Police Academy: Mission to Moscow

Russian mafia boss Konstantine Konali is laundering money under the guise of a legitimate business. The business a highly addictive video game that allows him to bring down almost any security system controlled by a computer on which the game has been played, with a string of major robberies as the result. Desperate to nail Konali, Commandant Alexandrei Nikolaivich Rakov sends for help from America. Rakov decides to bring in someone he met at a convention a month ago. This person is Commandant Eric Lassard. Lassard briefs his team about the mission in Russia, then they head to Moscow. Along with Lassard in Moscow are Sergeant Larvell Jones, Sergeant Eugene Tackleberry, Captain Debbie Callahan, Cadet Kyle Connors, and Captain Thaddeus Harris. As they plan to nail Konali, he has cooked up a new scheme -- create an even better version of the Game by making it good enough to bring down absolutely any computer security system in the world, including the systems that protect the databases that belong to world powers.

Not bad considering it was a low budget direct to video release

I never saw this movie in it's original US direct to video release backin 1994 and I would not have paid to see it had it been releasedtheatrically in the US like it was in the UK but considering it can bedownloaded for pennies online I decided to check it out today. I wasactually amused and even chuckled at this silly movie. I do admit thatseeing the great Christopher Lee in this movie was surprising but thenI read on some other websites that he did it as a personal favor to thedirector ?? or something.Mr Lee does try hard with the limited timehe's on screen,I laughed at his scenes with Gaynes, especially when theykissed each other on the mouth at the end of the movie, I fell out ofmy chair laughing. Michael Winslow has two funny scenes with Mr Leetoo,he is so funny with his mouth noises.Ron Perlman doesn't fair aswell as the bad guy,he comes off like a Boris and Natasha cartooncharacter. I did think Leslie Easterbrook was funny in that big hairdoand especially when she falls off the piano while singing. Look for GWBailey dressed in a tutu doing ballet ,the scene is so stupid that it'sfunny. I also remember Charlie Schlatter as a cadet who sneaks his wayinto the Moscow Mission,he did some other better movies before PA butunlike some other actors ,if your not a high tier you might have tojust take what comes your way to earn a paycheck.Hey I would do a PAmovie ,it would be good fun and to get paid for it too would just be abonus. One thing noted, they did film it in Moscow ,if you watch thebackgrounds during the car chase scenes you will see some beautifulbuildings and scenery in Moscow. The ceremony scene at the end wasfilmed in Red Square. I also read this article about what was going onduring the film shoot."In the midst of shooting, cast and crew had to retreat quickly whenGovernment troops began their October 1993 assault on the Russianparliament building. Series producer Paul Maslanski (who also made TheRussia House in Moscow) and director Alan Metter (Back to School) werelunching at the US Embassy when the confrontation began. They decidedto regroup with their company at the quaintly-named Hotel GorbachevFinance Academy about five miles from the chaos. After a few daysindoors and confident that President Yeltsin had regained control, their fictitious mayhem was able to resume. So there was some actual mayhem going on. Still not bad for a moviethat actually got filmed in Russias capital of all places.Enjoy

The worst series.

The film obviously gone smash.Where, in what episodes, we should laugh? And were were gone Zed and Proctor? Whoops...Eventually to look doesn't cost. Stupid film, a bad egg.

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!!!

This is the worst film of the 20th century! After the total failures ofPolice Academy 4, 5 and 6, what the hell were the producers thinking whenthey decided to make this piece of SH*T?! The film is so bad it makes youwant to VOMIT!!!. They should of put a warning sign at the beginning ofthefilm saying how lousy it was going to be. The acting is awful, the plot istrash and the jokes are appallingly unfunny. When the Environmental Agencyin the US prevented them from filming their dirty work on home territorythePolice Academy gang (Lassard, Jones, Tackleberry, Callahan and Harris)fledto Russia to deal with the mafia and kick some buttski. Instead we seethemmaking complete fools of themselves. It's embarrassing!. How many moretimesare we going to see the same old, repetitive and rehashed gags?. When willthey get it through their thick heads that it is not funny anymore? Cheap, lame, sloppy, cack-handed and utterly redundant. By far, the very worstfilmever made. They don't come any worse than this!!!Rating: 0/10

This movie made me consider shooting my Television

Man oh man!!! Does everyone who took part in this movie deserve to go tohell or what!? I was so happy the day I brought home my Police AcademyDVDbox set. I've been a huge fan since I was about 4. I even used tocollectthe action figures and have gone as far to own the cartoon series ontape.Bringing home the boxed DVD collection was awesome till I got to thispieceof crap! I had not seen Mission to Moscow since the 5th grade and now canremember why I hated it so much then! For starters, whats with all the cheeseball sound effects? Everytimesomeone slips a goofy sound is made. Even three Russian police guys makemonkey noises the whole time! G.W. Bailey should be able to "get over" onjust looking stupid and acting funny. It's like the sound effects aresaying, "Don't forget to laugh her folks! Hear the funnysound?"Even the low budget characters like Hooks and Proctor knew better than tocome back to this stinkbomb! This is the worst movie I've ever seen! AndIown Abraxas staring Jesse Ventura!

One of the most underrated Sequels of all time

(******1/2 out of ten)The Academy films I first saw when my friend helent me all seven after I had watched the first six I was hesitantabout watching this one after hearing all the negative reception of it,but I decided to watch and I thought it was actually enjoyable the onlynegative about it was only five people returning and at least my twofavourites returned (Jones and Tackleberry) *Spoiler* I laughed hardwhen Harris was coming out of the sewer ('Oh I hate dogs, I'm going toshoot every dog I ever see'... zzz zzz zzz (the lightbulb burns out andhe looks at the sign but doesn't see what it is and lights a match)'What have we got here a match with a red line throu... AAAAHHH'(throws it away) BOOM, and comes out all charred). I also showed it tomy best friend, another fan of the Academy films and told him about allthe negative reception this received, then we watched it and he likedit, thought it was just as good and funny as the rest.

awesome movie!

Great movie! How in the world did Forrest Gump win the Oscar over thismovie? It's such a travesty that not one person from this film was evennominated for an award! How could the people who vote for the Oscarsoverlook such a great script and phenomenal acting? Oh well, I can't waitfor the next Police Academy movie. Hopefully the next one won't getoverlooked come Oscar time!

Mission to Moscow is a Mission of Fun

Police Academy movies never really get the respect that they deserve. Most people will just say that this movie or the series are bad. Thismovie was released directly to home video, VHS at the time and peopledid not get a chance to see it. This movie is just good fun. The lateDavid Graf is a comedy genius, the man knew what was funny and what wasnot and had a great eye for finding a perfect script. The move of theseries to Moscow helps add a new and exciting twist to a all readywonderful series. Steve Guttenberg should have fired his agent for notgetting him involved in the film. The legendary actor Bubba Smith alsodoes not appear in this film and makes me wonder his ability to makegood career choices. There are many touching scenes, many moments whenI laughed and cried. I am waiting for them to release a DVD withdirector commentary, and cast interviews.I give this movie an A+

If you love the Police Academy films... you'll still hate this

The Police Academy series came crashing to a halt with the ill-fated and much belated Police Academy: Mission to Moscow. It's a film which leaves you asking Why? What? How? And why again? (a question that just can't be asked enough). Shot in Russia during the 1991 coup (rather than the 1993 constitutional crisis) but not released until three years later, and then in conditions of near-total secrecy, it took a pitiful $126,247 in the US, a staggering 1/670th of the first film's gross and about $126,246.97 more than it's worth. It's a film so astonishingly bad it almost staggers the imagination. The human vocabulary has still not evolved to a level that can truly articulate just how utterly wrong this film is. Lazy, badly acted, hopelessly directed, plastered with inept musical Mickey Mousing and cartoon sound-effects to underline non-existent jokes, barely even scripted and photographed with all the artistry of a basic cable infomercial, this seems to have been made in the vain hope that - by applying infinite number of monkeys with infinite number of typewriters logic - if you point the camera in the general direction of the cast and they make some noise vaguely resembling human speech, you might just get something funny if you keep the cameras rolling long enough. Nothing is developed or possesses even the vaguest level of internal logic: why, after battering a hole in a hotel door, do two characters just walk away, bored? Is it because nobody bothered to finish writing the scene? Why does G.W. Bailey disguise himself as a ballerina to arrest Ron Perlman? Is it so inexplicable because the scene with the exposition just never got filmed because they ran out of money? Considering the quality of the rest of the film, it can't be because it was too bad to include - you get the impression that if they shot anything, it's in the picture no matter how bad just to pad out the running time. Every expense has been spared. Aside from not even affording a number 7 for the title, let alone retakes, there's no big stunt finale, no Russian Blue Oyster Bar (admittedly that joke retired in Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol), and, aside from George Gaynes' Commandant Lassard and G.W. Bailey, only three of the original cast return, and they go through the film with a palpable air of despair that all their hopes and dreams of a glittering career have come to this. RichardCat's IMDB review sums up the sheer despondency of the cast perfectly - the performances do indeed have the sense of `souls bleeding.' Definitely one mission you should decline.

My review on the 7th installment in the "Police Academy" series...

"Police Academy" first came out in or around 1984, I think. The firsttime I've seen this movie (and this was not in theaters, this was waylater, on TV, I think), it was funny. It was like "Car 54, Where AreYou?" Almost.Several parts later, the Police Academy jump the pond...all the way toMoscow, Russia! There, they have to deal with the Russian Mafia. I'veread the tagline for this movie, and that made me laugh: "Kickingbuttski. Making you laughski. The Academy is backski!" You gotta lovethe "ski" part of Eastern European languages; believe me! You have totry that sometime! I hope there will be an 8th "Police Academy" moviein the works soon!

Why was this movie made?

I'd like to say more but what is there to say? Why was this movie made? Notone laugh, NOT ONE! i pity anyone who watched this movie, let alone enjoyit??? Was this movie made with the intent of being the worst movie ever oris there a chance someone thought it might be good. Surelynot!I've been told to make this comment 10 lines long, so I'll finish with acomment to the director, cast, and crew of this monstrosity. 'What the hellwere thinking? You will rot in eternity for wasting anyone who watched thismovie's time and for putting them through o much pain!' I'm presentlysearching for a movie worse then Police Academy 7 but i have beenunsuccessful. My quest continues.

Where's Hightower

Hightower, my favorite charecter is gone. Oh well, still an awsome and dumb movie.

2012-04-21 06:06:14

a final sequel that shouldn't have been made

After the disappointment of Police Academy 5 and the improvement of Police Academy 6, you would think this final sequel would have been a nice finish to the series. Wrong! Police Academy: Mission to Moscow is the worst of the films. It even makes Police Academy 5 look somewhat good. Most of the actors from the previous Police Academy movies have left the series by now and with good reason. The plot is no good and not even Captain Harris (G.W. Bailey) could have saved the loss of humor in this movie. If you are a person who has never seen any of the Police Academy sequels or have not gotten past #4, do yourself a favor by skipping #5, watch #6, and avoid this final sequel at all cost! To sum up this review, only watch Police Academy 1,2,3,4, and 6.

Great Movie

Some of the charecters may be gone, but I still love it. But it on dvd, infact, get the box set.

s-woodier 2012-04-17 02:33:59

god help us all.

enthusiastically, i took my best friend to this film. he is still notspeaking to me. the audience were silent for the whole movie (exceptfor the ones who were demanding a refund, and that was more or lesseveryone.) my other friend is blind and deaf and even he was finding ita struggle.this film must be quarantined for all our sakes. if there isan outbreak of police academy 7, we are all dead. the actors all looklike someone has got a gun pointing at them from behind the camera. Inreality, it is the audience who are pointing guns at them. I will neverforgive warner bros. for tricking people into going to see thismonstrosity.

crazyrabbits 2012-04-08 05:21:20

I can't believe it came to this...

It's a sad thing when a movie franchise hits the rails, and in the caseof Police Academy 6: Mission To...oh, who the hell am I kidding, thefranchise started dragging from the second film! PA6: Mission To Moscowis a bland, retarded piece of film-making, and totally (and rightfully)killed off the Police Academy franchise for good (I hope). Whereas thefirst film was mediocre, but humorous fare, this film has killed anyand all attempts at police comedies. Seriously, the stuff in this filmis so outdated, cheesy and stupid that it's a miracle the film was evenreleased in the first place.Basically, for those of you who haven't seen the film, the plot goeslike this: the Russian government is having trouble with the localMafia, and decides to call on the Police Academy recruits for help (areyou kidding me? You telling me that the Russian police are so ineptthat they need help from a bunch of young cadets?), and the veterans ofthe PA force (read: the only actors actually needing paychecks) enlistthe help of some young recruits to help them stop this guy namedKonstantine, who has made a new video game called "The Game" (nicemarketing tie-in) that can brainwash people or hack intocomputers...whatever the script calls for. This film is truly something. I mean, most of the original cast left(including the actors who played Hightower, Hooks, Proctor, andMahoney) and were replaced by a few no-name actors. There's even asubplot in the film that deals with a young recruit trying to woo overa Russian translator (played by Claire Forlani, who really should knowbetter than this). Heck, the main "plot" of the video game just sort ofdisappears for most of the movie, as does Sgt. Lassard, who strangelyends up living with a Russian family for the majority of the film. Thejokes are tired and lifeless. Captain Callahan STILL emphasizes herbreasts, Tackleberry STILL loves guns, Sgt. Jones STILL makes weirdnoises, and Captain Harris is STILL a bumbling fool. The filmmakers should have known that when the supporting cast from theprevious films backed out, they were in deep trouble. As it is, thefilm just drags for the entire running time. It's only saved by theperformances of the veteran actors like George Gaynes and ChristopherLee (and no, I am not counting Michael Winslow). The film ends upresorting to physical humor in order to elicit a laugh, and doesn'tfocus on the interaction between the characters. It's just the samethings from the past few films repeated, ad nauseum. The film doesn'teven really have a proper ending, just Cadet Connors hooking up withthe Russian woman.Bottom Line: This truly was the death knell for the Police Academyseries. Still, it did have a few good actors doing what they could tolift the material, so that is one point in the film's favor. I givethis film a 3 out of 10. Stick to the original.

This was a great Comedy

Paul Maslansky really did a great job on these movies, no doubt about that. If people don't like this movie, don't listen to them, It's hilarious.
