A film that proved me wrong!

Okay,when I first saw the trailer for "Last Day of Summer" I didn'treally seem to take interest in it,but with Nikki Reed being myfavorite actress I decided "what the heck,may as well watch it." So Iwatched it and...wow! I happen to have this movie listed in my top 10favorites! This film was just great,amazing,and...really I just lovedit! This film owns up to it's drama and comedy...again,as always,NikkiReed did just amazing,and still gorgeous as ever! This film is greatfor many reasons,like,the actors and actresses were wellpicked...Quills and Reed were amazing! Again,some of the funny bits gotme,coming from Quills and Reed's character. Just to see the way thisfilm came out,the way the main character is just impacted by the 2ndmain character. In just one short day(or 2) she has changed his outlookon his own life and how it changed hers...unexpectedly too! This wholemovie isn't complete comedy but little bits like,(**SPOILER ALERT!!!**)when the 2 main characters(Quills&Reed) come to see this big tarantulaout of no where from behind the bathtub,the reaction I love(:!Joe(Quills): "*screams* S***!" Stephainie(Reed): "S***, it's big!" Thishas to be one of my favorite scenes from the film,plus the story ofelementary school when they were kids and the last 2 big scenes. Irecommend this film to anyone really,this was just a great littlecomedy and drama,like it says to be! It was quite upsetting to see itnot make cinemas):,but at least it was made! I give this movie 10/10stars(:!

Better than expected!!

This review is from: Last Day of Summer (DVD) Definitely not what I expected, but thoroughly enjoyable.DJ Qualls is great as "Joe", the dorky loser who gets stepped on by everyone he meets. Joe decided to go out and get some revenge by buying a gun and going on a spree.William Sadler steals the show as Joe's boss, Mr. Crolick. He's mean and hilarious at the same time. Not easy to do!Nikki Reed does a great job being scared and vulnerable throughout the film.The basic story - Joe gets tired of being stepped on by everyone and goes out to get a gun and get some vengeance. But things go awry, and he ends up taking a hostage by accident.It's a low budget film, but it's very well made, well filmed, and very well acted.See it!And I'm not just saying that because I supplied the guns, blood, and FX for the film!

Last Day of Summer - A nice surprise....

Joe, played expertly by the talented actor DJ Qualls and Stephanie, played by the beautiful Nikki Reed tells the story of insecure and frustrated worker at a hamburger joint who is belittled by his boss Mr. Crolick(William Sadler)to the point where Joe feels like he's at the end of his rope decides to take out his boss and the entire fast food place when a look from Stephanie stops him. Without giving too much of the story away, director Vlad Yudin's feature film debut is a decent little indie movie, worth watching.

Nikki Reed was great

Very Good, But Terrible Marketing In The UK!

Well, first of all, I rented this movie today, thinking it would be ahorror as the film was marketed as a horror. I can't believe this filmwas marketed as a horror in th UK! This is terrible as it's actually acomedy drama! I thought it was a horror as the whole DVD was in thestyle of a horror film and the summary even made it sound like one, thetitle was also different (Awaken The Night) I don't know where they gotthat title from. On the UK DVD cover it has Nikki Reed and DJ Quallsfaces above a dark creepy forest, where a woman (supposedly NikkiReed's character) is running away from a man (supposedly DJ Quallscharacter) and theirs even splatters of blood on the woman and blood on2 of the trees. I think the UK marketing for this film is unacceptablebecause this movie definitely isn't a horror and theirs not even aforest or blood in it.But, the film was actually very good, although it wasn't anything likeI expected it to be. The acting was brilliant, the style was verymodern and real, and over all the film was very good. I would probablygive the film 6/10 overall but I would give the UK marketing for it nostars as it is just unbelievably stupid.

Great Performances! Loved the film!

I was very excited to see this film. Especially because I am a huge DJ Qualls and Nikki Reed fan. I think DJ Qualls is amazing. He seemed twisted at first and the addition of Nikki Reed to the mix was brilliant. The ending could have went in so many ways. But I am glad it ended the way it did. Truly a great film with emotional performances.
