wast of your time and money

This is the most disgusting movie I have ever seen.Nothing funny and happy ending. This film would be made at small cost and wouldn't be worth watching. She has totally stupid ideas and all she thinks of is just let the guy propose to her forcibly. Totally selfish and ridiculous. The only reason that I picked this one was Bridgette Wilson but this was just tasteless and all wrong.

Love Stinks when it's with a Psycho Bi&*h

Any man who has ever been in a relationship with a psycho girlfriend willlove this movie. One of the things that is funny about this film is thewaythat Seth (French Stewart) gets trapped by Chelsea (Bridgette Wilson).Every step of the way, she dangles her goods in front of him, threatens totake them away, and then he caves in to her demands. She manipulates thisguy like her own personal hand puppet, and he's a big enough sucker to fallfor all of it. I found myself yelling at the screen, "just say no, youspineless idiot!" Stewart pulls off his role perfectly, illustrating howsomany guys are willing to just hand over their freedom of choice in exchangefor a great piece of ass. Seth get's suckered big time, and it's hard tofeel sorry for him because he clearly has no guts whatsoever. He'scompletely spineless.Once she decides that she's not going to get what she wants, Chelseadecidesshe'll get even instead. She suddenly pulls back the mask, not evenpretending to be anything but a selfish, vindictive and manipulative womananymore. Of course, this causes Seth to wake up and smell the coffee, andhe begins an all out war with her, reminiscent of "War of theRoses."Some of the gags they play on each other are "funny" in a slapstick kind ofway. On the flip side, the overall behavior of the main characters isdespicable and loathsome. For those who are easily offended by rude, nasty, dishonest and just plain evil behavior, this movie will be a total downer. If, on the other hand, you can appreciate the irony of the situations, andhow both characters are driving each other mad in a uniquely male/femalewayof relating, then you'll probably appreciate the darkness of the humor. Iknow I did. But then I've had a couple of relationships with psychochicks,so I can appreciate a film about one who gets her justdesserts. In the end, Seth manipulates her into a trap of her own making that is abrilliant flip-side to the first part of the film. In the end, bothcharacters have driven themselves insane. The funny thing is, after asecond viewing of the film, it's easy to see that it is Seth who reallyscrews himself over in the film by making bad choices. Not only that, butChelsea was likewise the one who screwed herself over by making her ownseries of bad choices. These two characters have nobody to blame but theirown stupid selves for their incredibly ironic situation. This film takes the problems of manipulative women and wimpy men to theextreme. What made it funny for me was that it mirrors what is going on inAmerican culture these days...and perhaps that's why some people seem totake it WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. What I mean is that it shows a man that hasbecome so feminized that he has given up all his power to the woman, and awoman who has become so masculinized that she actually enjoys pounding herman into the dirt. If you can't take a joke that hits close to home, thisfilm is not for you.

I'm a non-psycho woman and I laughed hard

I had seen this movie once before and thought it was really funny.Definitely one to see if you like black comedies. I just watched it againwith myboyfriend and we were rolling around from laughter. So just becauseyou'renot a man and not a psycho b**ch from hell doesn't mean you won't laughoutloud. Give this one a try. I also agree with some of the other commentsabout Bridgette Wilson. She's under-appreciated for her comictalents.

What a dang physco

Ok that is the most chaotic physco chick i have ever seen in my entire life. The script was lame and unpolished. I dont like the actors who played any of the cast. I really dont understand what the point of the movie was. They never really developed a story they just showed how the ex girlfriend is dumb and trys to get all hes got because this ugly guy wont marry her. Bad movie not well written, not memorable at all!!!

Laugh your butt off....

This review is from: Love Stinks (DVD) This is such a funny movie. It will make you think love stinks, but it will also make you happy for the person you have in your life. This will also challenge you not to be the desparate woman that needs to do whatever she can to try to get a man to marry her...ha haEnjoy this movie and it is really a great date movie also, but if your date starts to feel uncomfortable it might be a sign.....

Freaking Hilarious!

I'm sorry, but this movie is absolutely hi-freaking-larious! It's trulypolitically incorrect, and the kind of film the dopes in Hollywood areusually afraid to make.I caught this movie accidently, and expected it to suck because all of thereviews were awful. Shows how much they know. Fact of the matter is, if you can get by the nearmisogyny of a man screaming how much he ABSOLUTELY HATES a woman (whodeserves it), this movie is FALL-DOWN-FUNNY.It's directed by Jeff Franklin, who's happens to be the demonic creature whowrought "Full House" for a decade. He apparently had a similarly badrelationship in his past, because the vitriol Stewart's character (a TVwriter, no surprise) spews, sounds authentic, and personal. Perhaps the cheesy pap he knocked out as the Olson Twins' director made himwant to go far in the other direction...I don't know. All I can say is French Stewart, Bill Bellamy, and Brigit Whatsername werehi-freaking-larious in this well-put together comedy. It's a 9.Rent it, you won't regret it.

Awesome movie

This was an awesome movie, my friends and I laughed so hard. They build the movie up so that by the end your expecting the typical romantic-comedy movie ending, but... well, that's just not what you get. Definitely worth seeing!

Excellent Funny Film that doesn't insult your intelligence

I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantlysurprised, and then some. I see a fairly large number of films, and I sawthis film as a preview in Seattle. My wife and I couldn't stop laughing.I'm the kind of person who found "Something about Mary" to be funny but toosilly to recommend because it insulted my intelligence. This movie wasover-the-top funny without being insulting. Every character behaves as anormal person would. The writing was very good, the direction waswell-paced and overall pace was better than you'd expect for this genre. All in all, I'd say that this film was an Excellent film for the genre. Ifyou like funny couples films, GO SEE THIS FILM.

This Movie Stinks!

I had to watch this stupid movie at a sleep over so I thought maybe I was just sleepy and this movie didn't suck. So I torturd myself again and watched it again. I have never had a movie that brought me to such profuse anger because it was so stupid. I can honestly say I hate this movie.

Great Date Flick! Hot to tell if she is psycho!

Hot to tell if your girl friend is psycho. If she fits the mold of Brigette Wilson, run for the hills. This movie was a downright laugh riot. I know a few women that did not find this movie funny. At the same time I noticed that psycho look in their eye. Must have hit a sore spot with them. It was nice to see a refreshing comedy like this concidering all the teenie-bopper love comedies and old-fogie love stories (like Richard Gere). Finally a love story for the people between 19 and 40! The commentary is enjoyable as well with Stewart, Wilson and the Writer/Director, is funny as well. This is not just a comedy, it is a warning sign to men everywhere!

What's Love Got to Do With It

I'm surprised this movie is so obscure and no one's heard of it. I thought it was absolutely hilarious. French Stewart and his psycho girlfriend were fantastic. I never thought French Stewart was that funny but now I have respect for him, he was so good in this. This is a movie you can recommend to friends because chances are, they haven't seen it.

"Love?" This Whole MOVIE "Stinks"

Right out of the chute, I have to tell you-- this is one scary movie. That's right, scary. I mean, to think that there are people running around out there in the world who actually think this kind of inane prattle is "funny" is downright frightening. And if anything about "Love Stinks," directed by Jeff Franklin, reflects real life in even some remote, unimaginable way, then please stop the world, I wanna get off. This is a one note movie about a television sitcom writer named Seth (French Stewart), who gets involved with a woman, Chelsea (Bridgette Wilson), with marriage on her mind and him in her sights. She wants to, he doesn't, and that's about it; one note, and even at that, it's out of tune. Unfortunately, what the makers of this movie would pass off as humor is no laughing matter; it's merely a no-joke display of mean-spiritedness and bad acting that is-- at it's best moments-- infantile, gross and disgusting. Comedy, of course, is the most subjective of genres, and individual tastes and sensibilities will weigh in heavily in regards to how this movie will be received. But to anyone with half a brain and any self-respect whatsoever, being subjected to ninety minutes or so of this would have to be considered nothing less than cruel and unusual punishment. Suffice to say that after this debacle, director Franklin will not be making the Hollywood "A" list anytime soon. Nor the "B," "C," "D" or "F" lists. The good news for him is that whatever project he takes on next couldn't possibly turn out any worse than this, and that means he's only got one way to go from here, and that's up. As far as the performances go, French Stewart-- who obviously went into this with his eyes wide open-- had better hope that "Third Rock From the Sun" lasts, well...forever. Because if this is the best he can manage after the jump-start his career's received from TV, he'd be well advised to take the "Rock" money and run. And Bridgette Wilson? What on earth could've possessed her to take this part? With her talent and looks this is the best she could come up with? It makes you wonder if she even read the script before signing on to this project. I'd like to think she either owed someone a BIG favor, or better yet, was the victim of a plot by a bitter and disgruntled manager or agent to malign her for personal, as yet undisclosed, reasons. The bottom line is, Stewart and Wilson both have a lot to offer; it just seems so sad to see them wasted in something as unworthy as this ridiculous, offensive movie that isn't worth the film that retains it's untoward images. The supporting cast includes Bill Bellamy as Larry, Tyra Banks as Holly (proving here that beauty does not necessarily equate with acting ability), Steve Hytner as Marty, Jason Bateman (in a horrendous performance) as Jesse, and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen as Rebecca. A supercilious effort that has to resort to bathroom humor, cat cruelty and an Elvis impersonator in it's feeble attempt at getting a laugh-- which it doesn't (and note that even the word "humor" is used loosely within the context of this sentence)-- "Love Stinks" is a movie to be avoided at all costs. If someone perchance suggests to you that this one is entertaining and good for some laughs, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Or at least for the nearest exit. Immediately. And don't look back...

Painfully Funny

This review is from: Love Stinks (DVD) The almost uniformly bad reviews of this movie by professional critics contrast sharply with mostly favorable reviews by customers. One wonders if some of the professional reviews were disingenuous, because a public thumbs up to Love Stinks might have required some explaining at home. The film is rude, abrasive, un-PC, and very funny. It is the nature of modern romance that nearly every one of us has been involved with at least one psycho. The world is full of them and they come in both sexes: stalkers, vengeance-seekers, clingers, users, manipulators, and abusers of all types. They often are seductive (which is how they rope you in) and the final break-ups with them can be horrendous. The psycho in this case is a woman, so no doubt it is easier for men to relate to and laugh at this movie, though the gender response, judging by other reviews, obviously is far from uniform either way. There is a lot of pain and cruelty in this film, but pain and cruelty, handled properly, are the meat of all humor. This is not as nasty as it sounds; humor is the way we best deal with such things. Love Stinks provides plenty of protein.

Special-K88 2012-04-19 10:41:47

it sure does

The writer of a popular television show forms a relationship with abeautiful women (Wilson), never suspecting that she's a cruel,marriage-obsessed sociopath who'll do anything she can to make his lifea living hell until he agrees to tie the knot. He's determined to fightback however, and for the remainder of the film viewers watch as thetwo lead characters pull every mean, vicious prank in the book.Annoyingly one-note, mean-spirited "comedy" plays out like a painfullyunfunny television sitcom that should have been scrapped right off thebat. Not a single character to care about in this disheartening film, and will only entertain viewers who enjoy cold-hearted comedy andexcessive profanity. *

Im still laughing about this one!

When I rented this movie, I didn't expect too much. I was very surprized by the end result. This movie starts off a little slow, but by mid movie the antics between French Stewart and Bridgette Wilson will have you laughing your butt off. Overall, this movie is very funny, I haven't laughed this hard in a while. I can't wait to add it to my collection! Buy this!
