First off, the Plot Outline about this movie is totally wrong. It'snothing to do with evil mutants killing college students. This movie is a look into the past (skeletons in the closet) arisingslowly out of a trouble-some woman ; in a marriage who don't know whatshe wants. Her husband, played by Zach G., of 'Gremlins' fame, is ameek, quiet brother of his oldest brother : a more street wise man, returning in his life after a few years. With his return, he mustencounter his younger brothers wife, once his close lady. The rest youmust see. I thought it was a fairly good flick. Something you'd seeonce or twice with your girl eating popcorn and rubbing each otherscold feet in front of a wall-based flat screen , pixel- happytelevision set. Got it?LOL!
Krista's character uses men against each other.Ok plot. The movie earns its R rating with some graphic violence and Krista showingher top, by the way she looks remotely like Neve Campbell.
Get this video if you can find one. A too-nice young man has inherited the family mansion, but is in over his head with his choice for a wife. Advertised as an erotic murder thriller,Mortal Passions is really a black comedy with an assortment of memorable characters - I liked all of them. It's a masterpiece for Krista Errickson - a gorgeous meanie(years later I saw an old video of Little Darlings - a teens at camp movie - and there she was - the same *#$%*!). In Mortal Passions, she pretty much doesn't fool anyone (except her shrink). This is a great video to show guests if you want something fun but not stupid.
The makers of this generic thriller fell into a trap by carelesslyupdating old film noir formulas for a young audience unfamiliar withthe originals: mistaking a convoluted plot for a compelling story, andcasting actors who look too young for their roles (and thus resemblechildren playing dangerous grown-up games). The set-up is incrediblysloppy: a restless Beverly Hills wife plots with her lover to kill herhusband, but then conspires with her husband's brother, who kills thelover instead (to save his brother), and buries the corpse (whereelse?) in his brother's backyard. Kristin Erickson does her best togive the pivotal femme fatale role some depth, but her efforts arewasted on a character stripped by the script of ambiguity far too soon, leaving just another ruthless villainess. An almost upbeat epiloguefollows the contrived climax, and Sheila Kelly adds a bright spot withher portrayal of a bubble-headed actress/interior decorator who doesShakespeare in her spare time.
