The funniest movie of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This my favorite movie of all time!!!!!! I don't know what was with all of the people who said they thought it was terrible; me and everyone else I know who saw it absolutely LOVED it!!!!!!! One reviewer said that they thought that adolesant girls might find it amusing. We do. And so does everyone else on the planet (at least the ones that have senses of humor) Basically, everyone who isn't strict and uptight will get at least ONE laugh out of it (if not 400) All in all, I think it's a great movie, amazing (and VERY ORIGINAL)plot, with really good actors who pull the whole thing together and make it a movie that's definately worth seeing!

A classic!!!!

This has got to be one of the funniest movies ever made. People who do not like this movie must have no sense of humor. The one liners Rodney dishes out in this film are hilarious. I am so happy they finally put it on dvd. Thank you Rodney for the laughs. RIP.

Great movie!

I don't know what those other people are talking about this movie is awesome! It's got a great, origional plot. No-one's ever used a plot like this one before. Jonathan Brandis' performance was excellent, and it helps that he's cute, too! "Ladybugs" is brilliant and funny, a definite 5 stars!

Rodney must have done it just for the cash

This dreary comedy is just not funny. Think about it--you know you arein trouble when the plot involves having a boy dress like a girl toplay soccer AND the supporting actress is Jackée Harry. Plus, the movieis just very poorly written with most of its jokes being crude andstupid. You also know you are in trouble when one of these painfullyunfunny moments is when Rodney is in the dressing room with this youngboy and is helping him dress up like a girl--and the dialog is writtenas if he's having sex with this child. Wow--child molester humor--nowthat's sure to create a lot of laughs,...if you're an idiot or a childmolester.It's really a shame, as Dangerfield did some cute movies that were FUN.While EASY MONEY and BACK TO SCHOOL weren't terribly deep, they weregood for a few laughs. This film didn't even provide one.

Rodney was one of the great ones and this movie proves it.

This review is from: Ladybugs [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) This film has to be one of Rodney Danfield's best films of all time just to receive recognition for an older movie to come back on Blu Ray is an honor but this movie is definately worth it. The funny part of this movie is not the story line because it not the best story of all time like an Avatar but its the hilarious side jokes here and there that lets you know why Rodney is so funny. His timing on jokes are flawless, the way he gets out of trouble here and there during the movie is priceless. Even the comments that he had against other soccer coaches during the film. One scene the ladybugs were lossing very bad during the game and the assistant coach said "we still got a chance" and Rodney said "Some chance, like a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest." Now see you gotta laugh at something like that because the movie is full of little side jokes like it you dont see that type of comedy today and if you do you at least know where its origins started from.

*INTOLERABLE!*

Question: Why is such a charming movie intolerable? Answer: Because thereisnothing in it you *need* to tolerate! With this movie, you *don't* havetoendure scene after eye-rolling scene of toilet humor, sexualschadenfreude,and politically-correct-preaching just to get to a very few fetid laughs. Bycontrast, this movie is pure silly fun and it is laugh-out-loudcontagious!Rodney Dangerfield's schtick is in full-effect in this early 90'scomedy-rompabout a hapless Joe whose search for love (and respect) leads him on arathercrooked path. He delightfully loses his way while enlisting the likes ofaself-help guru, his coworker, his boss, his girlfriend's estranged son,andeven a girls' soccer team in his quest to get married.Naysayers will nit-pick about the improbable nature of thedouble-identitysituations or about how the team came together in the end or any number ofanyother situations in this flick. To them I say, "So what?" These are thesamepeople who would pick apart a Marx Brothers film because of the"contrived"appearance of a harp for Harpo to play or on the "stupidity" of the peoplewhobelieve Dr. Quackenbush (Groucho) is a real doctor! It's a COMEDY,people!All that being said, I must say this is picture is a true gem and Icouldn'tend this review without mentioning my favorite "Ladybugs" quote --RodneyDangerfield (mustering all the humanity he can into this one line):"What'sthe point in being the best, if it only brings out yourworst?"9/10!

soccer movies!

I like this movie.whoever thought they would disguise a young man for the girl's soccer team.Rodney Dangerfield is hilarious.he is an 80s icon comedian to me.Jonathon Brandis was a heart throb for the girls i bet."Martha" was his diguised name!not only he went for goals in the soccer game...he had a goal that was not related to the soccer game....a girl of his dreams!i wanted to bring up the movie Kicking and Screaming.it was another soccer movie.Will farrel is a coach in his movie.go see it!both movies is a must see!

THIS MOVIE SUCKS. Big time! Quite possibly one of the worst films ever made.Is it any big surprise that Rodney Dangerfield hasn't made any featuremovies since? Or the rest of the cast for that matter?This film is so awful. OK, Rodney wants to dress his fiancee's son as a girlto help his company's all-girl team win a soccer championship. All right.But Jonathan Brandis doesn't even attempt a girlish voice, doesn't "walk thewalk", and how STUPID are these people that they don't realize that this isa boy??? Especially girl-of-his-dreams Kim. (in a truly wooden performanceby Vinessa Shaw.)I would gladly pay money if someone could find and destroy all copies ofLadybugs that exist. Could you also destroy all the copies that exist of Mr.Wrong, Lake Placid and the Haunting, too?Funny as it sounds, there are two redeeming features in Ladybugs. IleneGraff (best known as the mom on TV's Mr. Belvedere) gives a sweet, sunnyperformance as Bess. And I love the line where Chester and Matthew/Marthaare shopping.Chester: "You have to remember, women are sweet and graceful, flowers in thegarden of life."At this point, a punk girl with short, multicolored hair, carrying a blaringstereo to her ear walks past them.Chester: "Of course, there's always a weed here and there."As I said before, THIS MOVIE SUCKS. Harmless fun!

I thought this film was so funny - I can see why some people may not havefound it as amusing as I did because some of the jokes were only tastefulifyou like that sort of thing, but otherwise, I thought that everything wasportrayed as best it could have been and Jonathan Brandis, playing Marthaaswell as Matthew, was wonderful. Some parents may find this a bit childish,but it's the type of film you can't help but laugh at. I think the bestbitsare where Matthew/Martha are both confronted with some difficultexplainingto do and they have to get each other out of a awkward position. One ofthefunniest films I've ever had the chance to see!

a guy being a girl for a soccer team

well i am not a fan of rodney dangerfield, but this movie he wasnt as badasa thought it would be. being a teenager, i found the kid playing the boyand the girl was pretty cute and kept my attention throughout the wholemovie. the lady that helps rodney coach the crummy girls that cant playsoccer, the mom from sister sister on the disney channel, was a greatmatchto help rodney, since they both have those kind of voices that you want toturn down the volume. it still had a predictable ending, but i liked thecorny side of this movie and watch it occasionally when i see it on comedycentral. (C C-)

Well, I've either died and gone to heaven, or just died. I can't really tellat this point. "Ladybugs" is an odd film. How could I have sat down andwatched this film on three non-consecutive occasions? I guess the allure ofRodney Dangerfield is like a horrible, twisted automobile accident. Nomatter how much you want to move along, you just can't turnaway.Jackée Harry's voice alone would make any man flee the area, and neverreturn. Tommy Lasroda appears near the midpoint of the film to remind usthat he should never be cast in feature films EVER AGAIN. Then factor inJonathan Brandis...as a girl! No, not just Jonathan Brandis. HE'S ALSODRESSED LIKE A GIRL. Go now. While you can. Run for yourlife.Once you watch a bit, you'll be hooked. I'm warning you.Dangerfield is no threat. If you've seen this film, or "Easy Money" or "BackTo School" or anything else he's been in, you know his role. "Awise-cracking (blank)". Here, the blank is filled with "soccer coach". Ifyou're seeing it for the sole purpose of "The Rod", go see "Meet WallySparks". A much better effort.Sometime in the near future, a professor from a large university in Norwaywill release a thesis paper drawing parallels between "Ladybugs" and it'sHollywood soccer film equal, "The Big Green". The paper will go on tocomment that Hollywood cannot make a decent "Big Budget Soccer Picture", andfilms of the sort should be left to the much more soccer-movie-inclinedIcelandic film producers. love it.......

i love the film it is very funny i have it on tape and watch it all thetime. i just about know it word for word and it is funny so i don't knowwhyit only got 41/2 stars. especially Jonathan Brandis he is so cute youpeopleare crazy to only give him a few stars. sure the other actors andactressesare funny too but Jonathan is the best. Rodney Dangerfield is very funnytohe makes you laugh.especially when he throws the football in a scene atJonathan and breaks the vase.Jonathan is just watching some girls dancingintheir underwear and he tells him not to strain his eyes and other placesthat was funny.thats why it deserves 10 stars

Ho-hum...

This harmless, but generally joyless comedy is adequate as a time killer,but that's about it. Rodney gives his usual performance, and if you likemost of his work, then you'll probably like this, too. I generally don'tcare for Rodney, and except for a few amusing lines, the whole movie has aserious absence of funny material. Watch only if you like films withjuvenile humor and a silly storyline.
