We have taken some photos of "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde". They represent actual movie quality.
(slight spoilers ahead)Legally Blonde 2 shows that the script writers subscribe to the saying"if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Many of the plot points and clichésthat made the original great are recycled and cut to fit the plot.Unfortunately, this tends to inspire a feeling of deja vu. Lazywriters.Elle really seemed to have it too easy, as some of the important peopleshe needed to get on her side "coincidentally" (read: CONVENIENTLY) hadsome sort of sympathizing link to her (Libby Hauser and her sororityroots, Stanford Marks and his dog). Highly unrealistic. The movie's few true saving graces: the initial gay dog scenes (it gotridiculous near the end), Sally Field's exasperated facial expressions(also exhibited in Mrs. Doubtfire...though I must beg Ms. Field toNEVER dye her hair blonde again), the ever-cute Luke Wilson, and BOBNEWHART (the guy with all the connections...Bob rocks!). The "milliondog march" is also pretty amusing. My opinion? Meh. It's pretty good. The original's better. (note tomovie company: please hire new writers before a third movie is evenconsidered...recycling clichés/plot points, even if they were goodclichés and plot points, isn't a good thing)
I couldn't even finish this movie. Just too stupid. I couldn't imagine anyone giving this a good rating until I saw the one signed "PETA". I guess PETA members could like it but for the rest of us, don't waste your money.
I'd like to begin by saying that I've seen my share of sequels and 90%are seriously flops, but I don't feel that is entirely the case withthis movie.I laughed more with Legally Blonde 2 than I did with the original. Italso keeps its "feel good" quality. Elle wants to do something, shebelieves in herself, and despite everyone else thinking she can't do itand getting stabbed in the back, she comes out strong in the end. Andshe overcomes her downfalls with a bounce and perky attitude that isfunny all on its own. In my own opinion, Legally Blonde 2 was BETTER than the first. True, attimes the plot is ridiculous, but it's in a comical way. If you want tosee the first again, then by all means do, but a sequel is not meant tobe compared to its predecessor. They are meant to function as 2separate movies that have 2 separate plots. The only time this is notthe case is with movies like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter whichare based on books and have plots that tie all the sequels together. Soif you watch Legally Blonde 2 expecting to see the original, thenyou're going to be extremely disappointed. However, if you can approachit with a carefree and nonjudgmental attitude, then you might actuallyenjoy it. I know I did.
Hello,My friend and I could not stop looking at each other in horror anddisbeliefat this debautchery of corporate cinema last night. This movie is a pieceof crap that makes me feel stupid for having been sentimental enough aboutthe original to pay $9 for it. It forces the charming subtleties of theoriginal to become gross caricatures aimed at the very lowest commondenominator. Elle Woods is still innocent and optimistic, but now sheseemsinsane in her ignorance of even basic social cues. She really does.Paulette Bonafonte was reduced to a retarded one-liner eating machine, andElle's sorority sisters made me wonder if I was totally on drugs, or iftheywere instructed act like they were. I usually like Luke Wilson, but hewaslike a wet blanket the whole movie. This movie is targeted at stupidpeople.I think the worst part about this movie was that each and every plotmotivation and its corresponding development was identical to theoriginal.Girl has well-meaning reason to take action-girl naively takes action-girlgets discouraged by naysayers and wins them over with pure goodness-girldiscovers blonde power-girl uses beauty care arguements to win over thecrowd, girl gets engaged/married...This worked well for the first movie, butas you can see, having the exact same plot and pacing is really lazy andmakes it so clear that movie-going audiences will pay for familiarity evenif what was comforting has become menacingly bad. I am not angry atmoviemakers for following the calculated sequel formula, I am mad atAmericans for putting up with it, and laughing out loud even. Maybe Ishould take this injustice to the white house!
This film was totally rushed for the fourth of July weekend. My friend counted six times that the microphone boom came intoshot. The storyline was just stupid. By the end of the film the Elle Woodscharacter was grating on my nerves. Most of the actors were under-utilized. A bright spot in the film wasRegina King. Although she was in bad lighting and wore darkclothing, she was the only believable person in the wholefilm.By far the worst film I had seen this year.
I LOVED the first Legally Blonde movie. While it wasn't realistic, it was fun and a real joy to watch. I figured the second one would be decent too, but I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I think Reese Witherspoon is fantastic and she did a great job - I just thought the storyline was a little overboard. Personally, I wish the story had focused less on the dog, because while seeing the dog dressed up in pink is funny, it gets old when they try to plot the entire movie around it! Even so, the movie had some really funny parts (though I wish there had been more Luke Wilson!) and was worth seeing at least once. :)
To go into why this was one of the worst movies I've ever seen would exceedthe maximum of 1,000 words so I'll sum it up in one sentence:A baboon would have its intelligence insulted by this "film" and anyone whoactually enjoyed it should be committed instantly.--Shelly
I loved the first Legally Blonde. It was one of those charming, innocent teen movies. The acting in it was flawless and the jokescreative. But this one was trying to re-use the first, and failed miserably. Theacting LB2 was very good, but the plot was complete nonsense and thejokes recycled, making them not very funny anymore really. Especiallywhen used badly.I was also annoyed at LB2's Elle Woods.. in the first, she was a greatcharacter because at first she was a naive, dumb blonde who lived up toher stereotype. But she overcame the odds, realised her potential andproved to the world that she was an intelligent, interesting, maturewoman. However, when I saw her character in this sequel, she went rightback to stupid again! I didn't understand why at all.The animal testing case annoyed me as well. The murder trial Elle hadto sort in the first was good because it was a serious case, which wasfunny to contrast with her bubbly, girlie personality. It was alsofunny when she won that case with the rule about the perm. But theanimal testing thing was so typical of a girl like her when she was atthe start of the first to try and change. She had changed at the end ofthe first movie though, so why go back to who she was? Some of theother characters were a bit pointless as well. Emmett was there, buthis role was pretty small and meaningless. Paulette's character wasn'tas good as it was in the first movie.I just felt this movie had no point to it. The first had alreadycovered everything, and on my DVD explains what happened to them(Paulette marries that guy she likes, Emmett proposes to Elle, etc) sothere was no point trying to carry on from that Happy Ever After. Itwas just recycling the first and adding in a whole load of rubbish.
I didn't see LB1 but my girlfriend ensured me that it was good and so weventured to the cinema to see LB2. Oh.... My.... GOD. It was pueriledrivel. I've just read in disbelief reviewers comments who actuallythoughtit wasn't too bad..!!!Please, if you do nothing else with your life, save yourself £5 and2-hoursand do not consider viewing this movie. It is so bad in fact that I wouldadvise you not to watch when it comes on TV.Not since Almost an Angel with Paul Hogan have I wanted to leave a cinema.I only stayed as it was raining outside....0/10 - and only because that's the lowest I can register
May contain spoilersThis is one of the most boring movie that I have ever seen. It wasn't evenfunny and the story was stupid and illogical. What kind of stupid girl wouldwant to find the biological mother of her gay dog to invite her at herwedding. The only good point of the movie was Reese Whiterspoon who is one of thebest actresses of the industry.
the movie was ok. there were some funny moments in the film, but it cannot top the first legally blonde.
Elle Woods is back! Bruiser's(the chihuahua) mother was missing, andlater the dog's mom was found but they won't giver her back. Now, she'sgoing to save Bruiser's mom before her big wedding day.I like the characters and settings but I don't like the plot too much. The plot is okay. Many scenes are funny. Many of the characters arefunny, too. Most of the scenes are dramatic, too. The ending is reallygreat. This comedy/drama movie is good, but not one of the excellent movies.Overall is 7/10. I still recommend this movie for everyone especiallyfor comedy people and people who needs a laugh.
My neighbors roommate rent this movie, because he had the opportunityto rend 3 movies for 1 price. Bored students as my neighbor & I are, wemade some pizza and had nothing to do while waiting.....so we startedLegally Blond 2. I have to say, this was the worst movie I ever saw.Bad screenplay, really no jokes, too boring & serious at some points. When we finished we had a laugh about it....so it's not bad if you'rein a good mood to see bad movies :). My neighbors roommate came in atthe last 5 minutes of the movie and explained to us he fell asleep thelast night while watching this movie......I don't really get the point, and I guess real blonds don't like thisone either. A far cry from Legally Blond 1
This is an absolutely terrific film, the only problem that I was able to find with it was that it doesn't properly continue on from the first film. In the first film Elle is supposed to graduate in 2004 and does, yet when they do the cheerleading routine with the interns, the interns are in the class of 2003, a year before. However in Legally Blonde 2 Elle had graduated around two years before as when she graduated Paulette was pregnant whereas now her child is at least two years old. Apart from this mis-sight though Legally Blonde 2 is a fantastic film which I will enjoy for years to come.
This review is from: Legally Blonde 2 - Red, White & Blonde (Special Edition) (DVD) Maybe not the best sequel ever made, but it still shines as a feel good movie! In this installment, Elle travels to Washington DC to take on the political machine. She finds herself up against deception, ultra-conservatism and many sticks-in-the-mud, but she uses her Delta Nu charm (and sisters) to win the day. This was not as fresh as the original, but still kept my attention and kept me smiling. I was most impressed by the final speech in front of the Houses, where she cited a bad day at the hair salon, but the moral of the story hit a homerun!! Reese continues to play the character superbly. Sally Field played an excellent villain and Luke Wilson's role, although small, made this a pretty seamless movie.Did you notice at the end, when Luke Wilson asked where she wanted to live; she glanced over at the White House and a sparkle appeared in her eye?!? Legally Blonde 3?? Who knows!! :)
Quite possibly the worst movie ever!!!! Worse than the hulk! Made me wanttovomit and never wear pink again!!! Don't see at all costs. It was $4.50onTuesday and even that much was too much. I wouldn't recommend seeing itevenif it was free. You could spend your time better by talking to someonewhobores you to death.
Being a fan of the first 'Legally Blonde' I was excited to see 'Legally Blond 2 Red, White & Blonde'. Oh, my...the movie actually hurt me! It was painfully stupid...not cute and quirky as the first one. I have to say, I didn't watch the entire movie, I had to give up on it when Elle's pretty little puppy's real sexually came out. The movie was already overboard when Elle went looking for Bruiser's 'real mom,' but it went WAY too far when Bruiser 'came out'! This should teach Hollywood a lesson...you can't build an entire story around an orphaned, gay dog! Give us credit for a little sense, PLEASE! This movie is an insult! I really don't know HOW they got such talented actors and Reese Witherspoon and Luke Wilson to go along with this...I hear Luke was luckier than Reese as he's only in the thing once or twice! If you want a good, sick feeling, spend your hard earned money on this movie! Its so bad it makes me sick at the first one that I actually liked!
I really loved the first legally blonde movie. I enjoy watching Reese Witherspoon as an actress in many movies, but Legally Blonde 2 was like watching a trainwreck. Although, the story was horribly contrived and way over the top...one who starts watching it, cannot help but see it to the end. From the moment that Elle went to a private detective to find brusier's mother...I felt like banging my head against the wall--from there it only got worse. If you must see this movie, do yourself a favor and rent it. It is not worth buying.
I got suckered into seeing the first one, and I ended up liking it. I gotsuckered into seeing the new one, and I didn't like it the whole waythrough. The script is really stupid. There are only a couple "sort of"laugh moments. Not worth your time.
Synopsis Spoiler! If you saw the first Legally Blonde movie and you lovepink, you will enjoy this one. Elle Woods played by Reese Witherspoon is aHarvard lawyer who goes to Washington D.C. to change the law on animaltesting. She runs into the political system, the U.S. Congress. Lucky forher, she meets a doorman, Sidney played by Bob Newhart, who shows her howthe system works to get a bill passed. She writes `The Bruiser Bill' andputs it in the hopper of Congress. Elle needs 218 signatures to get herbill to be voted on. She gets some unlikely support from several members ofCongress she befriends. To get more support, Elle has a Million Dog Marchon Washington. You will laugh from beginning to end. I don't think it wasas good as the first movie, but it is `totally' worth seeing. 8/10
