What happened Nick? What happened? I watched 30 seconds of the Trailerfor it and I nearly pucked. Then I watched an episode of it. I nearly went into a crap inducedcoma.First off, I would like to say that this is the worst television I haveever seen. Movies, T.V. shows, even educational videos at school. AllBetter than this. The show begins with a horrible theme song. Not a catching jingle likeyou would find on Happy Days or Spongebob, but a poorly sung song thatsticks in your head and annoys you beyond reason. The plot line isexplained, which makes you laugh at it.The plot line is, A girl, Bessie Higgenbottom, is a member of somescout club. Bessie is under the sad impression that if she collectsenough badges (Over 4,000), she will transform into a bee themedsuperhero. Then the characters get introduced. Bessie is a nerd, a real nerd. Ageeky, 9 year old nerd without her 2 front teeth. the lack of her teethgive her a terrible voice which is extremely difficult to listen to andalways focuses on getting her badges, no matter what. Her friends areeven worse. Penny, a girl who doesn't know Poop from Pianos, and ateenage girl who ALWAYS has a teeny bratty voice which teens are"Famous" for. They were aiming to hit that bratty teen character, butwent way to far.And the individual episode stories are unbearable. In one of the mostrecent episodes, Bessie and Penny visit a rundown pizza place withnerdy animatronic figures, and Penny falls in love with a Kangaroo one.But as she continues dating the animatronic roo (With limited vocallines), the town goes up in arms in anger because the roo has beenstolen.horrible, I know. What happened Nick, What happened?
I have been looking through the comments and I am really confused whypeople seem to passionately hate this show. And all the reasons whypeople seem to hate it are not really explained well. Especially whoever TommypezMaster is. That was not even English. Only 3 comments hadany inkling of reasons that were backed up. And I understand not likinga show and saying it's not for me but to go as far as saying I almostpuked from watching is a bit irrational. And for anyone who says this is one of the dumbest shows...I'm confusedI thought that was the point of cartoons, to be dumb. What was 2 StupidDogs, Space Ghost, Ren and Stimpy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sponge Bob,Cow and Chicken? Did anyone learn anything from any of those shows? Nobut they all have a fan following. So for being stupid is not reallysaying much since stupid/toilet humor is generally excepted in theseother venues.I wonder what it is then these people are looking for in cartoons? I'mpartial to many types of cartoons, ranging from Beast Wars, the ones Imentioned above, anime, King of the Hill, and older cartoons likeboomerang stuff.I regard cartoons in 3 categories There are cartoons that have reallygood writing, there are cartoons that have really good and controlledart, then there are cartoons that can do both. Of course then there arethose that have none at all. Like Perfect Hair Forever, the writing andcartooning is atrocious but it will still make me laugh 3 in themorning...so there is that too.Anyways this show has something a lot of cartoons don't have acharacter driven cartoon. It doesn't need plot when she's there. I tendto like characters that are not by any means cool yet they believe theyare and never seem to stop loving themselves. Strangers with Candy islike that and so is Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. Those arecharacter's I can respect, so is Sponge Bob for that matter. It is alsoa show where the art, especially being flash is done by someone whoknows what they are doing unlike Fairly Odd Parents which is goodwriting but awful cartooning. Also someone mentioned something about it missing fluid animation. Thisperson obviously knows nothing about cartoons or media. When it seemsthey are skipping frames it is on purpose it is to embellish thecharacter's reaction to an event. Old cartoons from the golden age didthis, now maybe it seemed better because they did have access to money.Cartoons today are stuck in limited Animation so it's noticed more.Only Avatar is somewhere in between limited and full. Limited animationtakes better advantage of this trick in my opinion, look up Beany andCecile cartoons and you can see it used masterfully. Now what this cartoon maybe lacking, people seemed turned off bystereotypes and I'm not really partial to them either but they havetheir place. I mean Dexter's Lab was a extremely nerdy boy andextremely girly girl. The stereotypes were pretty strong. One episodethey switch interests and Dexter likes the pony and she likes the toughguy stuff, this wouldn't be funny without stereotypes. Messing withstereotypes I think is much funnier. Another show full of stereotypesis Jimmy Neutron with a lot of the same ones from Dexter except he has2 dumb friends where Mighty B has one. Not saying I support it I'm justtrying to get people to think about what they are saying critically. So my suggestion is for people who don't like this show instead ofstating they don't like whatever plot that's going on. They state whatthe expect from cartoons personally and state why this cartoon isn'tadding up to that standard, but also take a step back and think aboutwhat a cartoon is in the first place. If you are someone partial toTotally Spies or My Life as a Teenage Robot then I have real doubtsyou'll like this show.
The Mighty B! is an original, witty, well cast cartoon which is SOrefreshing from the endless hours of Dora and Diego I have had toendure. My 3 year old loves Bessie, Porche and Happy....and so do I!The comedic script makes me laugh. Bessie has an unyieldingdetermination coupled with a positive outlook and a wonderful sense ofself. If we think back we have all known a Porche in our lives and mostof us have known a Bessie...and deep down we all are routing for theBessies of the world. The message that the show conveys is always apositive one and there is a very limited amount (if any) of foullanguage that I would consider inappropriate for my 3 year old (unlikemany other cartoons). I truly hope that this show sticks around for avery long time. I really look forward to seeing what the happy-go-luckylittle girl with the adorable lisp will be up to next!
Watching Might B is like any other girlie high school movie or show, for example "The Mean Girls", or in life itself. There's always goingto be a nerd or a group of nerds, and there's always be popular girlswith high maintenance, hip fashion, glamour and all. Every girlsituation, there always be a nerd and a princess. Might B is the sameway. In the girl scout club called "Honeybee", Bessie Higgenbottom, ayoung 9 3/4 year old ambitious girl whose goal in life is to collectall the girl scout badges and be the best "Bee" (which makes her MightyB) in the girl scout group. Portia is the oh so popular girl,know-it-all in the Honeybee girl scout club. She's a bratty, snippy, conniving, self centered rich girl. Portia's mother, Mrs. Gibbons, isthe head leader of Honeybee who loves cosmetics and has the sameattitude like her daughter Portia. The show is about Bessie, a little girl who ventures to collect allgirl scout badges. Her life revolves around her girl scoutfriends--Penny, Portia, Gwen, her dog named Happy who can understandeach other, her little brother Ben, her mom, Mrs. Hilary Higgenbottom, and Bessie's shrink named finger--its Bessie's left hand index finger.Every episode has a meaningful lesson for all girl scouts and girlsalike. From a creative point of view, Amy Poehler of Saturday Night Live, ErikWiese of Spongebob Squarepants and Cynthia True of The FairlyOddParents created a brilliant cartoon for all ages. Like the themesongs of Spongebob Squarepants and The Fairly OddParents, Might B has acatchy, fun and happy-go-lucky theme song. It will definitely stick inyour minds because that's how cartoons are made.Creative minds think alike. And I give this show a thumbs up ten!
I don't know about the many detractors of this series, but I reallylove and must show support for THE MIGHTY B!, one of Nickelodeon'slatest shows, and the network's best new show, in my opinion. Afteralmost a whole decade of cartoons that got unfortunately canceled byNickelodeon, including INVADER ZIM, MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT, THEX's, and EL TIGRE: THE ADVENTURES OF MANNY RIVERA, I'm just glad to seeyet another good show that isn't SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, a show which isjust okay, but Nick seems to treat it as the Center of the Universe(like RUGRATS before it). I just hope they don't cancel THE MIGHTY B!after one season like the aforementioned shows (although MLAATR lastedfor three, and IZ a season-and-a-half), just to make room for *more*SPONGEBOB! (And face it, AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER is gracefullyfinished and done with, so leave it alone!)Having seen this series since last year, I thought of it as the girlscouts version of REN & STIMPY, as it's got the same animation style, same selection of vintage library music, and even the same kind ofgross-out humor. Yes, gross-out humor in a girls' cartoon! That'ssomething you don't see every day. Erik Wiese, one of the threecreators of this show, was a former John Kricfalusi animator. In fact,John K seems to have given this series his blessing, as he was featuredin the "Special Thanks" credit in the first episode! He was definitelywith this series in spirit.Series co-creator and UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE/Saturday NIGHT LIVEalumni Amy Poehler voices the titular character, Bessie Higgenbottom, ahilariously spastic and high-strung, but altruistic and lovable girlscout; she's a member of the San Francisco Honeybee Scouts. Othermembers include Bessie's obese friend Penny Lefkowitz (DannahFeinglass), and her snobbish frenemies Portia Gibbons (Grey Delisle)and Gwen Wu (Jessica DiCicco). Portia's mother Mary Francis Gibbons(Sarah Thyre) is the Honeybees' bourgeois troop leader, and, like herdaughter, has a love-hate thing for Bessie (because she wants Portia tosucceed). Other supporting characters include Bessie's single mother,Hillary (Megan Canavagh), her little brother Ben (Andy Richter), herrock band friend Rocky Rhodes (Nickelodeon vet/Poehler's SNL colleagueKenan Thompson), and last but not least, her reluctant but loyal petdog Happy (Dee Bradley Baker). Bessie's goal is to collect every singleHoneybee badge, so that, as said in the Honeybee Handbook, she willbecome a superhero called the "Mighty Bee," which Bessie envisions asher imaginary superhero alter-ego with a tall, muscular body.Poehler's performance of Bessie is, as expected of her, irrepressible, and it also adds to Bessie's outcast status. You know she's consideredan annoying outcast, but she's also funny and lovable at it, and somecan actually empathize with her. Poehler based her Bessie character ona similar character she played in UCB, a girl scout named Cassie. (Onewould probably go on about how this series is an UCB spin off!) I'malso impressed with Dee Bradley Baker as Happy! He was so convincing, sounding like a real dog trying to talk. One such golden moment in theseries is in the episode "Sweet Sixteenth," in which Bessie and Happydo "vocal warm ups" on a roller-coaster ride! It was just so funny andcute at the same time. The other voice talents are equally well done, including Delisle as the snobbish Portia. The theme song by Amy Milesand Michael Robertson, as well as the accompanying main title sequence, are among the craziest ever, and captures the essence of Bessie'sadrenaline rush.At this writing, a full half-hour special episode, "Dragonflies,"premiered just a week ago, and I can say that it was the most excitingepisode yet! Plenty of non-stop action throughout.Yes, I can handle gross humor, as well as loudmouth humor, as long asthe cartoon is *good*, which I think THE MIGHTY B! is. For me, itnostalgically hearkens back to the glory days of REN & STIMPY, and hasbecome one of my favorite cartoons. In closing, I highly recommend thisseries to everyone, especially fans of R&S and thereabouts! Otherwise, those expecting SPONGEBOB and AVATAR may as well stay away, or at least*try* to enjoy it!
Mighty B! is an OK cartoon. High production value, but not totallyunique. After all, kids love the same formula. But what I think is really intriguing is the fact that this characteris based off one of Amy Poehler's UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE characters,"Cassie." Cassie, played by Poehler can be seen in Episode 101: Bucketof Truth, and is called back a few other times throughout the threeseason run. Cassie, like Bessie, is a girl scout, she has a hilariouslisp, and her troupe name is "The Honeybees". UCB is in my opinion the funniest most creative show ever ontelevision... ever. But Mighty B! just seems like an average cartoon.Even if Amy Poehler and Matt Bessie, I mean Besser, have a hand increating it.
I saw two episodes of this. They were just plain stupid and unfunny. The show is about this annoying girl-scout with a lisp, who thinks thatsomehow she will transform into a man-bodied superhero if she collectsover 4000 badges. The show tries hard to make you laugh with lame toilet humor andoverused stereotypical humor(there's actually a hippie called Rainbow, you can imagine how bad it is).The plots are plain and uninteresting(ie- Bessie and her fat friendhave to take care of babies and loses one.)and seem extremelyunoriginalBessie is so annoying that you want to reach into your T.V.'s speakersand strangle that blittle brat. This show should be CANCELLED!
When shows starring little boys or animal boy... things. Like Ren &Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, heck, even Crayon Shin-chan. They'retreated as classic pieces of subversive animation. And if you don'tlike it, you're a prim and proper, an anime nerd, or awful girly thing. And the shows always seem to star little boys of some sort, targeted atlittle boys. And honestly, it's kinda sexist. "Snips and snails and puppy dog tails"and "sugar, spice, and everything nice". Every girl is a cloud ofperfume that never has to use the bathroom. And boys are a collectionof hardcore toxic waste. How banal has the gross out comedy become, notbecause it's a gross out comedy, but because it focuses on males beinggross.Bessie Higgenbottom of the Mighty B! is here to set things right. Withan absolute hoot of a comedy of the veins of Ren & Stimpy. But evenmore refreshing. And it's easy to see how, as many reviewers aretargeting this show for being "gross and vapid" in a way they'd nevertarget the boys shows.Clearly our culture has some work to do when so many people are freakedout by a little girl picking her nose. Bless Bessie Higgenbottom, weneed more of her kind.
