Kay and Jay are back in black as the scum-fighting super-agents - regulators of all things alien on planet Earth. Their latest mission to save the world from a total intergalactic disaster! When a renegade Kylothian monster disguised as a lingerie model threatens the survival of the human race, the boys of the MIB get the call to step up and get busy. With their headquarters under siege and time running out, Agents Kay and Jay enlist the help of Frank the Pug and a posse of hard-living worms to help them kick some seriously sexy alien butt!
In my opinion, Men in Black wasn't too bad, but it was equal to thefirst, only for one reason, and that reason is, that MJJ was in theremade it better, but they could of made his part longer and eventhough they seemed like they tried hard to put him in, they shouldof made his part longer, that's the only disappointment..Beyond that, Will and Tommy, were great with Lara, well that's myopinion, even though it doesn't count for much.
after the joke that was 'wild wild west' and the painfully annoying flop'Ali' Smith needed something to get back some respect but all this movieseems to be is a load of yes men milking his huge ego. I found it boring andnow where near as enjoyable as MIB. Also Mr Smith PLEASE spare us anymore ofyour soundtracks that you feel we all need, 'nod your head' more like 'bowyour head (in shame)'
This is not the better of the two TRUSST ME! It flat out isn't. In my opinion, I thought that the jokes were just as good. Anyway, the story is left off from the entertaining ending as to were agent K leaves agent J behind--oh yeah that reminds me---I didn't explain anything about the story about the first movie in my review of that, darn it, oh well, haha. Anyway, yeah...J was kind of a weak agent in the first one but then at the beginning of this one, he's kind of an agent that is dead ass serious and is...well...a good agent. So he's in buissness and K had basically retired in the previous movie but all of a sudden...an old foe of the organization shows back up on earth and K is basically the only one that can stop them because he is the only one that knows the secret of were the item is in which the aliens are searching for...but he's lost his memory...WAIT!!! They are able to bring his memory back and from there it turns into an action/comedy/mystery/hunt type thing. It was entertaining, there is a black chick in here that is hittin' on Will Smith and she's hot. But yeah, the only problem that I have with the movie is that they introduce these new villains which appear to be arch enemys, but we can't really understand how dangerous they are because we've never seen them before!!! Why they would do that to us I do not know...that's the only flaw right now that I can think of. There was actually more than one villain that they did this with. Anyway...this becomes that action comedy (like I have said, don't mean to be to repedetive...) and you need to intensify yourself while seeing it...will K and J find the secret item in New York before the evil alien??!?!?! Find out by seeing it---DON DON DOOOOOOOOON!!!!! I still really liked this alot though despite that ONE flaw. It's a FULL PRICE (spill rating) to me.
MIB II is a reasonable sequel to its imaginative predecessor. However, likeits antecedent, any immediacy generated by the entertaining plot andcolorful characters is once again spoiled by the seemingly ubiquitous actofproduct placement. As with recent hits Minority Report, The Panic Room andSpiderman, the film-makers have compromised their integrity and creativityto add in lucrative shots of cars, consoles, burgers andunderwear.
Better than the first, Men in Black II is what all blockbuster moviesshould be: full of talent, full of substance, full of fun and full ofeffects.Talent. Look at that list of actors. The talent is there. JohnnyKnoxville CAN act, people! He's not just that guy from Jackass! AndDanny Elfman for the score? Music plays a very important role in anymovie. Elfman plays his part beautifully and his timing is always spoton.Substance. This is a love story, on several levels. Some would all thisa buddy comedy, but it's really a love story. A buddy love story to usethe term coined by Blake Snyder in his book Saving the Cat. It's aboutJ and K and and their trials and tribulations of their relationship aspartners.Fun. There is fun even in dramas, the sarcastic kind of fun, but stillfun, and in this comedy, there is never a moment that isn't fun in someway. That's just how Barry Sonnenfeld rolls. If it's not the deliveryof a line, it's what you see and Sonnenfeld is really good and keepinga lot of humor in the background. (I think it's so you have to watchhis movies more than once ;)...)Effects. It's Men in Black 2! Everything MiB had and more, the sequel'seffects are kicked up more than a few notches. There are more aliens, bigger guns, crazier creatures and all the marbles in the universe arestill being thrown together to bring the audience a bigger better show. This movie gets a ten from me. It deserves a ten. It was masterfullywritten and performed. Read that book by Blake Snyder, then watch thismovie a few times and you'll see that this is one of the greats. And I am a movie snob.SIDENOTE: Really good special features on the 2-Disc set.
I'm going to start this review with a weird analogy. Bear withme.Films and their sequels are like meals. You can can cook them a differentway, maybe add some new spices, and it might even be an improvement on thefirst dish (say, 'Batman Returns' versus 'Batman'). But if you just reheatthe original - well, you've all microwaved leftovers. That's what happens to'Men In Black 2' - it's the same story, tasty enough but not as good as whenit was fresh out of the oven.Perhaps because we've been here before the film feels flat until Jonesappears. His weary, weathered face adds a bit of depth to the fun and he andSmith do the old funny-black-guy paired with straight-white-guy routinewell. There are some nice touches in the film, such as the aliencivilization kept in a locker or the Playstation control pad in therocket-car, and the various tentacled, feathered, scaled and wormlike aliensare cool. But some things are done poorly too - for instance Smith's loveinterest is weak, the much more interesting woman from the first film isdismissed in one line and the climax lacks something new.If you really liked the first MIB, or you are in the mood for some lightsci-fi/comedy and aren't feeling too critical, you should enjoy this. Butdon't expect to be thinking about it a few days later.6/10
Yes, it's sequel time again! I finally got around to watching this recentlyand I have to say I think I've found the perfect way to enjoy any movie.First, you have to listen to all the negative reviews of the film, then goand see it. You'll be expecting something so dire that the reality will be apleasant surprise, nay, even enjoyable. Such was the case withMIB2.That said, though, this has to be one of the most blatant "let's redo thefirst movie" sequels that I've ever seen. Let's recap...In the first movie the MIB have to recover the "galaxy on Orion's belt" orthe Earth will be destroyed. The love interest comes in the form of a morgueworker who falls for Will Smith. There's a big-ass alien monster that theMIB have a showdown with at the end. There's a scene with the MIB's carflying. In this sequel the MIB have to recover the "light of Zartha" or the Earthwill be destroyed. The love interest comes in the form of a waitress whofalls for Will Smith. There's a big-ass alien monster that the MIB have ashowdown with at the end. There's a scene with the MIB's carflying. You begin to get the idea? This isn't so much of a sequel as a blatantremake. The Italian Job remake is more different from its original than MIB2is from its predecessor.Having got that out of the way, the film still manages to amuse, thoughthere are moments where it does make you groan rather than laugh, the jokesbeing so predictable. But still, it has its moments. Frank the Pug is one ofthem. There's also more screen time for Tony Shalhoub's "Jeebs" characterthis time around, though there are only so many times you can see his head explode and grow back before it getsstale.Tommy Lee Jones seems to be totally bored this time around. One wonders ifhe was dragged kicking and screaming back to the set due to contractualobligations. His usual deadpan delivery really did look as if he wished hewere dead. Overall though, nothing spectacular. I have to say that I'm finding itincreasingly difficult to feel any sympathy with Hollywood studios overmovie piracy when they churn out such blatant money-spinners asthis.Never mind. Let's just hope there isn't a MIB 3!
I really wanted to see this movie but when got a chance was kinda of disappointed there was no story at all the jokes were ok but still they lacked something the one with Micheal Jackson was a good one but over all could had been lot better plz dont make Men In Black 3
I went inside the movie yesterday expecting low expectations after all thehorrendous reviews I'd read, and guess what?.......I half liked andhalf-didn't like this movie.I really enjoyed the sequel, and do you know why? Because it wassomethingNEW and CREATIVE back then. The alien designs were great, as were theactors, dialogue, and pretty much everything. How does the sequel measure up? OK, first off, I don't think the actorsdida bad job. Maybe people just think this because they've already seenthesecharacters before. I found most of the new ones to be good, except LauraFlynn Boyle; her performance was just bad, and I don't get why everyone'sgiving her the only thumbs-up. And I do feel sorry for Rip Torn; hebarelyappeared here(And wasn't that scene where he went kung-fu justridiculous?).The alien designs...Gah, what happened? They have none of the charm oftheoriginals. All the new ones look unoriginal or just plain creepy andunappealing. The only exception to this is Jeff, a subway monster whopopsup at the beginning and the end. We needed an alien likethat(Unfortunately, Serleena was a carbon copy of him, only withtentacles.).However, I personally liked the returning aliens; Frank and the Worms areascharming and funny as the first time around, and are a welcomelaugh. Now, I was definitely disapointed by the plot; it was a carbon copy of thefirst(And I mean it), only with the sideplot of bringing K back(Anotherproblem: K's old character doesn't show up for some time, and it's sorelymissed.). It was really just a vehicle for more special effects(Whichwerefantastic for the most part). Now, don't think I hated the film: Some parts, such as the locker sceneanda celeb who we knew all along was an alien appearing, are downrighthilarious. But they're surprisingly sparse. To sum it up, MIB2 is a dissapointingly average movie that has a bad "beenthere, done that" aftertaste, but I didn't find it to be sheer torturelikethe other reviewers. I say wait for the DVD; just don't have hugeexpectations.
This review is from: Men In Black II (Amazon Instant Video) Not as good as the first one, Laura Flynn makes a good bad girl but the plot's not as good.
I thought this movie sucked. The plot didnt make sense what so ever. Itwas a bit funny, but it just didnt connect. And wow a talking dog howoriginal was that. The only good part was a song. THE WORST MOVIE TOMANKIND...
The original "Men in Black" isn't one of my absolute favorite movies, butit's okay. The best things about it are the sci-fi jokes and the mostinventive looking alien characters since we left the Mos Eisley Cantina. Well, "MIB 2" is one of those sequels that takes what worked in the firstmovie and goes with it. Unfortunately, that means we end up with exactlythe same movie over again. No, really; the EXACT same movie over again. Right down to the plot beingabout an evil alien (who, again, transforms into the first human form itlays eyes -or whatever- on) searching for a glowy thing that the universedepends on.Is it worth watching? Well, kids will still like it, I guess. And peoplewho were waiting on the edge of their seats for the next "Men in Black"movie (as opposed to, say, parts two and three of "the Matrix"). As for therest of us, all we get is a scene with Michael Jackson and some penguinsthat I guess is supposed to be funny but ends up being profoundlyterrifying.
This video is awesome! This may seem boring, but if you want to find out about this, go to the box set, and check out my writings on volume two!
One wonders why execs bother with such perfunctory sequels when they're not even particularly well made. MIB-II offers exactly two chuckles, plus a few pleasantries here and there. Not sure why Tommy Jones was roped in again, he looks about as emotive as his suit. The handful of memorable lines that we do get treated to come from Smith, he singlehandedly carries this 80 minutes ordeal. Which is about 75 minutes too many.
I think the movie is interesting and the topic is attractive andspecial. In this film, I like the character Jay the most because he hasa good sense of humor and he always makes people laugh even though heis in great danger. He is also wise enough to distinguish the aliens inhuman form and communicate with them. Kay is a good and professionalalien-seeking agent, too. He shoots very well and is able to kill theevil monsters. K and J are said to be the heros of the Earth. They getalong very well and no other partners can replace them. There are manyaliens appeared in the "Men in Black" series, almost everyone(even inhuman form) is alien. The images of these aliens are very realistic andlifelike which people love to see. The special effects are reallygripping and exciting. The sound effects are also brilliant enough tograb everybody to the cinema to experience that. I am going to highlypraise the crew, extras, director, camera, lighting and soundoperators' exertion to the film. "Men in Black" is the best movie Ihave ever seemed!
I use to think watching a movie was all about the movie. I guess thingshave changed in the 21st century. I like MIB II as a movie but I can'tbelieve how many companies were shamelessly plugged throughout the film.Did Sonnefeld not see the final cut. Surely Sony made plenty of moneyfromthe first one that there was no need for Sprint, Burger King, Mercedes,RayBan to pitch in right? Maybe it's just me but I can't believe they wouldput so much good (Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Barry Sonnefeld) into a onehour and a half commercial.
This review is from: Men in Black II (+ UltraViolet Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) The sound is loud, the quality is good. What else do you need from the movie! :-) Oh! The price is good too. I am satisfied.
MIB was a great movie that should be a classic! MIIB was just a normal movie! In MIIB they have about every thing that they had in the origianal! Although the effects were great, the movie wasn't as good! Esspecially the (don't read if you haven't seen the movie!) ending! After 1 and a 1/2 hours she dies by being eaten by a bug! (read again!) I still can't for MIIIB but they should work harder on it!
Saying this movie sucked is giving it a good rating. I have never been moredisappointed in a movie, especially one that had such a build up. But Itwasbetter than ALI (which ain't saying much). There was no story just avehicleto show off a new rap song. By the way did I mention that I can't standPUG'S!. Especially ones that sings, "Who let the damn dogs out!"
Let me get this bit out of the way because i'm sure everyone else has saidit " Men in black 2 is not as good as the first film" Ok i feel better forthat. Now let's get down to the reasons. 1.It is to much like the first film.there is nothing to make us sit back andsay wow!2.Some of the affects are appalling.Especially when Will Smith is fightingthe subway worm.3.There does not seem to be the same enthusiasm from Will Smith in this asin the first film. Also he kept going into his Ali accent. Was he making thatfilm at the same time.?The plus points are that the Alien characters are superb especially the dogand that at 80 odd minutes 'it's length is just right. All in all not to bad , but it had a lot to live up to.7 out of 10.
