We have taken some photos of "Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost". They represent actual movie quality.
I love this entire series of Jesse Stone movies. Tom Selleck and the entire support casts (which vary) of each of the movies do an excellent job of keeping the stories interesting and moving along. Although he is at the center of each story and there is a subtext and plot running throughout each, a viewer can watch each piece independently of the other and be satisfied. The soundtrack to this series is excellent and really enhances the mood and the cinematography is stunning. I really like that Tom's portrayal of Jesse is flawed vs. perfect and yet ultimately you are rooting for him to succeed and are genuinely sorry if/when any harm comes to him and/or his cadre of loyal friends and colleagues who help him make it through the night, one day at a time. The only quibble I have is that by movie #7, I think it's time for him to really let his ex-wife and her voicemail messages go and move on for good.
I did not read the books, I know that movies don't always follow or live up to the book, but I really enjoy these movies. And this one lives up to all the rest. I read someone that gave it one star and only watch part of it, I'm glad they like the dog, but if they feel this way maybe they should just read the books and leave the movie versions to the rest of us that enjoy them. The only thing I would like to see is that the DVD would come out sooner.
I love the jessie stone series. I have purchased them all and have turned other family members on to this series. I was very disspointed in the last movie Innocents Lost. It was boring; choppie story line. I didn't get the thrill and excitment watching as in the previous jessie stone movies. What happened !!!!!!
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) The latest Jesse Stone movie episode is a great show. His bed hopping is still a sore point with me, totally unnecessary, as were his exploits in previous movies. Other than that, it's too bad we have to wait a year for the next installment. The dog is truly a great actor, just follows in the footsteps of Jesse and fits his personality. One of these days, the dog may save his life. The mob boss, Gino Fish, is a plus. The banter between them is useful to both. If anything, the episodes could be longer if we have to wait a year for the next.
This has been a very good series: Stone Cold 3 stars out of 5 (good but rather mean-spirited), the other five episodes 4 stars out of 5. But Innocents Lost is a weak carbon copy/rehash, even down to the dialogue.Again, the self-pitying Jesse Stone mopes through the whole episode. Again, he has a loveless/meaningless one-night stand. Again he says to his dog while drinking, "What are you looking at?" Again, he refuses to pet that poor dog. (I've been a psychology teacher for 40 years, so I know very well how difficult personal change is. But you know--psychotherapy often does work. People do get better.) Again, someone Stone cares about is hurt or dies and he feels guilty. Again, Stone sets up the nasty criminal he can't convict. Again, Stone kicks the criminal in the crotch. Again, you may think Stone made a serious error at the end by ignoring his cell phone. Again, Saul Rubinek lends Stone a car and says, "I'm very fond of you, Jesse Stone." Again, Luther (Suitcase) says, "The facts are out there, all you have to do is let them in." Again, narrow-minded people act mean to Jesse, including a new police chief who doesn't do much else.Yes, I know I could just tune out. But I'm angry because actor/writer/producer Tom Selleck has ruined a good series by phoning in the same old performance, much the same plot, even exactly the same dialogue for the sixth or seventh time. Mr. Selleck: If you can't give us something original--that's O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L--put the series to rest.
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) I have all of the Jesse Stone stories and have enjoyed them very much. Tom Selleck has been a favorite since the days of Magnum. The service I get from Amazon is always top-notch.Barb Berlet
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) Big fan of Tom Sellick and Jesse Stone. I keep wanting him to 'settle down' tho, and come up with a steady girl friend. Ahh, perhaps next time. And, I hope he gets back into the 'Chief's' office.
Tom Selleck IS Jesse Stone! 'Innocents Lost' brought the characters together and, I believe, more relaxed in their roles, like old shoes that finally fit after a few stretches of the leather. Please, don't throw them away, because we want more Jesse Stone and Co.! Joe the Dog steals the show! Even he is beginning to show his age with a little graying around his muzzle. The story is strong, subtle and makes you want more. Stone, now retired, is still seeking justice for a crime that will, probably, never be solved. The new Chief doesn't get much air-time, which is a good thing! Rose's character is getting stronger, but still vulnerable. She walks the line and delivers for Stone. Suits is more settled and endearing. Thankfully, for me, there is only one short phone call between 'the ex' and Jesse. The ending is oustanding! For anyone who has read much of the late Mr. Robert Parker, the speech patterns were his signature, used for all major characters in his books, i.e., Spencer, Randall and Stone. It's quirky, but always seems to work...for me. I will purchase 'Innocents Lost' as soon as it's available!
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) The Jessee Stone mysteries are much better if seen without all the TV commercials. Tom Selleck is great as Jesse Stone. Casting of the other characters is well done also. Story line is entertaining, with enough mystery to hold your interest.
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) obviously not up to quality of previous Jesse Stone stories. Concentrates on Jesse's problems, not the case he's on. Too much of "same old, same old". Poorimitation of Robert Parker's work. If not for Tom Selleck presence, nothing!! No good feeling after watching this.
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) I really love the Jesse Stone series of video's. This one was the worst one in the series. It did not have what the other one's had. I know another one is in the works and I hope it is as good as the first one's. The only good thing was that Jesse did say that he would get his job back. I'm looking fowward to how he does that. Hopefully with some flair.
The Stone movies were very good when based on a Parker novel. SinceSelleck has begun basing the movies on non-Parker stories, the movieshave dropped in quality with each movie. "Innocent Lost" is the worstto date.Selleck needs to go back to the Parker novels for the screenplay andthe Stone series will not be dis-continued. If this current trend ofnon-based Parker screenplays continues, Jesse Stone will become part ofthe past.My wife is a big Selleck fan and hated this movie. That is a tellingfactor.
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) Having read the books before seeing Tom's movies, and being a big Robert B. Parker fan, Selleck would not have been my first choice to play Jesse Stone. But after 7 movies I'd have to say that he owns the character, the laconic drunk with "issues" who can't help but do the right thing, whatever the cost. Parker is a master at creating flawed characters and Selleck brings this one emphatically to the screen. The supporting cast is excellent and one has to wonder what will become of Jesse's growing friendship with the Boston gangster.
I have seen all of the Jesse Stone movies to date. The last being "Innocents Lost". I firmly believe they have gotten better with each outing. I look forward to each of them and watch them whenever they are on any of the channels. Tom Selleck is the highlight but also seems to meld the cast together to create a believable storyline that I hope continues into the years ahead. I look forward to the next installment. These movies are more of a look forward to type than any of the action, sleazy, bad language, movies around today. At last a series that actually has a story to them and not mindless jump from one firey crash to another.
I love the Jesse Stone series but I have to say this is the worst oneof the bunch. The storyline and plot are pretty bland and a lot of thesame dialogue from the other films. The way the actors talked did notseem real as they were spouting off fast dialogue and weren't talkingin a tone or pace that most people do(hard to explain if you haven'tseen it) Hopefully the next movie will learn from this one's mistakes.Jesse is still seen moping around and doesn't go anywhere with hisexwife. Nothing really changed from the other ones. While this was notas in depth or just not as interesting as the previous 6, which Ireally enjoyed. Weakest of the series. Should be subtitled: A brooding Jesse stares athis dog. Abrupt transitions and ending. Issues left resolved. Feelsincomplete.
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) I have enjoyed all the Jesse Stone stories and have collected them all. I am sorry to know that Robert Parker has passed away and these great stories will end.
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) I have liked all of the Jesse Stone's DVD's. This one is no exception. The interaction between the character cast make Jesse Stone's DVD's add to a growing group of followers. This episode is a little more melodramatic than some of the previous episodes. I am anxious to view his next production.
This review is from: Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (DVD) ...it didn't really go anywhere and took a long time to get there. I do appreciate that the series takes its time to develop the stories and doesn't feel the need to throw in a lot of mindless action to keep things moving. I do like the characters and love that it is so obviously shot in a real location (even if it is Nova Scotia). I also like and respect Tom Selleck but you really have to be a fan to enjoy this one; I found myself watching the clock on the DVD player and thinking "where is this going?". Sadly, the answer was "nowhere in particular". I'm not sorry I watched it, but unlike the rest of the series, which I also have, I doubt I'll bother to watch this episode again. Hopefully the next installment will move the story along a little more.
Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost has the former Paradise, Massachusettspolice chief trying for a comeback and his small staff of Kathy Bakerand Kohl Sudduth wishing he hadn't gone. But he riled up some membersof the town council and one of them has put his nephew in as the newpolice chief. The rather arrogant and fatuous new chief is played byJeff Geddis.Tom Selleck as Stone has a perpetual savior who has come for his aid ona couple of occasions. Stephen McHattie who is head of the homicidedivision of the Massachusetts State Police has a case he's havingsecond thoughts about, but the trial is going on. Selleck interviewsthe defendant who is on trial for murder and who won't provide an alibias to his whereabouts at the time of the crime. Selleck also hasinstincts that prove correct. At the same time Selleck is investigating this crime a young girl whomhe had arrested while on the job has died of a drug overdose. Thatinvestigation is on the house and with his credentials supplied byMcHattie, Selleck goes off on another investigation and in his usualstyle steps on toes. What are they going do, fire him?The Jesse Stone movies are all good, some are better than others. ButTom Selleck has totally gotten away from Magnum, PI. This grim man withissues is so different from Thomas Magnum. Check Selleck out in all ofthem if you can.
Very good premise soon goes out the door as too many people and asidebar story come in when the basic idea was more than enough for atwo hour program.Stone has been forced into retirement, but there seems to be troublewith the new chief.A much older looking Kathy Baker reprises her role as Stone's wife. Shestill has that frustrated look. It's really time for her to move onfrom the divorce.Stone takes it upon himself to investigate the apparent suicide of ayoung lady he knew. It eventually appears that this was not a suicide, and by the end of the program the killer can barely be detected fromthe armor he was wearing. The scenes shown by the classic films-"Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,"and "The Bridge on the River Kwai" show that we have to fight for whatwe believe in. This was really making an over kill over the movie'ssubject matter. In short, Tom Selleck-please stick with "Blue Bloods." You've got awinning show there all the way. Time for Jesse Stone to enjoy hisretirement.
