A computer genius named Finch developed a machine for the government that is used to detect information leading to acts of terrorism before they happen. The machine separates the information gathered into two categories relevant and irrelevant. Finch, however, discovered that the irrelevant information often led to other acts of violent crime. So, he, before going underground, developed a back door into the system which only spits out the social security number of a central person involved in the crime. Supposedly dead in the authoritys eyes, Finch hires John Reese, an ex-CIA special operations agent, who, too, dropped out of life after his girlfriend was killed the result of a professional incident, and as he was dissatisfied with the governments handling of the situation. Like Finch, Reese is officially listed as dead. Finch convinces Reese that in working for him to prevent the crime associated with the social security number...

We have taken some photos of "Person of Interest - Season One". They represent actual movie quality.
With Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams at the helm, I had greatexpectations from this show and it delivered in the best possible way.'Person of Interest' is a sophisticated, intriguing, intense thrillerwith an exciting plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. After '24',this is probably the only show that stands out in this genre.Jim Caviezel (Reese) plays an ex-CIA hit-man (which itself sounds cool)who is a tough guy but at the same time has strong feelings for hisdead girlfriend which he tries to suppress. Michael Emerson, who weknow as 'Benjamin Linus' from 'Lost', plays a scientist who hires Reeseto do his dirty work. Emerson, who is known to play complex characters, keeps up his end of the bargain by giving a flawless performance. Eventhough the show has just began, I can see Jim and Emerson sharing greaton-screen chemistry in the future (hopefully there is one). There is a vast difference between writing a screenplay for a movie anda TV episode. But, that did not matter since, Johnathan Nolan, makinghis debut in the TV industry, had great help in the form of Abrams, whohas been doing this day in, day out for so many years. Apart from thetalented writing, the show also showcased some riveting actionsequences, good editing and awesome visuals. The surveillance cam shotsadded another dimension to this show.'Person of Interest' has a lot of potential and I would hate to see itbecome just another crime show. I hope it continues to impress and getsa renewal soon.
This is the best superhero any TV series has known so far. Thestoryline is fantastic but solid, it is brilliant and imaginative eventhough it is not a new theme. Without shadow of doubt the best is thestar: far from being a bucket of muscles in other superhero Americanfilms or series. It mixes all the ingredients needed to be among thetop ten. Some details remain unsolved and that will keep you down inyour seat. Dialogues are well constructed, scenes do not contain anyunnecessary violence. Actors and actress could just be anyone as youand me, what makes every character to be more realistic. We are reallychewing our nails up waiting for the series to start here in Spain.
Christopher Nolan,Jonathan Nolan and JJ Abrams...let that sink in for asecondNow,these names are amongst the highly ratedwriters/directors/producers of Hollywood. You would expected them togive Martin Scorsese and his posse at 'Boardwalk Empire' a good run fortheir money as the new up and coming TV series of this fall butunfortunately it went surprisingly wrong. If your a fan of the Nolanbrothers 'Person of Interest' lacks the depth and the charisma the duousually brings to the big screen. So far,(I've only watched the firsttwo episodes),it seems the script was written over-night with a bottleof liquor and some cocaine to speed things up.It felt very diluted, withthe basic grasp of the compelling nature often found in the Nolan'sscreenplay. The shows theme runs parallel to '24','find the victim before the badguys do',that said it does stand on its own with a different twist tothe main story line(main being the key word here)As far as the acting is concerned Jim Caviezel seemed very stiff, notquite comfortable with his character.'cringe' is the word that comes tomind after almost every line he delivers,he tries his best but againthe poorly written script is his downfall,i'm sure/hope this willchange as the series goes onLost fans will be happy to see the return Michael Emerson to the screenstill somewhat as cryptic as our beloved 'Ben Linus'All and all its a 'tuesday evening' entertainment-the week has barelykicked off and there's nothing else to do so you'll probably end up onthe couch bored and staring at the TV-on the long run i can see itending up as 'just another cop show'
I watched the first couple of episodes of this, but lost interest. Mymajor problem with the show is that the concept is not believable. 1.The billionaire invents a system that records everything and cansomehow intuit that something bad is going to happen, but can't tellyou what. Very improbable all around.2. The people involved expend a massive amount of effort to stop vague, undefined crimes from happening to a single person. What a silly wasteof effort in the grand scheme of things. If Mr. Billionaire spent asimilar amount of effort on things that really matter, he could conquerdiseases or overthrow bad governments. Instead he obsesses about asingle individual?3. Reminds me very much of the "Without A Trace" series. Someone ismissing for 6 hours and an FBI team is standing by, ready to make anheroic effort to find them. Sure thing... If you're going to spend a lot of production resources and money on amajor TV show, why not start with a premise that could actually betrue!
Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams never cease to astonish. I mean withFringe,Lost, etc and Dark Knight, Momento, etc. What have you actuallyseen from either one of them that was truly disappointing. Not anythingon my end. I believe this is going to be a superbly well written showwith all the suspense you could ask for. The 1st episode was great. Ithink the cast couldn't be better either. I love J.C. and MichaelEmerson, they hold so much screen presence... Like the other shows I amsure we will not know what is fully going on or who is involved in whatuntil well into another season but it is definitely going to be athrilling, mind-bending journey that i am willing to experience. Notmuch on these days that grabs my curiosity. This does. So lets see whathappens shall we?
There's not a whole lot of network series I can say I like, but thisone is really excellent. Jim Caviezel is really good as the broodingtotally efficient hit-man. Michael Emerson is a great choice for thebrilliant creator of the "machine". I'm finding I'm addicted to the waythe plots unfold, the interaction of the characters, and the acting ingeneral. OK, so it's true, I'm still trying to figure out just exactlywhat it is about the way Caviezel plays his character that is socompelling. Is it that his lines are delivered so calmly, even whenhe's threatening to kill whoever he's talking to? Or is it hisexpression - does this guy ever BLINK? Overall, this show offers agreat, fresh concept, the plots have had interesting twists, the screenwriting is pretty good, the character development has managed to avoidthat awkward development phase that some series seem to go through -hopefully we're looking at a nice long run for this show!
To have any hope of finding this show entertaining one is required todo much more than suspend disbelief. I do that all the time whileenjoying all kinds of fiction. The problem is this show has such acascade of politically correct plot elements that they kept insultingmy basic innate intelligence. It kept jarring me back from a state ofsuspended disbelief to the worst of today's PC world that is onlyentertaining when it is the subject of satire. The acting was fine butthe writing is the problem. Too bad, it could have been worth watchingif it hadn't been written as if by a committee of suits not to mentionit is completely devoid of humor.
This show: We wanted to check out - Person of Interest - my husband & Iset down to watch the season premiernot really expecting much. We were both pleasantly surprised &intrigued. The show was fabulous - right away ! We never miss anepisode and look forward to Thursday's each week...Person of Interestnever fails to keep our attention- from beginning to end.. The show isawesome & entertaining. I enjoy the suspense, plot and mysteryrevolving behind the story. CBS you did GREAT.. Jim C. is eye candygalore. Hope we see him in MORE programs - PLEASE !!! I hope thisseries stays on for quite a while!Debbie Sax Kennewick, WA
The more I watch, the more I like. When Person of Interest first aired I was skeptical that this showcould sustain itself or thrive among the competition: Prime Suspect,Unforgettable, Body of Proof, Castle, the Mentalist, etc. The premiseseemed weak and there is absolutely no chemistry between thecharacters. So much for first impressions: those weaknesses have shown themselvesto be strengths. Lack of chemistry defines a world of isolatedindividuals, each trying to navigate through a world intensely paranoidand dangerous; low-key tone highlights explosions of brief, intenseviolence overlaid by a unambiguous moral ambiguousness. In other words, the show revolves around contradictions - and, the more you watch itthe tighter those contradictions become. Each parameter is matched toits opposite in a dance that I've come to find fascinating.Even the premise has become a strength as the "machine" targetsindividuals but doesn't say why and provides a rational for the littleboxes that pop-up as its eyes, reinforcing that sense of isolation. So far I've seen each episode two or three times and each viewing justdraws me in deeper.I really hope this show becomes successful; in what will be seen as aGolden Age (Bones, In Plain Sight, White Collar, The Closer, Rizzoli &Isles, Harry's Law, Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, Leverage, The Glades,Fairly Legal, Suits, Franklin and Bash, Ncis, Csi NY, Csi Miami, Csiand a few I either don't like or have forgotten), it matches its peersmatchlessly. As an aside, has anyone else noticed the absolute abundance of richeswe've enjoyed for the past couple of years?
this is quite possibly the best new TV show of the 2011-2012 TV season.I've been really impressed with the TV shows that have been coming outas of late and its been a while since I've seen a really good crimedrama like this one. This is another JJ Abrams masterpiece ...I have toadmit I'm becoming a huge fan of anything JJ Abrams these days. but theshow its self has a lot to offer. From a captivating storyline, to verybelievable actors and characters, to it action scenes on the streets ofNew York, there really is never a boring moment in any of the episodesthat I have seen to date. I think Jim Caviezel has come into his own inthis show and is at the breaking point of stardom. This show is a mustsee in my book.
Precog in Minority, prophesying loom in Wanted and now predictivecomputer system. Not exactly ground breaking. So what is left to raise it above thecommon run ?Nothing. The pilot was suitably slick and gripping. so had to reserve judgementand yet reservations were glaringly apparent.Insipid second episode has confirmed them. Leads have presence but no chemistry. They play their parts but don'tcome together to create anything special.Action is good but good action sequences are a dime a dozen.Plot twists aren't hard to imagine. Gee, wonder whose number is goingto show up ? Same doubt as with human target. Namely, action will get really old, really quick and what will be left ? Even with overarching mystery there are going to be a lot of episodeslike the second one. How many legs can you see shot, how may absurdlywell choreographed fights before you tune out ? Wish them well. Thank you.
The show provides A glimpse of the U.S. Patriot Act and London'sprolific use of camera's to solve and track criminals showing us how weare all under surveillance in one form or another. In this particular case we follow two very different charters; one whomwhile under contract for the "Government" created a computer systemwhich seeks out those who would do harm to the U.S. as a Terroristthreat. His computer system utilizes those tools that most of us know are inuse but would rather bury are head in the sand about, until we feel the"Threat" to us is no longer viable. His system also provides the social security numbers of those that arein imminent danger but are not a terrorist threat to the U.S. as awhole and therefore deemed irrelevant. It is those social security numbers that haunt him, so while hefinalized his program he created a back door that only he can accessand can close at anytime. It is his wish to someday be able to helpthose people the system doesn't care about. He created a back story where after he created his computer system he"died" in an unknown accident, but not before becoming very rich viainvestments and his corporation he founded yet never ran publicly. Hehad a figure head for that. Now dead officially and financially able to help those whom are deemedin a clear and present danger via there social security number beingselected by the system, yet deemed not important,He requires help tocomplete his mission. In a search for the perfect accomplice we find an ex CIA special opsagent whom is also classified as killed in action, but now leading alife of revenge over the loss of the only woman he ever cared about. This has him spiraling out of control, drinking too much, livinghomeless and cares less whether or not he dies. The two join forces to save those they can and learn that the socialsecurity number provided does not always mean that that person is introuble as in fact some of them are the ones creating the danger forothers. This show has endless possibilities as to where it can go as it ishemmed in by nothing. Todays society provides enough intrigue to fuelthis show for many years and perhaps opening the eyes of those who livea "comfortable" life of going to work and coming home, neverconsidering how they are kept safe, nor the extent of the Governmentintrusion into their life as well as everyone else's.Does this scare you or comfort you that you are being watched, trackedand followed by the now prolific world of surveillance.
one of the best series ever all the episodes so far has beenfascinating. I'm hook up to it, the plot in this series is unique and Ithink John Reese(Jim Caviezel) is becoming one of my favorites heroeson T.V he is kind of like Jack Bauer from 24 but more subtle andprecise; thumbs up for this series is the kind of show that would keepyou on the edge of your seat on every episode and the fighting scenesand gun fight on this series are awesome. I compared this series to 24because the John Reese character reminds a lot Of Jack Bauer on thefighting style and the way he handles guns and gets out of dangeroussituations but unlike Jack Bauer he's a soft and calm guy kind of likea combination of Jack and James Bond, he's got Jack's fighting styleand guns skills but softness and calmness of James Bond.
Did anyone here read or watch the movie Remo Williams it was written byRichard Sapair and Warren Murphy. It was a story about a man the had aneye on everything going on although not by camera so much but by peoplethat sent in tips. They did not know to whom they sent them to. Hefound out that just by info alone he could not do his job protectingpeople so he found his enforcement arm and ex-military named Remo andhad him taught martial arts from Chun. This is where it differs but Mr.Finch looks a lot like Mr. Harold Smith and Mr. Reeds looks like Remoand also fights like Remo but with weapons. I am looking forward to seewhere this show goes. I love it.
"Person of Interest" is the brainchild of Jonathan Nolan, the brotherof director Chirstopher Nolan. Jonathan wrote the screenplays forChristopher's movies "Memento", "Batman Begins", "The Prestinge", "TheDark Knight", as well as the upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises", and "Manof Steel", which Christopher is producing. But, back to "Person ofInterest". John Reese (Jim Cavezil. OK, I did NOT spell that right. It's the guy that played Jesus in "Passion of the Christ", is a formergovernment agent who experienced a tragic event in his past, and wantsto conceal it from everyone. He is essentially homeless, but possessessome pretty impressive fighting skills. It's these fighting skills thatmake him noticed by two people: the first is an NYPD agent, Carter(Taraji P. Henson), who doens't really know who Reese is, and Reesedoens't want to reveal anything to her. The other person is Finch(Michael Emmerson), a mysterious millionaire who was hired by thegovernment after 9/11 to create a Big Brother like machine that wouldhelp save innocent people from being killed. But, eventually, theMachine began to take on a mind of it's own, and Finch took mattersinto his own hands, helping these people on his own, without the helpof the government. It's this that leads him to Reese. He sees in Reesesomeone like him, a person who can't get over past tragedies, and it'sthose tragedies that are holding him back from being successful. Finchand Reese become somewhat of business partners, with Finch using Reeseto find ways to save innocent people. But, sometimes, these people arenot as innocent as they seem.Johnathan Nolan has created a truly original show here. A gritty worldfilled with corrupt, and often complex characters. That's partiallywhat makes this show so good. It's ORIGINAL. The world that it portraysmay be unfaltering, and corrupt, but something about it feels REAL. Youcan relate to Reese, however, you don't know enough about Finch'smysterious past to really care about him. However, Michael EmmersonDOES portray this extremely strange and complex character in a way thatmakes him strangely likable. The action and fight sequences feel likesomething that belongs in a movie, particularly, one that Johnathan'sbrother, Christopher, would probably direct, and that Johnathan wouldprobably write. This IS a VERY VERY good show, and it's one that willcertainly surprise you.
Michael Emerson, the short guy who played the leader of the Dharmagroup in Lost is one of the 2 main characters. He creates a largecomputer/software/machine for the govt, after the 911 attacks, thatscans all communications, CCTV, cellphones, the internet, everythingcompiling data to automatically determine threats, terrorist attacks,so that they can be stopped before it happens (like Minority Report). But the machine also identifies ordinary crime which because its notactionable, as you cannot arrest someone before a crime is committed isdiscarded at midnight everyday. Michael Emerson leaves the govt, but hehas built in a hole into the system so that it sends him a singlesocial security number that is at the top of that list. To make surethat this hole is never discovered, he has constrained himself to this9 digit number and so he has no more information about why that personwas selected. He don't even know whether that person is the victim orthe killer! This causes a dilemma in most episodes as to protect whomfrom whom!!He then tracks and finds Jim Caviezel, who is a middle aged ex-specialforces and ex-CIA, but now a bum living on the streets trying to killhimself by drinking. The girl he loved got killed, and he had left thecia and become a bum. Michael Emerson convinces him to work for him. Both Michael Emerson and Jim Caviezel are presumed dead. MichaelEmerson is a billionaire and along with this exceptional computerskills his only purpose in live now is to save the person whose numbercomes up every day. This is in effect a vigilante movie with Jim Caviezel as the actionman, and Michael Emerson as the billionaire side kick who provides theresources and technical skills like research and hacking. This along with 'Homeland' and 'Once Upon a Time' seems like the bestTV shows to come out this year.JJ Abrams is the executive producer, and it really shows. The editingis tight, the camera work is perfect, and the attention to detail isjust superb. Each episode is like a movie. It shows a different kind of person introuble every week, a different kind of situation, always varied, exploring things like mob/organized crime one week, an ex-Germanhit-man on one, a Judge being threatened with his abducted child, anex-army many in trouble after being discharged, etc, etc. This show is as good as Dexter. Highly Recommended............(If you are downloading make sure you get at least a 480p version andnot the regular avi thing. This one deserves the higher quality.)Cheers!! :-)..........
I will be honest. I gave up watching TV programming for a long time. Inevery TV show entertainment , contest , talk show , series I wasrecognizing same lame similarities and banality for last few years.Person of Interest renewed my faith in serialized crime/thriller drama. Now it is the only TV series I follow in entire week. Acting is greatto watch. Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson add nuances and layers totheir characters with their fine acting skills. I am not a fan of JJAbrams at all. I gave up watching LOST after first two seasons. Hisother series were mediocre to terrible. But here in PoI he is balancedwith great Jonathan Nolan in production department. This adds a wholeThe Dark Knight vibe to series which I love. I hope they do not screwup main storyline or character arcs. Person of Interest brought mychildhood with vigilante hero/adventure series like Knight Rider or TheEquilizer. I am eagerly waiting next episode !Don't screw up CBS ! You got a new audience.
At the show's premiere I thought this is just another piece ofvigilante show with some hi-tech gadgets. But I am decently beingsurprised by the rest of the season 1. The season is still running butat this point, I can conclude that POI is one of the shows that "keepme waiting for the next".No need to reiterate the plot here, the story is prettily carried out.Every episode one number = a person needs help, and one bigconspiracy/bad guy behind the whole season and connects the episodestogether. Every POI has kind of normal life on the surface but deepdown, they were vulnerable, sometimes they became part of theconspiracy. The episodes just peeled open the onion and took me bysurprise every now and then. The "vigilante helping people" shows suchas Burn Notice, Leverage or even Castle are gradually losing momentumsas the more seasons are renewed. It is more and more obvious that theseshows are falling deeper and deeper into cliché: every episode has thevery same formula and the stories were becoming very predictable. Butnot this show, at least not yet.I have to praise Jim Caviezel with a word or two. Perhaps because hisrole in "the Passion", his appearance is just always that "Jesus" forme. Enigmatic and compassionate he is, he gives Jeffrey Donovan a runfor his money.Excellent show. Hope it will escape the TV show canceling spree oflate.
Awesome pairing of Jesus and Ben Linus. Love the play on Ben and"numbers" again, working towards a mysterious goal and making JesusBorne do the dirty work!Pretty decent, loads of great actors, great concept, well shot. The only real problem is the dialog; everything the characters say isway too obvious, too forward... kinda dumbed down. Its like they'restill trying to remember their lines or something. Weird pauses betweenbreaths, eyes looking to the right like their concentrating onsomething else. Hopefully they can make adjustments as the show goes onbecause its really distracting. Its still a worthwhile show, it has sentiments of Batman without thesuit and the ridiculous mcgruff voice. I hope they keep it going.
When I picked this show out to watch, I haven't even payed attentionthat it was Nolan's creation. I guess I should. This is definitely oneof those shows I will keep watching. The plot is very interesting; two guys team up to help people beforethey get murdered. One of them built a 'machine' for the US gov, but hedoesn't have full access to it anymore, so all info they get about whois in trouble is just social security number. For all skeptics outthere; I do see how this may be strange - how could one machine predictthis. Then again it may be not so far from reality. After all computerscan already measure the level of stress in your voice, they can detectcertain 'dangerous' words and out them together, they can analyze yourfacial expressions, etc. So it's not (total) Science fiction. In anycase, it's worth watching.
