Remarkable and Truly Inspiring

I had seen this movie come and go a few weeks ago. Suddenly, it cameback, along with some interesting talk about it. I'm glad I saw it andstrongly recommend it to everyone out there. Be warned, it will requirethat you concentrate and pay attention to its message. There are nohidden agendas here; it simply demands that you look at yourself,dispose of all the extra baggage that you carry and focus on thepresent to make the best of it.There are questions about how it all came together, and what some ofthe symbols mean. For instance, who is the old man? Is he a God likefigure, or personalized intuition? Why did our young protagonist get achance that others didn't? Where does faith lie in the middle of thedrama? It probably doesn't really matter since the message remains thesame: It's time to put a little more effort and truly go after what youreally want.The young man in the film just happens to be an athlete who gets asecond chance and blows it! Still, there is more to be discovered andpursued. In fact, it might not all be over. I loved the way "Socrates"interacts with his disciple, slowly teaching him the ways of knowledgeand meditation, leading him yet not enabling and influencing hischoices, allowing him to learn from his own observations and mistakes.In short, teaching him to believe in himself, yet never diluting theimpact of the process, painful as it might be.The film moves very well, and there are moments when we are not quitesure what we are witnessing. It's spiritual, or is it paranormal? Is ita tale of faith, a ghost story, a love story, a tale of reckless youth.Whatever it might be, it's truly inspiring and soul searching. It willprobably help a few members of the audience reflect on what is going onwith themselves and the world around them, and how much power we trulyexert on our destinies or chose not to have? There are inspiring films,and there are gems like these: movies that are entertaining, soulful,full of feeling, intelligence, and not in any manner condesending andobtuse. This is a film that trusts its audience and encourages them tosearch whatever, specific truth, they might be needing.A classic.

A great story for all!

I've read "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" more times than I can count,and I thought it was an excellent adaption. None of the key points wereleft out, and the actors where perfectly cast for their roles. NickNolte was great as Socrates, portraying the wisdom in the book withoutpreaching. Scott Mechlowitz was an awesome embodiment of young Dan, andAmy Smart was the perfect Joy.I took three different groups of people to see "Peaceful Warrior" andeveryone felt like they had taken something positive and strong awayfrom the film. It has a message that all people, in any age bracket,can learn from. Great job to all who were involved in bringing this tothe big screen!

Wonderful film about struggles, set backs and returning to full strength. Can apply to many situations young and old. READ the book for the full experience....

For a story that is supposed to be about gymnastics and Eastern philosophy, The Peaceful Warrior is as riddled with homo-eroticism as Robert Smigel's 'Ambiguously Gay Duo' cartoons on Saturday Night Live.

Here is a film you and your friends...loved ones and family shouldsee...it is a Journey that will inspire you and give you strength andpower ...and hope...few films should not be missed...this is one ofthose few...It is just that kind of heart warming...insightful works of art...in atime of such fear anger and WAR...this is a river of kindness...and amountain of knowledge not to be missed...Go ...find it see it...makethem show it...and you will be apart of knowing what it is to be aPeacful Warrior... Great Movie!

I really liked this movie. Gives a good feeling after watching it. I'mgoing to see it again with a couple of friends. Nick Nolte is one of myfavorite actors and he does a great job here. I read the book by DanMillman and I found it to be very uplifting. The other actors werepretty good, and the story moves along really well. I went to thePeaceful Warrior website which was pretty cool too. I think everyoneought to go see the movie. It's important to watch movies like this ifyou've every had difficult times in your life and have struggled a lot.It gives you a different perspective on things. I think the screenplaywas very well written also.

I'd like 2 hours wasted hours of my life back

The comparison between Rocky and this movie is unwarranted. The main character in this movie is not as relatable or a good role model as the Rocky character. Instead, he is a very bratty, mean spirited, closed minded individual, even towards the person that helps him on his journey "Socrates." The characters are not very realistic for positive transformation to happen to and not much about this movie is great or inspirational. It was a horrible experience to sit through this hoping it would get better. Its your risk if you want to waste a few hours of your life.

I love this movie!

I have always been a fan of the book, and have reread it many timesover the years when I need inspiration. This movie has just as muchheart and humor as the book.. I highly recommend it! It is entertainingand above all hopeful. It helps teach the special lesson of living inthe moment and 'being here, now'. I'd say that even though the plotline is entertaining, it's the inspiration it gives and lessons itteaches that are the real draw to seeing this movie. Dan Millman is agreat author with a ton of books worth reading. If you enjoy this moviethere are other books in this 'series', such as: No Ordinary Moments: APeaceful Warrior's Guide to Daily Life, The Journeys of Socrates andSacred Journey of the Peaceful Warrior.

The one film, you must see in your lifetime - and you better see it quickly.

Absolutely shocking how powerful this movie is. It's one of the filmsthat will be loved by people who can relate to it, and I'm one of them.Dan Millman is Rocky for new generation. And who would've thoughtVictor Salva, who made Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2, was behind this. I'vewanted to see Peaceful Warrior since the first time I saw the trailer,I've read all the raving reviews about how amazing and life-changingthe book is and I was absolutely hyped for this. I wasn't disappointed,not even once. I think this film's message is so powerful, and soprofound that it puzzles me why this was so under the radar during it'srelease in the cinemas. I'm a 'sucker' for inspirational films - Ithink they're the one way to get people to learn something from themand take action in their own lives.Peaceful Warrior has now become one of my top favorite inspirationalfilms, up there with Dead Poet's Society, and Rocky

Living the life you were born to live!

I read this book several years ago and it moved me to make changes inmy life that have given me an experience I wouldn't have had withoutit. I'm not a crazy guy here attached to some cult. But when somethingas strong as this story and now the movie which was amazing, comesalong that helps bring an individual into understanding the worldaround you beyond the veil of denial we all live to one degree oranother, one can no longer live a life that is unconscious . Fullyrealizing your potential should be the goal of every living being;being responsible citizens of the world, it should be your goal toencourage that realization. Enjoy!

My favorite movie!

I typically do not watch movies over again, thus I don't usually buy movies. However, this one is an exception. I have watched this movie several times and it resonates with me every time. It's not really the story, but rather the messages within the story that are so powerful. Finally I bought a copy (and returned the other one back to my sister)! Because I like the movie so well, I looked into Dan Millman's books. The Law of Spirit is very good as well.

Most Excellent

The Peaceful Warrior is about surrendering to this process called life.It's about surrendering to this body and all that comes with it. It'sabout awaking to the fact that we are more than this body, andexcepting everything that is placed before us as a gift.We are all on some track or another. To imagine (or believe) that theDivine can summed up as one track would be absurd. Switching tracks isthe fun of life. I love the feeling of jumping into a new unknownreality. The Divine is constantly working through each of us, if we butlook. We are the Divine, if we but feel with our hearts.We are all brightly lost in the dream. We must all overcome certainobstacles in this life. Each person's path has it's rocky patches. Themind can become mired in it's own processes. It's only with the heartthat one can see clearly. Love makes it so.The Peaceful Warrior is an example of our true possibility.

Touching and gripping

This film is about the encounters of a young and promising athlete'sencounters with a wise old man.This film reminds me of Finding Forrester starring Matt Damon. Yet, Ithink it is superior to Finding Forrester, as it captured my attentionespecially the latter half of the movie.Acting by Scott Mechlowicz is excellent. He is able to convey the angerand frustration of his character fully. I am also very impressed by allthe gymnastic moves, and the way that these moves are shot in such adynamic, graceful and gripping manner.This is a touching and gripping film that you would not want to miss!

It was free;;;;;

I went and saw this movie because I received free tickets. Myexpectations were not very high for I am a person without any goals,and or ambition. I don't believe in setting goals or having dreams orany of such nonsense. So I wasn't expecting this sort of film toinspire me. However after watching this film I don't know how it couldinspire anyone. When the guy had the accident I didn't feel bad for himat all. I doubt anyone watching the film did. The dialogue was a totalmockery. I could have written a better script "With half my brain tiedbehind my back" (Limbaugh). Overall the only thing that saved thismovie was that it was free, meaning I paid nothing to go see it.

One Of The Most Profound Films I Have Seen In A Very Long Time!

What makes this great flick so unusual is the moviegoer can actuallylearn something tremendously useful and be entertained at the sametime! Dan Millman has written several books on his life transformingexperiences, I'm so glad he was able to make his story come alive onthe Big Screen! What a sheer delight to watch from beginning to end! Scott Mechlowicz,of Odyssey 5 fame, is a wonderful actor, and plays the star role withgreat passion and conviction. If there's any justice in Hollywood, heshould be getting some bigger acting jobs! He's a rising star! TomCruise watch out! He may soon be nipping at your heels! Unfortunately, this movie lasted for only a week, or two, at one of myvery small, local independent theaters! Where was the P.R. budget? Ithardly made a blip on the radar screen! It's outrageous that one of theyear's best movies will be a very well kept secret, indeed!Other than Superman Returns, I can think of no other 2006 release thatmoved me so deeply. While Peaceful Warrior maybe a flop in the UnitedStates, one can only hope the same mistakes are not repeated when themovie is released internationally!!

Waking up to what's real

An excellent film that I have been recommending to everyone! Powerfulmessages to wake us up to our lives and to what's really happening.Socrates does a great job at "stretching our minds." Inspiring,Insightful, thought provoking, really hits home in it's reminder to befully present here and now and all the miracles that come with that.Helps us see beyond our self imposed limitations and awaken to thepower within. We can all learn from this movie. Gets us to stop runningon auto pilot and really pay attention. It's great to have a film thatreminds us of our spirits. A must see! We need more films like this! Myfamily and I will buy this film when it comes out and watch it over andover again!

What an incredible film

I am not a movie critic. I just like a good movie. This movie was aboveand beyond what I would classify as a good movie. I left this movie achanged person. I work in the emergency room and most of the people I take care ofwould benefit from the theme of this show which for me was start bylooking within and live in the moment. I also took my two teenagedaughters to this movie. My oldest daughter sent me a text today thatsaid, "I have emptied the trash and I am enjoying the journey!" Take yourself, then your spouse or significant other, then your familyand all your friends. See it more than once.
