Follow the epic twists and turns of LOST as it is time for our characters to finally learn their ultimate destiny in LOST, The Final Season.
Movie Photos:
We have taken some photos of "Lost - Season Six". They represent actual movie quality.
Season 1: After the shocking and brilliantly directed pilot, the firstseason drops in pace and we start to examine the survivors of flight815, who stranded on a mysterious Island. Turns out that the key ofthis show isn't this intriguing Island, but the greatly writtencharacters, who are all portrayed very well by the cast. Everycharacter has an interesting piece of back-story and they all dealdifferently with the mysterious Island they crashed on. The mostinteresting of them is John Locke, who believes it isn't coincidencethey are on this magic place. "We're here for a reason". I still hearhim say it. The finale of the first season is one that is full ofsuspense and mystery. Season 2: I have to admit that the second season is one of the lesserseasons of Lost. We now know the characters and we've got plenty ofteases of the immense mythology of the Island in season one. Though theseason still progresses with the same pace as season one and because webarely learn more about the Others and the Dharma Initiative it becomesless interesting. Also because this one has many filler-episodes.Though it's still very thrilling and entertaining and one of the bestcharacters of the show is introduced very cool: I'm talking of BenjaminLinus, of course. Also Desmond is introduced, another very likablecharacter. What I also like about this season is the debate betweenLocke and Jack, the Man of Science and the Man of Faith. So all in allit's still plenty of fun. Season 3: In my opinion this is probably the best season of Lost. Wefinally learn more about the Others and about the Dharma Initiative, wefinally get some long awaited answers and, of course, some newintriguing mysteries. I actually like the storyline of Jack, Kate andSawyer captured by the Others very much. Also, Juliet and Richard areintroduced, both very interesting characters. But, besides FlashesBefore Your Eyes (a great and magical Desmond-episode), it are the lastfive episodes which make this the best season. It starts with The ManBehind The Curtain, the mystical Jacob is introduced and we finallylearn the tragic back-story of Ben. Then we get The Brig, in whichSawyer confronts Anthony Cooper. This episode is followed by theintensely emotional Greatest Hits. And finally we get the two parterfinale, two incredibly cool episodes. And if your mind still isn'tcompletely blown by then, you definitely will get a heart-attack at theplot-twist in the end... Season 4: Second-best season for me. This season is a lot shorter andleaner, which means: no filler-episodes, a fast pace and astraight-forward storyline. Which actually is great! The flash-forwardsreally are refreshing and interesting to watch. Then there can be foundsome of the most outstanding episodes of Lost. It starts with TheConstant, another cool and, mostly, emotional episode centered aroundDesmond (a bit like Flashes Before Your Eyes). Later in the season weget The Shape of Things To Come. I'll never forget Ben's shocked facewhen his daughter is killed in front of his eyes. Great television. Finally we get the three-parter (!) finale: good action, fast-paced,thrilling, good performances, great cliffhangers (Locke: 'You justkilled all those people on that boat!' Ben: 'So?' BOOM... LOST)and thewriters made the present time-line and the flash-forwards fitperfectly. Season 5: Worst season of Lost, in my opinion. But... still great! Itremains entertaining and thrilling, but it's a bit messy. Then we arein 1954, then we are in 2004, then we are in 2007, then we are in 1974,then we're back in 2007, then we suddenly are in 1977 and so on. Also,I had to admit that I wasn't that impressed with the finale (though theintroduction of Jacob and the Man in Black was cool and the twist withLocke was a surprising one). So, all in all, very entertaining andthrilling, but a bit messy and I just wasn't that impressed with thisseason as I was with the others. Season 6: Unlike some people I thought the Final Season was asatisfying one. Really, I loved the "faith"-storyline (Season 4 and 5were more science seasons), I loved the fact that the writers weregoing back to the feel of the first season a bit (to really give it acomplete feel, to make the circle round, we say in Holland) and I lovedhow Locke was a villain now (O'Quinn really made a compelling one). Myonly point of critique is that the season starts a bit slow. After agreat season premiere, it's a little slow from What Kate Does until ThePackage (exceptions: Sundown and Ab Aeterno). Then, from Happily EverAfter we finally delve more into the mystery of the Flash-Sideways andon the Island the war between the survivors and the Man in Blackfinally starts to shape up. Then we really get that feeling of: the endis coming... And it comes. After Locke kills off three Candidates inThe Candidate he becomes even a more threatening villain. And then werace towards The End: an incredibly entertaining and really emotionalgoodbye of Lost, it really impressed me. And of course, I want more answers! But I also accept and respect thechoice of the creators that the Island remains a mystery, that itremains this mythical place; this mystery box. Also this made Lost agreat reflection of life, because in life you also don't get an answeron every question.Bottom Line: Lost is a gripping, emotional, thrilling and veryentertaining show. There are few bumps on the road, but they areovercome by great acting, magical music and the characters you willgrow in love with. The end of Lost is, in my opinion, very satisfying.
When you trying to understand what's going on then you understood it,don't get so happy because you're (LOST)! Lost, the greatest TV show Iever seen, before I decided to start watching this TV show I was makingjokes at my brother and keep telling him (LOST) is crap!! My brothertold me you better start to see the crap that you talking about maybeyou'll change your mind! I saw (LOST) the first season, then the secondseason, then I started to like it and decided to watch the third seasonand finally the 4th season, I realized that I was so wrong about what Isaid before.Lost, the best ever and we love you all (Lost) casts and actors you allare the best.At last, Get LOST!
Lost, first seemingly a good idea, became boring in designing countlessstory lines leading into nothing - though I kept on watching ...Flasbacks, first seemingly a good idea, became quite problematic withmaking the audience to discover, nearly each survivor of the planecrash seems to be a criminal, murderer or at least antisocialpersonality - though I kept on watching ... The bunker, first seemingly a good idea, introduced in season 2, leadinto a new storyline creating a new "enterntaining" element ofintroducing Abu Ghraib into a TV show with unremittingly keeping ontorturing a defenseless victim in a cold dark cell inside the bunker. Not enough, nearly anybody joining by gets the chance of having somefun with torturing the cuffed victim, sometimes astonishing incidental. With calling him one of "The Others", a category of subhuman being iscreated allowing to do anything, including brutal beating, torturingand even shooting at a defenseless human without being harassed throughguilt, rules, law - or simply a little bit of humanity. Thejustifications of this practice are leading us back into the darkestmoments of human history, even those which took place 60 years ago, butwith one big difference: it has been placed into a closing time TV showas an entertainment element, and the delinquents are the heroes of theshow. This is not boring or problematic any more, it is disgusting, trivializing, playing down one of the biggest disgraces of the humanrace ... inexcusable ! According to this, I do not keep on watching ...I can't saddle the guilt on myself of watching that sort of inhumancrap caused by creators / writers who - hopefully - aren't aware ofwhat they are doing ...
Lost is truly one of the finest ever series made, when I had watched itall the characters the story were so influential that I felt like I wasliving it the whole thing is happening to my people.Simply amazing ,absolutely class apart acting, direction and the bested story lineEvery single care has been taken in making this series a world classwhether it be technical side, choice of location, or casting, everyminute details have been really looked after nicely This show is notjust a TV series it tells us about living, about relationships aboutCourage about Belief about live in true manner and above all it tellsabout bonding which is truly eternalWill definitely recommend this series to everyone, truly a must watch Iwill really miss all of you. Threeee Cheers for the Entire Team
All of the actors do not hold the same quality. Some characters aremuch richer than others.Lost become overly emotional with all the flashbacks the charactershave. It's simply unlikely that some ordinary folks on a plane havegone through such extraordinary events. At least three are formercriminals or thugs, in one way or another. The moral is like we aredeep down all the same. The series is more about making you scared of the unexpected, ratherthan being an adventure. I did not find it exciting. The good momentsdo not reach higher than being simple horror. The mystery part mayexcite some, although I was more irritated than enthralled by themonster mystery. The story is outrageous from a realistic point ofview, as some others have already observed for themselves. The way itwas filmed look rather amateurish (the "confused" camera). It may have a purpose being a strange sort of drama, but not adventure. To have a Sayid and calling him Iraqi, is I'm afraid, more political(with his hometown being Tikrit, conveniently the same as SaddanmHussein, and the story that Sayid was part of the Republican Guards andthat he used torture against enemies) than anything else, although I'maware that many are not only ignorant of that, but also that Iraqistend to not look like Naveen Andrews. Any Brit, and even most Europeans, could easily see that man is ofIndian or Pakistani descent. He has Indo-Melanid physicalcharacteristics. Iraqis, especially from Tikrit, where he is supposedto come from, are in fact not darker than the average Greek or SouthernItalian. They are fairer, and sometimes blondish, particularly theKurds. The central-northern Iraqis are fully Europid (=AmericanCaucasian/Caucasoid), and are more like Matthew Fox or EvangelineLilly. It's to someone who is aware of anthropological realities, asridiculous to cast a Cretan as a typical Scandinavian Viking. Thatcasting had obviously a purpose, even a political message to theviewers. That is propaganda, and it is very clear to me.It was a disappointment. I have certainly lost, some of my precioustime.I still think that Matthew Fox is a charming actor.
When I first heard of "Lost", I thought to myself that this was goingto be a pathetic version of "Giligan's Island" meets "Cast Away". I waswrong. This show surprised me with its amazing story line that neverlets up on suspense, its brilliantly designed sets, and the geniusactors and actresses chosen to play each character. The writers made awise decision by adding diversity to the cultures and ethnicbackgrounds of each character instead of making it an entire Americancast. This show is brilliantly designed and brilliantly planned out. Itis easily yet oddly believable as we watch some of the most surprisingtwists take place on the Island. Not once do we question the storylineor the actions of a character, because as we watch the show, more andmore we begin to understand the true reasons behind each action. Andthough the story is extremely suspenseful, it is easily able to slip inpieces of comedy to make the show easier to handle. With out these wiseadditions the show would be almost to intense to bear. Now without anyfurther ado, this show is perhaps one of the best shows that I haveseen. It has definitely left a mark on my memory, and I hope that itwill leave one on yours!
Lost is one of the Best shows out there and its one of my favoriteshows.Lost is a story about how people are Lost on an island (ofcourse) case in point why its called Lost, but its also called Lostbecause the show also and mainly focuses on the people, the survivorsof the plane crash And they are each Lost in their own way. thecharacters are finding a new life on this island, and thats really whatthe show is about people... Each episode focuses on one particularSurvivor (different every time) and shows you what they have beenthrough... Lost is a show about people and if there is anothermasterpiece that remotely came close to the type of show Lost is, thenit better be a hell of a show.
It's not well shot, well written or well acted but it has to be themost addictive show I've seen since Twin Peaks. Every single revelationis timed so well that you have to see the next episode to get any kindof closure. They have even slowed down the pace of the show where theyonly reveal tiny amounts of information per episode however it feelslike they've just told you everything you wanted to know. However someof the acting is just about awful and some of the duologue is downrightbrutal. Some characters are very two dimensional. The more experiencedactors like Locke and Ecko really stand out over actors who play Jack,Kate, Sayid and so on. The development of the show can also be veryfrustrating as the following episode may not show what the previousepisode lead up to. Annoying side plots have become part of the storythat sometimes tell you nothing. However, the second season hasdeveloped to a point where back stories reveal more about the islandthan they had previously. All in all its a great show but not perfect.
I've been around since the inception of broadcast television andconsider "Lost" to be the best written and produced show ever devised. That said,I have only one point of contention. Where is the realseason-6. What we were served up as season-6 was actually season-7.We're missing the real season-6 that bridges the gap between whathappened in season-5 and what took place in the final season. Yes,theshow was character driven. However, the main attraction of the show wereit's revolving mysteries. After season-5,all of the mysteries weredropped. As to why,is the biggest mystery of all. Those unresolvedmysteries, too numerous to mention, confounded and wrangled viewers to noend. While I thought that the show's finale episode was great and leftviewers satisfied,no matter which character or characters were yourfavorites,I also felt that the entire final season was very rushed. Ihave a theory on this. I suspect that the network could no longerabsorb the high production costs of a show of this type, and said "We'llgive you one more season. Wrap it up". And so,that's what they did. Asfor the consequences of the network not producing the real season-6 forit's viewers? Well,Clint Eastwood had an appropriate word for it in hismovie "Heartbreak Ridge".
I think I can safely say that without a doubt "Lost" is one of thegreatest, most well done, and well written show ever made. Hands down. And for those of you who haven't been completely transfixed by it yetyou have got to go out and rent or buy the first season then jump intoseason two on ABC now. Here is what I think is so great about thisgroundbreaking show:- The Characters: Every episode features flashback stories from one ofthe 17 main castaways as well as what currently is happening on theisland, usually featuring that character. Doing the show this wayallows the audience to learn about every flaw and characteristic ofeach castaway. And the acting by every single one of them is Emmyworthy. They are superb, especially Dominic Monaghan as a has-been,drug addicted, rocker, Charlie Pace, Matthew Fox as Jack Sheppard, adoctor who has taken command of the frightened others, Evangeline Lillyas Kate Austin, a criminal running from the law, Josh Holloway as JamesFord a.k.a. Sawyer, a con-artist and bad boy on the island, and theGolden Globe nominees Naveen Andrews as an Iraqi soldier and TerryO'Quinn as the "second in command" on the island. The ensemble cast isone of the many great aspects of "Lost".-The Mystery: There are so many mysteries on the island, and theproducers are slowly revealing the answers. Notice, I said slowly. Someof the many mysteries and unanswered questions are: Why did a planefull of troubled people mysteriously crash on an island? Why can acrippled man suddenly walk? What is that monster who rips up trees andlooks like smoke? Who are the "Others" and why are they chasing thesurvivors? And what the heck do those darn numbers mean- 4, 8, 15, 16,23, 42? There are those and many more mysteries that we earnestly waitto be answered.-Everything Else: Yes, everything, from cinematography, to thebeautiful music, script writing, and special effects are all good. Itis filmed on Oahu, Hawaii so the scenery is to die for.For those who don't know, the plot is simply this: 48 people crash onan island hundreds of miles off course from their original destination.Short, huh? But that's all I can explain. If I were to tell youeverything about the show, each character's story, and all the weirdthings that have happened, I'd be writing this all month. My one andonly complaint isn't even about the show, itself. It's about ABC'sschedule. "Lost" is only allowed twenty-four episodes a season whichmeans lots of weeks of repeats in between each new episode. And becauseeach episode intrigues, scares, opens new questions, and leaves youwanting more, it can drive you insane waiting. Also, with a show likethis, you're never quite sure when they'll kill off one of yourfavorite characters. Already two main characters have kicked thebucket, and many minor characters.People who want to jump in will have an easy time catching up. All youhave to do is rent the first season, or even buy every episode evermade on iTunes so you can properly catch up. I have to say though, Iwas little worried that season two wouldn't match up to the amazingseason one, but it did, and then some. In writing this column on "Lost"I am hoping that some of you will begin to enjoy this show as much asI. Believe me, this show is worth every minute you spend watching it."Lost" rocks! If I could rate this show, I'd give it 100 out of 10.Caution: I should warn you, though, there are some violent and, not tomention scary, episodes."Lost" is on Wednesday's at 9:00 pm on ABC. And yes, you might have tomiss "American Idol".
I began watching Lost in 2005 and kept up with it through downloads andthe ABC site. The series crested in the third and fourth seasons. Thelate series had some questionable choices by the production staff. These convolutions led me to doubt the direction of the series. But I kept with it through season 5 and 6 and then through the finale. And I must say, I'm very glad I did.If you've seen part of the series and are worried that it has lost itsdirection, fear not. You have a job to do.You were chosen, as one of those who has connected with the inhabitantsof The Island. You must finish this story. For it will be one of thebest decisions you have made regarding the holiness of a good tale. TheIsland is not done with you yet. And by The End (season 6, episode16/17), you will see the importance of what you have witnessed. That is all I can say. I'm not supposed to reveal the outcome. But restassured, that it will all come together in The End.As a wise man once said, I wish you would believe in me.Namaste.
When I first heard about Lost I was excited, who wouldn't be? Aninteresting premise and the potential to be truly amazing. I remembersitting down and watching the premiere episodes, to say the least I wasimpressed. It had its hook that would reel me in: "Guys Where are we?"It was with this line that I said "Hell YEAH! This will be awesome." Ispoke too soon. Well, its clear Lost is popular, very popular, andstrangely enough critically acclaimed. For a show that prides itself oncharacter development and sustaining an interesting and involvingmystery it fails in almost every regard. The first season moves alongat a staggeringly slow pace, the writers reveal little tidbits ofinformation, leaving the viewer wanting more. It works to a degreebecause it whets the viewers appetite for a good mystery but theprimary problem is, it becomes progressively obvious the writers havebarely any idea as to where the story is headed, highlighted by theseason 1 cliffhanger, and just about every other "cliffhanger" the showhas ever produced. They simply make it up as they go along and even forregular viewers it progressively becomes glaringly obvious. The flashbacks were a good idea in theory but so far they have failedin developing, fleshing out or even progressing the charactersmotivations and arcs. It's disappointing because I think they are anaccessible and simple idea of doing this, but alas it all comes down towriting and so far only about four of the episodes with flashbacks wereactually interesting and kept me enthralled. They at times add depth tothe island story and provide insight into the characters before theisland, but are they really needed? Why cant we simply get to know thecharacters as they are, instead of as they were? Especially when theflashbacks are so terribly written, enough so, that when I hear thelittle sound that comes with the opening of a flashback I instantlytune out. I've spent two seasons of this mediocre show, tuning outduring a flashback, I believe it has become second nature, almost asubconscious message that "you are going to bored just tune out now soyou don't have to sit through the painfully bad dialogue and inanelystupid side stories".The huge cast is a major flaw in the shows structure. There is so manyproblems with an ensemble this large and it's honestly annoying. Theyadded another three people into the cast in the second season and evenmore in the third season....it's just too many people. I still don'tunderstand why they can't just focus on a smaller group of people, flesh out those characters instead of adding new ones for the noveltyof it. I realize new characters are introduced to serve the plot (see:plot devices) but when the current characters aren't fleshed out ordeveloped as well as they should be, you don't just introduce newcharacters to keep people interested, instead you develop thecharacters you have, by making them fully 3 dimensional. I haven't seenthat happen yet, instead the writers have decided that the flashbacksare a cheap way of quickly developing them as much as they can...Thatis lazy. To add to this the characters are very boring and mostlyuninteresting, there are a couple of exceptions but they're continuallypushed to the side so we can all enjoy another ego trip by the "amazingdoctor who can do no wrong and just wishes his daddy would love him,"Jack or as i like to call him "SHUT UP". The show continues to pileunsatisfying faux-answers on top of annoying characters that don'tdevelop so much as stagnate, I find it hard to believe that there arepeople that actually believe there is an ounce of true characterdevelopment in this show. They're only interested in giving usflashbacks that tell us nothing, giving us answers that don't answeranything, showing us unlikable, humorless, and uninteresting people, and that are just overwhelming boring in general. Wow, I haven't evengotten to the anvils yet. Lost heavily utilizes biblical allusions andsymbolism. This can be a good thing if it's subtly done but Losthammers the message of the episode into your brain with a 47kg jackhammer and then it's pretentious enough to believe that it'sintelligent. Or should I say the writers are? They'll even patthemselves on the back continually flaunting their "intelligence" likethey are the smartest people in the world. Demon (Damon) and Curse(Cuse), some people just aren't buying it. I've completely lost interest in Lost. The conflicts are oftencontrived, the characters are not believable, there are no issues beingtackled in an intelligent way, and the plot is made up as they goalong. I could fast forward through most of an episode without missinganything. I think people just don't get what an intelligently written, character driven show is, I can tell you one thing, Lost isn't. Its allin the hype and maybe, just maybe if Lost wasn't hyped as the "bestshow EVER!!!11" or "A character driven masterpiece" by critics andviewers alike, then maybe, just maybe i wouldn't be as bitter as i am.But I am bitter, very bitter. If you believe Lost is anything more than a dumb entertaining show, with an inconsequential, made-up-as-they-go-along mystery andcharacters that aren't really characters, then; You've been fooled.I'll say this much: Lost is the best one-hour drama, set on an island, featuring flashbacks, with a sinister undertone of mystery andsoap-opera like character developments ever to air on television.
By now i think most people would agree that LOST is the best TV showaround. The pilot is captivating as it is entertaining, and the rest ofthe episodes just keeps getting better. I have never seen suchcharacter build ups that is so deeply explored either in their past orpresent. The cast of the show are actors and actresses that fits perfectly withtheir role and that makes it so lovable about all the characters. Whenanyone watch this show, they will come to know that all the charactersare a unique and a clever mix of interesting types of people. We wontget bored with one character, instead we will be entertained with 14 ofthe main characters. We'll love them, hate them, care for them. Thepresence of empathy is so strong that you'll keep guessing what willhappen next to the characters. The Island itself is full of mystery, and the state of being of the characters are always in question.I would strongly suggest that whoever you are and whatever you are, youhave to watch this show. And please watch the pilot episode before youwatch any other episode. Do not try to watch other episodes before youwatch the pilot, it is cursed!! like the numbers!! really!! honestly!!If anyone fails to see this show as exciting as i did, well do notdespair, cause you'll definitely LOVE all the beautiful women in theshow. Trust me. So..... get LOST !!!
Let me say first that I watched Lost beginning to end, every singleepisode. Somehow every episode had its own mystery, a mystery thatwould later be solved. Even the very last left us wondering. At times it seemed as if the producers were making it up as they wentalong. Even if they did, it still turned out to be one of the bestproduced, directed, and acted series ever. The pilot was absolutelybrilliant, I think it was the main reason everybody got so gripped toit. There could not have been a better cast, it is as if the cast memberswere born to play there roles. The Good vs. Evil plot was a little odd,and became a little confusing toward the end which is why it did notreceive a perfect score. Some questions were left unanswered, kind of like a cliff-hanger whichleft me searching for answers at times.Overall a Great series though and a must watch!
when i first watched this show i just hoped to god that they don't endup canceling it like they did with family guy for a while. Lost is oneof the smartest shows on TV and after six year run on TV the show wasbetter then shows such as ugly Betty or prison break. it keeps you onthe edge of your seat week after week. the cliffhangers at the end ofeach season are really smart. hats off to the cast and the crew of theshow. the night they aired the series finale in Australia it was showedover two channels at different time and the ending was so amazing andbeautifully done that i had to watch i again.i cannot wait until thebox set come out on DVD. hate to see it go good but all good thing mustend. perfect 10/10 xx
Best TV series ever!! Can't wait for the next episode!! I love Sawyer,he is the best character... he is funny, he is mean (sometimes), he ishandsome and he is sarcastic! Really great! The mystery keeps theseries alive and people always want to know what will happen next andwhat are the meaning of every details in the show! I always want knowwhy something happened, what is the connection with the people witchwas in the plane and how their lives are connect too!! And I also lovethe twisted parts that happened in the show. Whoo!! Sometime I cannotbelieve! It will be always a interesting show 'cause make you wonderingabout the show after a episode is finished! Really cool!!
'LOST'It was promoted as JJ Abrams's new show: 'FROM THE CREATOR OF ALIAS'flashed in every trailer, meaning it has to be great. Alias is anemotional and character based drama disguised as a slick, darklyhumored, kick-ass, spy thriller. Alias is genius; JJ Abrams is agenius.Apparently, all geniuses lose their marbles along the way-- case inpoint: Lost (Wednesdays 9/8c, ABC). I feel robbed, disappointed, angry. This crap caused the horrors of Alias season three? This is all JJAbrams has to offer? No, if someone works at certain level of quality,it is accustom to expect that level consistently!Lost starts off with an intense close up on the hero's eye (a MatthewFox, looking like Greg Grunberg's twin). It zooms up and we see him, lying on his back, wounded and confused. He struggles to get up. He'sin a jungle: tall grass, bamboo, blue skies. In the distance there'sscreaming; he starts running (and running and running for too long)until he hit's the beach. It's clean, beautiful; nothing looksabnormal. Unlike Abrams pans the camera over to reveal an epic planecrash. This for the most part is all good. The camera runs around, moreconfused than The Hero and gives you a headache it as it attempts tocapture the reactions of forty-eight survivors. African drums gets yourheart pacing as The Hero attempts to help the Pregnant Woman, who'shaving contracts and The Wounded Man stuck under the wreckage. Abramseven gives you an explosion as someone gets sucks into the propellers. The technique is far superior to the material, along with the set. Thewreckage is gorgeous, real, and highly effective.Lost is frankly it puts you to sleep. The characters are formulaic andone-dimensional. With the forty-eight survivors, there's plenty of roomfor character development and romance (I mean, they are on an island, what else are they going to do?) -- but from the pilot I didn't see anyinteresting enough to want to see developed. Jack (is his last nameBristow?), The Hero, bores me; his probable love interest, Kate(Evangeline Lilly), annoys me more. The only three characters I liked barely showed up:Number One: Terry O'Quinn -- the master himself -- lucks out anddoesn't have any speaking line, rather long shot of him taking in therain and sucking on oranges; his character is quirky (and perhapsmentally retard, perhaps). Number Two: The Pilot, Greg Grunberg. Greg Grunberg and JJ Abrams havebeen friends since kindergarten, and Grunberg has appeared in everyAbrams production since. This time, he plays the pilot that tragicallydies (but not before revealing the big hitch). I want to weep when ThePilot died -- no because I felt anything for the character, but becauseGreg Grunberg just got killed off and he and O'Quinn were the only onesworth watching. Furthermore, congratulations to Greg Grunberg forupstaging the lead actor in presence and talent.Number Three: The Dog. It appears as if the whole mastermind behind thestrange happenings on the island is a dog. A yellow lab, who lookedpossessed and I wouldn't doubt if he would eat you alive. You know youhave a hit show, when the most interesting aspect is the dog.The big problem: I don't care about the character. I don't care if theyget off the island. I don't care if they die. I don't care if they fallin love. And coming from JJ Abrams, this is the greatest disappointmentsince all of his work so character based. More importantly, thedialogue is painful. 'Oh, you gotta be kidding me!' Yup, I was thinkingthe same thing! 'Terrific!' Nope, not exactly. 'You okay?' Jack asksthe Pregnant Woman after he throws her on the ground, after surviving aplane crash? It's stupid, cliché, and not worthy. The show is not without talent; JJ Abrams knows how direct, but he wasjust directing really bad material. Moreover, the shear size andproduction cost of the show seem enormous. Unless LOST becomes the nextFriends, I don't see how they could maintain their budget. And if theshow has to move to soundstages, it would become laughable. I don't seeit surviving more than a season.*1/2 / ****
There is no denying that "Lost" is the best new drama of the season. Ithas already been nominated as Best Drama Series for the Golden Globesand it's headed for great things. Creator and Director JJ Abrams bringshis amazing talents into this show to help make it the great successthat it is. Along with "Desparate Housewives," "Lost" has helped ABC inits comeback for the 2004-2005 season. I have no idea what the previousreview was talking about -- this series will not "tank" after a year. And it is like nothing that has been before. Sure there aresimilarities in plot but there is SO much more to talk about in "Lost."And I am confident in the great writers that they have on the series aswell to create new, exciting, energetic, and interesting plot lines foreach episode.
Us poor old folk here in the UK are only half way through the firstseason, however some of us have got hold of the Complete Season ofSeason One thats out in the states on DVD.What I need to know is... (a) Is season two as good as season one? (b)What have the reviews been like? (c) where can I get hold of seasontwo? (d) Can I download it anywhere?I reckon it could be up to a year before Season Two is broadcast overhere, by which time Season Three (if there is a Season Three) will bewell underway in the U.S.Can anyone help me out?
WOW! Let me lay it straight, the only people who say that they reallylike this show don't really understand it but don't want to feel like afool in front of their friends. If you add up the backgrounds of the characters with all the ridiculousflashbacks, none of them will make any sense. Basically all of them area bunch of screw ups who did something to redeem themselves with theirsad screwed up lives. I doubt even the writers know what the hell isgoing on.Which brings me to the storyline, where if you took a life detectortest, everyone who said they understood it who be confirmed liarsbecause the writers themselves can't decide whether to make the plot ahorror one with ghosts or something with a lot of suspense and in theend come up with something that is hopelessly in between( in otherwords, absolute crap). In the first season the bald guy miraculouslygets his legs back and in one of the latter shows is chased by someblack smoke. The Island is filled with everything from guns to foodsupplies left there by some strange "force" in the form of shipwrecks, plane crashes and what not. Oh, and you also have a bunch of people whoare living on the Island, many with not so good intentions likekidnapping boys and other ridiculous activities. The people seem tohave been summoned on the Island by a mysterious force not to mention agroup of people from the DHARMA something, who believe that a certainsomething has to be done to prevent the destruction of the world. The critics who praised this show are easily impressed by what theydon't understand. If you enjoy this show, that is okay with me( notthat you really have to care) but please don't go around acting likethis show is a work of art.
