clothes and the lifestyle of Chelsea (Jamie Chung) and her friends. She likes Donnie (Robert Adamson) but he never recognizes her.The other girl is Rosalinda (Demi Lovato) who is about to become the queen of Costa Luna. But since the death of her father, there has been an uprising and General Magnus Kane has staged a coup and takes over Costa Luna. Sophia's mother knows that General Kane can't take power as long as her daughter is alive and fortunately, she has the help of the Princess Protection Program to watch her daughter. The program is funded by the royalty to protect the princess throughout the world and Carter Mason's father who works for the program is ordered to take Princess Rosalinda and bring her to an undisclosed location. As long as Rosalinda is alive and well, General Kane will be unable to hurt her mother or take control of Costa Luna. But life is tough for both teenage girls. Carter dislikes girls who act like a "princess" and think they deserve attention and Rosalinda, is having difficulties fitting in because she is a princess. And to make things more challenging, Carter's father wants her to attend the local high school and Carter to help her achieve this normal life and not draw any suspicion that she is a real life princess. But when all the guys start diverting their attention to Rosalinda and the high school students start thinking Rosalinda is very cool, Carter becomes jealous. But Rosalinda does what she can to make her relationship better with Carter but plans keep backfiring. Will these two girls with different lifestyles ever get along? And will Rosalinda ever be able to return to Costa Luna and free her mother and the people of the country?VIDEO & AUDIO:"PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM" is featured in Widescreen (1:78:1) and is enhanced for 16×9 televisions. As for audio, audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound (and also includes French and Spanish language tracks). The film is primarily a dialog and music-driven film. Dialog can be heard clearly.Subtitles are featured in French and Spanish.SPECIAL FEATURES:"PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM" features the following special features: * Royal & Loyal BFF's - (7:36) A featurette about how Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are real life BFF's and how they brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the set. Interviews with the talents in the film about their experience working on the film and more! * A Royal Reality - (5:01) A real life princess, India Oxenberg (Daughter of Catherine Oxenberg and step daughter of Casper Van Dien. Her grandmother is Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia.) and also an actress in California, talks about her experience as a princess and the gowns and responsibilities they have and how today's princess don't exactly live in fairytale castles in the modern world. Featuring interviews with cast and crew about the roles of a princess. * "One and the Same" Music Video - (3:05) A catchy rock music video featuring both Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. The extended edition comes with a necklace (available for a limited time).JUDGMENT CALL:Both Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have a good chemistry with each other and the fact the two are best friends (and have known each other since they were children) and are comfortable being around with each other, their enthusiasm can be seen onscreen. In fact, all the talent seemed to have gelled quite well (according to the talents, because there was only a handful of them, they were all able to hang out and have fun offscreen and onscreen) onscreen and everything seems to work.Personally, these two young actresses do a great job. For one, I'm proud to see two actresses with Latino heritage in starring roles in a film and most of all, to finally seeing these two stars working together. Personally, I find it absolutely awesome that Disney has been giving people of different ethnicities the opportunity to have major lead roles in their films and "PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM" is no different.Overall, "PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM" is enjoyable, very safe for children and an enjoyable film for the whole family. If you are a fan of both Gomez or Lovato or both, definitely check this film out!
This movie it great. YOu cant beat Demi and Selena together in a movie! i can watch this over and over again, i'm 17 btw, has a GREAT story line, and teaches u about the strength of true friendship :)
Adults be warned: if you don't have kids, or if you don't enjoyyourself when they do, then you need not watch this movie. If you wantto feel young again, go watch Star Trek or something. This is Disney in its lightest form, without pain, just some bullyingat most. This goes for the school environment as well as for theinternational political environment. Sure, Mr. Evil himself is about asscary as the lion Alex in Madagascar. He did a good job though, learning from cartoon characters, which I'm sure is a Disney trademark. Also, don't focus on the international part. I speak both French andSpanish, and it hurts me to see them massacred so much. On the otherhand, it makes me think I'd make excellent royalty. Apart from thecaring part, that is.The acting is not as bad as described by others. Actually, everybodyseems to be having a good time, hoping it wears off to the audience. Itworks, sometimes. I liked the camera-work, the attention paid todressing details, the displays of dignity and style. Also, when I saidthat it was a light movie, I also meant that there's no scenes atnight. Vampires abstain.Nah, it's not like this movie is advisory entertainment, but when theythrow all these kid musicals on your plate, it's nice to have somethingelse for dinner. But, again, be in the right mood, or with the right(very young) people.
This review is from: Princess Protection Program (DVD) My 7 yr. old and 4 yr. old granddaughters love Miss Selena Gomez in anything she does. The Princess Protection Program movie was very cute for them, and I enjoyed watching with them.
As a father, I'm subjected to all kinds of fare, which I realize is notmeant for my age demographic. That being said, I try to watch materialwith an open, yet subjective eye and find the redeeming quality in it.Sadly, the storyline wasn't original and the producers opted to use therecycled formulaic 'fish-out-of-water' plot, ie. girl from (insertnationality, Atlantis, background, culture here) and the difficultiesand (although not found here) funny situations they encounter trying to'blend-in' in a different society. Some movies (Splash and PrettyWoman) did a fairly reasonable job of conveying this successfully.Basically, a princess from make-believe island nation is rescued aftera deviant, power-hungry general attempts to overthrow the governmentbefore she can become it's future queen. She's swept away to Louisianaand hidden, making an attempt to disguise herself as a typicalteenager. Of course, she has a difficult time adapting and letting goof her royal ways... yada yada yada...My nine year-old loves to watch 'The Wizards of Waverly Place' withSelena Gomez, so this movie was a natural choice to rent. We've all hadshows we watched growing up and 'Wizards' is innocent enough andactually isn't as insulting to the I.Q. as some of the things I used towatch as a kid. Anyway, aside from the forced 'comedic' situations andunoriginal story, the fact that Princess Rosalinda's (portrayed ineptlyby Demi Lovato) accent kept fading in and out was and addeddistraction. In the end, I had the feeling that this uninspiring project was throwntogether quickly to cash-in on the tween set's love for Selena Gomezand Demi Lovato. I suppose Hollywood's (and Disney's) need to make aquick buck has been in existence ever since the dawn of children'sprogramming, I just wish that every so often they'd put more effortinto the assembly line fodder they churn out since in the end, parentsare the ones having to pay the ultimate price.I gave it (2) stars because my daughter liked it.
...ultimately as silly and relentlessly lightweight as its myriad of made-for-The-Disney-Channel brethren...
A perfectly serviceable pre-teen diversion boasting two brightly talented stars, a digestible amount of adolescent drama, and a few snippets of principled behavior befitting royalty.
Predictable I mean she is in a new town where she is unpopular thentheir a competition where their is someone else who also wants it too.The only twisted part they had was the princess being from anothercountry but other than that it is basically like every other movie. Themain plot of the movie has been re-done in plenty Disney movies butthey did it in a different version. I think the only reasons why peoplewould be excited to watch this movie is because it has Selena Gomez andDemi Lovato they would probably like to enjoy watching their teen starson TV. But the plot is just plainly predictable. When the two evilgirls the blond one reads that magazine it was obvious that it had tobe Rosalie in it. That was mostly one of the most predictable things. The movie is basically about one wanting more power over the other butcompetition strikes on them that is basically how all movies go.
This review is from: Princess Protection Program (Royal B.F.F. Extended Edition) (DVD) My 7 yr. old and 4 yr. old granddaughters love Miss Selena Gomez in anything she does. The Princess Protection Program movie was very cute for them, and I enjoyed watching with them.
My grandaughter loves Selena Gomez and anything she does. She loves her music, her acting. She loved the Princess Protection movie with Selena and Demi. She has watched her movies over and over again. She asked her father to watch it with her and he loved it as well (amazing!). We all love this movie and we all love Selena Gomez. She is very talented.
I Luv Demi Lovato. She's Cute! Also a VERY GOOD Movie. Demi has alot of talent and you will see in this movie i also recomend another movie of hers callled Camp Rock!! 5/5 MOVIES!!
With all the hype that the Magic Kingdom has been giving this film overthe past several months, I expected something a lot better from thePrincess Protection Program. I think most kids even those who look atstars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez as role models and they're not badones either, would find this film just too much.Selena is the daughter of widower Tom Verica who is the owner of a baitshop in the bayous of Louisiana and also works for the CIA. He justfinished a mission where he rescued a princess from a small Caribbeanisland nation which just had a military coup. Now he's depositedPrincess Demi Lovato with his daughter and drawn her into his otherlife.Selena's mission and she's got no choice but to accept it is to makeLovato blend in like a normal teen, at least a normal teen in theDisney view. From the politics of Lovato's nation to the politics ofGomez's high school, the two girls get off to a rocky start, but in theend become great pals.In the pattern of what they do at Disney Studios when they havesuccessful stars from successful shows they always try to mix and matchand team these stars in film projects. This was one case where the filmidea was so preposterous no matter how appealing these two young womenare, they simply couldn't put it over. They're both far better at theirDisney shows than in this film.I mean really, CIA dad gets daughter to help out on one of hismissions? I don't think Princess Protection Program would have everbeen made if Disney himself was around, though perhaps for differentreasons than I didn't like it.
This is a movie for boys and girls. For boys there is a lot of action and for girls there is a lot of Princess stuff. My name is Casey and I am eight years old. I recommend this movie for all ages.
I am not a teenager, but i love movies i heard about PrincessProtection Program. and decided to watch it. I thought the movie wasgood. this movie was better then i thought it was going to be. DemiLovato plays a 16 year old princess from a small country who is forcedto leave her country to avoid being taken prisoner. by the ruthlessgeneral Cain. Rosie played by Demi Lovato is recued by a CIA agent andtaken to his home. Selena Gomez is Carter the CIA agent's 16 year olddaughter who he recriuts to help Rosie blend in as a normal 16 year oldgirl. with out giving to much away this a fish out of water story. Thisis one of the better Disney movies. Demi Lovato was adorable asRosie, and Selena Gomez took a chance with this role, see at thebeganning of the movie Carter was not very likable, but as the moviewent on Carter played Gomez became as adorable as princess Rosie.Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato work well together. the story was good.the acting was good. Selena Gomez might the best actress of all theteens queens. now the movie is not very realistic, remember thisDisney.
This review is from: Princess Protection Program (Royal B.F.F. Extended Edition) (DVD) This is a fantastic movie with a great job of acting by Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato young ladies that are best friends.
This is a very great movie. This two ladies proved that they can act by doing complete different charaters than they ususaly do. un like the Jonas brothers that cant do anything but the "rockstar" roll. If you buy this movie you will have a great time
I was looking forward to watching this movie, mainly because it starsDemi Lovato and Selena Gomez. I was neither disappointed nor impressed. As all Disney Channel movies--with the exception of Motocrossed--theplot was mediocre: princess is in danger, she is taken into hiding andthen forced to endure the vast perils of a normal life. There isbowling, chaos at a yogurt shop (which has been done to death in othershows) and of course a school dance. The acting was OK. Demi is at herbest when she is being helped by someone. Selena is the better actor. She plays the sullen, down-to-earth girl spot on. In fact, I loved themovie's first scene and I think Selena nailed it. I really hated theentire Princess Protection Program headquarters scene. I thought themain boss lady was very cartoonish and exaggerated as was the dictator. But oh well. OH! One thing I did love about the movie was that themovie was set in Louisiana. I loved it, but unfortunately it wasunderused.Overall, ahh...it was okay bordering on bad.
