Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan with a few friends and who lives alone with his father. His life is not very difficult and his personal trials not that overwhelming. However, one day he makes the simple decision to become a super-hero even though he has no powers or training.
Fans of the graphic novel - expect some pretty big changes; but to mymind they are there for cinematic reasons and make perfect sense. KickAss is a movie that really works, makes you care about the charactersand delivers laughs and violence. Usually at the same time! The firsthalf of the film sets things up perfectly: when shy high schooler DaveLizewski decides to become a superhero he orders a wet suit on theinternet, and goes out in search of superhero action. The sequence wherehe dons his "costume" for the first time is a treat, riffing on De Niroin Taxi Driver. Indeed the movie is full of pop culture references thatare never heavy handed but pulled off with wit and style. Spider-Man,Tarantino, Clint Eastwood. You name it it's in there. Will everyone really be getting all hot and bothered about Hit Girl'snow infamous opening line? Nah, this is 2010. And besides, it's exactlythe right thing to say! We also have something of a career resurrectionfor Nicholas Cage delivering a comic gem of a performance. However it'sAaron Johnson you'll remember - those puppy dog, Frodoesque eyes of hissticking out of that ridiculous costume! What a find he is. The castare all terrific. Mark Strong seems to be everywhere at the moment, andhe makes an excellent heavy. Chloe Moretz is also a fantastic Hit Girl. She made me believe that a 10 year old girl could make mincemeat out ofthe Mafia.Have to say that things slacken occasionally around the mid-point,perhaps a little tighter editing would have helped, but this is a minorissue; in the main the film delivers big time. The end may cheese offsome of the GN fans, as it's way way over the top: to me that was allpart of the cinematic fun. The movie also has a great soundtrack, fromMorricone to er, Sparks. Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn, the teambehind the excellent Stardust, have got another winner here.
Dave Lizewaski (Aaron Johnson) is your average big city teenager and comic book geek, he feels like an outcast to some of the other students. When crime has been happening thanks to gangster Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong), he orders a wet suit and decides to become a superhero named Kick-Ass. Although he has no superhero, he has metal plates in some parts of his skeleton and excellent fighting abilities with two clubs in his arms fighting whatever criminal and thug is out there. However, two of the city's well known superheroes such as Big-Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and assassin Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) begin to make a comeback since Kick-Ass has became a pop culture phenomenon as they start to kill some crooks by themselves as well as have Kick-Ass join them. The don's son Chris (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) becomes an anti-hero himself called Red Mist to lure the heroes into a deadly trap that can cost them their lives.Ultraviolent, hilarious and wild action-comedy based on the cult Marvel comic from Mark Millar! this one is basically like a satire on superheroes even on the very idea that what if superheroes existed in real life. The film has been controversial due to an 11 year old girl character killing people and cussing even though the actress is really in her young teens, i think this movie is a gory and relentless action packed bath of jokes and blood with ideas of course, this movie is a winner all the way. This Blu-Ray includes flawless picture perfect image quality and theatrical sound to it with great extras like Ass-Kicking Bonus-View, commentary, featurettes, art gallery and marketing. Disc 2 is the standard def DVD and disc 3 is a digital copy. Also recommended: "Superman Movies", "Batman Begins", "Dark Knight", "Watchmen", "Ichi The Killer", "Sin City", "Kill Bill 1 & 2", "Pulp Fiction", "Battle Royale", "Riki-Oh The Story of Ricky", "The Toxic Avenger", "Mystery Men", "Iron Man 1 & 2", "Superbad", "Pineapple Express", "Dick Tracy", "The Rocketeer", "Hellboy 1 & 2", "Ghostbusters 1 & 2", "Leon (a.k.a. Didn't see it coming. It started out kinda along the lines of"Zombieland", so I wasn't expecting anything much. Little did I know,it was NOTHING like "Zombieland". It was tasteful, had adult and youngadult humor, it was put together really well. I was very very veryimpressed! It was perhaps the best movie we have seen so far this year. Both my husband and I LOVED it!!! It reminded me of the movie "SinCity", but WAY better!!! Nicolas cage NAiLED iT!!!! We LOVE "Hit Girl",never seen a 10 year old kick ass like that, EVER!!!! The movie kept usguessing ALL THE WAY through the movie!! There's nothing better than amovie that just grabs your attention!!! I will recommend this movie toall our friends...it isn't so good for young kids, b/c strong languageand the violence...but WE liked it!!! Awesome job!! Oh, and whoever thought of the name "red-mist", was probably drinking a"sierra mist" when they wrote it... Every time they said the name"red-mist"....it made me thirsty. For real. How gay. Lol like the soda, hate the character. :) "Red-mist" sucks! You would think a virgin w millions could come upwith something better than that. Kids like that probably dream theirwhole life about being a super hero and thinking up a cool name. Ifthis character could only come up w "red mist", how dumb is this guy???Really?? I know its just a movie and the character is just followinglines, but damn. It made me hate the kid more. A dumb rich virgin...atleast he will never be president!!! Haha!! Oh wait... Sorry GW. :)
Chloe Grace Moretz is Hit Girl, an eleven year old girl trained by herfather, Big Daddy(Nicolas Cage) in the use of various weapons. Shebefriends a nerd named Dave who calls himself Kick Ass, after readingtoo many comic books. He makes a silly looking costume and becomes a"superhero," and in his first encounter he is stabbed and run over by acar. He gets into a fight with Rasul, a drug dealer, and as he is beingbeaten, Hit Girl and her father come to the rescue and kill thecriminal. The crime fighting duo, with the help of Big Daddy, an ex policeofficer who was framed as a drug dealer and therefore has a vendettaagainst his perpetrators. The plot is fairly complicated for a comicbook inspired action film and although a kid leads the cast, theviolence is too strong for young viewers. Moretz is someone to watchfor, as she proved later in Let Me In, the American remake of theSwedish vampire movie, Let the Right One in. She and Cage make Kick Assworth watching.
For the 'quickers': If you're a teenager who doesn't watch that manymovies (especially Black and White ones) and likes teenagers, sex andviolence stories, watch this movie! You'll love it! If you're someonewho watch a lot of movies, who trained yourself to see them with asharp eye, and you're alone, still for you I think you should see it,so you can say "Yes! I saw it! And I think it is rubbish" Now if you'rein the second case and you want a good movie, so you can feel it waswell spent money, don't even bother to watch. Now I can explain for those who want to know why I said that.First of all I congratulate Chloe Moretz for her work and character. However much she is a 12-year-old girl being a disturbing murderer (nothero, heroes don't kill cold blooded), when she is in the screen shereally "steels the show" and it is a "star making performance fromher".'Kick Ass' is clearly a movie to watch. It is so because it isdifferent, not usual at all. But let's put everything on the rightplace.'Kick Ass' takes free violence to a whole new level. I've seen a lot ofother movies that doesn't show that much of blood all around, bulletholes in the heads, knifes flying... Well, special effects for thateffect. And yet they had so much more meaning when it (which I'mtalking about death, the end of a human being's life) occurs. I'verealized that in the movie there is a certain idea to be taken, whichis (now, I don't think this is a spoiler, but it could be felt like it.If you don't want to risk, skip to next paragraph): it shows what wouldhappen if any regular high school kid decide to become a super-hero, hewould be bitten up as crudely as the first time the character Kick Assdecide to do his super hero job. So at that point I respect that crudeviolence. It is done well and shown perfectly. But as the movie goeson, it is not quite the same.I can tell this is a movie to entertain, and obviously I can say thatmany people felt entertained. Off course! The people who made the moviestudied hard and worked out their asses to learn how to make a movieentertaining. And since most of the people who will watch the moviedoesn't know about how they do it, it is even easier to entertain. The movie is made for high school kids, so be it, talk about teenagerproblems, such as friends, drugs, sex, the search for identity, popularity, homosexuality, etc etc. And lately, resulting from many ofthe video and computer games I guess, the ease to kill. There you go,you don't need to be a genius to know that a movie with suchingredients will be entertaining for the age you're aiming for, andthat it will work and sell. In my opinion, and I believe that it is theopinion of many of the regular movie watchers (of all kind, not onlyteenager kind), it is not a good movie because it doesn't have truebrain effort behind it. It is a movie made to sell. Not to be loved andremembered but to make easy money.Just to add a technical opinion. Some of it's parts tried to use thedisturbed violence with intense music, the one that makes people getserious in the cinema room, that was, for example, so well reached bythe character of the Joker (Heath Ledger) in Batman  The Dark Knight. The only difference is that the disturbed violence could have aconnection with the disturbed character played by Heath Ledger, so itmakes sense, and worked wonderfully. In the Kick Ass movie it doesn'thave a connection with neither the character or the situation, so itdoesn't work at all. It is made only to make the adrenaline go high inthose phew minutes by such crude and free violence.
Matthew Vaughn instantly made my top five directors after viewing this film. His stylization, instinct, and control over musical score is what contributed to a great film. He will go on to make many more awesome movies, and I intend to view his earlier work. With that being said, Kick-Ass is near-perfect. Everything about the film is great, but I have one bone to pick with the casting. I really wanted Chris Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist to work. Sadly if failed in nearly every one of his scenes for me. I read the comic, and maybe I expected too much. But after thinking about it, I realized that Chris doesn't do justice to the comic or the film. Red Mist needed to be more sleazy and bratty, instead of goofy and sympathetic. Kick-Ass could have been so much more if the Red Mist role wasn't so satirical. I've seen Chris's work in Role Models as well as Superbad and I am aware of his expanding potential. It's just too bad he didn't differentiate enough here.Besides that little bugger, I enjoyed Kick-Ass thouroughly. I put it about even in enjoyment with the comic, and both versions have their pros and cons. I watch this film for: Nic Cage's amazing performance, Aaron Standford's perfect interpretation, the versatile and awesome fight scenes, top-notch writing, and the fresh/original style of the film. The final two seconds of the film makes me cringe with dislike, but the previous portion of the film is fantastic. It is a shame that Kick-Ass didn't get more recognition, because it's better than most films out there. On blu-ray, Kick-Ass rocks! There's a reason why it topped the charts when it first came home, and that's because it's an essential to any blu-ray collection. No matter what type of audience member you are, there is plenty of room to enjoy Kick-Ass.
Let me say from the start that I am not a fan of comic books/graphicnovels and know almost nothing about them, so I can't comment on theaccuracy or otherwise of the translation of this particular example tothe big screen. I can comment, however, on the quality of the movie, and I have to say that I found it to be intelligent, witty and veryentertaining. There are some excellent and quirky performances, particularly from Aaron Johnson, Nic Cage and Chloe Moretz. There is some great dialogue in the movie, along with a ton ofgratuitous swearing (which I have no problem with at all) and I'm sorryif this sounds childish but I found the conceit of having a young girllike Chloe dropping the C-bomb to be bloody hilarious! There are alsosome great plot twists and turns and genuine surprises, and I'm aseasoned enough movie-goer not to be surprised most of the time. I knowit sounds weird, but despite the OTT nature of the movie, most of thecharacters seemed "real", particularly Kick-Ass himself, who freelyadmits to having no super-powers at all - apart from a huge desire todo some good in the world...oh, and a great big sack of cojones. Theaction sequences were excellent and there are plenty of gory moments. My only problem with it (and it's a very minor problem) was that thewriters almost self-consciously set the movie up for the sequel, makingit all too clear where the battle-lines are going to be drawn. It'spractically a spoiler, but hey, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. Ithoroughly enjoyed this movie and I hope you do too.
This is an unusually interesting comic book adaptation movie. It's gotaction but it's actually part comedy romance and part teen movie. It'squite story driven too with interesting amusing dialog and voice overs.IT doesn't take itself too seriously which is good. The violence isthere but it's not as bad as some of the new movies. The leads are appealing Aaron Johnson has an expressive face and suitsthe role. Lyndsy Fonseca is quite a charming love interest. ChloeMoretz makes a rather controversial role quite cute as the violent kid.Nicholas Cage is in a supporting role. Quite watchable and different.
This movie is worth watching just for the Hit Girl fight scenes, but it has so much more. The characters are all what you'd expect for their roles, and are well played. Wonderfully entertaining, I watched it 3 times back to back, just to see what i'd missed the first two :p
This review is from: Kick-Ass (Three-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I LOVED this movie! It was darker than what I expected but that's what made it so great! The little girl was amazing...she made the whole movie! I will never buy another bluray from Wal-mart or Best Buy again. Amazon has the cheapest prices I've seen online and in stores!
I didn't see Kick-Ass at a movie theatre, so I don't know how audiencesreacted to it. But judging by its rating here many people liked it. Iliked it too, and that's because it's the most original film I've seenin a while. Its violence and sexual content will turn off some viewersthough. The film centers around Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), ateenager who wonders why there aren't any superheroes in real life. This thought leads him to try out being a superhero. The film'srealistic approach to this is often amusing. Did I mention that thereis violence? A bit of it is hard to watch on first viewing, but justwhen you think it's gone too far things turn around. Dave isn't reallya charismatic character. The film makes up for this with Hit-Girl(Chloe Moretz) and Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage). Hit-Girl is (at least forme) the star of the film. The girl's like a Mongol; determined, inventive and a great fighter. She doesn't have a lot of screen time, but whenever she's on screen things are more interesting. Moretz isvery good in the role; she has almost the same effect as Heath Ledger'sJoker in the Dark Knight (2008). In addition, she swears but in hercase it's just plain cool.Kick-Ass isn't just about the humour and the action. There's some goodcharacter development. Most of the fights are amazing, but the storyturns out to be good and varied as well. There are thrills as well asgenuine drama. The villains aren't a bunch of pushovers, so the heroesreally have to give it their all here. And then there is the effectiveuse of music. Yes, Kick-Ass has a lot going for it. Director MatthewVaughn should get much of the credit, but every actor delivers too.Last decade's comic book and action films were obviously an inspirationon Kick-Ass, especially Spider-Man (2002) and Kill Bill (2003).However, the film's hero elements seem more effective than those of itsinspirations. Because the fantasy elements are kept to a minimum herewhat the heroes go through really hits home. It's not easy to watchwhen they're in pain, but it's also thrilling when they succeed. Thefilmmakers smartly used this to good effect, especially in the secondhalf of the film, which is even more exciting than the first half. Andto top it all off Kick-Ass features one of the best (if not the best)uses of a bazooka in film. I recommend Kick-Ass; it even has a lot ofreplay value.
Super Kick-Ass film. The level of bloody action never disappoints witha good dose of humour. I have seen the clips and read the reviews.Thought cool I have to see it to believe it. The story is a about atypical geeky high school kid who's real super power is invisibility togirls until he decided that he can no longer stand and watch the pettycrimes that takes place. He donned a rubber costume that he bought online and decided to do something about it in the form of 'Kick-Ass'. Iwon't spoil the rest of the story. Just go and watch it. If you are afan of hard core comic violence you are in for a treat. EspeciallyHit-Girl. You will feel a bit uncomfortable about what looks like a 11year old girl with killer instincts of The Bride (Urman Thurman)in KillBill, but she is so awesome that every time she is the screen trashtalking or mass murdering you will cheer her on. My bad.
Hit Girl was the best part of this movie.I love watching little girls swear.I love watching little girls kill.I love watching men beat up little girls. And most of all, I love watching little girls holding big guns. It makes me feel like such a Big Daddy. What's wrong with all of you adults who love this movie? And what does this movie say about American culture, if the most vulgar and brutal superhero ever to "grace" the big screen is an 11-year-old girl? Kick-Ass is about as "original and fresh" as a beauty pageant with little girls made to parade around like "sexy adults" (such as the 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, who was, by the way, a victim of real violence).Update: Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl action figure dolls will be available in time for Christmas. Me, I'm hoping they'll come out with a Hit-Girl doll that swears when you punch, kick, and bite her. Can a doll be rated R? :-)
I have a theory why some critics have given this movie such a lowrating and it has nothing to do with the age of the actors.Liberals all over the world despise the gun culture in the US becauseit is against government control. Most liberals have a knee-jerkreaction to anything that promotes guns. I think one of the reasonssome critics are trashing this movie is because it has a lot gunviolence and it is completely unapologetic about it.The directors of this movie were obviously not concerned aboutpolitical correctness, which is why it is so good. "Big Daddy" and "HitGirl" love their guns. Even worse, they show absolutely no remorse forbrutally killing bad guys with those guns. Ebert said it was ridiculoushow "Hit Girl" and "Big Daddy" showed no remorse after killingcriminals. That's a valid point. But in a funny way that's exactly whatmakes their characters so compelling. They are not bleeding-heartliberals who cry every time a brutal criminal is killed. They knowtheir victims are evil and they are determined to make them pay fortheir crimes. How refreshing."Kick-Ass" is also a very compelling character. One of the best partsof the movie is when a criminal asks him, "Kid, are you ready to diefor this stranger?" Kick-Ass answers, "Yes, I am". Kick-Ass lovesjustice so much that he is ready to sacrifice his own life to achieveit. Unlike other celebrities who become famous because of theirappearance and talent, "Kick-Ass" becomes famous because of hisself-sacrifice. I understand that Kick-Ass is a parody of superhero movies, just likeKill Bill was a parody of 70's Kung-Fu movies. But even though thesemovies are laughing at some of the more absurd aspects of the genresthey are parodying, they are also celebrating their themes. Even thoughthe characters in Kick-Ass are absurd, and maybe even a little crazy, they still have all those characteristics that makes us want to besuperheroes ourselves: a determination to punish evil, an unhesitatingcommitment to justice, and a willingness to sacrifice themselves forthe greater good.
I love this movie it's great, the bit where Hit-Girl says the c word was awesome! Buy it now you won't regret it!!!
I registered on IMDb for one reason. To alert people to how incrediblybad, painful and generally nauseating this movie is. The acting is bad.The story is pure drivel. What makes this film truly remarkable is thatit was made not as a mere opportunity to skim money from the trailerpark crowd. Instead, this film is deeply self-referential: What you seeare a bunch of free-styling actors 'acting'. You don't see them as thecharacters they are trying to play. There seems to be no script and ifyou take a good look you can see a microphone occasionally. I admirethe attempt(key word) put forth here. I know what they were trying todo, and their efforts are commendable. That is to say, their heartswere certainly I the right place. But, if they're going to do it, do itright. Lovecraft fans get enough abuse as is; don't add to the store ofthat by producing perfectly awful movies such as this one.I had heard all the buzz and thought that maybe, at long last, weLovecraft fans had finally produced a quality movie on a par withHollywood productions. Dutifully, I invited and bought DVDs for severalfriends to attend with me. The movie was so amateurish, so fraught withplot holes and so poorly edited both pre- and post-production that Iwas mortified. Since I work in this industry, it was readily apparentto me how easy it would have been to maintain plot integrity andthereby give the production the quality it was lacking. I wasastonished that no effort was made to do so. I can, however, give thismovie credit for teaching me never to listen to hype and always previewany Kick-Ass movie before purchasing three extra diskettes at $30USDa-piece. I then spent an hour trying to explain it to them. They didn'tget it and nobody enjoyed it.In short, save your money on this one. When it comes out on Youtube.com(where it should have gone straight to), coerce a friend to download itand watch it in your place. be sure to tell him to pay specialattention to the scene regarding "the Kick-Ass sockpuppet". It's prettymuch an insult to the audience's ability to figure things out.

Why is it that these paragons of righteous humanity only existin our dreams? The main point of Kick Ass is to show us thatsuperheroes don't exist in our modern world for a very good reason.Kick Ass is a parody of the insanely popular comic book adaptationsthat have been bombarding our theatres since the release of Spidermanback in 2001. The satirical elements of the film seem to be lost on alarge number of critics who have branded the film with all kinds ofdamaging labels; 'exploitative', 'gratuitously violent', and'politically incorrect' to name but a few. Of course Kick Ass is all ofthese things. But the film has a different motive for being so thanyour normal run of the mill action pick.Kick Ass tells the story of Dave Lizewski, an avid comic book fan whowonders why no-one has ever thought of becoming a superhero? Theconstantly unnoticed and downtrodden Dave decides to do what othersonly dream of and create a crime fighting alter ego Kick Ass. Dave soonrealises that being a superhero is harder than he thought, especiallyafter only narrowly escaping with his life on many occasions. Dave'sproblems escalate when Mafia kingpin Frank D'Amico thinks Kick Ass isbehind a slew of recent drug busts that is actually the work of realvigilantes Big Daddy and Hit Girl.Unlike most comic book adaptations Kick Ass does not glorify violence. The graphic nature of the fight scenes serve to humanize the actions. They do not appear heroic, just a big bloody mess. The film alsoexplores the consequences of violence. Every time our hero engages in abattle he is beaten to a bloody pulp and only narrowly escapes with hislife. Most of the flack received by the film centre's around the character ofeleven year old, foul mouthed vigilante Hit Girl. Why exactly is itthat this character has received condemnation from family groupsworldwide, especially since the MA 15+ film has never been marketed asanything less than strictly adult entertainment? Sure Hit Girl is likea pint sized Rambo, but is she any more disturbing than the massmurdering, psychopathic child in Orphan? The sociopathic, serial killerplayed by Macaulay Culkin in The Good Soon? A callous, bloodthirstyKirsten Dunst in Interview with the Vampire? There are countless otherexamples of child exploitation, but Kick Ass seems to be the filmtaking the beating. The fact that director Matthew Vaughn is making thepoint that Hit Girl is a product of our increasingly violent cultureseems to be lost on most naysayers. He makes the statement thatsuperhero films glorify violence so much that in our society it isperfectly within the realms of possibility for an eleven year old towish for guns and knives for her birthday.Kick Ass is a rollicking good farce and anyone who attempts to view itas a straight up action film is going to have trouble. It successfullypokes fun at many generic superhero conventions; the death of a lovedone, the arrival of a superpower (which in Dave's case is a slightlyheightened ability to take pain due to nerve damage sustained in afight), the superhero costume ( a green scuba suit which Dave attemptsto wear underneath his clothes at all times), the training regime, thenerd boy who likes popular girl, the showdown and the inevitable sequelsetup. The cast is exceptional. Nicholas Cage gives his best performance inyears as Big Daddy, Chloe Moretz almost steals the film as Hit Girl,Christopher Mintz- Plasse brings the laughs as Red Mist and Mark Strongdelivers another exceptional villain. The film's star Aaron Johnsoncontinues to show his versatility as an actor, possessing the humilityto make Dave pathetic enough that the audience just can't help but rootfor him.Kick Ass is a unique film that deserves to find a large audience. Here's hoping that audiences will get past the controversy and be ableto view the film for the delightful romp that it is.
This film is quite literally "Kick-Ass". One of the few fresh feelingcomedies around nowadays. The story is believable, the casting issuperb and action scenes don't feel rushed and flow along with thefilm. For anyone who was expecting to see a slightly humorousself-indulgent comic flick this will blow you away. I'll be honest inthat some elements of the story seemed like cheats, especially theending shot. But these short-cuts are totally acceptable for thebrilliant moments of genius comedy that flood the movie. I'd also liketo say that Nic Cage is tremendous as Big daddy, showing his truediversity as an actor once again. To sum up this film.....I'm sorry tosay it again....KICK'S ASS!
Greetings again from the darkness. Just when you are convinced thecomic book movie thing has been overdone, in swoops director MatthewVaughn (the excellent "Layer Cake") to reach an entirely new levelthrough a unique, unconventional and twisted approach. It does't takebut a few minutes to realize that clichés mixed with shocks will messwith your movie-processing mind! Somehow we are treated to teen angst,superhero-ism and most every humanemotion and type between the two. WARNING: this movie is rated R and itis a strong R ... IT IS NOT FOR KIDS! The film slam-dances betweenultra violence and uber-geekdom and satire driven slapstick. We get a12 year old Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl, wielding weapons even more deadlythan her shockingly adult tongue. Moretz was also a standout in lastyear's "500 Days of Summer". We get her revenge-driven ex-clean cop BigDaddy father (Nicolas Cage) in Batman costume mentoring her to the waysof a world class assassin. I busted out laughing when I realized thatMr. Cage's voice mannerism mimic that of the great Adam West whiledonning the black cape. A very nice touch. Our other home grown, wouldbe superheros are Aaron Johnson as Kick-ass (replete with green scubasuit) and McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) as Red Mist. Most of thesecharacters are one step removed from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".Of course a comic book story must have a top notch villain and thesedays there are few better than Mark Strong. He delivers anotherterrific dead-pan performance as a drug lord and father to Red Mist.Strong's character is the driving force behind Big Daddy's quest forrevenge.Aaron Johnson's Kick-ass is an example of the clunky teenager who has agood heart and is desperate for attention from the girls. He evenaccepts being labeled as gay by the hot chick he adores just so he canspend time with her. He hangs at the comic book store with his equallygeeky friends and then "transforms" into Kick-ass, a superhero with nopowers other than a desire to do what's right and help those in need.Mark Millar's script balances many cultural and societal observationswhile delivering a visual parade of images and sounds (wondeful musicand score ... including ELVIS) and moments that will keep the viewerunsettled. You might think it odd that an early scene lingers on agiant advertisement featuring Claudia Schiffer. Ms. Schiffer is marriedto the director and becomes one of many tributes and satires throughoutthe film. It is quite a different experience and one that not all willenjoy ... but it is to be admired for reaching for new levels.
This is a Highly underated movie and destined to be a all time classic movie once people see it. More Than the unusual performance from Hit-girl, the movie sparkles in awesome music and great film editing. This was made by a movie maker with lots of heart and not a faceless corperation looking for a fast buck and it shows in everyway. I cannot wait for this double blu ray and to proudly place it on my mantle of other great movies! Keep a eye on this director I expect more greatness from him!!
