I hardly can't understand why i had never heard of this movie before itooka look at its description in IMDb! I think it never got to the theatreshere, and if it did i never heard of it."Interstate 60" is one of the movies i liked the most of all i've seenlately. It's a journey of a guy that is looking for an answer to his lifeand is driven to a road (Interstate 60) where strange and fantastic thingshappen. The movie has an excellent cast and lots of awesome characters which add agreat feeling to it. I suggest everyone to take a journey through theamazing Interstate 60! (10/10)
A movie about fate - there is a path for everyone, fate only will bringyouto the start of the road, You have to make your own decisions through thatroad. This movies shows what happens if people don't follow theirdreams.I liked the movie very much. I can only say: no Star Wars, no violentpieces, but more movies like this, where you cann't predict the end of themovie, where there is no repetitive scenario and which one can reallyenjoy.
Once in awhile there's a film that comes along that is amazingly fresh init's idea. Interstate 60 is one of the best movies I've seen recently. I sawin a rental store and there was only one copy they had. I didn't see it inon the shelves of the other rental chains I usually visit several times perweek. I debated whether or not I should even rent the movie. But, it hadChristopher Lloyd in it...so it couldn't be that bad.I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie. It's fun and utterlydifferent than what I was expecting it to be. Interstate 60 cannot beclassified into a single genre. It is many genres, from fantasy to comedy,to romance, to drama...and back again switching between these and so muchmore. The script is very well written, with many memorable lines of intelligentdialogue. There are several notable cameos by high profile actors such asMichael J. Fox, Ann-Margret, and Kurt Russell. All of their performancesmade use of their stellar acting abilities. Another must see role was playedby Chris Cooper.Interstate 60 should really have had a wide theatrical distribution. It hasthe look and feel of a big budget movie, and surely has a wide rangingappeal. A lot happens in this movie and that is a good thing! It's a shamethat a lot of people will probably never see or hear of the movie. If youcan find it around you should definitely rent it. You also couldn't go wrongwith just buying it, I know it is next on my list of movies to buy for mypersonal collection. I give this exceptional movie a 10 rating out of apossible 10!
This was actually a decent movie. It's sad that it didn't get promotedproperly because I think if it had it probably would have done well. Itleaves you feeling good when you're done watching it. Considering howmany absolutely terrible movies come out each year and go on to makemillions its sad when a movie that is pretty good goes unnoticed. Themovie's not perfect, but definitely worth renting in my opinion. Irented it and I had never even heard of it, but the description on theback sounded intriguing. It turned out to be very interesting.Surprisingly, there are a number of cameos in this movie from somepretty big stars. This isn't promoted well on the cover of the movieeither. Kirk Russel, Michael J. Fox, and Christopher Lloyd and ofcourse Gary Oldman are all in this movie. The lead character, whosename I don't know, was good in it also. I'm happy I rented it.
InWhile INTERSTAE 60 has good intentions and is indeed interesting to watch, I kept watching and waiting for it to entice me. The premise was interesting enough and initially, the movie drew me in. However, the payoff never seemed to come. I don't know what I was expecting exactly I just know that I never felt satisfied. Also, the film boasts a cast of several talented actors, several good actors I usually love to watch, and yet good performances are hard to find (aside from Michael J. Fox in to small of a role). I don't know if that's because this is Bob Gale's first time in the director's chair or if everyone was just phoning it in. Either way, while the film does grab you and make you wonder were it's headed, it never seems to go anywhere unique or truly fascinating. I think part of the problem may be that there is too much story to tell and not enough time to tell it in. INTERSTAE 60 would be a great idea for a television series but as a movie it just doesn't always work. D+
I honestly can't believe that I sat through the entire two hours of the worst movie I've ever seen. I kept thinking that something meaningful was going to happen, and was curious since this received so many great reviews. Has some of the worst, most-laughable acting, fake sets, awful writing, and ridiculous storyline. I have to admit that it had some good potential plot points, but it quickly eliminated those with thinly-veiled commentary on current society that was too preachy. Overall, I'll make a wish for O.W. Grant - GIVE ME THE TIME BACK THAT I WASTED WATCHING THIS AWFUL FILM!
Well , I must say that Bob Gale did a great job and lovely acting with agreat plot. This movie delivers messages to us and yet shows nill's answer to hislife...Really good movie which I give him 9.
As soon as the movie ended, i was saddened because the movie was over. This movie is great!! It was an instant favorite for me. I love the philosophical meaning. It was philosophically about the meaning of life, and the different reasons people choose for their meaning to live. It does a good job of showing the relativeness of choice and meaning, however; i believe this could have been better if it was longer and more detailed, but nontheless, it was a great movie!-eric, California, 21
This is a fantasy road type movie that takes place on a highway ladenwith a bag of tricks. It tries hard, but comes off as fluffy andhollow. There are some neat skits like the drug town and the lawyertown - but others were simply too cliché  the overly tiresome ads ofhis fairyland girlfriend for instance. The main problem is James Marsden  who attempts to be the leadcharacter. Yes the script is pretty banal  but to be blunt, Marsdenmakes the movie boring  he exudes little character and energy. He'sjust a pretty face like the billboard ads he keeps gawking at.This movie is worth a peak on a dull night, but that's about it.
Very unusual movie that keeps you guessing right until the end. Lots of strange and dark humor, and fair bit of introspection.
This review is from: Interstate 60 (DVD) I thought Interstate 60 was a very enjoyable DVD, but just as it begins to run out of steam.....enter Amy Smart.....fabulous, that's not just the DVD but the wonderful Miss Smart without doubt as well.As the rest of the folks say in other reviews, one cannot say a lot about the DVD without giving away too much of the story.Order it now and watch the DVD and the fabulous Amy Smart as well!
This review is from: Interstate 60 (DVD) Ever hear of what sounded like an interesting movie years after it was released and decide to rent it? Next you realize it is a great movie and you wonder how you had not heard of it before and why you missed it when it was released. This is one of those movies. An indie that went direct to video and will give you pause as to how in the world it didn't get better media exposure. Certain road movies transcend just the college drinking, drugs, and debauchery and move to a higher plane where self awareness and lifes lessons are intertwined into a rewarding experience you will never forget. I know the first time I saw a movie like this it changed my outlook. Sure I enjoy the off the wall Harold and Kumar type road movies, but the road scholar movies like this one can't be beat. Afterall, along with teaching you to keep an open mind and tell the truth, it will hit your funny bone quite a few times as well.A young man takes a drive on a interstate highway that isn't really on any map and meets all kinds of interesting people and learns all kinds of lessons about life. He has the fortune to have common sense which helps him through some potential pot holes. It all started with a birthday wish for answers to his life. His interest are in art but his father would like him to be a lawyer. A Native American Leprechaun, O.W. Grant, grants him his one wish. But the means by which he learns the answers are unusual and his pitstops along the way result in clever and funny experiences. Excellent story, cast, camera work, and superb directing by Bob Gale of "Back to the Future" fame. James Marsden and Gary Oldman do stand out roles and really make the movie fun. Good cameos by Christopher Lloyd, Paul Brogren, Michael J. Fox, Kurt Russell, Mathew Edison, Chris Cooper, and Ann-Margret. I highly recommend you add this one to your library because I doubt the price will get better and this sleeper may go out of print. Excellent quality DVD with commentary and documentary. I give it four and half stars. If you enjoyed this catch "Fandango".CA Luster
This brilliantly original film somehow bypassed theatres due to the usualstudio stupidity. An intelligent, offbeat road movie with fantasy elementsis a hard thing to sell, so they don't bother and the film eventually limpsits way onto DVD.With a bit more money this could have been one of the best films ever. Asit is, director Bob Gale makes the best of things and it's a reflection onhow strong the story is that he can get away with it on a measly budget. There are great cameos from Michael J.Fox and Kurt Russell amongstothers.Like Donnie Darko, this is a weird little indie film you may never haveheard of but buying the DVD will be one of the best choices you'llmake.
If you have seen the movie, then you know what I mean by my title. If not, well, I have to tell you that this movie is great. This movie came out a few years ago, and I had never herd of it. I just stumbled across it one day. And this is on my must own list. It is a very inventive, fun, movie. All the answers to anything you wanna know about are in this movie. Yes, it is more fantasy than anything, but don't let anyone tell you that this movie was poorly written, directed, or cast. It is a great fun movie. Buckle up and go for a ride down interstate 60. It's a wild ride. This is what I love about movies. Fiction! People forget that movies are supposed to be fun. So many are just looking for a flashy title and some kind of intellectual value or expensive speacial effects or even mind numbing off the wall comedy. This movie has alittle bit of all those things.
I had never heard of this film before, but the cast and director's credentials gave me enough reason to give it a chance at the video rental, and I'm very glad I did. It's a classic road trip which is witty and inventive. And there is an unexpected twist at every bend in the road. I don't know why director Bob Gale hasn't had as many big movies after the Back to the Future series as success like that would suggest. He still has a gift, and obviously a whole lot of friends who were intrigued with the project -- and because it must have looked like a lot of fun. You don't get Gary Oldman, Christopher Lloyd, Michael J. Fox, Ann-Margret and Chris Cooper to work on a movie with such a modest budget unless they want to.The younger and very photogenic James Marsden and Amy Smart rose to the occasion very well, and I'd bet they felt lucky to be in such company.I recommend this film. According to the script, all you have to do is take Bob Dylan's Highway 61 and one more turn -- into something which looked to me like a contemporary version of the Twilight Zone.
I watched this movie at the Paris Film Festival and luckily met/congratulated the director Bob Gale after the movie. INTERSTATE 60 is as awesome as the treatment it received by the ungrateful international theatrical distribution.Bob Gale (a gifted screenwriter, now definitely a gifted director) obviously knows that cinema must contain a part of enjoyment and a part of enriching thinking, and he managed in I60 to make us laugh, while telling us a captivating story full of « BACK TO THE FUTURE like » surprises. The basic plot is actually the same than in BACK TO THE FUTURE (a young man tries to set his future) and I60 always reminds the magic of the 80's cult time travel trilogy while being a whole new fascinating story.I profoundly think my mind has won something precious in watching this movie, and all I want now is just to watch it over and over again. Just try it, and you will see something very special coming in your life.
Bob Gale has writing credits on two of my favorite movies, "Back To TheFuture" and "Used Cars" (Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Kurt Russell -all here for this one). I got lost on Interstate 60. James Marsden doesn'tpull the role off very well and his performance spoiled parts of the movie. This has some pretty good quirky characters, Mr. Cody, Tolbert (DeepStomach), but the casting really hurt this movie. Getting "good" actors, isn't always getting the right actors. Even Gary Oldman and Amy Smart forcetheir roles. "Interstate 60" may have been a decent script andquasi-interesting idea, but it's fades in the early turns and doesn't havemuch of a median strip to rely upon when the breakdowns occur. Worthwatching for the movie it might have been. Don't expect a IMDB 7.7 like Idid.
Bow wow. The protagonist's 'gosh gee whillikers' presentation might be appropriate for a 12 year old; here it just seems bizarre. Gary Oldham, whose acting I usually like, is horribly miscast in a leprechaun role. Imagine Walt Disney meets John Carpenter with a hefty dose of Dukes of Hazzard thrown in. I can't imagine where the positive reviews are coming from if not from shills.
Interstate 60 is a well written story that offers the suggestion that things might not always be what you expect them to be.The casting was excellent and probably could not have been done better.
In 1985, I saw a movie that depressed me, for I feared I'd seen the bestfilm in my lifetime, and might never see a better one before I die. Themovie was "Back to the Future." Its creator, Bob Gale, has done it to meagain, but I'm not depressed this time.Interstate 60 never saw distribution, which makes seeing it at a filmfestival, meeting Bob Gale and Christopher Lloyd, and owning the DVD allthemore precious.Buy it. Watch it. It's surrealism that average people can understand, andlaugh their asses off at.
