Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "My Teacher's Wife". They represent actual movie quality.
this film has a pretty basic plot involving a high school senior who getstutoring from and eventually has an affair with his math teacher's gorgeouswife, the stunning and physically breathtaking Tia Carrere.the acting is actually what sets this movie somewhat apart from others init's genre. the actors give their characters more depth than the plotcould've asked for and makes some of the situations morebelievable. despite the risque title, the movie is surprisingly restrained in the sexand nudity departments. Tia Carrere DOES get ample time to show off herperfect body in some tastefully revealing but not trampy outfits. plus, shegets to play the character as a smart lady and not the normal airhead thatthese types of movies usually require. the sex scenes in this film aren'texplicit and are over fairly quickly. while this movie has direct to video cheese fest written all over it, dig alittle deeper and you'll find a decent and well acted time waster. it's notgreat, but it does what it set out to do pretty well. rating:6.5
O.K. Firstly, whoever wrote the editorial shown above doesn't know how to critique movies. I watch alot of movies, and this movie was far better than the most of what i watch. The plot was excellent. It's a situation that you don't want to fall into, but than you kind of imagine about it or everyone once in awhile get there. High school senior falls in love with beautiful wife of his math teacher. It's a probably setting. I mean don't you ever get into situation where you find someone you really like, but you are totally not in the right position to have a relationship. Some people might say this movie is too didactic or "do-the-good-thing' type of movie. Well, I think this movie is more than that. It did make me interested in the plot. Over all, I would say this is very excellent movie and if you are looking for a half 'chick fleak' and half 'comedy' type of movie, go ahead and order this DVD. It's PRETTY GOOD.
This movie looks like it is going to be a teen sex comedy, but itreally surprised me how seriously it took itself. It actually works tobe a drama, and some of it is actually effective. You can't really blame me for being misled--the presence of ChristopherMcDonald alone seems to suggest an off-the-wall sense of humor. Buteven he plays it straight in a story that has one foot in a teenfantasy, and several feet in Degrassi-style soap opera. The plot revolves around a high school kid who gets a math tutor whohappens to not only be an attractive woman, but the wife of his mathteacher. His performance in the math class is given special importancebecause the instructor apparently had enough pull to help the kid getinto a prestigious college. He ends up having an inappropriaterelationship with the tutor, almost costing him two friendships and thecollege recommendation. The climax comes when he finally gets anadmissions interview at Harvard and realizes he is not sure it is whathe really wants. In the end, he learns a lesson and gets his life backin order. His two best friends are still talking to him, although henow has a platonic relationship with his ex-girlfriend. I thought Tia looked really cute in this movie, but none of theperformances or humor really moved me. I thought the Jeffery Tamborcharacter worked WAY too hard at being senstive and understanding whilestill having high expectations. He made me squirm. I was especiallydisappointed that Christopher McDonald didn't have any good lines. Ididn't dislike this movie, I just don't think I will watch it again.
Despite the cheesy title, this is a smart, funny, realistic look at life as a senior in high school with all the pressures and fantasies that includes. Jeffrey Tambor is hilarious and Tia Carrere proves she can really act. Zak Orth is a great newcomer, too. Check it out!
Despite the risque title (it was actually released under the even worsetitle My Teacher's Wife in the US), this is a well-acted and entertainingcoming-of-age film. Jeffrey Tambor is hilarious, Tia Carrere proves she canactually act, and Zak Orth as the socially awkward sidekick nearly stealsthe movie. If you're in high school facing the pressures of college or justremember that time well in your nightmares, you'll definitely relate tothisone.
Overall I loved the movie.... although in the end I was left with questions... does he end up with the wife ir what??? yeesh.... i hate no ending movies .... tell all or don't make the movie ....
This review is from: My Teacher's Wife (Amazon Instant Video) I liked this movie because it is a fun movie to watch. Plus I am a fan of Jason London, ever since I saw A Man in the Moon, years ago.
This is a cute movie with creditable acting but the plot is fairly simple and uncomplicated. I didn't think I wasted my time watching it because it had enough entertaining scenes to capture continuing interest.
I personally like this film because of the fact that Tia shows her skill in acting. Even if a body double did play the nude love scene, Tia still shows why she is so hot.
Good movie, quite a few funny parts, easy to relate to high school kids. Tia Carrere is red-hot as always, good entertainment for a couple of hours.
After seeing so many unfunny movies from the "Comedy Section" of my local video store I was delighted to find this movie. This movie is a cut above the usual Tutor/Student Comedy and Ms. Carrere is funny, sweet and oh so gorgeous in it. Her performance alone lifts this film way above the genre of the horny teenager who meets a sexy older woman who tutors him. I have never seen Ms. Carrere give a bad performance and I hope her star continues to rise in Hollywood.
This movie holds true to many people remember those high school days inwhich many of us teenage boys had a crush on certain female teachers weliked. Change it some put yourself in the shoes of a struggling calculusstudent who has his tough teacher climbing his neck and dreams of a collegescholarship about to go in flames. Never fear an accident meeting with thesexy Tia Carrere who later turns out to be his teacher's wife! Not only doesTia take the young student through winning calculus training but apassionate romance develops. Only when the student has his teacher find outit all ends and a life lesson is learned and back to normal life. This movieshows that our fantasies can come true but they don't last and we must liveour basic life. I watched this movie on USA one night late though it's not agreat movie it's good due to the story and the beautiful TiaCarrere.
You could do a lot worse than to pass a rainy afternoon viewing this delightful teen comedy. Director Bruce Leddy makes an impressive directorial debut, extracting good performances from his ensemble cast (this is the best work Tia Carrere has ever done!), and staging some impressively blocked scenes. Look for the big "revelation" scene between Jason London, Chris McDonald and Tia Carrere. Very nice indeed. Special marks also go to the film's cinematography. At times it recalls the work of Gordon Willis on Woody Allen's color films. Also look out for newcomer Zak Orth as London's sidekick. Why is this kid not a star? Overall, fun flick, good looking DVD transfer (also includes Theatrical trailer and cast notes), and nice soundtrack. Worth a look. A very pleasant surprise.
This undemanding comedy has some good moments, but in the end, it's aforgettable film. This movie certainly was fun at times, but the story wasordinary and not particularly original. The reasonably well-known castdoesa pretty good job, but the script didn't provide them with an abundance ofgood material. So, I suppose this is a decent choice the next time thatyouwant to see a film, but I still urge you to look for somethingbetter.
Are you tired of all those boring, stupid, and completly insipid movies aboutteenagers? I know I am. But I wholeheartedly recommend "My Teacher's Wife",which is a sweet little slice-of life tale about a high school senior (wellplayed by Jason London, in the best performance he has ever given.), whofalls in love with the wife (Tia Carrere) of his calculas teacher (awonderfully detestable Christopher Mc Donald.)It may sound trashy, but it is excellently done and very insightful onfriendship and matters of the heart.I think this movie is an underrated gemand the best teen comedy I have ever seen.
To paraphrase Thora Birch: "I kind of like this movie. It's the exactopposite of everything I hate in a film".This obscure film was too low key and intelligent to get a theatricalrelease, any chance for success would have needed a costly promotionalcampaign. And a coming of age story where nothing spectacular happens -where instead the focus is on character development, has a limitedtarget audience. Whoever heard of a mature teen movie? But if you have an opportunity to see this or if you can part with afew bucks for the DVD, you could do a lot worse. "My Teacher's Wife" isnothing revolutionary but it has a lot going for it and holds up wellto repeated viewings.Jason London (as high school senior Todd Boomer) is the star and fitsthis character as well as his parts in "The Man In the Moon" and "Dazedand Confused". He is helped out by exceptional work from his supportingcast. Tia Carrere in the title role is a revelation (she can act) asTodd's calculus tutor and love interest. Christopher McDonald as theteacher in a nice self-parodying performance. Zak Orth and AlexondraLee as Todd's best friends, and Jeffrey Tabor as his father. As someone commented earlier, this is a "mature" teen movie because theromantic relationships are universally unsuccessful-at least bytraditional happy ending standards. Even Todd's parents are indifferentto each other, with his father panting after the title character andhis mother (Leslie Lyles) literally on the telephone during her entiretime on screen (a device that provides increasing comedy relief witheach successive appearance). The London-Carrere romance has unexpectedcharm and is far more believable than any other older woman storylineyou are likely to find. But the real strength of the film is the evolving relationship of thethree friends. There is no overwrought melodrama here, just threeimmature people who alternate between testing and trusting each other, subject to all the dynamics that three young people can bring to thiskind of thing. They actually manage to pull off a "believable"three-person relationship, perhaps the first one in cinema history. Then again, what do I know? I'm only a child.
Tia Carrere was the reason I decided to watch this film, as neither thetitle, nor the cover would have been enough to make me spend my timeand money on this film  which goes to show, me and everyone, that aDVD shouldn't be judged by it's cover.***SPOILERS*** The film felt like it was trundling along, not reallygoing anywhere for the moment  the awkwardness of Paul Faber (ZakOrth) around girls being almost too embarrassing to watch, and thefringe on the otherwise attractive Kirsten Beck (as Alexondra Lee)being too school-girlish to watch. Where those really fashionable in1995?The relationship between Vicky Mueller (Tia Carrere) and Todd Boomer(Jason London) was tantalising from the start of though! That firstmeeting across the lake  magical. What a beautiful coincidence theyshould meet again just as he has behaved like a complete moron("Boomer, with two O's as in moron ") in front of Alexondra. A shamereally that we as the audience knew who Vicky Mueller really was.(Well the title did give that away, wouldn't you think?)What really surprised me was the acting. Especially in the scene whereVicky gives Todd a metal version of his alter ego (the dog character),in the little white jewellery box. The actors really managed torecreate that tingling sensation of a first kiss  point of no returnfor Todd and Vicky. A shame really that the film ends with focus on(after getting over Todd's fathers Harvard drive) his re-uniting withhis friends. I could envision a whole new film  following Vicky to NewYork  there must be a good art University there that Todd couldattend?!?Nevertheless, a film that does just what we want Hollywood to:entertain us for the duration of the film. Did anyone else notice hownone of the loves are happy ones in this film? Todd's mother isslightly insane (on the phone 24/7), his Dad doesn't find herattractive (any more?) Todd's teacher obviously is disenchanted by hiswife and vice versa  Todd himself enters into a wonderfully erotic &daring relationship which, however nice it may be, would realisticallybe very difficult to maintain (age difference, maturity differenceetc), and Alexondra & Zak do not get together because Alexondra is notmature enough to handle a relationship (-> her reactions towards thecondom, the cheating, Zak's advances etc. are all very immature, andoften involve running away), and Zak himself, the poor guy  is toomuch of a best friend/like a brother-guy to pull even Alexondra.Mind you, good film though! I gave it an 8/10. Brilliant performance bythe actors - who bring the script to life.
First of all, there is one nude scene with Tia Carrere showing her tops (but I think it is a body double) as the scene didn't show Ms. Carrere's face. Other than that there is not much to see from this teen oriented sexy comedy. The plot about a high school student who falls for her sexy math tutor who happens to be the wife of his math professor. Besides Tia Carrere, there is nothing else this movie can offer.
If Tia Carrere was my math tutor, I want to study too. She is theepitome of beauty. A great smile, piercing eyes, long legs, and mostimportant of all, she thinks of herself as just another girl. Sheisn't, but it's nice anyway. Much has been made of the sex scenes, butTia was never very comfortable with body, until she was the Playboycover girl of January 2003, if that's what you are looking for. This isa passable movie that isn't the raunchy romp that the exploitive coverart makes it out to be. Zak Orth is the center of a more emotionalmovie. It's that odd combination that brings the movie down. Itsucceeds as neither. Mute it and watch Tia, unless you feel more likegetting in touch with your feelings.
This was one of her sexiest videos ever!!!
